We had breakfast today. Our server, Giuseppe, was great, food was great, beautiful setting overlooking the lake. My only disappointment was the coffee. It tasted as though it had been sitting in a carafe for awhile. For a fine restaurant like this I expected better. My suggestion would be to serve fresh, not old, coffee.

We had dinner here for a party of 8 on a Friday evening. The restaurant itself has a warm feeling with nice outside seating We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival and would say that it was not very busy. Our server, Carter, greeted and welcomed us immediately and asked us if we were celebrating anything and we were - a special birthday. This is where it all went downhill.

We were served water and during this, a cup of water spilled on my left leg soaking my pants. It happens, we brushed it off. He offered to bring me another towel to dry myself. He asked if we wanted anything else to drink. No discussions of specials, recommendations, etc. We all kind of stared at each other not really knowing what was good.

Our server took our orders and from there, food did arrive timely, considering the restaurant was not busy. Our orders came out separately. 3 of our orders were served, but one of our dishes tipped over and fell all over the floor. To top it off, we ordered a pesto chicken breast dish and were given a pesto rigatoni type dish which was clearly wrong. That’s 2 mistakes. When we finally got the dropped dish remade (this was a fish dish) the brussell sprouts were undercooked. 0/3. Aside from this, the food was decent. It wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t great. For the cost of each dish, you would’ve hoped things were better, but we did enjoy the dishes that were properly served. While this is all going down, our server mistakenly slips on the floor where the dish fell. Staff comes to help mop the floor minutes later. We felt terrible for our server Carter and you can clearly tell he was likely a newer server who was left to handle this mess on his own.

Management never came by to ask how everything was nor did they come to help. It seemed as though nobody cared about our experience even though we were all in positive spirits celebrating a birthday. We understand the service industry can be difficult, but for management to know all this is going down and not follow up with us is completely unacceptable.

Towards the end, we are asked if we need anything else. Nope - we’re good. Just the check. We’re handed the check and no dessert menu, nothing of that nature by the restaurant to make up for how terrible the night while we drove 2 hours from where we live to celebrate a birthday. Extremely underwhelming. After all this, the check arrived and guess what? No comp for the wrong dish, no comp for the undercooked and dropped dish, no nothing for spilling water all over a guest leaving them soaked. Not that we were looking for anything, but the lack of awareness by the restaurant is remarkably non-existent.

As we leave, we are not spoken to by the several staff members up front. No acknowledgment, no thank you for stopping by, no “have a goodnight.” They all just stood there.

We won’t ever be back. We don’t blame the server, we blame the management for their lack of training and customer service. For our party of 8, we had one server the entire time and no one else came to check on us even though management appeared aware of the constant mishaps.

I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate anything special. It’s strictly business and food. The food is decent when it is made correctly, but that’s it. For an average or $35-$40/ dish, seek elsewhere.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.

We started with the pork belly “burnt end lollipops,” which were not burnt at all, in fact, they were still cold. What we received were simply chilled cubes of pork fat with sauce.

For my entrée, I ordered the Walleye Piccata. The fish was confusing: it had no flavor, no seasoning, and the texture was like rubber, as if it had been microwaved. The lemon caper sauce was nothing more than melted butter, the parmesan risotto was undercooked and overly salty, and the Brussels sprouts with bacon were the only thing that was passable. After three bites, I asked my wife to try the fish to confirm I wasn’t imagining things, then sent it back, something I’ve never done before in my life. The waiter’s response? “Yeah, someone ordered it yesterday and said the same thing.” Knowing it was terrible, they still served it.

I switched to the “Signature Wagyu Burger,” which arrived only after my wife had already finished her meal (an overcooked shrimp cocktail missing the salad it was supposed to come with). The burger itself was cooked well but completely underseasoned, all I could taste was an overly sweet caramelized onion topping. The “béarnaise” sauce on the side was baffling: it tasted like a strange mix of packet hollandaise, vinegar, artificial sweetener, fish sauce, and cayenne. Easily the most confusing sauce I’ve ever tried. Thankfully I hadn’t put it on the burger or it would’ve been inedible. To top it off, some of the waffle fries were still raw.

The waiter offered a free dessert, but only what we already had a coupon for. In the end, the bill was $90 for two appetizers, a soup, and one entrée.

By the end of the night, I wasn’t even angry anymore, just sad and confused. For a resort restaurant, the food quality, execution, and service were shockingly poor. This was, without question, the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.

Extremely rude and forgetful waitstaff. Server forgot soups, condiments and never offered any refills or desert and she had the audacity to add a 21% gratuity to our $350 dollar bill! Do not order the French onion soup! It was way too salty and not edible. Will not be back.

Four stars for Carter, our server. He was attentive, friendly and really good at anticipating our needs. He is a bright young man who is hard working and cares about his customers. The food is also four stars. I had lobster with pappardelle noodles. Delicious! They don’t skimp on the lobster. Two people could definitely share this meal with leftovers. My cousin had the walleye which was also wonderful. The chef brings the flavor in a beautifully made dish.

I don't leave reviews often but I feel compelled to this time. First time at 1878's to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends. The food was absolutely 5-star. The appetizer, steaks, scallops, lobster tail, and salad wedge were excellent. And so were the drinks !!!

