Not sure if we came on an off night but our dinner was extremely disappointing. We had a group of 5 and made a reservation ahead of time. Upon getting to the restaurant we were seated quickly by who we thought was a host. Not 2 minutes later we were approached by a waitress who was very rude and told us that we needed to move to a different booth because the one we were seated at was already reserved for a different group, who was finishing their drink at the bar, and wanted that specific booth because they "didn't want to sit by the door". This created a lot of confusion, considering we were sat there by the host! The gentlemen that sat us came back around and was equally confused by why this waitress was making this request. It was just ridiculous and so awkward. We ended up moving booths just to avoid the awkward situation but needless to say we were extremely uncomfortable. The waitress made it seem like we just walked off the street and just sat down at this table. No one even apologized afterwards, like this was just a common occurrence at this establishment.

That was just the start of our experience. The bar was extremely backed up, it took us 30 minutes to get our drinks, our(new) waitress came over and apologized several times for the long wait time, and at one point, said she was going to go help the bartender. Our appetizers came out and we finished eating them before our drinks arrived. I am not sure how a place that is renowned in MKE for it's cocktails can't get a drink out.

The entrees weren't any better. We ordered a pizza and 3 pastas to share. Cold, off-putting flavors, almost inedible. I have no idea how you can make pasta so bad but this place managed to do it. Everyone in our group agreed that store bought past sauce would have been better.

I am not really sure how this place has a 4.7 out of 5 rating but I don't think we will be going back.

If you’re looking for the best espresso martini in Milwaukee, this is the spot. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and just the right kick. It sets the tone for a whole night out in MKE. I also tried the hummus plate and the spicy sausage rigatoni, and both were absolutely delectable. The rigatoni’s cream sauce in particular was rich and flavorful without being too heavy. EASILY one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in the city.

Today I visited this spot with my friends and must say, it is truly a beautiful place. I’m sure it has a rich history, which unfortunately I don’t know. The bar is excellent, and the atmosphere is very charming.

However, there were a few things that disappointed me. Unfortunately, the pizza was not tasty at all. The crust was thick and dry, and it even gave me heartburn, which I normally don’t experience. So, I would recommend being careful when choosing from the menu. We ordered a pizza with garlic, caramelized onions, and mushrooms, I don’t recall the name.

The thing that disappointed us the most, though, was what seemed to be large clumps of dust on the curtains. I think it would be great if you could address this issue, as it detracts from the otherwise wonderful experience at your place.

The food and drink are always good, really great happy hour deals. We’ve had the same server twice now, she is blatantly rude. When our gluten free friend inquired about a dish, she was extremely snappy back. I understand a bad night or it gets busy, but it seems pretty consistent with this server. Service honestly ruined our experience and will not be back. If your customers are constantly an inconvenience to you, you should not be in this industry. We’ve never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before.

Kaitlyn, Angela, and Ginger were all amazing! We came into town from Oregon and visited Aperitivo for happy hour, which has great food a drink options for a mere $6. Highly recommend the pizzas (Fresh made dough and top quality ingredients/toppings. And the champagne cocktails were tasty! The ladies were so welcoming and entertaining and the atmosphere so inviting that the two of us friends spent the entire evening visiting there. Kaitlyn made us our first ever Brandy Old Fashions which were sooo good! And gave us a bunch of recommendations for fun things to see and do while we are in town!!! The hostess/server's behavior upon arrival significantly impacted our experience. At approximately 5:15 PM on Friday, we were met with immediate attitude when we said we didn't have a reservation. Being told to simply "go to the new place next door," accompanied by an eye roll, was unprofessional. No options were presented, such as bar seating, nor was any information provided about future reservations. While I appreciate that the restaurant may have been busy, the dismissive treatment was unwarranted. Our previous visit was pleasant and was not busy, which is why we didn't think to make a reservation this time. We weren't even given a chance to discuss possibilities. Best sandwiches in the city!

Things I love: the Pritzlaff, the Big Mick, and the Chopped Cheese (please make it a regular?!?), the friendly service, the drinks, the happy hour specials.

Pro tip: I've never had it, but various dining companions swear by the chicken Caesar focaccia. It's also a massive sandwich, so if you like leftovers, it's 2 meals in one.

Our crew at work takes lunch very seriously. We pursue sandwiches from Shorewood to Waukesha to Racine. This place has some well-honed sandwiches. The focaccia is heavenly, the meats are top notch, and the general quality of the ingredients is very good. With a base model price of $15, plus Milwaukee sales tax, and a couple bucks for a tip, this is a $20 to-go sandwich thats worth every penny.

