Eau Claire and Winona Acoustic Cafés are great, good food, friendly service, and a welcoming vibe. Menomonie, though, is a nightmare. Every time I’ve gone, the older woman with glasses and sometimes a bandana has been shockingly rude and unpleasant to customers. Her attitude ruins the whole experience. Until management fixes this, I’ll stick to the other locations.

It’s honestly unbelievable how one employee can drag down an entire business. She’s consistently short, dismissive, and makes you feel like you’re a burden for even being there. Menomonie deserves better customers shouldn’t have to brace themselves for rudeness just to grab a meal.

The food is the only reason I continue to come here. If any other sandwich shop made hoagies like they do at Acoustic, I would happily relieve the manager of the burden of tending to her customers in a customer service position. I would happily buy a couple bottles of the special sauce a month if it meant never having to interact with her again.

Genuinely, this woman seems livid and indignant that any customer dares to occupy her precious space in a customer service establishment. Will ask "to-go" customers who sit down to wait if they're staying or leaving (oh well, we were gonna eat part of it here and then leave so you wouldn't have to deal with us getting our food wrapped up to go, but I guess you don't want customers inside of your customer service establishment?)

All the other employees are sweet and kind, and every single one of them seems to be having the most stressful day of their lives if she's behind the counter with them. I've seen this cafe on busy days without the manager and busy days with, and the busy days with always seem substantially more high-stress despite these employees being perfectly able to deal with a rush.
The two stars for the service are for every other worker there, and the missing three are for the management. Make this place order-ahead-and-carryout only if you don't want to be in customer service, but you're making your staff miserable and your customers uncomfortable and unwelcome for a job you don't even seem to want or like.

I was not impressed. It has been a very long time since I have been to this place, but I don't think I'll be back. Amy husband and son ordered 1/3 hoagies, which were half the size they used to be. I ordered a salad whi c h was 8.50 just for a couple handfuls of veggies. I added meat and cheese for 1.50 and it.came with a small scrap of roast beef. I understand costs are rising, but.this is pathetic..They will definitely not be back unless they decide to improve.

Food and coffee is great, I really enjoy their specialty lattes, but the manager there is consistently rude and to be honest I don't know how she's still employed there. We were rushed through our ordering process and she even rushed the poor elderly man in front of us, answering his questions very rudely. I asked for a to-go cup because we weren't sure how long we were staying and I was convinced to use a glass cup because of "waste". The glass cup I received was broken and had the glass shard had sunk to the bottom of my cup. I was very lucky I noticed it before I drank too much of my coffee. The other employees were very apologetic and replaced my coffee with a disposable cup but no refunds... Could have been a very dangerous coffee trip.

Best turkey hoagies ever! I went to college in this town twenty years ago and we still drive down from the twin cities for these sandwiches as a special treat in the summer! When I tell my family we’re going they all want the turkey hoagies too! So we load up on them and every gets super excited!😆 Also great French and Italian sodas too (especially the coconut French soda)! Mmmmm!!! 😋

Employees consistently rude every visit I’ve had. We were standing back to read the menu and the lady yells at us to move forward… sorry we’re trying to see what we want…? I’ve been yelled at by their employees for not knowing they didn’t have medium size drinks, not knowing what came on a sandwich, etc. Incredibly rude. sandwiches are solid, girl at the counter was so rude that we wont be returning. i have been stopping here for lunch anytime i have to go into wisconsin for many many years, since i was a kid. I was excited to show the spot to my wife. the girl that took our order was very rude, and we were going to brush it off as a one off situation. we have worked customer service, we know it can be grating to be in a position that deals with the public. when our order was finished the same girl called it out—we had ordered a whole sandwich and a half, so i asked her if it was ours as she had called out that two full size sandwiches were ready. she was super rude again! we love to support small businesses, but not if we are going to be met with eye rolls and snottiness. maybe she has an issue with the lgbt community? we aren’t sure what else the issue could have been. either way, it’s a shame, this used to be such a solid lunch spot!