Unfortunately, the service was bad. Yeah.... bad. I get they were short staffed in the kitchen by one person, but that doesn't explain the lack of attention to us at the table. and the empty plates piling up. Our server ghosted us, so I had to ask a bus boy to clear the empty plates. He was great.

This was a Wednesday night, no crowd, we were seated at 7 pm. It was 9:30 by the time we left. 2.5 hours for dinner.

5-star for atmosphere. Great venue, waterfront view, modern, clean, a little of everything.

Location is outrageous, views are exceptional, food is meh. None of our entrees were especially great. It was such a disappointment given how beautiful the pace is and how inspired the menu sounds. Unfortunately it just didn’t deliver. My lobster was chewy. My son had the short ribs and they were all fat, nothing was a home run. But, the service was exceptional and I could look out their windows for days.

We had a wonderful dinner tonight at 1878 on the Lake at Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan. From the moment we walked in, our server Kristine made us feel genuinely welcomed. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our entire meal.

Kristine took the time to answer all our questions about the menu, and her recommendations were absolutely spot on! You could tell she truly cared about making sure we had a great experience, and we absolutely did.

We went for dinner at 1878 On The Lake for my birthday. It was so peaceful for dinner and we had a beautiful view of the water and boating. There were several weddings off in the distance on the property but the land that Lake Lawn is built on is so vast that even with all of that happening, we still felt very peaceful where we were sitting for dinner. You could eat inside and see the view or you could sit outside with the same view..
The food (BBQ Ribs) was delicious, and the waitress Kristine K. was amazing. Kristine K. really made me feel taken care of on my birthday, she checked in many times to make sure we had everything that we needed, the order was perfect, and she offered a fantastic dessert to celebrate too!

These are a must have cooked perfectly with a light exterior crust and a tender inside that melts in your mouth. Sauce had a nice heat to it. Very flavorful. Had the Bell pepper soup was very good. Then I ordered the Prime Rib. Service was excellent. Carter did a fantastic job taking care of us. Very attentive to detail. I also overheard him offer to take a picture for a 6 top outside to remind them of a memorable experience. That’s a nice touch. Even though it wasn’t us I noticed that. Can’t believe that he just started there. With the right training this kid will go very far. He has great potential. The place is beautiful. We sat inside in the air conditioning overlooking the lake instead of out on the patio with the heat and bugs. I was very impressed on multiple levels. Wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

The food was mediocre at best. My steak was very over charred and dry even though I asked for medium rare. The service was awful, they were not even that busy and it took over 20 minutes for them to even give us water. Then after 45 minutes they finally brought the bread and they never cleared any of our plates. I was probably the worst service I have ever experienced so it really depends on your waiter. The views are nice though and the building is pretty.

We had a reservation for 7:45pm and left at 9:45 due to how incredibly slow the food came out and the long wait times. A manager checked with every table around us besides ours, multiple times due to all of the surrounding tables finishing their meal and getting re-sat. By the time my pasta got to the table it was so dry it was practically inedible. I could tell that if the food were to come out on time it would’ve been good and that only made it worse. Since we were there for so long waiting I didn’t want it remade to wait another hour for it. We were told repeatedly that the manager would come over to give us a discount but they never showed. Instead our server said the manager would comp us 20%. We got comped for 2 meals, but were charged for a meal we didn’t order only giving us a roughly 13% discount after being told it would an at least an 20% and the manager never showed. Our server was very apologetic, and did try to get the manager over.

The food was 5 stars in taste and portion. Pork belly lollipops were the best! Ordered dinner and came back the next day for lunch. Had the waygu burgers.

Atmosphere is so nice, but unfortunately the food and drink do not match. Both of the cocktails ordered tasted like they put way too much simple syrup and anything with carbonation was flat - that included our kids sodas. Food was average.

I had a wonderful dining experience June 11th . I sat outside and enjoyed the view and the beautiful atmosphere on the deck. I received wonderful hospitality and service from Kristine. She made sure I had everything I wanted and offered me all of the dining options. I ordered a simple dish of chicken and potatoes but enjoyed what was much more than anything simple!!! The chicken dish was prepared with culinary excellence by Chef Trent. It has been a long time since I have been “Wowed” by a meal that I felt compelled to inquire about the name of the Chef so I could extend my gratitude for them putting such effort and attention to a dish!! The chicken was flavorful, tender, and juicy! I am excited to visit again soon to enjoy another delicious experience!! I hope Trent will be cooking again that day!! Thanks again for extending amazing service and dinner in an industry that that has lost so much passion and care in the area ! These two people displayed the standard that the restaurant industry should thrive for!!! Keep up the fantastic work because patrons like me still have value in not just great food but more so great service and hospitality!!

This restaurant made our stay at the resort so worth it! Our server Kristine did an amazing job! She made the whole experience so much more enjoyable! She got us a sample of the soup and chef Ray absolutely killed it. I almost didn’t even want my ribs (which were also amazing) after trying the beer cheese soup! Chef even came out so we could thank him. Really can’t say enough about the place. Top notch absolutely amazing!

Wow wow wow!
We picked this place for the view (they had outdoor seating too), but we were pleasantly surprised that the service, atmosphere and food matched.

Kristine K. Was our server and I can honestly say she was the best server I’ve had in a very long time. She focused on our expand it didn’t go unnoticed.

My husband had the ribeye and I had the filet. Both steaks were cooked to perfection.

Needless to say,, we can’t wait to visit again. It might even be tomorrow it was SO good!
