We went there for our 35th anniversary. Never been there but a friend suggested it.
My wife and I had appetizers,main meal and desert. Also martinnis and red wine.
The food was amazing. Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Service was very professional and food came out in a timely manner. We had very Nice window seating . It was an excellent experience.

We have been going to this restaurant on and off for the last year. I called to make a reservation and left a message on the answering machine as they were closed. The return call was the most rudest conversation I've ever had with any restaurant. The woman was condescending, snarky, and mean. She told me they will not take reservations between 7:00 and 7:30 which were the time spots I needed. She told me that I could only do 6:30 or 8:00. Those times would not work for us. I told her I didn't understand why they couldn't take reservations during that time and she explained that that they could not as they would not have tables because of the reservations from 6:30. If they have reservations available at 6:30 they could just make one for seven or 7:30. Not a chance apparently. So I asked if I could just walk in during those times if they don't take reservations and she said no I can't very rudely. (We have come here between those times and the restaurant is half empty) She explained to me that she doesn't understand how I don't understand how they don't let anybody in during those times. I was speechless. Absolutely speechless. The food is very good which is why I didn't leave a one star. I do not know the lady's name as she did not give it but if this is the way the staff is trained, I would avoid this restaurant. There are many other fine establishments you can go to in the Appleton area without the condescension and arrogance.

Bad customer service. I was downtown Appleton at the library and was looking forward to trying the Greek restaurant, APOLLON, across the street. I asked for a table for one and was about to be seated at the worst table in the restaurant...right by the door. It was 4:45pm and I only saw one other party seated...6-10p. I decided to ask for a meal to go instead of asking for another table. I was told they were not doing take out because they had reservations for larger groups that night. So, I left and won't be back, neither will be my family.

Wow, Wow, WOW! This Greek restaurant is phenomenal! Every time I visit Appleton, this place is a must! Their service, paired with their extensive drink and food menu makes this place top on my list!

A four course Greek meal that will blow your mind and not your wallet. Cheese, soups, pasta, salads, and of course, beautifully cooked lamb. Even if you are a vegetarian, you will find delicious options that will taste wonderful. The portions will fill you without leaving you overly full. A decent drink menu will leave you wanting to overstay your welcome here. Great for families, friends, and business associates. The staff are wonderful and willing to explain the options available. Wonderful and delicious. A great atmosphere with a nice selection of wines, whiskeys, and beer. The food is absolutely fabulous and the best egg lemon soup out there. Food was good enough albeit the portions were on the smaller side. My husband and I ordered a $34 bottle of wine. When the bill came it included a $93 bottle of Syrah, which we had not ordered. We told our server there was a mistake, they said they would correct it and asked if I wanted to see the new bill before running my card, I said yes. Upon returning and checking the bill a second time the bottle listed was still incorrect, now a $60 bottle of Cabernet. Very disappointing to see this happen not once but twice. Can’t help but feeling like it was almost intentional, the bottle we drank was still sitting out on the table and it should have been easy enough to enter the right item instead some of the most expensive wine on the menu.

I'm sorry but I need to be honest. We went in a group of 7 and sadly I have to say the food was pretty terrible. If you've eaten Greek food before, you'll know this isn't any near a good representation. A table of 7 sit down and we received a tiny plate of dip and bread. That was the first sign of things to come. Each dish was a disappointment and we all realized quite early into our night that we'd made a mistake. Even the Greek coffee at the end of the meal was a watery mess. I was so disappointed and really didn't want to leave this review, but felt I had to considering it was the good reviews that made us go in the first place.

Company hosted a large group dinner here. There must have been a headcount misunderstanding because we didn’t have enough seating initially. Once that was resolved, the rest of the night was a delicious experience.

Given lamb is the spotlight at Apollon, the entree decision was what TYPE of lamb dish to order. The server did not steer me wrong by recommending the lamb tenderloin saffron. He said it was so tender, it could pass for beef. He also suggested medium rare. He was absolutely right on both counts. This was one of the best lamb entrees I’ve had in a long time.