We came to town for a college basketball game and we were so excited to eat here. Having lived in Winona for years, the Acoustic Cafe is a place we loved to eat. We arrived at 6:15 pm and were informed that they stopped serving soup at 6:00 pm (closed at 7:00 pm). Hard to imagine stopping to serve 1/3 of your menu early. The guy working the counter was rude-the hoagie was good. Overall a very disappointing experience.

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. My husband stopped in to get us some sandwiches and what he brought home was a fricking joke! They would not alter my sandwich at all. I wanted alfalfa sprouts instead of lettuce and absolutely would not! So my husband brought home a plain sandwich, only meat… well if you want to call what I had was meat, which it was supposed to have ham, salami, and Corned breef. More like a bread sandwich! For the price this is absolutely ridiculous! They should be ashamed.

Really enjoyed my visit to this Cafe. The food was delicious and affordable. The selections were very clear. The chili had beans which is not something I do for my chili but it was still very tasty. The hoagie bread was so soft and fresh. My boys had the nachos which they enjoyed. Gluten free wrap which my wife was able to enjoy. Three large hot mochas to finish the meal was a great finishing treat to a wonderful meal. Almost forgot the vegan muffin we enjoyed with the mochas. Very good. Being from Texas the chili with beans was definitely something different but I was impressed that the chili had a great taste and was not sweet.

I went to UW Stout for one semester back in the fall of 2010…and even now, 14 years later, every time I’m in the area I always ALWAYS make a detour to come to The Acoustic because it is SO GOOD. I always get a hot hoagie to eat while there, and a cold hoagie to take with me! Love this place!

Went in to grab a beverage and do some homework. When my girlfriend went up to the counter to ask if she could get the wifi password and was immediately met with the question "What are you gonna buy?". She answered that she was not going to buy anything as I had bought something and very rudely the lady working told my girlfriend that my purchase was not enough and very rudely said "This isn't a library". The place was not packed and there were many tables open so we were doing no harm. This experience was very unpleasant and was embarrassing to get called out like that and in such a rude manner. The lady in the beanie with brown dreads underneath and glasses has no customer service skills. She even glared us down as we left the establishment immediately. This is also not the first time she has been rude with customers as we told our friends about this, they immediately knew what lady we were talking about and shared their poor experiences they had with her. Very disappointed.

For our cozy little cafe, it has been a staple in Menomonie that we love and adore. I recently got a coffee and decided to be adventurous, so I went for the cashier's favorite. I ended up ordering the Mexican Mocha. It was spicy-good! There's a bit of cayenne, cinnamon, and smooth mocha for a sweet finish. This place has gone to the dogs. I've been a customer for about 25 years and it has never been a bad experience until the last year or two. I came in 3 times this summer and each time the hoagie has been a dry, thin shadow of its former self, the big lady with brown dreads has been rude, and the place was almost empty. If you order a half a hoagie, you'll get a fourth, and there will be almost nothing on it. That awful lady will give you the feeling that you dared to enter her cafe, and then she'll go on to make the saddest war ration sandwich without apology or embarrassment. I'd actually like my 43 bucks back from yesterday when I ordered 2 sandwiches, a tiny soup, and drinks for my husband and child. The filling was pretty much missing and I wish I had taken a photo. I hope she didn't take any of the tip I gave to the nice young person who took the order. I won't be giving any more money to this Acoustic Cafe, and I urge others to save yourselves and eat somewhere else.

