Updating from my last review. Stopped tonight a bit before 5:00. There was only one other car in the lot. Our server was obviously not happy to be there, she couldn't even muster up a hello. Very unfriendly. We ordered a kids grilled cheese meal, onion rings, and a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard and pickles. We received a bacon cheeseburger with onions, lettuce and tomato...... The fries and onion rings were undercooked and soggy, and the grilled cheese was not at all grilled with the cheese barely melted. We did receive a coupon for a free sandwich for the burger mistake. When we called to speak to the manager about the rest of the issues, he asked if there was anything he could do to make it right. We told him unfortunately no, and that we would not be back, we were then told that we were rude and trying to embarrass him (the manager) and he hung up on us. Prior to that, his defense was that he has kids working for him and the previous owner had 3,000 of this type of mistakes in their 45 years of owning it. Not sure how that is relevant to our current experience. We used to really enjoy this place, and we did try it several times this summer, only to be disappointed each time. I did not have a chance to tell the manager this before he hung up on us. As former restaurant owners, we took feedback and criticism from all types of people, and we used that info to try and improve our customers experiences. I hope this business does the same, but unfortunately, we will not be back.
Original review: Love the grilled cheese, tarter sauce, and root beer!

I don't even know WHAT just happened. I find myself wondering if I did something which SHOULD have upset them, given the way we were treated.
My best friend helped host an event last night, so I was running her around finishing up lose ends and she wanted to buy me lunch for helping her. Cool. She's talked about likeing this place before and I've been meaning to try it for a while. We arrived separately, I arrived before her, so I pulled up in an unintrusive stall toward the end of the lot. The car hop approached almost immediately and asked what we wanted, I told her we were waiting for someone, she told us to flash our cautions when we were ready. No problem. After waiting 15 minutes, we were asked to move to the street because of some sort of policy. This seemed odd to me as they weren't busy, and when a location has car hops etc. I presume they're trying to maintain an old timey, relaxed and courteous vibe, but it didn't bother me to move, and I've had to uphold silly policies I don't believe in in past jobs, so nbd. I moved. Within a few minutes my friend was there and I came back. The car hop looked a little sheepish when I pulled back up but... again, nbd, I get it, it's silly, but I get it. My friend was not happy they had me move but I told her, it's not the car hop's fault, I'm sure it's just some weird policy. Let's move on with our day. There were no paper menus, so we looked it up online... k. When we ordered someone ordered a sandwich which states it comes with the option of a pretzel bun... she said she didn't think they had it but she'd check. When the food came... the vibe CHANGED, with a lot of sudden attitude, the car hop, shared that they don't have the pretzel bun and if you want you can come talk to the manager about it. 😐 No one wanted to talk to a manager, my friend did recommend they update their menu about it. "Our menu IS updated." 😐OK. Well, you don't have paper menus and the online menu from the ArdyandEds.com still says you have an option you don't. But we weren't going to have an argument in the middle of the drive in about it. We ate our food, with a small discussion in the middle confirming we HAD ordered three sodas for three people and having her bring the last one. And called it a day. The sandwiches were good. The cheese curds would have been really good if they weren't hollow. Everything was fine food wise, not great, but fine. What I won't forget, though, is the feeling of being a nuisance. I'm STILL rehashing things, thinking I MUST have done something wrong. Smh. Maybe I AM too nice. Next time, if the person I'm with thinks they shouldn't tip, I'll let THEM make that decision, because I stood up for this girl after the whole "policy" thing, and now I feel like a pushover.
If you're going for keeping the old timey vibe, you need to follow that through. If you're not interested, just make it a drive thru and call it a day.
Either way, I don't see myself going back.

Came on a Saturday late afternoon, the customer service has been the worst I have seen in years! There were maybe one or two other cars in the parking lot.The feeling of being an inconvenience is an understatement. I actually wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here, unless you like being treated like you are a bother. Additionally when requested to make a change to the sandwich, I was told no and I could speak to the manager if I didn’t like it.
Don’t waste your time ….

I first ate at Ardy & Ed's in 2021 and it was a bad experience. They said they couldn't find me when I was sitting in space 11 and the ticket said space 11. So I got a cold burger after waiting over an hour. They should've remade the order. I went twice this year with friends and the service was really friendly and the food was good and hot. This is a classic 50's style American burger stand with great cheese curds, real shakes and damn good burgers!

