As we arrived the setting was great. We went to the hostess station and stated our reservation as a party of 4. The couple in front of us was a party of 2. Their table was not ready so they gave them ours and told us to wait. Then about 10 minutes later they graced us with a table. Took about 15 minutes for staff to acknowledge us once we were sat. We ordered drinks and food. The salads and soups were very good. The appetizers were honestly terrible. They were no where near what they should have been. Then about 45 minutes later food came. We were expecting the wait as they were packed. The plates were beyond hot and the food was so dry it was sinking in. 3 of us had the poultry. Just dryer than dry. The duck was so dry the wing was a bone and the leg was completely showing. The prime was even dry. I stated how dry my duck was and they offered a change. The other two eatting the hems just dealt with it. I ordered prime instead of the duck. And it came out dry as dry could be. Along the way we never even received the table bread they said was coming. Then at this point we just wanted deserts. So we ordered. This was another long drawn out experience. Then came the bill. Almost 340.00 for dried up terrible food and commercial deserts. The staff stood around while we chose the top and were stuck paying 18% for poor service. We have been here before a few years back and I was really looking forward to the duck (I love duck). We planned this supper 5 months ago and could not wait to bring our son and his spouse here, and it was a total waste of money. Over $350.00 for dried food and more. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Not nice management.
The restaurant almost was empty bye the time our food arrived over two hours and fifteen minutes after placing our food order. Asked our server to talk to manager about cold salty food let alone waiting with way too long with 4 children. She returned without our food check and said just pay tip and everything will be fine. Which I did. Left all smiles and tired back to our Vrob. Only to get a call from local police about THEFT complaint from the English Inn. Went back and paid for food out in the parking lot with fear of a police prosecution with Officers standing at my side.. Stay away! Lost my respect for this business.

We went up to Door County for the day to share our favorite restaurant with our family for our anniversaries. It was very unexpected that we had such a long wait, even with a reservation.. of over an hour wait, then when we got to our table our waitress was very Snippy and said we would probably have another hour before our food would get to us because it was a festival weekend. I feel they shouldn't have accommodated us if it was going to be that long of a wait of over 2 hours. Or at least let us know ahead of time when we checked in. After the food came..and I had ordered a meal of lobster and steak, sadly the food came out cold! No warm butter for my lobster and the steak was lukewarm, very disappointing! In the past it was always so good and this is the first time I've ever had such a poor experience. Frankly, I was embarrassed as my entire familie's food came out cold too. I bragged how good this place was and it turned out to be a flop! Been going to this place over 40 years, off and on and even during Festival times. Never had such a bad experience with a defensive waitress, expensive food that was cold, with a wait time of over 2 hours... ridiculous and so unfortunate! The restaurant really overbooked themselves as the line was way out into the parking lot to get into this place even with a reservation. Stop taking the reservations if you are not able to accommodate!

STAY AWAY - they will steal from you!
We had 645 reservations and checked in on time. At 7 we were seated (not terrible). 15 minutes later someone comes to take our drinks and we ordered entrees right away as it was busy. 1 hour 30 mins later still no food with 4 kids and adults all hungry. Ask Manager and he says "let me check". Food comes around 9 (2 hours 15 min after reservations) and the Perch is cold, the Salmon was so salty it was inedible and never even asked for second drinks. Talked to Manager about receiving some compensation, dinner on house, and agrees and says its up to the server. Talk to wait staff and they say let me ask management. Comes back and we are told yes just need to pay for tip. Leave 930, almost 3 hours after arrival with hungry and unhappy families. Get back to hotel and receive a call from sheriff because owner/manager says we skipped bill which clearly we did not. Went back and paid, Manager refused to come back out to talk, wait staff left for night so couldnt talk to them. Been here numerous times over the years but will NEVER spend another penny with these thieves. Absolutely disgusting management.

My niece and I returned to the English Inn for our fall Door County trip. The food was excellent! We both ordered the filet again. The Service was good. We didn't have a reservation (5pm) and had outdoor seating by the koi pond again. It was 55° outside after sunset so blankets were provided and the tables have propane fire pit in center. They surprised us each with a rose after dinner. Picture from the last time we dined there. My parents used to frequent this restaurant for their anniversary. Now it's most likely becoming a tradition for me and my niece!

