Our dining experiences last weekend were superb. Every meal exceeded expectations for quality, originality, and presentation. Caden, our server, was fantastic. Right mix of personableness and professionalism. Looking forward to our next two trips this summer.

Food here is great, however, I’m completely shocked at the two rude calls I just experienced. I usually like going here but called ahead to ask a question about options and was told β€œI’m too busy for this” and was hung up on. I called back to ask to speak to a manager and was told too busy and I said β€œyou were very rude to me and just hung up on me” to which I received a β€œthen no I won’t take a phone number to call back and was hung up on again”. That’s not acceptable.

I’ve been a server for 15+ years and have worked busy days- it takes no extra effort to not be rude and to not hang up on someone. On my busiest days and when faced with the rudest calls I never have hung up on someone when they were mid sentence. Especially if they were asking a genuine question. The correct response should have been β€œno I’m sorry we can’t do that, do you need anything else? No? Okay have a nice day” … in case you were wondering.

Saw great reviews for 400 Springs, and thought it would convenient since we were staying at the House on the Rock Resort. Looks like positive reviews are mainly for breakfast - dinner was not as good an experience. There was limited wait staff so waited a long time for service. Food was overcooked and overpriced. Better restaurants at similar price points or less available in town!

This place is great. The best part is that it wasn't busy! I'm not sure why, because the food was great. It's got some old supper club vibes going on but with the menu of a modern high end restaurant in the city. And you get the view of the golf course. Would (and will) recommend to friends.

Great food, awesome view, waitress was on top of everything yet wasn't a bother in the slightest, other staff seemed competent and friendly as well.

400 Springs Restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Dawn and Drew came up with a custom breakfast buffet menu for my wedding brunch that included french toast with a giant bowl of fresh whipped cream and berries, the best bacon I have ever had, sausage links, scrambled eggs, yogurt and granola, and their special autumn hash (pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash with apple cider reduction which was HEAVENLY!). The food was even better than I imagined, and Dawn went above and beyond on the day to make sure everything was perfect. We also ate dinner there a couple of times and everything we ordered was delicious. Wish I lived in Spring Green WI to eat there all the time!

I just cannot say enough good things about 400 Springs. The service and food are just the best. Not to mention the view. I am from Madison and cannot think of any place that beats these things. Just cannot praise this place enough.

They are trying to be fine dinning but falling short. Had the Welsh Rarebit Fondue as an app. It was literally beer cheese soup and some stodgy bread squares. Not good. Sadly I ate it and filled myself up on that instead of the lovely Cuban pork roast. The dehydrated plantains were amazing. The couscous was tasty but overcooked. The veggies weren't cooked at all. Ordered the Bavarian Cream Napoleon for desert. The mille-feuille was soggy. They are asking for fine dinning prices for substandard food. Sadly, I would not go back.

400 Springs has limited serving hours, but we were there over a weekend so it was open for both breakfast and dinner. I found it a little odd that reservations were required, as the resort was not busy, but that may have had to do with staffing. The prices were a little high (for our tastes) but since we decided to share appetizers, it was reasonable for dinner. The stuffed mushrooms were wonderful - stuffed with cream cheese and sausage that is made in-house. And the crab cakes were also very good - almost all crab meat (as opposed to some others I've had that was mostly filler). Staff was friendly and attentive.

There house sausage and biscuits and gravy was the best I've ever had and that's my favorite thing to always get anywhere they have it. They where short staffed to we had to wait longer but they where super nice about it and our server did a fantastic job by herself

Generous portions, rightly cooked breakfast food, which we had for lunch. Their ham steak was good but I recommend their house sausage. It's probably among the best sausage patties I've tasted in the whole country!! πŸ†πŸ†

It was our first time visiting 400 Springs Restaurant. We went for breakfast after a friend referred us and we were very impressed with the whole experience. The restaurant is located on the House On The Rock Resort & Golf Course. The drive to the restaurant takes you through the winding road through the golf course and when you get to the restaurant, you see the wonderful Frank Loyd Wright architectural design. The breakfast menu was filled with several appealing options, the volume of the meals was aplenty, the servers were very polite, the prices were fair, and the food was very good. We looked at thethe dinner menu when we were leaving and that looked amazing too. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I love this restaurant, usually eat breakfast on Sunday, I like the Farmers with house sausage, hash browns are so delicious. Finally had dinner there tonight, had the Cowboy strip steak, medium with Yukon mashed and vegetable medley. Perfection, portions are large. Pricey but worth it.

First time there. A little hard to find, but worth the effort. Just a really great breakfast and service was very good. We will go back the next time we're hear. Probably, will be Oct., but we will let others know.
Hope we get to try a dinner.

Probably the closest to a home-cooked breakfast you could get away from home. The farmers scramble was savory with its combination of freshly grated cheese, house gravy, eggs, hash browns and onions. Presentation was beautiful. Definitely coming back next time we visit. If you are staying at the resort or nearby, you MUST try the breakfast here. Staff was very friendly and kind too.

Be sure to call ahead and book reservations!! I had the Spaetzle Stroganoff and my husband ordered the Cowboy Strip steak. Both entrΓ©es were delicious. The Cowboy Strip Steak meal was outstanding- a tender, juicy NY strip topped with bourbon onion marmalade and served with creamy mashed potatoes and veg. Alas, we would not recommend the Chocolate Mousse with Chantilly cream and Strawberries dessert. The chocolate mousse was reminiscent of jello or Swiss miss hot chocolate packets and topped with one single strawberry sliced into 5-6 pieces. Hence, knocking down one star as it was an unfortunate way to end an otherwise delicious meal.

Visited by locals and guests of the resorts, this place is a lovely hidden jem. The food is fantastic, the portions are hearty and the flavors amazing. The pancakes and cornbeef hash are out of this world. The stroganoff, to die for. Service is great. Dawn and her staff are friendly and attentive. We stayed at the resort and dined at the restaurant for 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners every meal was outstanding!!

So happy to have found this place! Ate dinner one night and returned for breakfast the next day. :) Excellent food, more upscale - which is a nice change of pace, and in a beautiful resort that's tucked away. Really though, the food is DELISH! Very nice staff as well. I'll be back again and again!

Sunday Brunch at 400 Springs was spectacular! Pancakes are lighter than air buttered with a custard like cream. My Smoked Salmon Florentine was as wonderful as it looked with perfectly poached eggs on English muffins. They serve the best Bloody Mary ever! The generous slice of cake was incredibly moist and very chocolate. It’s never fast food, but very reasonable. Beautiful and safe environment! Very special!

They have some work to do. Dinner service was friendly but quite slow. When our meals arrived, the roast chicken was very good, but the barbecued pork was cold. When I pointed this out, the server pleasantly took it and 60 seconds later it was returned, microwaved. Breakfast was priced reasonably, but they were very under-staffed, so we did a lot of sitting with no coffee or food. Pretty decent buffet.
