As always, the food is superb! As a now employee who still often comes in as a customer, I often see just how much the owners care for their customers. The Omakase for One is an amazing way to sample the delicious sushi offerings they have, and the freshness is evident in every selection. As a huge fan of Japanese restaurants, and in my unbiased food reviewer opinion, I have yet to find a restaurant in Wisconsin that comes close to the experience you can get at Ale Tuna.

ORIGINAL (May 11th):
First and foremost, excellent, top tier quality food! After excitedly waiting for months for this restaurant to open up, they did not disappoint! It is clear to me that the staff worked incredibly hard to make this place a special experience. My father and I were treated very kindly and the staff made sure to check in frequently to see how the food was for us.

I got a bowl of the Miso soup and the Puppy Love roll and my father got the Crystal roll and the okra soup with the chicken broth. Both rolls were made to perfection, as they were perfectly cooked and put together so as to not fall apart when held. The mango in the Puppy Love roll was fresh and sweet and definitely added to the roll itself. Both of the soups tasted very good, and the broths were delicious.

I've been to many different Japanese restaurants in the Sun Prairie and Madison area, and after just one experience, I may just have a new favorite. The food sits on a class of its own, and the general experience itself is great. The rolls are very reasonably priced and the portions are perfect. I will definitely be coming back here, and recommend this place to anyone who loves quality Japanese food.

UPDATE (May 16th):
My girlfriend and I went here to try out the pancakes for breakfast, and they were amazing! The pancakes were super fluffy and tasted delicious. We tried both the Matcha Tiramisu (to which the matcha flavor was not overpowering, but still present) and the Raspberry (which was not overly sweet). The presentation was so pretty it almost made it too difficult to start eating! The one thing to mention, is that the recipe for these pancakes takes a long time (roughly 20-30 minutes), so expect some delay, but the taste is 100% worth the wait.

We went in for lunch today and I feel like I have to post a review since the experience was so great. We had a large variety of sushi rolls and all of them were delicious. They gave us complimentary fruit juice with cute ice sculpture animals on them and an assortment of birthday treats (cake, mochi, flavored ice, fruit). The presentation of everything was top notch, service was spectacular, and the sushi, salad, and miso soup were very tasty. Kudos to you.

This place is absolutely fantastic! We drive out of our way to get here. It is our favorite sushi place. The best sushi anywhere! Also very allergy friendly. I can't have gluten or sugar due to a health condition. They supplemented my spicy tuna for regular. They make these adorable cold drinks with fancy animal ice cubes. The waitress made me a homemade hibiscus drink without sugar. She is the sweetest person with the best customer service! We love this place! It's only our 2nd time but we will be back often.

Madison's sushi variety is lacking, but Ale Tuna is definitely on the breakthrough. We had to wait for an hour and a half to get our rolls, but it was a good experience with some quality raw fish options.

Stopped in early to try this place because we haven't been previously.

It took nearly 1 hour from the time we ordered till our orders were served.

I understood why it took so long due to the detail, the presentation was beautiful, and the sashimi I had was beautifully presented. And better yet it tasted good.

I'm not sure what I ordered because the menu was difficult for me to see & read so in that sense it was a bit of a surprise.

I believe I would eat here again, but beware the font size & color of the menu is challenging in the light if the restaurant.

Delicious place to eat and some of the best customer service l've ever had! We ordered takeout. Got some sushi, spring rolls, gyoza, and beef nagimaki. Everything was so good! We had never been before and from the outside it doesn't look like much. But inside, it is fantastic! They were very busy and still put effort into the little details. We used to live in California and got great sushi all the time. This place could easily exist in SoCal. The food was not great, it was amazing! When you first walk in it's quite small but the atmosphere is welcoming and calm. This isn't a loud place which is amazing. The woman who was serving us today was very kind and did a great job. This place was FANTASTICAL. Not only was the food truly delicious and satiating, but the decoration and environment was so welcoming and unique. I have never experienced such great service at any restaurant. We were brought complementary fruit juices with cute animal ice cubes, along with frozen jelly desserts at the end. I went there today. I wanted their fluffy Japanese pancakes but the waitress was very gracious to tell me that they are only serving it on Saturdays. I will be coming back for those cuz I really want to try them. But also said they might be coming back. Jennifer and February everyday. But the service was amazing. Got to know the people there that work there and was giving something that was adorable. A hedgehog ice cube and a drink that was strawberry and watermelon. That was delicious on top of the food that I ordered. 💜

My husband and I randomly went here for my birthday after a long day. I just wanted a quick bite to wind down. I must have had some birthday luck going on because, WOW. The clear soup was the best I've ever had, I ordered a second cup promptly after the first. The fish is fresh, the owner was wonderful too! Contrary to others experiences the food was not great, service and presentation were nice but the food made me and my wife sick. She also had a scale in one of her pieces and I found a bone in mine which was a first for both us and we eat sushi fairly regularly. We come in every couple weeks sometimes more than that, every time we come in everybody is super nice and in a good mood, very personal. The food is great (also get desert it’s worth it) and plates are always so pretty. Karla is very sweet, always smiling and friendly, and the sushi chef always asks how we are.

Came here for a birthday lunch. Had the best California roll I have EVER had! (And I have eaten a LOT of them!) Stuffed full of crabmeat, avocado, and fresh cucumber. I had a piece of Yellowtail belly (a first for me) not too fatty but rich and soft. Tuna sushi too, great color and flavor. Service was outstanding, presentation was great, and they surprised me with a dessert of deep fried pineapple! I love this place!