We ordered the 12oz filet and the stuffed portobello mushroom plate. Food was excellent. Steak was under cooked but asked waiter to have to corrected and they did. Cheese curds and bread were great as well. Brandy old fashioneds we're good as well and the 7 layer chocolate cake was amazing.

Should have stopped with the first cocktail and the appetizer. Those were the highlights. The service was bad, one entree was good, though the sauce was served cold. The other entree was second rate cafeteria grade. The garnish on both plates was wilted and sad like it had been under a heat lamp. I have eaten at this place two or three times a year for 14 years. I was shocked at the mediocrity tonight. We should have gone back to Alexander’s. 10-6-25 update: I did not want to go back but there are limited options on Monday evening. Continues to be a disappointment. Whitefish tasted like it was sitting on a steam table for two days. Spent $180 for two people. The only delicious thing were the martinis. The server was also very nice.

One of our favorite places to go when in Door Co. It had been a couple of years since last there and WOW! they really jazzed up the patio with fire tables, the heaters with flames and they even provide you with a throw blanket in chilly weather. Food is always perfect, with the spinach salad and baked French onion soup a must. Had the Seafood Casserole for the first time snd it did not disappoint.

I really was hoping for something better. This is a very unique place with tons of character. Unfortunately the food was mediocre given the prices and the service was painfully slow. My wife's Salmon Wellington was doughy and my ribeye had no actual flavor. Here's the icing on the cake. No refills on a fountain pop!! I haven't been charged for a soda refill since 1987. WOW.

Year after year, the English Inn never disappoints. From the parking lot on in the atmosphere is second to none. Cozy, warm, comfortable bar, followed by some of the best food we’ve had and we eat out a lot! This establishment deserves an award!!

Myself and my wife went here the weekend after mother's day/ mother's Day weekend. It wasn't very busy but I have seen this place absolutely packed to the gills. The service was second to none, sat at the bar and had great drinks before sitting down for dinner. The waitress was wonderfull and the food really was amazing. I loved the entire experience!!! The only real downside to this restaurant is the prices, it's a super club I understand it will be expensive. Besides that everything there is wonderful and a must go when visiting door county!!!

We loved this “supper club” style restaurant. The service was excellent. Immediate seating when you entered. The martini menu was great. I had the chocolate martini which I highly recommend. There is a large choice of entrees including a specialty menu. I had the recommended Beef Wellington. It was delicious! They even gave every lady a rose.
The decor, atmosphere and selection of indoor or outdoor seating is really nice. Located just on the edge of Fish Creek, WI. Highly recommend.

Great spot with beautiful outdoor patio. Each table has it's own glass enclosed fire pit in the center of the round tables. Lovely well tended plants adorn the grounds.
The service was friendly and our steaks were cooked to order, flavorful, and nicely plated.
It was nice to have a great meal with ambiance while dining with our dog!

Very unique and fun looking place! Fireplace centered tables outside were cozy with blankets provided. It was in the 50s and we were comfy in our shorts and sweatshirts. Brought us a rose before service! We had the regular French onion which was perfect. The bread basket was good. My spouse had steak and baked potato that was very tasty and cooked perfectly. I had the smaller portion pork chop with apples on top and it’s the best pork I have ever had!!! I even ate the glazed carrots because they were so good (I’m not a carrot fan!). Beautiful dinner for a special night out. I’d say the foods priced just right. Our waiter was great and very nice; he even took time to speak with us about Romania and his summer program he was on to work in DC then go back to school. Also open later hours then a lot of places which helped us with the time change and out stomachs schedule.

We had a truly fantastic evening at the English Inn, and our experience was made all the better by our exceptional server, Christina. From the moment we were seated, she was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home.
Christina was a real pro—she knew the menu inside and out and had great recommendations that perfectly matched what we were in the mood for. She was always there when we needed her without ever being intrusive, striking that perfect balance that makes a dinner feel special. The service was prompt, our drinks were never empty, and the meal flowed seamlessly.
The food itself was outstanding, but it was Christina's warm personality and professional service that truly elevated the entire night.

