Have heard very good things about the fish fry so we tried that in late June and really enjoyed it. Definitely felt the quality was good enough that we'd go back. Went again tonight (mid-August) and got the same thing (combo of 2 deep friend shrimp, 2 perch, 2 haddock w/ rye bread, coleslaw, choice of potato). Wow...what a difference. This was NOT good at all. The best way to describe the fish is that it made us think that it had been made on Wednesday and then reheated when we ordered it on Friday. Probably the worst fish I've ever had at a fish fry, which leaves us wondering....do we try it again because our first experience was good, or is it a risk? I really don't know.

Servers have been very nice both times, but if it's busy, it takes them a while to get back to you due to not having enough staff. Atmosphere and reputation is "biker bar", so we were pleasantly surprised on our first visit that it wasn't like that at all. Somewhat busy on second visit and we were told our orders could take 45 minutes, but we actually received our food in about 15 minutes. (Was I right about reheating it? Did you actually do this anticipating big crowds because of the county fair?)

Overall. . .we aren't sure what to think. We aren't sure if we'll go back. We aren't sure which experience was an anomaly. 4 stars for the staff because they are very nice and prices are affordable. Everything else remains a question mark.

Popped over from a friends recommendation for a charity ride. Fell in love with the cute ol truck in the parking lot and the kind folks that greeted me upon walking in. Cute little spot with plenty of seating. I ate lite. Their homemade soup is amazing. Definitely a place I would visit again while in the area.

Aside from the great food, the amazing people at 6th Gear welcomed our group of 8 looking for a very late dinner and place to reset after having a tornado rip through our little neighboring town, leaving us with no power. Even though we walked in after they were scheduled to end serving, they were more than welcoming. Burgers were amazing too!

I've been going to 6th Gear since the current owner purchased it literally right before covid hit & made tough times for the restaurant industry. Let me just start with saying everyone here is friendly. They are a small crew (just like my own business) so I immediately want to give business to a fellow small business. The owner goes above & beyond to give back to his community by holiday meals, poker runs for charities, etc. The amount of customers these guys & girls move in & out of this place is crazy sometimes but they all handle it efficiently!! The food is always good ! Just this week I had a wrap from there, not one day but 2 days 😂. When we order lunch for our office during the week it's always 20 minutes from ordering to pick up time (which for fresh food I think it awesome time 👌) . The staff can get busy at times but all my requests have always been handled even if I go on a Friday for their amazing fish fry. Keep up the great work Joel, Cindy & the rest of the crew 👍!!!

Waited over an hour for food. Fish fry was mediocre and the rest of the food was just ok. Service was terrible. Only two waitresses in the whole place that also never checked on us, so we were constantly waiting for absolutely everything. Manager was rude. Better Fish Fry in the area for sure.

My wife and I wanted somewhere different and decided to try 6th Gear. The people who work there were very friendly as we walked in. We ordered our drinks which were brought right away. We then decided to order an Island burger and fries. The burger patty is a half pound and was cooked perfectly. Very juicy!! My wife can be a little picky but she was so impressed that she wants to make it our go to place.. No question, will definitely be going again!

Was there last Friday evening for fish fry. Got a table in 10 minutes, which was great considering we’d been told it might be a half hour wait. Had a good SoCo Old Fashioned and ordered the haddock. Unfortunately it took over an hour and a half to get our food. Staff was somewhat apologetic, however we were charged full price for everything, including another round of drinks which we only ordered because of waiting so long for our dinner order. I’d expect a restaurant/bar in Wisconsin on a Friday night could do better. Very disappointing.

First time here. Was a Friday night. We were a party of 6. Place was busy but not standing room. Got a table right away. Drinks were good. Food was good. Prices were decent. Some foodies in our group didnt approve of it much but rest of us liked it. Service was definitely slow to say the least and seemed disorganized. Excellent small WI dive bar. Clean, lots of seating, and excellent food. We hit the friday lunch rush, and our server was awesome with getting to everyone despite her covering the bar and the tables. Menu has a bit extra variety too. I had walleye, and my wife had the ribeye sandwich. Both items had great portions and were cooked well. You could almost cut the ribeye with a fork. Great experience.

Bartender was absolutely terrible, very rude & unprofessional. She looked at our empty drinks many times and ignored us. Asked for a Bloody Mary and she huffed and puffed. Fish was flavorless. First time my wife and I have ever eaten here. She had a chicken sandwich she described as “hot and the juiciest” she’s ever had. I had a Western Burger that was all flavor. Fries were crispy and fresh. Our waitress was very sweet, and the cook came out and chatted with us as well. Will definitely return.

Steer Clear of 6th Gear LLC!
The food fell short of average. I had a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and my wife had a BLT. It's kind of hard to screw up bar food. The menu prices are high for what you get and they charge for every condiment. 50 cents for a half leaf of lettuce and a butt slice of tomato. The food took foreeeeever!!! We waited about 75 minutes from the time our order was taken until it was served. There was a party of 9 that was about to be served as we were seated and two parties of 2 whose orders had already been taken. Insanely slow service.
I was appalled that they charged $2.00 for each refill of my fountain drink (I had 3). Who does that? It's a fountain drink for crying out loud! Every restaurant and bar I've been to offers free refills. What's worse is that they pack a 12oz. glass full of ice before they add maybe 5 or 6 ounces of soda. I managed a restaurant and can tell you that fountain mix, at pennies per glass, is one of the least expensive/highest profit margin supplies they stock.
As for atmosphere... It's a biker bar! They have an old "Harley Davidson" propped up in the corner. It's not even a REAL Harley. It's an AMF for Pete's sake.
Needless to say, our overall experience was very disappointing. We paid over $30 for 2 mediocre sandwiches, a side of fries and a fountain drink. Now that makes an overpriced McDonalds Big Mac meal seem like a good deal!

Decent experience… Until a waitress literally came and SCREAMED at me for taking off my toddler shirt because she spilled water all over it. We were in the dining room section and there was ONE other table across the room with a middle-aged couple at it (it’s 3pm!!!). My back was to this couple, and they were at least 20 feet away from us. There is no way that they could even see me taking off my toddler shirt. I turned around and asked the waitress… “So where am I supposed to change my child, you have no changing room and your bathroom???” And she then proceeded to again SCREAM across the dining room that her boss was going to get a changing table. Ummm what?! if they had a changing table… Why would they not have it in the bathroom to begin with? And why would they not just come over and have a conversation with me saying… “Hey, I see you guys both have children, we are going to take a changing table into the bathroom in case if you need to use it”. When she walked away, I apologized to the couple at the table across the dining room from us, and they said… “It’s absolutely no big deal. I don’t know why she went out of her way to make you feel uncomfortable”. My mind is completely blown right now… What a horrible ending to a decent experience for the first time at this restaurant.