I would put Apollon on my “revisit” list next time I’m in town again because this was a top notch dinner and a lovely surprise to find this in downtown Appleton.

1st time here - my hubby & I celebrated my birthday. I ordered the Chicken & Mushrooms dinner... he ordered the Gyro dinner. Jay was our server... we started with hummus and bread... and then... this AMAZING Greek Lemon Soup... then a feta salad with two dressings. On a whim, a close friend and I decided to go out at half past five in the evening, hoping for a very executive dining experience. Despite the restaurant being empty except for three tables, and with no suggestion to the contrary posted on any online material, Apollon does not take walk-ins. In addition, the host was quite standoffish and haughty when they loudly announced that there would not be an open table until half past six, and did not give an apology for the inconvenience.

First, Kelly is an angel, and the world doesn't deserve her. We called, learned you need a reservation, and she asked how fast we could be there, and told us she'd be ready for us(to park the car because we were parked right outside the front door).
I was semi decently dressed because of jury duty and my wife was dressed in Midwest best, Kelly didn't care. She treated us amazing.
I screwed up her groove by forgetting to order saganaki and she rolled with it like a boss.
Literally, we don't deserve Kelly, she's a gift to this world. And especially a gift to two tired overworked untreated ADHD adults looking for some comfort food.
I'm sure the other people working there are great, but you may as well name it Kelly's Apollon cuz we are lifers now!

Lost our reservation. Called and made a reservation on September 10th for 5 PM on January 17th for dinner before the Lion King. Receptionist said the 2025 book was not out yet, but they would leave a note to update once the book was out. Showed up at 5 PM tonight to find out, we didn’t have a reservation. After seeing all the 5 star review I hate to leave a bad one but today was my birthday and while the food was great the service was lack luster.....I got the flaming lamb and while everyone else that got one got an "opa" ... I didn't.... We were told when we set the reservation they did a little something for birthdays ...while another table got something for there's we didn't.... I got more happy birthday's from random customers than the staff...over all I felt pushed aside.... maybe our server busy helping a bigger table ...but as a restaurant manager myself that's not a good excuse....

My wife and I decided to take our son and his girlfriend to Apollon to celebrate our son’s birthday. We had been there before so we knew that we needed reservations. We also knew that the food was going to be good. We all had a great time talking and eating. The meal was as good as we expected. Peter, our server did an excellent job taking care of us. He knew the menu very well and answered all our questions. I believe in tipping for good service so I left 20%, in cash on the table. When we walked outside, an employee followed us out and asked why we didn’t leave a gratuity for our server. I told her to check the table. I guess they only think that tips should be added to the receipt that comes when using a debit card. I leave cash when I can. I wonder what other aspects of this establishment is being mismanaged when they take the time to embarrass themselves by following a customer out onto the street instead of checking the table first. Her action was completely uncalled for and it was humiliating. There are too many good restaurants in our area that do not treat their customers this terribly to ever waste time going to Apollon again. I will never return.

My wife and I drove an hour to this place tonight with a 7pm reservation for our anniversary, we got there at 6 with a plan to sit at the bar. When we arrived we found out there is no bar so we would have been stuck for an hr with nothing to do. However the staff there was very accommodating and sat us right away, they didn't even know how far we drove or that it was our anniversary. We proceeded to have an amazing dinner with top level service! This place is great and we had a great time! I highly recommend the flaming rack of lamb, delicious and super cool when they light it on fire at your table. Recommended by a friend, we decided to dine here before a show (Hamilton). The ambiance is quaint and feels nicely upscale. We were greeted and seated by the owner. George was our host (waiter) and made us feel right at home, immediately. The place was full but he was attentive and relaxed.

Dinner included a very nice, citrus based soup like nothing I had tried before! Salad was fresh and served with 2 house dressings. Delicious!

The main course dishes were all fantastic! Our table had a Tuna dish, Mediterranean grouper, a shrimp dish and a lamb dish. There were NO leftovers! Everything was perfect.