What an amazing atmosphere on the outside patio. From the Koi ponds to all the beautiful sculptures, the tree lights, and the variety of different flowers certainly kept the conversation ongoing. Our waitress Christina was such a joy and won my heart when we were presented with roses. Her smile along with her uplifting personality and her kindness, made sure our supper was a perfect experience. We had some of the best deep fried cheese curds(homemade batter) I have ever had. The hot artichoke dip with homemade Pita chips made it hard to save room for our meal. But we managed. Oh yes, and saved room for that special grasshopper drink that Heather whipped up.

Service was wonderful. Tonight’s special was lobster crab and shrimp which my bf says is amazing. My fettuccine Alfredo had sat in the window so long it was a paste. One of the worst pasta dishes I’ve ever had. Entrees come with tasty warm bread and choice of soup or salad. The French dressing was different, would not order again. Bf described the bruschetta as “like a pizza” lol. Tiny amount of tomato with lots of baked cheese and a bland balsamic. Grasshopper was average. There’s better in Door County. I’ll give it another chance but overall three stars for now.

Something on the menu for everyone... Meat, pasta, fish, chicken... Excellent dessert options too. Fast, friendly service. A bit expensive. One really nice thing is they offer smaller plate options, otherwise, the regular portions are substantial, bring your appetite. Outdoor seating available.
Highly recommend it... You can reserve a table online, as it gets crowded on weekends.

We ate out on the beautifully decorated outdoor patio, water feature, lovely flowers, tables gas light fires in the center, etc… The service is very good and given that it was a packed house after a night of storms and power outages, it made it even better. We had the Pistachio encrusted halibut and it’s was terrific, sides were good and the warm bread was delicious. The only thing off was the crème brûlée, it wasn’t quite set but it was still very tasty and nicely presented. I would go again for the authentic up north dinner club atmosphere and the pressed, sweet or sour old fashions.

We’ve dined at the English Inn each time visiting Door county for several years back. Our first visit over 5 years ago there were not as many dining options for high quality food. Today, we chose to come back and food was cooked perfectly. Beef wellington, ribeye and fish excellent. Love the French Onion soup with cheese on top. It’s a little pricey, but the quality of the food and atmosphere makes it worth it. Old fashion supper club, so don’t expect to be served quickly when busy.

Great place for a splurge. Plenty of comfort food, great seafood, beautifully presented. The outdoor seating has nice gardens, suits of armor, sculptures. Indoors also has some fun decor. But the highlight was service. Our table of 12 asked a lot of questions and the servers were patient, helpful and everyone really enjoyed the whole experience. Ladies were given a rose which was a fun suprise. Servers were class acts. Excellent wine list too.

So - we own a supper club so expectations are high. We had an amazing night. The food was spot on! Melissa - amazing server- second time we had you and you ROCK! She is a keeper. The atmosphere is spot on - cozy - relaxing. LOVE the blanket you brought - so cozy. Bartenders were great with drinks and our appetizer ( crab cakes ) yum. We had ribs - beef Wellington- clam chowder / all delicious. Also - the cutest table - with a fire - aside a beautiful pond - amazing . And to top it off - was handed a sweet rose for a thank u for coming .
This is a must come ! Keep being original- we will be back !

TLDR: Creative ambiance with outdoor seating is diminished by lackluster service and disappointing food.
Although our group was excited to sit outdoors and enjoy the summer evening, our server was aloof and distant, missing many key details.
Ambiance-
The outdoor patio is complete with a pond and fountain feature stocked with koi that is both relaxing and well cared for.
The fireside gas tables are a nice touch, especially for warmth as the sun goes down.
The overall theme is a mix of medieval stylings and modern rustic.
Service-
Our server was kind, but inefficient. A few requests were made multiple times, such as silverware for the meal, lighting the natural gas feature (it was cold), and general order requests. A big point of disappointment was that a plate was cleared when one of our party left the table, and the food was not saved or boxed up for home. The majority of the $45 entree was tossed without question or concern. The server apologized but offered no solution to rectify the loss of the food.
Food
The Beef Wellington dough on the croissant was undercooked and doughy for multiple members of our party.
The mashed potatoes were cool and dry.
The pistachio halibut was a small cut that had a fishy taste on the edges that was not consistent with quality halibut entrees at similar restaurants.
Value
The menu has very few items for less than $40. Most entrees run $40-$70. For these prices the execution should be much higher.
Overall the restaurant seems to be missing the crispness of service and quality of food that would be expected of its pricing.
There are several quality dining options in door county, wish we would have missed out on this one.