I’ve been coming here for a very long time and I’ve always loved it. I recently moved and my family and I wanted to have a very nice meal out at acoustic. As soon as we walked in it was 5:20pm. (We understand closing hours have changed to 6pm, yet they are still not closed.) My boyfriend tried using the bathroom right when we got inside and the bigger lady, brown hair with dreads told him that he could not use the bathroom because it was closed since they were closing soon. Which I get that but we were there 40 min before closing. Then I had ordered a ham sandwich, and my boyfriend order two turkey sandwich’s. Once we received our food we both started eating and he thought his tasted different and he had gotten ham instead of turkey. My sandwich had NO sauce on it whatsoever so we both went up to try to get our food fixed. Again the bigger lady with dreads repeatedly told us that he ordered two ham instead of turkey and that extra sauce for me would cost. As a loyal costumer in the past I’ve never once had an issue going up because something was wrong with my order. Also I’ve never had this problem until her. She was super rude the second we got in. When he wanted to get his sandwich fixed she told him since it was past 5:30 him and our family couldn’t dine and finish our food. Even though she messed up on our order, didn’t ever get sauce for my sandwich because I shouldn’t have to pay for sauce that should’ve been on the sand which in the first place. When my boyfriend and I sat down she gave him his turkey sandwich, she said “I’m going to have to ask you to leave” and we didn’t do anything wrong. She’s just so rude. She should be fired. Very poor costumer service from her. After my boyfriend said “I just wanted the food that I ordered” an she goes and says that the other costumers that came in during their argument about her messing up our food that my boyfriend was rude. She said that my boyfriend was rude the entire time and called him a B word and that he should be nicer to people in the food industry. Which he was just trying to get his food fixed and mine. We’ve dined in other places and it’s never a problem to get your food fixed the way you order it. They were not there for the full thing. (Which is irrelevant) Other coworkers should’ve stopped her behavior and attitude. This had ruined our experience at acoustic cafe for the first time in months that we had it. We were there to have a great time with our family. I wish I could say I’d be happy to come back another time, but I would truly never come back until she is gone. She should not be working in costumer service. I’ve read other reviews and it honestly sounds the exact same as the lady I’m talking about. Wish I got her name.

Before all of that went down my boyfriends mother walked in about 5 minutes before we did and the same lady was just glaring at her and asked rudely towards her “are you ready to order yet. We’re closing soon” which again 40-45 minutes from when she walked in.
POOR poor service. Very sad that she has to work there and give old and loyal costumers that type of treatment.

The staff at the place is just RUDE! Went there with two co-workers from Menomonie. Seemed nice at first if not a bit chaotic behind counter. Sat in corner and put on a vinyl record on the player to show a friend how it was used. No music on anywhere in the shop, no sign stating not to use it (it’s right in the open). Rude middle aged staff woman comes over and just turns it off. No explanation, no nothing. I asked nicely if there was an issue. Didn’t say a thing. I then asked who gets to use the player and she just responded “ME”, quite rudely. Again, no sign stating not to use and records right in front. The staff and owners obviously don’t care for their customers’ experience.

Decided to stop in last night with my boyfriend to grab a bite and drink. I hadn't been here in a while and decided why not! We waited off the side as we looked at the menu, to stay out of the way. I have trouble seeing and hearing. When we ordered i couldn't hear too well and ordered a Medium drink. The lady who I assume is the manager was incredibly rude, she got frustrated and yelled at me to pick small or large. I'm sorry for misunderstanding, As I have trouble hearing and couldn't read the menu well. I felt very unwelcomed and honestly just wanted to leave after that in tears. The other staff was very friendly. We ordered nachos and it was just tortilla chips with some shredded cheese on top they melted in the microwave, not at all worth the price. The coffee was alright, it did take awhile to get it though, however it was a bit busy so I completely understand. Until that rude manager or whoever she is is gone, I will not be coming back, and I suggest you dont either. I was just trying to enjoy my night. It's a shame this nice cafe turned out like this.

Great sandwiches, less than great service. I went in the other day to get a soup and sub with my roommate, once I ordered I asked the woman behind the counter (who is also the owner) for a water glass. Pretty standard restaurant hospitality practice right? However, the owner declined and offered to sell me a water bottle instead. Baffled by this, I asked why they do not provide a cup of water to their paying customers. The owners' response? The Dunn county vacation rate is only 50%.....