We ordered Thai chicken flatbreads:chicken was dry and chewy, flatbread was more like a pizza crust, peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter. We had our rehearsal dinner at Apertivo and I cannot recommend them enough for any and all events! Richard was incredible to work with on our menu (we fed 55 people) and the space feels very private and inviting. They are able to help offer table cloths and candles, you can bring in your own decor within reason and they will plug in playlists/have audio available if you need it. The food...unmatched. They were also willing (and understanding!) and able to accommodate some extreme diet needs. We loved Apertivo before but we weren't sure how it would all scale for family style and, boy, did they deliver! The staff is all SO kind and very, very open to helping with whatever you need during the evening. Truly the best experience we could have asked for. Thank you, Richard and team, for making the kickoff to our wedding so memorable!

The top priority for any restaurant is, of course, the food, and the lunch we enjoyed at Apertivo was nothing short of spectacular—especially the Italian and the cheesesteak. Wow!

The ambiance was a relaxed blend of 19th-century industrial chic, reflecting the building's lively past as a hardware store.

Service was outstanding all around. When the owner discovered we were Dead Heads, he generously gifted us a vinyl copy of Dead Set. Absolutely amazing!

Honestly amazing experience both times I ate here. Came here during a week long trip to Wisconsin and I loved the chicken Caesar foccocia sandwich so much I had to come back before I left. Our food was fantastic. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. We tried the caprese and tuna paninis and the funghi pizza. They all were delicious and I'd recommend trying them all. The tiramisu was also very well made and tasty. The waitress said they make it in house. Great restaurant. There is some street parking nearby, but we parked in a "$3" lot a few blocks away right off the highway since it was just easier.

We were so happy with our rehearsal dinner at Aperitivo. With our wedding at the Pritzlaff, the location was incredibly convenient, and the food was ridiculously good. Richard was so easy to work with - he gave us a starting menu, but was also open to any of our ideas for food, as well. We used the private room attached to the restaurant for our 25 person dinner. It was the perfect size to set up the food buffet-style, while still having plenty of space to mingle. We also had a small bar set-up, which worked out perfectly, and the bartender was so kind! Haven't been here in a while, thought I'd come and revisit to of my favorites. The Big Mick, and the Cobb Salad.
I made two changes to my Cobb. First, swap chicken for turkey. The chicken they make at Aperitivo is so good. They make it in house, last I knew, and it's the best chicken I've ever had from any restaurant I've been to. I also had Cesar dressing instead of the vinaigrette. It's just how I like my Cobb. And I was not let down. It was as good as it ever was, and I can't wait to come back for it.

The big mick is one of my favorites sandwiches in the history of food, and when done correctly, is probably something everyone needs to try once in their lives. Mine was taken off the panini press too early, so I left four stars instead of five.

In a perfect world, they'd use pickle relish instead of pickles. But hey. Not everyone is perfect.

I drove 30 minutes in midday traffic for this meal. I would do it again.

Next time I'll revisit the cheese steak, which was so popular at one point, they considered making a new restaurant JUST for the cheese steak. If it's anything like it's predecessor, I'll be happy.

We held our rehearsal dinner for our wedding in May at Aperitivo. We had the option to rent out the entire restaurant, which included the beautiful bar area and event space. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing--the drinks, food, and service were unbelievable. Had a lovely happy hour - drink and food specials from 4 to 6pm, plus the regular menu was available. We had the cheese and charcuterie plate and a pizza- along with drinks. The food had a nice presentation, the charcuterie plate had a nice variety of items - fresh fruit, cheese, candied pecans, dried cranberries, mustard and jam... I couldn't stop munching it was so delish!
The pizza had plenty of sausage and chopped red pepper with each bite! For not being a pizza place, it was quite good.

Our drinks were tasty and refreshing on this hot steamy day- we were quite happy!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Aperitivo the night before our wedding. It was hosted on the right side of the restaurant in a private room with beautiful cream brick walls and our space was set for 50. More than enough room to fit all 50 of us. There were high-top tables set for folks to stand as well. We never felt crowded.

Richard was great to work with and set our menu based on the info we gave them around dietary restrictions and general preferences. Everyone loved the BBQ Chicken Pizza. We drank... a lot! There was a bar set up and our bartender was amazing. Our speciality drinks were an aperol spritz and old fashioned. It was a great time.

We did a buffet style dinner and the food was hot and came out in a timely manner. Would recommend if you have a special event — the historic Pritzlaff building is beautiful and a great place to host. Thank you to Richard and the Aperitivo staff!

Expectations temper an experience. With the name Aperitivo and the website’s concept, I expected what I encountered in Milan, where almost every block has an elegant bar serving stylish small bites and aperitifs. Stylish, exuding that European caché, the Milanese pose and prance before and after dinner at these bars. They are very cool.

Aperitivo is nothing like this. It is Wisconsin and Walker’s Point true. There is nothing bad about that but nothing what I expected. With lots of wood and paraphernalia, showing off the industrial age at the turn of the twentieth century, the bar has the requisite cream city brick of the neighborhood. There is nothing European about Aperitivo. Drinks are good, Wisconsin poured, and the menu eclectic with many choices. A large wooden bar takes up much of the space in this out of the way spot near the railroad lines and the post office. Service was friendly and very down to earth.

