Somehow, we had never been at Aberdeen until last Friday, when we celebrated my birthday there.

Frankly, we had high expectations and they were exceeded (hard to do!). Kathy had the salmon, I had the walleye, it was wonderful, two large fillets, piping hot! Kathy was crazy about her brownie dessert.

My sense is that the fact that the owner is on site and present in the dining room makes all the difference in maintaining a very high standard.

There was a lot of talk about how awesome this place was. And everything I heard was wrong. We came here to have fish. Fish was not very good. The service was subpar. But I do have to say the desert which was bread pudding was absolutely fantastic although it took them 30 minutes to to receive this wonderful wonderful bread pudding.

Aberdeen’s has always been our favorite when we come up here but last night was a little disappointing. The service and staff were excellent but the menu changed significantly. Not many choices that didn’t include odd sauces. Missed the salmon and filet. The mushroom soup as always was delicious. The baked walleye was fishy and dry.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Aberdeen Lodge in Manitowish Waters and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and organized, the service ran smoothly, and the food was very good.

The setting was relaxed and welcoming—perfect for bringing our families together the night before the wedding. And the espresso martinis were a definite highlight!

Larry greeted us at the front desk, and were seated right away, in the screen porch. Beautiful view. Jenna took great care of us. Cocktails were delicious and strong. I had the Tuna, and my husband had the filet. I appreciated that I could get fresh delicious veggies as my side. We have visited several times over the past few months, and each time has been pleasant. We will be back to this hidden gem again!

Recommended by our accommodations for the night, this place was very impressive! From the wooded drive to arrive at the restaurant, to the beautiful building, friendly staff, owner Larry walking around to check on everyone, bussing tables and more to the lake view - this exceeded our expectations for a one night stay dinner in this town while passing through on vacation.
We had delicious cheese curds, New Glarus drinks, blackened walleye with tasty green beans and rice (like the best wild rice you’ve ever had), then cran-brûlée for dessert. The bill was very reasonable/less than we expected and I cannot praise this establishment enough. Thank you!

Disappointed. Host did not seem warm or welcoming upon arrival. We asked if we could sit at the bar and were met with a shrug and uncertainty about whether we'd be served there which is strange as he might be the owner.

The bartender was CLEARLY stressed and rude and gave patrons a hard time with their drink orders. At one point, she yells DAMMIT I'm doing a job for three people.

Word to management, if your staff seems stressed or unable to do their basic responsibilities please look into providing a better enviornment.

What a fantastic experience! Everything was top notch. Our server, Maddie, made the evening extremely enjoyable!

The food was excellent. We shared the Grilled Romaine Wedge that was very tasty. The shrimp and grits special was amazing. The best I have had in some time. My wife had the Wisconsin "Old Fashioned" Tuna and said it was excellent. Finished the meal with Lori's Bread Pudding and highly recommend it.

What can I say, Larry really outdid himself. The evening started with the kindest greeting from Larry himself. With one extra added to our party of previously 11, our host was happy to accommodate. We started with fresh out of the oven bread that was exceptional. We then tried the Hungarian mushroom soup which one member of our party said “I would love to be buried in this soup”. The prime rib was the fan favorite as many of us opted for the “king” size. From the local paintings, the stuffed black bear, and beautiful glass windows, the decor enhanced the experience. Will definitely be coming back for years to come.

I Love coming here when I’m up from down south, but thought it was terrible that spent $84 for my self to eat! They did not offer a salad with my meal that was already $39. I had to pay an extra $6 and it a poor salad. Not even good greens and had nothing but tiny piece of chopped tomatoes and very tiny croutons. I run a supper club and we never charge extra for a salad with a Sat night or any night for that matter dinner. $13 for a dessert. They gave me that to go as I requested and I received a very small corner piece that was hard, I left a $16 tip as our waitress was wonderful. Food was good except for salad and dessert. My friends had a big meal and bill also and no soup was offered with the meal either, and had to pay extra for that too. I don’t understand what is going on there. I’ve never been to a supper club anywhere where you didn’t get your choice of a super salad with a meal? Because of this, I don’t think we will be back if I’m going out to dinner I want my full dinner and I want everything included.

To start out the night the bartender was not very friendly. Next we were all excited about the meal. We had our minds made up what we were going to eat!!!! I had chosen the prime rib and my wife was going to order the ribs. As far as the loaded potatoe soup. Absolutely wonderful!!!! The waitress also Wonderful!!!!! The prime rib ☹️Tough to cut, chewy!I was not very happy and I’m not one to complain. My wife’s ribs the bottom part of the ribs were good unfortunately the top of the ribs were very very DRY! I tried to soak them in my Au ju which didn’t help either ☹️ I’m just passing this on to the owner. Maybe it was a fluke But we probably won’t be back!

We made reservations for a large group for my birthday. The staff had our table ready when we arrived 20 minutes early and seated us immediately. We all had aps and several rounds of drinks. The food was outstanding. The dill salmon was amazing. My husband had the grilled shrimp and said they were grilled to perfection. The staff was nice enough, very busy so not overly attentive and nice, but nice enough. We would go back for sure.

The restaurant is very welcoming with medium lighting and beautifully mainained knotty pine walls. Parking is a bit hodgepodge; so grab a spot when you get somewhat close to the entrance. Jill provided exceptional service. They always have Hungarian soup on the menu and it's a great starter. My grandson and I tried the smoked chicken and rice soup. It was thick and flavorful. We would definitely order it again. My husband ordered the Saturday night special prime rib. It honestly wea just OK. Nor as flavorful as some others we've had and it didn't melt in the mouth like prime should. His baked potato and green beans were good. I had the Spanish Pork. Perfectly cooked and seasoned pork tenderloin over Spanish rice and topped with a jalepeno cream sauce had the perfect blend of flavors. The other 3 at the table had the walleye special which was two blackened fillets covered with a creamy spinach sauce served with wild rice. All three loved it and I admit I stole a bite off my grandson's plate and it was delicious. We ended the meal sharing two orders of the bread pudding. My advice is to save a little room and try it yourself!

It was our first time going here in the few years we lived up here, and I would go back in a heartbeat. Every place we tried on a busy Saturday was booked up and we called Aberdeen and there was no reservation needed- and walk ins are first come first served. It wasn't too busy where we arrived and we got seated right away. Kali was our server and did a phenomenal job. Our drinks were made well, salad was great, and prime rib was to die for with the tasty auju sauce. To top it off, we ordered the cran-brulee which was excellent and gone within minutes.

Kudos to the owner for keeping such a clean restaurant and bar! When every place is booked up in the busy summer, you know how to attract a crowd and new customers. Thank you for being open and available. I highly recommend Aberdeen for any type of occasion and for all ages!

Service was great, food was delicious! The pace of service was spot on. My husband got the Ahi Tuna and loved it. I got the Spanish Pork, excellent! Prices are reasonable and would absolutely go back again!!

Really enjoyed this restaurant... the baked walleye dinner was delicious as was the Hungarian mushroom soup. Prices were reasonable and staff friendly. Would have given 5 stars, but the kitchen was slow in getting our orders out at the same time.

Proper old fashioned and fish fry with great service. The onion straws hit the spot as an app and my 1/2 lbs of perch fry was meaty, breaded and fried perfect.
