Our group of 4 visited 1917 recently and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was great (we split several apps, entrees, a pizza, and several desserts), there was a surprisingly nice wine list, and the service was wonderful. We're already looking forward to going back!

I've been in three times so far for different meals. The 1917 burger, tuna, and chicken tenders all were excellent. The brussels sprouts and cheese curds have also been great. Drinks are great, and they kept them full for our groups. The atmosphere offers a few different experiences, and watching sports games in the bar was a great vibe. Go check it out!

My wife and I had a staycation. Did a night at the inn on lake wissota. Supper at 1917 on lake wissota. Supper amazing supper. Loppy and his staff where so awesome.the inn on lake wissota was amazining. We can't say enough on how mark and rachel where so awesome. If you want a chill stay with personality this is it .

Went to 1917 on Sunday for the Packer game & had a blast! The crowd it brought it was so much fun & could see the game from anywhere you sat. The bartenders were on top of making sure we always had a full drink. They had fun games going on all throughout the game & they also put out a build your own sub station at halftime, which was fresh & delicious! I would highly recommend stopping there if you are looking for somewhere to watch the Packers play!

Went on a Friday night at 7pm. First red flag was the table they sat us at wasn't clean/ready for us... there was liquid (water?) and sticky areas all over. No silverware. Asked for it to be cleaned before serving us and the waitress tried to wipe it down with a dry napkin.... only for it to get stuck / create bigger mess on our table. Food was okay, but not worth the price. Hard spaghetti, wet (fried?) Fish. Food that was likely sitting out for awhile before served to us. Everything tasted very lemon-y from the food to the drinks. Ill admit we didn't order any red meat so maybe we'll give it a second chance and try something different next time.

Went to 1917 restaurant for the first time on Friday, Aug 29th. We had reservations for 5 pm. When we arrived we were seated immediately. Jessica was our server. We ordered onion rings, both kinds of cheese curds, and our drinks. The appetizers and drinks were good. Two people ordered everyday fish and two ordered the walleye. While we waited for our dinner, the flies were terrible. They were landing on the appetizers, in our water, and on us. The everyday fish breading was soggy and not a golden brown. One walleye was over seasoned while the other was not seasoned and was not fully cooked. Jessica never came back to see if the fish was ok. We ordered dessert to go. Jessica brought our bill which had a convenience fee of 3.5%. We paid cash, she took the payment and never asked if we wanted the change back.
On Saturday, Aug 30th @ 12:46pm I called the 1917 and spoke with the hostess. Asked about the convenience fee and she said that was for credit card payments and I told her we paid cash. She said it was an oversight. Mentioned the flies and her comment was flies are bad right now. I stated that flies should not be in a restaurant. She took my name, phone number, and stated that she would give her notes to a manager who would give me a call back. As of 10:20 pm have not received that call.

UPDATE - I received a call from Tessa today (Sept 6) and we had a great conversation. We talked about all the issues. We will definitely give 1917 a second chance. Thank you Tessa!

I figured I should probably let you all inclusive on a little secret now that 1917 has been amazing me each and every time I go there! Let's start with the food...literally everything on the menu is the bomb diggity! Favorites you wonder...I have so many! Waygu sliders, Brussels sprouts, carrots, chicken tenders, prime pork...Ugh, my mouth is watering as i type this!
Service...this staff goes above and beyond for us each and every time we visit. Tessa, the GM pours her heart and sould into 1917. The passion and dedication from the owners, is next to nothing. We love the friendliness of them all as well as their dedication to us leaving extremely satisfied. Whether we are in the mood for fine dining (upstairs) or coming in off the water and relaxing on the patio and listening to the Live music...we love our 1917 extended family 🥰

Server was great, however trying to cover up for extremely poor kitchen and embarrassing operations. We waited 40 minutes for our beers (half glass beer delivered due to tap issues??) and had to request to convert to take-out after 1 hour and 35 minutes for a table of 5. Kitchen blamed lack of personnel.
This place is sad for dinner, maybe better as a pub only. Management was hiding and leaving issues and crises to servers. Embarrassing!! Model for how not to lead or support operations.

Flatbread inedible, salads not as described on the menu and inedible, wings overcooked and dried up, couldn’t eat them.
They spent a lot of money renovating but frankly it’s a revamped Edge.
We’re hoping that in three months when we return they’ll have a new chef, knowledgeable servers and greeters that smile and make you feel welcome.