The soup and salad are great, and I ordered the Triumph of the Seas. It was shrimp, scallops, salmon. It came with 2 shrimps, 2 scallops, and a small piece of salmon that was smaller than the palm of my hand. The sides were spinach risotto which was good and broccoli. The food was OK, but not good enough to suffer the arrogance of the maitre d, who seated us right outside the kitchen door and claimed that the other two set-up tables had been specifically reserved. (We had a reservation, but not for a specific table!) Nobody showed up at the one next to us, and he had taken a powder by the time we left. Not seeing any other reason for our initial ill treatment, I suspect simple small-town racism since my wife is from Taiwan.
Though other reviewers described this as a fancy place worth dressing up for, I was the only customer in even a sport coat. Wearing a shirt with a collar is fancy in this restaurant.
The food we had was mediocre. I was especially disappointed in the moussaka, the classic eggplant casserole covered with béchamel. In a risible attempt to elevate this wonderful dish, they had covered it with a pink sauce of some kind, plus a slice of tomato, and I think a slice of cheese. That's Wisconsin!
The server was very good. The lamb was tolerable. There are better places to eat in Appleton. I expect this one was better before the original owner died five or so years ago, as I understand.

Apollon was a fantastic experience!

To start - the hospitality was great. We went on a Thursday night, made a reservation in advance (not necessary), and were seated immediately.

The restaurant was quite full. Our waiter was fantastic. Walked us through the menu, was not rushing us in anyway, and made great recommendations.

I was with two others and we were quite hungry. An appetizer would have been great, but we did not choose one.

The entrees come with a soup and salad. The soup is a mainly broth and a little lemony . It was very good. The salad was the perfect size and was fantastic with the two dressings.

My entree was the Mixed Grille (incredible) and the other dishes were the shrimp Santorini and the chicken roulade espanaki.

These were the perfect size where you were full and no food went to waste!

The flavors were amazing, the prices were solid, and the atmosphere was cute!

A 3 course restaurant, you are received with this small pieces of bread and humus sauce. Then, if you don’t order appetizers, they bring you this soup that is great! If you like lemon, you will loge its taste! Afterwards, they bring this salad with 2 sauces: one has a cheese in the base and the other one has balsamic vinegar (I recommend to mix them! Take with the green pepper that comes).
For ou dinner, we chose Faming Rack of Lamb and Lamb Tenderloin Saffron. Both of them come with broccoli, carrots and something different and delicious (sorry, I don’t know the name). For those who are not so hungry, the Lamb Saffron is quite enough, however if tou are hungry or like Lam a lot i would definitely pay 6 dol more for Flaming Rack! They recommend medium point and for me, who is used to eat well done, some parts were a bit weird to eat.. but ok, I could handle!
Coming to deserts, I loved both! The Baklava was AMAZING! And I live the vanilla ice cream as well.. I didn’t like the ice cream that came with Galaktoboureko cause I don’t like mint is sweeties at all, so this is more a personal issue.. If you like chocolate with mint, for example, you will like it!!

We’ve been coming for years and every time it’s amazing. We had the Lamb Tenderloin and Shrimp Santorini, with the house Red wine & Mythos, lastly followed by the Baklava. Everything was delicious and our Server was amazing and so sweet.

Quaint storefront serving a unique blend of Greek and classic 'Continental' style cuisines. Dinners are three courses (salad, soup, entree). We enjoyed venison in Metaxa creme, lamb sirloin, spanikopita, corvina filet with fresh vegatable medley. Desserts are wonderful. Wines well chosen and reasonably priced. Service is knowledgable and very professional. First rate.

It's more of a "Special Occasion" restaurant (went on our anniversary). My husband had the mixed grille (lamb, scallops, and shrimp), and I had steak. We had the flaming cheese for appetizer and cheesecake for dessert. All was delicious!