Kind of dark, has a Middle Ages theme. The decor is heavily themed and interesting. Koi pond out front was nice and clean. Outdoor patio appeared clean. The restaurant is exceptionally clean for the size of the restaurant and amount of decor. Cherry salad was very good, broiled whitefish a little dry, twice baked and rice pilaf were good. Service was very good and friendly. Will definitely go back as they offer multiple Wellington options which not many other restaurants offer.

We made reservations for our anniversary. Corrine was our server. She did a wonderful job. I had the filet and shrimp and my husband had the broiled whitefish. The food was delicious. Just a small complaint about the baked French onion soup. The first bowl was served barely warm. Corrine was very apologetic and quickly replaced it. The second bowl was a little warmer but not by much. It was also an almost $7 upcharge. We will definitely be back though.

Lovely outdoor dining experience in early May. Typical WI supper club menu and fare. Beef Wellington was very good, pistachio crusted halibut was fine and both were served with warm bread. Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was a highlight. Rose when we departed was a sweet touch.

We brought my husband’s mother here for an early Mother’s Day dinner. We sat outside next to the koi pond at a cool table with a fire in the center. They offered plush blankets for additional warmth. We all had the filet mignon, delicious! I had the spinach salad instead of the potato option (I wished I had chosen the baked potato. My MIL’s looked delicious!). Th flourless chocolate cake was YUM! My only complaint were the oh-so-sad glazed carrots on the plate. The atmosphere was super fun and kitschy with nice outdoor fire tables and comfortable chairs surrounded by metal sculptures. Can’t wait to come back. Oh and great service too!

I need to leave this review negative as I never really do this. Let me start.. we came in as a table of 3 people with reservations. We did not get our food until 1 hour and 30 minutes. The table of 4 next to us came in much later and got their food before ours. This wasn’t even the icing on the cake… I got up to use the restroom and I brushed up next to a metal knight figure on the way to the bathroom. Well I ended up brushing up against the metal figure and sliced my finger as I was dripping blood in the bathroom. Went back to table and mentioned this to the manager who provided me an outdated first aid kit in which all the alcohol wipes were dried out and he said “we have insurance” .. what a joke… what if this was your 2-3 year old child walking to the restroom and gets cut in the face or eye? just be cautious about this place… by the way no apology nor did they offer us any compensation.. be careful here.. will NEVER go back.. keep in mind restaurant was not even busy… wait until Memorial Day or beyond this needs to be addressed to keep our kids safe…

Off season is tricky in Door County - so finding them open seemed rather lucky for us.
The decor is rather like a traditional WI supper club was placed inside a midevil renfaire. Complete with knights on horses, suits of armor, fireplace hearths etc.
Pricey food with hearty portions. Everything was well prepared and tasty. I went alacart with a single lobster tail and a cherry spinich salad with warm bacon dressing while my daughter had the roasted duck with a goat cheese salad.
The bread was warm and fresh from the oven.
We enjoyed our after dinner drinks of Pink Squirrels to go.
Dont forget that every lady receives a rose to bring home as well.
Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Will come back again.