My husband had the haddock, way to much batter. I had the shrimp & lobster roll. Was pretty good till I saw the large hair on my plate. They offered me a cup of soup. They did make a good bloody mary. We probably won't be going back anytime soon.

Went to 1917 this last weekend as everyone has been raving about it so wanted to give it a try. I was nothing but impressed. The friendliest staff I have ever met. Our server Maddy was one of the best we’ve had in a long time, she took the time to have conversations with us and thoroughly explain things. The food was great, crab and lobster dip was a big hit at our table and my ribeye was cooked great. Would definitely recommend trying!

Nice location, a little buggy due to the time of year. Came with my family, normally it's decent. Last time, would have been a week ago, ordered the battered cheese curds as an appetizer, they came out 20 seconds before our meal. A bit overcooked since they were so hard on the outside my kids didn't even want them which normally they love cheese curds. Kids meals here are hit or miss. My entree, the chicken bucatini, wasn't what everyone raves about. It reminded me more of some expensive ramen. The chicken on it was great, but took the rest home to not make the server feel bad.

We went to see a band on a Saturday evening and it was great! The bartenders were great, the music was fabulous and fun, the patio area had plenty of seating and there was room to dance and enjoy being with friends.

Finally tried 1917 and it did not disappoint! We had great food and great service - our group of 8 adults all got our meals at the same time and everyone enjoyed their food. We tried the Crab Rangoon flatbread as an appetizer and the Cauliflower - both were unique in the best way! I had the 1917 Burger and would 10/10 recommend. Our server Jaynee (hoping I spelled that right) was very attentive and had great recommendations!

Boated in and not enough dock cleats to tie off our boat properly. We're told to sit outside or in downstairs bar as that's where boaters are supposed to be. Server was great and apologized for upstairs bar staff being rude. Womens bathrooms had no trash cans and used feminine hygiene products we placed on top of toilet paper dispenser.. appetizer we got was decent but for the small amount I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. 4 drinks and the appetizer was $45 before tip. Seemed steep for what we got. I messaged the page directly and felt like my concerns were simply dismissed with their response. No acknowledgement or apology for how staff treated patrons. Sad that the welcoming atmosphere from the Edge was lost and some of the staple menu items that many I know including myself are missing. Follow up to thw review. I posted a comment from the resturant was condescending and another was rude and name calling.

Wow, our first time! Very impressed from the moment we walked in the door - hostess friendly and seated us immediately at a table with a view (note- we did have reservations). The interior gave a contemporary vibe. We treated ourselves to their old-fashioned drinks, awesome! We choose to start with their classic cheese curds. Truly, the best cheese curds in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Valley - freshly battered and salted to perfection! Our table ordered wings, salad, walleye cakes, French dip, and they 1917 burger. Everything was full of flavor from the first bite until the last. I was celebrating my birthday, and they offered me a free dessert, of course, I chose the chocolate cake with four spoons to share! When the candle was lit, it flamed with sparks, a perfect way to end a wonderful evening. Thank you!

I want to start off and say the service was good. Everyone was very polite. The food and drinks were very subpar. The Margherita Flatbread had a total of 1 basil leaf on the entire thing. The Caprese salad was not made as listed on the menu.. it was good. But it was just tomatoes and pesto with very little burrata and basil. Not a traditional caprese salad at all. Lastly, we paid $10 for a “blood Mary” that is pictured below. I truly don’t know what went wrong, I don’t think it even had Clamato in it. It seemed hectic in there and bar staff was busy so my boyfriend just drank it.

Be prepared to WAIT for everything… we had a party of 6, was there around 2pm on a Saturday. Dining room was empty but a lot of people on the patio. Servers need better training and the bar is VERY understaffed for the size. There is a ton of staff but service is very slow- nice but slow. We were seated right away waited about 15 minutes to put in a drink order which took 20 min to come to the table. Had both types of cheese curds. Original way better than the square ones. There is no regular ranch dressing only garlic ranch. Menu needs better explanations - had the avocado BLT. Description did not mention bacon, it did have bacon but It did not have tomato… bacon was good, Smokey flavored. Chicken pecan salad did not say the salad was warm, chicken was less than 2 ounces and little to no pecans. Sliders were great. Truffle fries were soggy. Chips were great! View was fun watching people dock boats:) prices were ok. Expected for the location. Train the servers to hustle and clear tables as dishes pile up… we started putting dishes on another table… server did not catch the hint… would go back, just for drinks and the view

On a summer day, got an experience outside near the lake. The customer service was kind. The food was very filling and delicious. The 1917 burger was awesome and the flatbread pizza was a big surprise as to how great it was. My only nitpick is that the root beer could've used some ice. In conclusion, the beer-battered cheese curds were the best curds!