Surprised by this response I didn't say anything, I grabbed my table marker and sat down. I didn't push back or start acting erratic in any way.

Then the next time I went in to get a sub she pointed me out to one of her workers and whispered something to him. I didn't hear what she said, but I'm sure they were very nice words that she had to say about me :)

long story short, go for the sandwiches, not the non-existent customer service. I'm honestly surprised they are still in business after going through and reading all these reviews about how terrible of a person the owner is.

My husband and I have been going to Acoustic ever since the opened, we decided to go there for dinner last night and order our favorite hoagie sandwich. Wanted a rootbeer float but they we out of vanilla ice cream so my husband chose something else and they were out of that as well. When we got our sandwiches and began to eat them they tasted way different. We couldn't pin point what it was but they were not very good. Didn't have nearly the amount of condiments and turkey as before and the taste was totally different. The banana peppers were like shredded so you couldn't really taste them, they used to be sliced. We didn't eat the whole sandwich and went up and talked with the counter staff to tell them something was different. She said nothing had changed but we know in our taste buds that something was definitely different. When we got home I opened up the sandwich and certainly the quality wasn't there. The french soda is actually really good. However the lady at the counter is very rude, as other reviewers agree. I went here with my boyfriend less than a month ago and the bad memory hasn’t left me.
We walked in and spent at the very most two minutes looking at the menu above while talking about if we wanted a sandwich or soup. The lady at the counter had been staring us down the entire time and rudely interrupts us with a tone saying theres a printed menu “if that one is too hard for you”. I checked behind us to make sure we weren’t in anyones way to warrant being rushed and there was no one else. So we walk up to read the printed menu and I ordered a sandwich and a french soda. I was very harshly asked what I wanted on the sandwich mind you. This had also been my first time having french soda so I didn’t know I was supposed to pick a flavor- I sure wish I was asked to pick a flavor nicely. By the time our food arrived I was on the verge of wanting to go home and cry but I was very hungry. I took one bite of the sandwich and I couldn’t swallow it. It was very disgusting as if it was dunked in dish water. Though I’m not claiming anything had happened to it. The soda was very tasty though. I decided to leave without a word and will never be returning unless I hear that the mean lady is no longer working there.

Alright, so I heard SO much about this place when I moved to Menomonie and I was excited to try it out. I used to own a coffee shop, so I was most interested in the espresso drinks.

I told the guy at the register that I wanted I White Mocha, which is one of the most common drinks at any coffee shop. He looked at me, then at the menu in front of me, and said "Do we have that on the menu?"

I laughed, found it on the menu and realized that it was worded as a "White Chocolate Mocha" instead of White Mocha.

In my opinion, someone working at a place like this should know what a White Mocha is, but let's forget about it.

I also ordered a Carrot Cake Muffin and a slice of Banana Chocolate Chip Bread. Both of those were really, really delicious! I would definitely go back for their baked goods.

On the other hand? The White Mocha I got was terrible. It was extremely watery, which a latte/mocha should never be, and it was so bitter that I couldn't even drink it.

Let me say this, I NEVER throw out a coffee. Even if it's not perfect, I'll still drink it. But this one? I just couldn't make myself drink such a bitter, watery thing when what I was craving was a creamy, sweet White Mocha.

I haven't tried their other menu items, but I will one day since I've heard their sandwiches are really good. And I know I'll have to try the coffee again just in case it was a fluke. But man, I'm scared to order another coffee there!!

Until I try the coffee again, I'd recommend you go to The Blind Munchies or Golden Leaf Café if you need a good espresso drink!