Upon entering, you are greeted with an old-world supper club themed vibe. Love all the iron decor and the old English theme. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Our waitress Robyn was so kind and helpful with her knowledge of the menu and drinks. Chicken wellington was tasty and filling, and so was the sauted shrimp. We got a small lobster tail on the house, and all ladies got a long stem 🌹. The best things we had though was the spinach salad with their homemade warm cherry bacon dressing ( which you can purchase) and the Door County cherry ice cream drink. Soooo nummy 😋
Family friendly, and they go all out on their Christmas decor.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner last night, and it sadly was not as memorable as it was 5 years ago. We had a reservation at 6:30, we got sat at 7. (Not a problem, they were busy, it's a holiday). We didn't see a server of any kind for well over 15 minutes when someone came by to fill our waters. We sat for another 10 to 15 minutes before our server came by and said, "k, are you guys ready to order?" Not.. "Sorry for the wait." "Can I get you anything to drink?" "Thank you for being patient." Nothing. There was no acknowledgement that the service was lacking. She takes our order, and 15 minutes later, we get my children's beverages. It's 7:45 before we get our salads for the table and at 8:27 we finally get our dinners. The plates were SUPER hot, and the food was barely warm. We saw the server 3 times. To ask if we were ready, to bring salads, and to bring dinner. I've been in the restaurant industry and service industry for years, and that was NOT at all how you handle a busy night. We spent over $300, not including her $80 tip that was barely deserved. I get being busy, and I get holidays, but I expected more acknowledgment of terrible service and quality. Any apology of any kind would have sufficed.

This review is for off season. The restaurant was not busy.
We ordered pork chops with carrots and French onion soup. The French onion was almost completely absorbed by the bread and flavorless. It tasted like they baked it yesterday and reheated today. Yuck.
The pork chops were fine. Nothing to write home about but nothing special and very sweet. The carrots are atrocious and inedible.
The other meal we ordered was broiled white fish, mashed potatoes and spinach salad. The spinach salad was great! The white fish was good but VERY expensive for the portion. The mashed potatoes were delicious. We don’t drink and asked the bartender to make us a fun mocktail and something fruity. He even came to our table to ask us specifically what we wanted as he tried giving us the same old boring pina colada and strawberry daiquiri ideas. We told him those were not what we wanted but we would let him give us something playful. Nope. We got the boring pina colada and strawberry daiquiri grossness from the machine. Zero creativity. We wanted him to create a fun drink as we have asked MANY bartenders to make us something fun and we have NEVER been disappointed, except here.
Our bill came to $102 no tip.
The entire experience was disappointing and a one and done.
Do yourself a favor and skip this one. We took one for the team so you don’t have to.

I recently had the misfortune of dining at The English Inn, Fish Creek, and it was easily one of the most poorly managed restaurant experiences I've encountered in Door County. Despite making a reservation weeks in advance for 7:30pm, which we confirmed the day before, we arrived at 7:15 only to be handed a pager without any mention of the restaurant being behind schedule. The bar area was packed, and the manager, who also served as the host, made no effort to communicate the situation to us or other waiting guests.
By 7:40, I went back to inquire about our table, only to find a line of frustrated patrons—some with reservations as early as 6:00pm—still waiting. Shockingly, the restaurant continued to take walk-ins, offering them a false promise of a 30-45 minute wait, clearly knowing this was far from accurate. It seemed they were more interested in encouraging people to spend time (and money) at the bar than managing their guests properly.
It became evident that this is not an isolated incident. Several people I spoke to mentioned similar frustrations, and some even went so far as to say that The English Inn is notorious for its disorganization and poor service. The management seemed completely disengaged, making no effort to check in with tables, guide their service staff, or even competently manage reservations.
To make matters worse, the restaurant appears to rely on high tourist traffic, capturing one-time customers with overpriced food and mediocre service. The frequent staff turnover during the busy season is telling and reflective of deeper issues in how this establishment is run.
In short, if you're looking for an enjoyable dining experience in Door County, I strongly recommend exploring the many other options in Fish Creek. The English Inn may have once been a popular spot, but today, it’s marred by mismanagement and a blatant disregard for its customers. Save yourself the frustration.