I ordered for carryout on a Saturday night at 6:15pm. The store was very busy and there was only one server and one chef working extremely hard to fill the orders and the guests inside the restaurant. The server was still greeting everyone at the door while serving tables and kept apologizing for the wait. We were not upset at all and were extremely impressed with their customer service and professionalism.
Our sushi was 10/10 and the Miso Soup was a hit! We will be back again!

First of all, the sushi was AMAZING and the service was outstanding. We placed an order for takeout over the phone and when I went in to pick it up the woman asked about my kids she could hear over the phone, we chatted a bit and when she came out with our food she handed me an extra bag and said this is for the kiddos. Not knowing what it was I took the bag back to the car and discovered she gifted my kids two water toys. That was the absolute sweetest thing, she went out of her way to do something special for my kids she's never met or even seen. And for the record my kids loved the toys. Stopped in late on a Tuesday night just before close and the server was lovely. I order the beef udon and it was extremely flavorful and had a ton of meet. I also had the house salad which was very fresh and the dressing was a perfect compliment. However, the best part of my experience was when I was waiting for the food, my server kept bringing me out treats and they were all delicious. First was a cherry ice cream and it was a smooth decadent vanilla cherry flavor that was incredible. Then I was greeted with some avacado Tea which was non caffeinated and had a subtle but delicious flavor. Lastly I was served a hot bowl of miso soup even though i ordered the salad as my side. If you are like me and have never had Japanese Fluffy Pancakes do yourself a favor and give them a try at Ale Tuna Izakaya. They take time to make so be patient and just enjoy relaxing in a great warm and welcoming space. Service is impeccable and the presentation of all their food including breakfast and their sushi is an art form and along with the amazing freshness and taste make it an experience. Karla is such a great waitress/owner and trying to do her best to make sure everyone is enjoying their meals. The taste and fluffiness of the pancakes was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. I wish my photos could do them justice but the warm pancakes and the whipped cream weren't cooperating for me. Don't sleep on this place and enjoy great food and service from owners that really care about their customers.

One of the most authentic Sushi restaurants we’ve been to here in Madison area. The service was good. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive. The chef did a wonderful job with the food (taste and presentation wise, we finished everything we ordered). Fish tasted fresh. Portions were large. Might need to wait a bit if they’re busy but definitely worth it. The first time when we came we brought our kids, but they didn’t have high chairs available. The chef and waitress accommodated by giving us little side dishes to keep the kiddos entertained entire meal. Highly recommend!

Ale Tuna is a fantastic little sushi joint in Sun Prairie. It is in unassuming as it shares the building with a few other businesses but they really worked hard to make the space feel authentic from as you walk in thru your visit.

The rolls are fairly standard size but their quality is definitely above average. I had two specialty rolls and loved both. The miso soup was outstanding and tasted like they just made it.

Both my server and the chef were so friendly and really just sweet. I had been checking over and over if they had opened...I popped in on a random Saturday and I believe I may have been their very first customer!! I felt honored. I think this is going to be a popular spot and I can not wait to go back.

Guys, I kept this a secret for a bit because I wanted to enjoy their food without increasing my wait time competing with other customers. Anyways, if anyone is in the mood for sushi, definitely stop by Ale Tuna in Sun Prairie. Everything that I’ve tried there so far has been absolutely fantastic. They’ve only been open since Mother’s Day weekend so they’re still working out some kinks like a long wait time for the food. The wait isn’t so bad though because the server keeps bringing us little treats to try in between some dishes. The server/owner and her husband prides themselves on sourcing the freshest and quality products so everything is amazing and OMG the plating and presentation makes the wait worthwhile. This would be a great date spot. The server/owner is fantastic, attentive and really engaging so the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They also serve soufflé pancakes from 7-10a and those are absolutely divine, light and fluffy. I keep going back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I hope they’ll be around forever. Their beef teriyaki bento is so mouthwatering tender that I’m craving it just thinking about it. Everything is so yummy.

I am absolutely blown away by Ale Tuna! The food presentation and flavor are both absolutely incredible, the service is great, and the atmosphere is so warm, inviting, and almost spa-like (there was calm, spa music playing lightly in the background— so peaceful!) I’ve ordered to-go from here twice, and today was my first time dining in with a friend. We witnessed one of the servers offer to hold someone’s baby so the parents could enjoy a few bites of their food. I was personally blown away & I could overhear the table next to me saying the same thing.

We ordered the Hana Roll, Puppy Love (my favorite), and the Golden Tuna. Throughout our meal, our server brought over a little sip of tea, a bite of tempura plantain (incredible), and just as we were finishing up - she brought over a little bite of red bean ice cream. My friend and I kept saying we felt so special! The chef came out toward the end of our meal to ask/ensure everything was great.

This is my new go-to sushi spot! You should absolutely give them a try.

First note: Same building as a couple businesses. the door is right far side of this old family video. Its easy to see if you know where to look but also easy to miss.

Second: Food is super super good, I am so excited to find such a solid spot in sun prairie. The aesthetic of the food is super good as well, you'll know what I mean if you order and eat inside.

Third: The whole team is super great here, very polite and fun. I really loved my waitress.

Last: The whole environment is lovely, peaceful music like when getting a spa and all the decor is super fun.