Food was damn near 5 stars, fresh and delicious. However the customer service makes it hard to come back. A lot of the workers seemed nice and were respectful, but either the manager or whoever that lady is that’s always there is awful to the customers. Every time I’ve been in there she’s made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. It’s unfortunate everything else about this place is 5 stars, she needs to quit or get a job she enjoys because she’s driving away customers. I’m not the only one who has said this either.

It was my mistake.. I tried to order a hogie with no tomato and onion but somehow there was some confusion and I didn't get any meat. I brought it up to the counter to ask and two of the employees pretty much yelled at me and told me that I ordered only cheese. That wasn't my intention and I was hoping I could get it remade however, they were extremely short and seemed to reenforce that it was my fault and not theirs. Instead I told them not to worry about it and walked away. Not sure if they were just having a bad day what but it was an unpleasant experience.

Love the hoagies and vibe at Acoustic. I live out of town and it’s always my first stop in Menomonie. I always get a turkey hoagie with everything on it and it’s bomb. The chili is also amazing. Love the owners and staff — definitely a must visit in Menomonie!

One of me and my husband's fav spot in town to eat and have a good time! Acoustic has fantastic hoagies (must get everything on it, that's the way to go) and they usually have chill live music in the evenings. Their food is well priced for what you get, worth it! Also the atmosphere is warm an casual, great place for a casual date with a boo or a place to hangout with a bunch of friends. I really enjoy doing homework here, it is a nice atmosphere and they have outlets right by most of their tables! Great for laptop work!

Acoustic Cafe is delicious. Whenever I am in the area and have time I try to stop in for one of the roast beef hoagies. I like that a lot of the ingredients and products that they use/sell are sourced locally.

Good coffee and hoagie. I really liked their medium roast. It has really good flavor for coffee. Their hoagie comes out nice and hot. For a price that's competitive its the best in town. I would come here over any sub shop in town.

Customer service was awful and after reading the reviews here, I know I'm not the only one who thinks so. After buying our whole family lunch, our five year old was denied access to use the restroom. Apparently to get to the bathroom you need to walk along the edge of the kitchen, and because she didn't have a mask on they wouldn't let her through. Keep in mind that this rule , they informed us, is not in effect in March, which is two days away. I offered to have her raise her scarf up over her face as a covering and that wasn't good enough for them. (Same protection as the staff's cloth masks) They had no masks to offer her and there was no sign on the door stating that not masking would prohibit anyone from using the restroom. All the clientele were unmasked, as we were the whole time. Unfortunately my children had to go through that dehumanizing ordeal. If they had the courtesy to inform people ahead of time, we could have avoided a somewhat traumatic experience for the kids. Will never grace that establishment again.

I'm not a one-star kind of guy and am not here to hurt any business, but I wanted to leave a bit of a heads up. My wife purchased a "gluten free" wrap for me today and brought it home. The GF tortilla appeared too good to be true, even though the paper it was wrapped in had a large "GF" written on it. After calling and inquiring about the ingredients (10 minute conversation with two people that led to me looking up the tortilla bakery myself to find the ingredients), my concerns were proven valid and I learned that it did contain wheat flour.
I thankfully did not eat it, therefore I am not sick AF.
That said, to my fellow wheat-allergic/Celiac friends, be very careful here.
Had I only trusted what was ordered and written on the wrapper, this could have ended very poorly.

There’s a first and last time for everything and this was my first and last time at this establishment!
Purchased a LARGE CAPPUCCINO IN a 16oz cup but it wasn’t a 16oz cappuccino. It was about 8 oz of espresso and 6 oz of foam. The paper cup wasn’t even full! I tried to work it out with the local lackeys behind the counter but they insisted that it was a LARGE not their small, but they wouldn’t budge and were even snarky about it so I simply took a refund!
There’s something I think younger people of today just don’t get…they’re not ENTITLED to business or a profit! They actually have to give something of value to get something of value in return!

Great place for a coffee date. Superb coffee, excellent atmosphere. If their food is anything lime the Day Claire location, it's a home-run as well (though I haven't tried).