We celebrated our 53rd anniversary with dinner at Apollon and it was great. Our server, Nancy, was responsive and friendly and guided us through the menu. The presentation was outstanding and the food was excellent. We are foodies and my spouse described the meal as one of the best we had ever had!

Went here for dinner before a show at the PAC. As other reviews indicate, plan on 2 hours for dinner. You could do it quicker, but why would you want to? Relax and enjoy each course. We had the flaming cheese (Opa!), stuffed grouper and filet au chocolat. All were excellent. Paired with the featured red wine. Had the Galacktoboureko and Dark and White Chocolate cake for dessert. Our waitress was very friendly and provided great service.

My wife and I ate there for the second time in a month and we will definitely keep going back. I had the Triumph of the Sea and she had the Lamb Ala Cremé they were both Spectacular. The service and drink’s were also spectacular. We really liked our waitress Tara.

Whenever I visit Appleton I have to stop here! The first time I found it I was planning to have the Gyros u til I walked in and realized that this is an authentic Greek restaurant. The lamb dishes are amazing and so is the seafood. As hard as it was, today I steered away from those delicious items and chose the Pastitsio. OMG!!! Freaking delicious!!! This restaurant never disappoints! All the staff members are amazing and professional and the food is always top notch! PS, I still have not had the Gyros…

The service and food here is SO good!! The orzo soup I have not stopped thinking about since we were here for a date night a couple months ago.
I do think the restaurant would benefit from some updates to add to the fine dining atmosphere.

Based on on-line reviews, my wife and I were excited to eat at the Apollon prior to a PAC show. The location, just a few blocks from the PAC, was ideal.

The Good: The service was outstanding. The wait staff is knowledgable, helpful, and unobtrusive. Waitress at our table was able to recite ingredients and preparation method, and was prompt when we needed/wanted something, but stayed out of the way.

Note - the restaurant will tell you that this is a dining experience that will last two to 2 1/2 hours, so if you want fast dining, this is not the place. But who would want fast dining when you can share good food and good company.

The Bad. The food was very uneven.

For the appetizer, my I ordered the Spanakopitakia, and wife ordered the Saganaki. The Saganaki was flamed at the table (did I mention great service!) and was good (as anticipated. The Spanakopitakia (miniature spinich pies) was ok, but only ok. While traditionally (and in the description) the filling is spinich with feta cheese, the feta was either well hidden (to the point that it could not be tasted), or was missing. Either way, this was quite a disappointment.

The soup that came with the meal was salty to the point that it overpowered the soup. One taste was enough to know that someone was not tasting the soup before it came out.

The salad that came with the meal was simple and carelessly thrown together.

For the entre, my wife ordered the Moussaka. This was expected to be flavorful and we were excited to try it. The Moussaka was bland to the point of being unedible. We asked to have the chef check the flavor profile, and never heard back. It was truly a terrible approximation of Moussaka.

On the other hand, my Lamb Chateaubriand Forestiére was excellent. Cooked perfectly to order, the sauce was flavorful and delicious. There were only a few mushrooms (I prefer more, but this may be the intended style), but the meal was delicious. On the other hand, it is quite difficult to mess up a broiled loin of lamb.

The real disappointment is that it appears that the chef was too busy or could not be bothered to taste the food before it was sent out. There is no chef in a good restaurant who would have sent out a soup where all ingredients are hidden by overpowering salt taste, or a moussaka that was so bland that no flavors could be tasted at all. (Think - nursing home bland). Would that we could have magically moved some of the salt of the soup to the Moussaka, but it was not to be.

It was too bad that the food did not match the attentive and friendly service personnel. We shall not return.

My wife and I have been there many times, and have never been disappointed! This is delicious, authentic Greek cuisine provided in a very lovely and relaxed environment. You are also within walking distance of the Appleton Performing Arts Center so make an evening of it!

I enjoyed a good, but not great meal. The atmosphere & service were above average, however I felt that there was a drop-off in flavor profiles . Such a wide variety of bites that could really shine if the Greek/Med. seasonings were kicked up a couple of notches.
