Attended a retirement party . Buffet style meal. No salad bar, no bread or buns. Tiny pieces of dried out cake, they took the coffee away before cake so no coffee with cake. Advertise ice cream drinks but no ice cream. Over all the cost per person was way out of line for what you got. Will not do any party here again

We used to come here under the old ownership twice a month for their Sunday buffet because my kids (and myself) loved it!
Now, it is $25 for the buffet!!! I justified it as a "change of ownership" and "rising food costs" situation BUT then I saw they charged my 9-year old $25 too!!! 9 years old! I was stunned. I asked what the age cut off was and they said 8 years old. My child had 2 mini pancakes, a sausage link and some mediocre desserts off the sweets table and her time was mostly used playing the claw machine which most kids under 10 will do. Most buffets cut off age is 10 and under because you can barely get a 5-10 year old to finish a couple chicken tenders before they leave the dining room table! $25 is insane for a child under 10.
We always came in there because it was affordable, the bloody Mary's are fantastic (and they STILL are by the way!...tasty and a great price for the pour you get and all the yummy garnishments), and the kids like to play the duck claw machine while eating a little something from the buffet. However, I paid almost $70 for my 9-year old and I to have a buffet and one bloody mary which takes us out of the game for coming here as a family on a Sunday. Such a bummer.
I will also say that not only are their bloody Mary's still a great value and delicious but their service has always been amazing. Never once have I stepped in there and not have incredible service. Perhaps they will tweak the prices of the buffet especially for kids to reflect other local prices and we hope to be back as a family when they do. I can attest that other families that I have spoken to have reflected on the same issue and it has detoured them from going as often as the did before.

Tired old restaurant with a limited menu that didnt even include pork schnitzel. My wife was served chicken schnitzel with no gravy. Waiter and owner couldnt even tell me what beers they had, and the beer I got was not what I ordered. It took TWO HOURS to get food. Soup and salad bar was lame and limited. Most of the customers were really old, and the place hasn't been updated since the 70's. It felt like dining in a nursing home ...a really bad, slow nursing home. Ive dined all over America and the world for 60 years; this was literally the worst dining experience I have ever had.

I had to have a Sheboygan Brat in Sheboygan and this place was perfect. It’s a very typical local bar with bar food but their brat is locally sourced with a local family owned meat market. I had kraut And mustard on it. Well worth the price but with a beer less than $12!!! The owner was very nice too.

I have been coming to Al and Al’s for years. Mostly because of the Friday fish fry- and the accordion player (who is now only playing once a month). I am not here to destroy a restaurant- or to say something too negative. We specifically come in to have a few drinks and dance the polka. Sometimes we eat - and the food has been good- and sometimes hit or miss. That’s not the problem. The service , and I don’t mean the waiters or bartenders, I mean SERVICE and HOSPITALITY as a whole has been unwelcoming. The other Friday we came in on my birthday with my mother who has dementia. We set our drinks on an empty table (which also wasn’t sat the rest of the night) and one of the owners/ managers so passively aggressively asked us “ARE YA SITTING THERE OTHERWISE GO TO THE BAR!” There were no bar seats- and I used to have a cute little side table that you could set your drinks on. Also, they covered the Dancefloor with two or three large round tables limiting the space that people can even poke up. What’s the point? I don’t even get it. Anyway- after last time I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It seems the food is okay- so I’m not saying don’t go there. It’s great for large groups. They just need to be, well, a little bit more gracious. That being said, the waiters and bartenders work hard, I just think it doesn’t have the best of vibes- and isn’t that why we go out to eat?? I love Ryan Kautzer the accordion player so maybe I’ll go simply to support him.

Went there on a Saturday night with a group of people. The staff and bartenders were great, the food was good, but out of 4 steaks ordered the same way (medium) only one was cooked medium it was about 45 mins for our food to come out. This was my stereotypical idea of a Wisconsin pub. It honestly satisfied every point of anticipation, from the signage outside, the screen at the front door, cool bar, cozy booths, friendly bar staff, and loads of beer and liquor selections. I was a little sad that the German fare on offer was limited to two dished and no latkes(potato pancakes). But, quality outweighed quantity. The food was fresh and plentiful. I hope that I'll get a chance to visit again.

I went here to pick up an order. (Context) I’m a black biracial woman who was adopted and raised by Germans. I married a German and my son is German. Come to find out this place is extremely prejudice. My experience is, I walked in with a smile on my face, was met with glares, scowls and poor service! When I went to go pick up my order, I was hostilely told that it was going to take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.(that wasn’t the issue as I also used to work in hospitality) the man that was talking to me (an employee) was very impolite and made it seem like my question was stupid, and he clearly acted like I was an inconvenience. I walked out, to wait for the food because my spirit sensed this was not an environment, I should just sit and wait in. When I re-entered I experienced the same treatment, except this time, I just grabbed my order, thanked the guy who was rude with a smile on my face (because I wasn’t letting this guy know he got to me.) If he reads this, I hope he learns, service is service! No matter the customer, always be kind! You are all the faces of the company, and the ones I saw weren’t friendly like the ones I met who visited me, during my childhood, from Germany. It was dehumanizing to receive the looks I did. Never returning! Please take accountability, talk to your staff about treating and specifically talking to customers respectfully because this was disgusting service!

Overall great side food dishes! Smorgasboard items are fresh and very tasty. Lots of excellent salads, which you could serve yourself. However, in contrast, they are skimpy on meat servings.They monitor and conserve the meat by serving it themselves to the customers. My husband received one, small and **very** thin slice of ham and 4 VERY tiny meatballs the size of a quarter. No seconds. I only had ham....again, very skimpy serving. Puts a damper on the experience.

We decided to try something different for a fish fry. We expected the restaurant to be German themed but were pleasantly surprised by the live Polka music! The crowd was a bit older, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was definitely an experience that you don't find much in Wisconsin much anymore and reminded me of my childhood a little. The soup and salad bar was great! The Cod fish fry itself was kind of blah and lukewarm. My baked potato was the same. The table service was slower but not terrible. We kind of expected that and were not in a rush other than we had also placed a to go order.

Had our annual fishing clubs banquet here on Saturday. They served almost 150 people with exceptional service, food and a professional staff. On a late September weekday, at about noon, I walked into Al & Al's, grabbed a seat at the bar, and had one of the top 5 meals of my life. Nothing fancy at all: a double bratwurst sandwich with a side of what I later understood to be homemade sauerkraut, washed down with a mug of Paulaner Oktoberfest. But everything was perfect: the brats, the buns, the kraut... even the beer, which was at just the right cool-but-not-icy temperature.

The proprietors were chilling at the tables outside when I left, so I thanked them, then asked about the brats. They directed me a block or so away to Brockman's Market. There, they loaded me up with five dozen bratwursts. Frozen, so they'd survive the 12-hour drive home.