I will preface this with saying my boyfriend and I both have years of expereicne in the restaurant industry and I REALLY wanted to like it here. It's 4 minutes from my house and the area is in desperate need for some better quality food. However, I was extremely disappointed. First, I ordered a grey goose lemonade. Shouldn't be difficult to make. Well, what I got was dirty water and vodka. It tasted horrible. I had everyone at my table taste it and everyone agreed. Second, I ordered the filet rare-med rare. It came out and not only did it have NO SEASONING it was well done. No pink in the middle at all. I sent it back and asked them to remake it. This one came back and it was still well done. At this point everyone else was done eating so I had to accept it. My boyfriend got a ribeye and he said it was the worst steak he's ever had. Again, no seasoning and the steak was very thin. The sides didn't even have salt. They did give us $25 off for the filet fiasco, which was fine, they should've comp'd the entire thing....even if the filet was cooked right, the bill at the end still was not worth even close to what we got. I had high hopes for this, but I would not come back.

Man, this food was damn good! Wissota has been dying for “the edge” to be good for forever and we couldn’t have been more impressed with the food. I got the 1917 burger which was 9.5/10 and my wife got a BLT Avocado sandwich and she said “it has soooo much flavor”. All in all, bravo and we will definitely be back again.

Nice patio overlooking the lake. Went at lunch time just before the rush. Had the cucumber lemonade and the peanut butter cocktail. The lemonade was all syrup and the cocktail wasn't my thing but I'm glad I tried it. The server was having an off day, very nice but forgot to put in the main food and got a side wrong. We ordered the house burger and the fish tacos. Both were good. The hostess gave a great suggestion on the carrot app. Would get that again. Nice spot would give it one more try.

Food was decent. Waitress let us know we were her first table ever. She was completely a sweet-heart. I give her 5 stars. The food was decent, we were first brought the wrong order (another tables). When we finally got our food, it was a little chilled, but decent. You can tell it had been sitting awhile. I think it would have been really good had our waitress had some help and direction. She even said she didn't think that was ours, but was told to go to our table with it. What kind of bothers me is the wait it took to get food in the first place. There was one other table in the dinning room and a few people in the bar TONS of wait staff, and what appeared to be a manager/head chef who was really loud (wearing a black chefs coat) talking to another guy. They seemed to be enjoying themselves while we just sat there waiting for our food, then just sitting there with the wrong food. No one came up to even apologize, I felt really sorry for this young waitress. I hope the other table was as understanding. I have been in the service industry for years....I would never let a young, new waitress out on her own, let alone when there is a mess up with the food.

My husband and I went for dinner. I got the mushroom gnocchi and he got the walleye. Both had cilantro that was not called out on the menu. A herb that 30% of people taste like soap for should be called out and also has no place in an Italian inspired dish. My husbands fish was ok, but way over salted. My gnocchi were completely undercooked and raw in the inside. Our service was not good but it seemed to be isolated to our waitress. The other waitresses seemed very nice and attentive. I would not recommend.

Friday night, very busy. Booked a 7:15pm reservation for 6 guests. Waited until 7:35pm before inquiring on extended wait time and was told they had used our reserved table for additional guests that showed up with a different party and it would be at least another 30 minutes. Was not willing to wait an hour past our reservation time if not longer. Chose to leave and find food elsewhere. I understand the business is new but the process and simple communication needs to be addressed. Menu looked good but can not rate much not giving the opportunity. What a shame.

I asked for our server and was sent Imara who was not our assigned server, but she took care of us and she was outstanding. 1917 deserves a great review just on the commitment they have shown already in bringing an elevated dining experience to Lake Wissota.

The investments in the facility, staffing, boating facilities have been impressive! New docks, better boat fueling! More staff than ever! Dining room updates! The commitment the new owners have made to making the experience there memorable in every aspect is what has me excited!
