2022: We didn’t have an issue until we ordered our food. This place wasn’t at all busy. I believe our server was Austin. We ordered our food, and our sever asked my dad if he wanted a refill, which my father said yes. We received our food, then saw my dad’s drink waiting at the bar. Our server came back after at least 15 min to make sure everything tasted ok. My dad had to remind him of his drink. We barely got an apology. My dad had to eat over half his meal without his drink. Then we received our bill. The food was decently priced and tasted good, but the drinks were a bit pricy for what you got.

Went back to see if anything had changed and unfortunately not. Again not busy. This time we got a burger and chicken tenders. My burger was very dry and the tenders were to hot that they couldn’t be eaten for 20 minutes. After we had finished we had to wait for 30 minutes just to get asked if we wanted the bill. Pry not coming back.

The appetizers are out of this world! However our Cuban sandwich was served cold -the cheese wasn't even melted -and the burger that was asked for medium rare was WELL done. Stick to the fried things cause they're delicious!. Bartenders behind the counter super nice just not trained very well. Could be more attentive especially when it's slow. And just because someone knows what a Paloma is doesn't mean they know how to make it. LOL so I spent a lot of money on some top shelf tequila to have it destroyed by way too much soda and No lime. Glassware and silverware would be wonderful because it's a really beautiful place and a great atmosphere but sitting there drinking a cocktail out of a plastic cup when you're inside at a great bar leaves something to be desired. Like I said fried pickles are insane their mozzarella sticks are great and the people that work there are lovely! Just needs some training and tweaking and it would be 5 across the board.

Saw this place from the highway headed to MN and thought, cool river spot. As we walked in, the husband says I hope this isn't one of those music venues with awful food... it was.

You walk in, seat yourself and hope someone spots you. Looked like it was mostly locals. Sat outside - Monday about 5 p.m.

I ordered fish tacos. It was cod drenched in sauce, obv trying to cover up the lack of flavor of the out of the box food service fish thrown in the fryer.

Husband got the burger that was billed as ground brisket, etc. Yea, out of the box as well. He choked down half.

I tried to move as much sauce out the way to also eat the fish but eh.

Server was fine except when we said can we get our check... she said yea, you can pay here or I can go get your check. We said oh that's fine with credit card in hand and she walked away... and later returned with a check.. take it she doesn't get cues very well.

But a couple drinks on a Friday night and watching a band would probably be pretty good.. just eat before you go.

This place used to really be something but now it seems that they’ve cheaped out on a lot of things here. The menu is a fraction of the size that it used to be and everything was very overpriced. It was an extra 50 cents just to put bbq sauce on my burger. Utensils were plastic which I’ve never seen at most places. Food was super bland and nothing special, straight out of the freezer. Our server however was excellent. Most likely won’t come back until it’s back to the way it used to be.

On busy nights when there is a band outside you must give your name and wait for a table. Problem is, when people leave a table, others grab it and staff do not tell them they have to put their name on the list. This resulted in a 2 hr wait for us, even though we saw a few tables being "taken" that could have been ours. It's a practice that is difficult to enforce and should be abandoned or the manager should be the one to tell people to give up the table after taking it. We nearly left when we noticed what was happening. A waitress (Izzy) finally saw what was happening and helped us out. Otherwise, the setting on Lake Kegonsa and the food were amazing.

Loved the outdoor seating and live band on Friday night. Very fun and energetic aymosphere. Service was very slow. We were a party of 6 and all of us ordered food at the same time. However they brought one persons food out almost 30 minutes before the next person and then after the second person got their food we waited an additional 10 minutes for the rest of the parties food to be delivered. The food was good but nothing I would rave about or look forward to going back for. Honestly the best part about this place is its location right off the water and the atmosphere. EXTRA perk for parents: there is a giant rainbow playground outside for the kids to play on while you enjoy your dinner or drink a cold one and listen to some great music.