As a place to go, Aperitivo is just fine. However the name conjures up a cosmopolitan panache that is rare in Milwaukee. Aperitivo doesn’t have it, but it’s a nice place to drink and eat.

The food was not great, brussel sprouts were too salty and way too oily. The Moscow mule was actually spicy, felt like someone dumped either black peppers or a full jalapeño in there. The waitress said both she and the owner tasted the drink and that it was made correctly. I’ve had many mules and never has it tasted that bad and spicy. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was bland and had no flavor whatsoever. We told the waitress who said the owner insisted that since the tiramisu was made exactly by their recipe they will not take the cake off the bill. First time in my life a restaurant does not comp for something customers say tastes terrible. Three of us had the tiramisu, and all three of us agreed it was awful. Will not be returning here.

While the good was great (seriously, get the Bahn Mi or the Cuban sandwich, terrific Sammies) the killer for me was the coffee bar! The coffee-of-the-day incorporated a prickly-pear powder into a latte with Tajín on the rim, and while I was hesitant at first it was phenomenal. The coffee/bartender here knows his stuff and we had a great time. Super polite and friendly staff, great food, to die for coffee!

Amazing food and coffee. I literally can't stop thinking about the coffee I had. It was so amazing. Everything is made fresh so it may take a little longer, but having a fresh croissant sandwich is ABSOLUTELY worth it. It was all good. The service was excellent as well.

Really nice place. High cellings, vintage items and drawings as decor is really awesome. Chek out the bathroom doors !

Definitely one of my utmost favorite places to go. Atmosphere is absolutely on point, bar looks great and while there is limited seating it is done so eloquently. Richard is wonderful and if he has a spare moment will come talk to you and make time for your feedback. We seem to have become regulars because any chance I get I ask for Jon as our server, if not, no matter everyone is great. As a chef my self I can firmly attest that things are done well, clean and fresh. Makes a world of difference. Love this place, perfect for a date and definitely a must if visiting the third ward, pricing really reasonable, cocktails and coffee done very well. If I could give 10 stars I would. I hope the bring back the wine events!

This restaurant has a great vibe, as in chill. No loud music blasting you out of your seat, no game announcers yelling. The 2 large tv screens above the bar quietly and slowly scroll thru artists paintings. I learned about an impressionist painter I had not heard of before. The food was good too! We each had a different sandwich. I would recommend this place as a great date night or wonderful place to meet friends where you could actually hear each other.

Beautiful space! Went during happy hour and instead of drink specials, you get a complimentary “Aperitivo”. Today was a chorizo quesadilla with salsa verde. I had a mojito that was freshly muddled along with the cevapcici & Caesar salad. Can’t wait to go back to try more menu items!

My Salad was on a large side, yet..the tuna tasted fishy. All sauce is homemade. The music choices with the scene inside didn't go well. Service is a bit on the slow side. I ended up leaving my salad behind. The appetizer came after the meal was served. Ordered hummus. Was a small portion but was good.

Wonderful experience! I had a perfect handmade latte and a delicious sandwich that was recommended by a server. Really outstanding food quality at a reasonable price, but the reason to go there is the staff - they are excellent! Attentive, efficient and knowledgeable while being absolutely delightful. I even chatted with the owner and he is clearly commitment to a safe experience for his customers and his team.
I highly recommend!

Horrible dining experience with poor service and under cooked food. Went with my family and ordered a few drinks, a sandwich, and three pizzas. Wife ordered the Vesper and had to send it back because it was disgusting The waitress brought a replacement very quickly. The experience only went down from there. We waited over 40 min for our food. Another table that arrived 25 min after us received their food directly after us. All three pizza's dough where drastically under cooked. The sandwich was good. When trying to cash out, I had to go inside and ask for the bill. We will not be returning.

The feel when you walk in is great. First drink I ordered was a French 75, one of my favorite prohibition era drinks, and it was fantastic. Got a charcuterie board which was also very good. The remaining cocktails ordered were well made and well priced. I ordered a sausage, mushroom and onion pizza which was amazing, and I love pizza. Very very highly recommend checking out this new little spot. You won't be disappointed

We ordered takeout lunch. CAPRESE PANINI was very flavorful with fresh green basil pesto. Very satisfying, yet light.
It was easy to order online, they use Square payment system, and it makes it easy to pay. You get order notifications via email and sms on your phone. Order was ready about 13 before initial estimate of 30min. So, count on that.
Cappuchino was ok, better them many. Not great. Cant wait to get a cocktails at the bar! I hope they will have porch sitting once it is warm enough.

My boyfriend and I tried Aperitivo on a whim after hearing they had a pumpkin sazerac special for Halloween. The food was delicious and the service was great! The Pritzlaff sandwich was so delicious, and their cheese and charcuterie board was great- diverse cheese and awesome value.