We made a 7:30 reservation and arrived on time, only to find the reception area and bar completely packed with barely any standing room. People were still waiting for their 6:00 reservations, so it was clear there was no organization. We were finally seated 45 minutes late, and it took about 20 minutes for our waitress to even come to our table. When she finally did, she rudely informed us that both food and drinks would take a long time. I understand it was a busy Friday night, but for a higher-end establishment, this is unacceptable. What’s the point of making a reservation if they don’t honor it and overbook with walk-ins? We ended up leaving before even ordering drinks. Very disappointing.

This is worth the wait if there is a wait. The food is pricey. About 35 to 55 per enyre but you get high quality and many sides with that.
The bread is awesome and warm. The soup, ribs, salads, fish platter with lobster tail and king crab legs was great.
The atmosphere is truly special. A medieval tavern inside and a pato outside that has tables with flames in their centers.
Very romantic place to eat.
Its not a 5 since they charge $15 extra to split a plate with another at your table. Strange policy.
All in all worth it if you know ahead of time the cost and their strange policy. I would have asked more details but our server Stephanopoulos had a thick accent and was hard to understand.

This restaurant has it's pros and cons. It's hard to give it an overall rating because the different aspects were either really good or really bad. I'll start off by giving our waiter, Alex C, a shout-out. He was great! Another great thing I want to mention is the atmosphere. The inside is pretty dark, but the outside patio where we ate is super awesome. Each table has a propane fireplace, the chairs have a bounce to them that allow you to relax, and the background music keeps the vibe pretty chill. The front entrance has a "draw bridge" too! But sadly that's where the pros end and the cons begin.
As far as "supper clubs" go, this is probably on the low-end of quality. The food is average, but the quality is nowhere near the price they charge. I'd expect the food to be half the price. For the price I pay, I expect quality, and the quality was definitely lacking here. That's not to say it was bad. The food was good, but it wasn't great or excellent. Let's just say there are plenty of other supper clubs that have far better food.
We also encountered a bit of a strange situation while dining here. 3 members of our party ordered the Queens Prime Rib, medium-rare. When the food came out to our table, it was quite clear that the prime ribs were well done. No red to be seen, no juice, no nothing. The concerns were raised to Alex, who graciously brought them back to the kitchen to be refired and apologized on the kitchen's behalf. Shortly after, the so-called "manager" of the restaurant (unable to obtain his name) came out to address the issue. First off, I'm not even sure that this "manager" was in charge of anything, and if he was, I'm shocked. When we first walked in, I mistook him for a guest at the restaurant based on his appearance. His polo shirt was untucked, his slacks were creased and wrinkled, and he was wearing socks and flip flops. When he came out to address the food situation, I almost started laughing. But wait, it gets better. He proceeded to argue with the 3 members of my party regarding their food, stating "it looks medium-rare in our kitchen, it's just the light out here makes it look well done". He then whips out his phone to show us a picture he stated he took of the food in the kitchen to prove it. First off, how tacky is that?! Second, who knows when that picture was taken or if it was even the food from our table! Thankfully my wife, who has been a professional chef at some high-end restaurants, intervened and set the record straight about how overdone they were and how they had clearly sat under the heat lamps for too long because they burned. The "manager" stated there was no way to fix them unless they made them "rarer than rare", which the party members chose to do. The refired prime ribs were much better and actually cooked correctly the second time.
The manger was extremely unprofessional and unapologetic, and Alex had to apologize on his and the kitchen's behalf. We were shocked at how unkept and unprofessional the management here was. We didn't ask for free food or anything, just that our meals were simply cooked correctly. This manager should be fired, his behavior was completely unacceptable in the hospitality industry. The only reason this review isn't getting 1 or 2 stars is because of our server (Alex C) and the outdoor patio.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had. We had reservations at 7 and were told when we walked in that they were running about 20 minutes behind. No big deal we thought. We weren’t seated at our table until 8pm and waited at least 20 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. We ordered our food at the same time to help speed things up but at 9:45 I went to find our server. Our food arrived at 10, 3 hours from our initial reservation time. The fish was fishy tasting and the beef wellington had very little beef in it. They ran out of baked potatoes and without even telling us, served what tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. At no point did the restaurant manager come to our table and apologize for the wait nor did they offer to comp us anything. Not a drink or desert. Such a disappointing experience. Our daughter had a very similar experience the last time she visited too. Very disappointing.