I have to say that the food was delicious. I had a scrumptious veggie burger and fries. The waitstaff were all kind and as attentive as possible- the place was packed. The music was fun. We went to Anchor Inn hoping for a relaxing evening with food and live music. What we got instead was a frustrating mess from start to finish. When we were seated, we were told there were no outdoor tables available (despite seeing some open) and that the food wait would be 45 minutes. Fine, we were willing to wait—until it took 15 minutes just for a server to take our drink order, only for him to casually mention the food wait was now 90 minutes.

We decided to skip food and just order drinks, which were overpriced and still somehow took another 15 minutes to arrive. Not worth the cost or the hassle.

I took my little one to the playground to try and salvage the evening—huge mistake. It was completely overrun by older, unsupervised kids throwing sand and rocks, acting totally out of control while staff and parents turned a blind eye. Unsafe and chaotic.

The service was slow, clearly understaffed, and not remotely attentive. The food and drinks? Mediocre at best, and that’s being generous. I’ve tried giving this place a fair shot more than once, but this was the final straw.

Anchor Inn is subpar in every way. Spend your time and money somewhere that values its guests and knows how to operate.

We love this in the summer. Great outdoor seating right on the river with docks you can go on and a kids playground. Food is fine but wish there were better options. Seems like I can never decide what to eat cause I don’t love any of it but worth it for the vibes. A little rowdy and loud which is fun for adults and older kids but a little much for a toddler or baby when a band is playing. They have lots of fun events like bingo and meat raffles. They also have a huge indoor room for hosting big private events. Overall we love it!

We got married at the Anchor! I can't say enough good things about our experience last weekend hosting our wedding at the Anchor. From the initial planning to the wedding day, every step was easy. Nicole and every single staff member we interacted with set our nerves at ease. When I stopped in the night before to check on the room setup it was obvious that I was a bundle of nerves, but a staff member said "what can I do to make you feel better". Amazing. I was skeptical about food quality and service after reading some reviews, but wanted to share our first experience at the Anchor Inn at 5 pm on a gorgeous Friday night (9/13/24).

First of all, really great atmosphere. Love all the seating options, this place is big! We opted for a spot on the back porch. Lovely. We seated ourselves and were immediately served our drinks.

For being a Friday at 5, I was afraid it would be very busy and result in slow service, but we had our food within 20 minutes of ordering and it was VERY good.

We Ordered two piece cod (16.99) that came with fries, sweet potato fries, OR slaw. I heard it but I didn’t believe it… certainly our fish would come with slaw.. right?! No. Fries OR slaw!! Lol. Well, I sorta whined about it, and without skipping a beat our server GRACIOUSLY brought us some on the house. It was not good though.. seemed like it had just been thawed out from frozen; was sort of slimy and flavor was pretty bland. However, we were very grateful!

A couple of us commented on how the fried cod rivaled some of our favorites in Madison. It was perfectly seasoned and breaded, and the fries perfectly cooked as well. Unfortunately, their ketchup was something unfamiliar, and left us wishing for Heinz. But we were otherwise quite satisfied on the whole.

There was a band setting up as we were finishing our meal, and still hadn’t performed soundcheck by the time we left at 6:15. Would have been fun to stick around and enjoy the evening there by the River. I was surprised it wasn’t busier.

First: no shade on the Anchor, but the best fish fry I've ever had is The Italian American club in Kenosha.

But, if you don't want to drive there, or find parking, the Anchor is about as good as you're gonna find. People are great, and the old fashioned they've got are great.

First time here as a local. Came highly recommended as a good place but my experience was different. I was seated, given a menu, and after patiently waiting to be served was told they were so backed up they would not be able to take a food order. I was willing to wait as long as it took but they said there’s nothing we can do - kitchen closed at 9. It was 8:10 pm. The waitress had just said it could take up to 30-45 minutes and I said I’d wait no problem and that would be before 9 pm. Then they said no because it could be longer. Luckily I went inside and spoke to the owner and to her credit she fixed the night. She went back to the kitchen and personally made me a few tacos in minutes because I was just so upset. I went from a hangry customer about to leave a rage review as everyone around me was allowed to order to a satisfied customer because the owner made it right. Thank goodness because I don’t cook and had intended to be a regular. She took me from rage and close to tears to I’ll come back. She even gave me a hug. I appreciate any establishment whose owner takes responsibility and fixes a really bad situation. Thank you! The black bean tacos hit the spot.