My family drove by this place several times and thought it looked interesting. We made a reservation and decided to sit inside as it was windy and there were a lot of bugs flying around outside. We had a server who was new and was having difficulty understanding us, so we were patient, and hoped for the best.
Our table was right near the automatic entry door. Every time it opened, wind, cottonwood debris, and bugs came it. We were slapping mosquitos on one another it got so bad.
We ordered calamari, bruschetta, and escargot. The waiter thought I said oscar apparently and brought out a tray of rancid crab meat with some limp asparagus on top instead of escargot. I pointed it out when I realized I was not going to see the escargot. I said I no longer wanted escargot since we were done eating; but escargot showed up anyway.
I ordered a steak rare, it was medium and not good; no seasoning. My daughter ordered the lighter fare shrimp for $29.95. Five (5) insignificant shrimp were on a plate. Soggy, terrible presentation. All for a sweet price of 29.95 USD.
The manager gave us two appetizers and the bill was still $250 with tip. I generously tip as a courtesy and in this case it was the waiters first week.
That said, never ever going back to this place. New York prices, Applebee's quality.

Me, my wife and our 9 and 11 year old boys went here for dinner tonight. We asked to sit outside near one of the water features but were put in the back corner, a ways away from other patrons. We didn't say anything since we were the only ones with kids so we thought it might be for the best plus the outdoor area was really cool. We started with the calamari. Even though we ordered drinks first, our app came much sooner (not bad, but not great), drinks came a while after and in the 1-1/2 hours there, we were never offered refills. My 9 year old got the kids pasta alfredo and did not like it at all, I tried it and could not argue with him. My 11 was too old for the kids menu so he got the all you can eat fish fry, he loves seafood and didn't want to eat anything else so he could eat a lot. When it finally came, it looked good but after a while we noticed he was barely touching the fish, he eventually said it was very soggy. My wife and I both tried it and agreed. My wife got the chicken wellington and said it was really dry. We never saw our server after ordering and it was at least a half hour after our food came when another server came over and said our original waiter left sick. I told him the issues we had with the meals, he offered to bring them something else but they had already filled up on calamari, fries and bread. I was ok with the ribeye oscar I ordered and finally got a refill on my water. 1-1/2hrs later and $230 plus $30 tip lighter we were told they hope we give them another chance in the future, maybe if they would have checked with us right after the food came out. They could have redeemed themselves a little by at least offering to comp something, 3 meals barely touched. Seriously disappointed and won't be back.

When you approach the restaurant it quickly gives a different vibe than the website. It’s more medial times meets an up north supper club. The French onion soup was fine. The pork chop meal had decent flavor, but nothing out of this world. I would not suggest any of the salads. The goat cheese salad was very reminiscent of something you could make at home out of a bag. The service was very polite.

Every time we've eaten here, it has been delicious, great service, and just the right amount of fancy for Door County. Way better than their neighbor! English Inn for a great dinner!

From the moment we stepped into The English Inn, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that promised a dining experience to remember. Unlike many modern eateries where the music overpowers conversation, here the ambiance was perfectly balanced, allowing us to enjoy our table chats without raising our voices.
The service was nothing short of exemplary. Our waitress struck the perfect chord of attentiveness, ensuring our needs were met with a smile and efficiency, yet never once did she intrude upon our evening. It's a rare skill to be present just enough, and she mastered it beautifully.
As for the food, it was a delightful journey from start to finish. Each dish was crafted to perfection, with flavors that danced on the palate and left us savoring every bite. The highlight, however, was the flourless torte—a decadent treat that was the epitome of dessert perfection.
In a world where dining out can sometimes feel impersonal, The English Inn stands out as a beacon of classic hospitality and culinary excellence. It's a place not just to eat, but to dine and enjoy the finer aspects of a meal out with friends or family. We left with full bellies and warm hearts, already looking forward to our next visit.

Our experience on April 13, 2024 was a little disappointing. My Beef Wellington wasn’t as good as in the past. Wasn’t worth the price tag. I hope they recover and get back to past experiences.