Our food was good except the Ultimate BLT was the worst sandwich I have ever had … it was suppose to have 7 slices of bacon ( no way that was that much bacon ) had 1 piece of lettuce & 2 thin slices of tomato … said on Texas Toast but looked like regular bread . NOT worth the price ..

Our waitress Colleen was the BEST!!!! Loved her attitude and the overall atmosphere. Food was good, and drinks are always good. Great place to stop when on the bike. We will definitely be back!

After waiting 1.5 hrs for our food we finally got it and it was cold....... We asked for a water three times and never received it. They where understaffed the day before the 4th/ night of Edgertons fireworks. The waiter was doing the best he could and was very apologetic. This was truly on management.

I give this place a try once every summer because I live close by to see if they've changed for the better. They have not. 21 minutes for first drink, then 26 minutes before she came back to check on us then 16 minutes more for 2nd drink to arrive. Wednesday afternonn and not busy. Poorly run. Leave this place for the fibs and try literally anywhere else.

Bar is extremely nice and the waitress was great. The only issue i have with the establishment is that the 20 oz beer poured perfectly into the 16 oz cup and didn't overflow. Different cups, same amount. The 20oz is a dollar more than the 16oz. Doesn't seem fair and quite honestly slimy. If you don't want to believe it then order both and pour them in opposite cups. How many dollars have been profited from this? Don't let this stop you from coming here as the place was very nice. But I'd say only order the 16oz.

Service from Brooklyn J was horrible, food was garbage especially THE ULTIMATE BLT … lol, turned out to be the ULTIMATE MINIATURE BLT for 18 bux! Asked server about sandwich and did not care a damn thing about it ! All she cared about was her tip and management on 6-30-24, 4:30pm was a joke! Server and management need to be retrained !!! I was in the area for a work trip, and have made the rounds to just about every restaurant in the Whitewater area, and Anchors was one of my favorites. The food was decent and the service was adequate, but where Anchor's shines is its atmosphere and tap beer selection.

They had close to 30 selections of tap beers, including sours and craft IPAs which are tricky to find on tap. My group sat outside on their huge patio on the river, which was another plus since very few of the places around Whitewater had this amenity. I could easily see myself spending several hours just hanging out here and enjoying the view and brews.

I ordered a black and Bleu burger, which was pretty tasty, but when mixed with their sauces went from good to amazing! I loved that they had a wide variety of sauces at the table to experiment with and jazz up your meal. The only thing I could see being a problem especially during peak times is the service. While we definitely didn't have bad service, the waitress was pretty scarce, and I imagine if we had come during a peak time, our meal service would have taken twice as long. All things considered, service wasn't bad enough to justify docking a star, and I'll definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

The food was not great, I actually will never eat here again. 1st time in 20 years and it definitely didn't impress. Our bartender was new and the person working with her was extremely rude. If I am customer and can see your body language, your eye rolls to other employees then there is definitely a problem. I felt very bad for the new employee. Sometimes it takes a little while for the "older" generation to catch on especially with technology. Instead of being rude to the point customers notice (and I wasn't the only one) be helpful, teach even if it takes an extra few weeks. Think about your own mom or dad having to start a new job with new technology. Would would want other employees treating them that way. Totally uncalled for, and if it's a standing issue go to management so they can come up with a solution. Our bartender/server was extremely friendly, stated she was new, and I had zero issues. It was the other employee and her treatment toward her that made my experience unenjoyable to the point I voiced my opinion. I'll never go back.

My family and I threw our grandmother a surprise party and the workers at Anchor made it all possible! Thank you to our server, Morgan, for being amazing and putting up with our rowdy group of twelve! We all had a great time and really appreciated all of your help. The entire table thought the food was awesome! The mango nachos were HUGE and had great flavor, they were a crowd favorite!