The vibes! Ardy & Ed’s will take you back in time. It’s an old fashioned drive-up burger joint. The servers meet you at your car and deliver your meal on roller blades. I had the super burger, my son got the kid’s cheeseburger meal, and we both enjoyed an ice cold draft root beer in a frosty mug. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back.

The food is good. I do feel it's a bit pricey but that's just my opinion. However it takes an incredibly long time to get the food. I have eaten here 3 times and each time I have experienced this. One time it was very packed that time we waited over an hour for our food after waiting about 30 minutes for someone to even come take our order. So if you plan to come plan to have time on your hands. Time moves very slow here. Also the lady that took our order was not wearing rollerblades which I was pretty disappointed about. I thought that was half the point. That's all. I will not be eating here anymore as they always get our order wrong! Over $40 of food and I ordered buffalo they gave me Chipotle! I drove all the way home before I noticed! Such a waste. I will take my business elsewhere. I will no longer be eating here. I also order marinara sauce they gave me cocktail sauce. McDonald's at least gets the order right.

What a cute, classic car hop restaurant. They have a great selection of "burger-joint" food, burgers, chicken sandwiches and tenders, grilled cheese, and a BBQ sandwich to name a few. They also do fish (or shrimp) and chips baskets. And they have a great selection of sides. They also make their own real draft root beer, which you can purchase by the jug. They make an awesome black cow, using their root beer. 👍 With our burgers and tenders, we ordered a mix of different sides so we could all share (fries, onion rings and cheese curds). Everything was great! We had a really nice car hop, who was patient and helped us through the process because it was our first time there. And we had a nice view of Lake Winnebago, while we ate. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Oshkosh.

Kinda a bummer on the burger and cheese curds. Root beer was near perfect ...just a bit in the light side. Almost seemed just a bit watered down. And for the price of 1/2 gallon it shouldn't give that impression. Good enough to try them again and see what happens!

I stopped here on my way back home because it had good reviews and it looked like a cool place. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience. I ordered a burger, fries and a root beer. The burger had nothing on it. Not even ketchup and mustard. So it was just a tiny meat patty with a soggy bun. The root beer was warm and didn't have ice in it. The fries were pretty good though. The prices were a bit high in my opinion, especially for a plain burger. The lady that took our order was really nice though.

I usually get a gallon of root beer every time I visit Lake Winnebago, but it looks like the price for a gallon has gone from $9.75 in 2024 to $15.35 in 2025. That is more than a 57% increase. I won't be stopping by this year. It's a shame because the root beer is good, but not good enough to justify such a massive price increase. It's about $20 for 3 gallons worth of Sprecher bottles.

My friends and I came here during our trip to Oshkosh to check out the real life backrooms and this was honestly way cooler than the funny meme location. Very cool very awesome.

Had read an article about how great the hamburgers were. Mine was overdone and really dry, hard to swallow. Nostalgic wonder of Oshkosh. Wait staff glides around on roller skates. Classic (& VERY tasty) American foods. The best root beer you can buy around. Creamy and delicious custard. Wonderful place to eat whether you eat in your car or (our preferred) outside. Check it out, it's very worth it.
Our favorites are: grilled cheese, burgers, steak sandwich, and waffle fries with tartar & sour cream (with fresh chives 🤤). Gotta have it with their famous root beer for sure. You can taste the maple syrup hints and that it's crafted so well. 👀😋

By the lake and the building had lights. So that was nice and we enjoyed that.
The prices did not match up to the quality of food. We would even suggest just getting McDonald's if you want food.
The burger (that was practically just 2 buns) was not worth $5 and the cold fries weren't worth $3.
Took a while past when the lady gave us our menus to actually take our order. The parking lot wasn't super busy and there were 2 waiters outside.
Food came out on roller blades, so that's another tack onto the atmosphere.
However- my fries came out at a temperature I could hardly consider lukewarm. My burger was 90% bun. I double checked and saw that the patty wasn't even covering the whole bun. It had ketchup like I asked but I couldn't even taste that.
My boyfriend had the chicken sandwich which he had to wait to cool down because it was that fresh and hot. He said he ended up having to take off the tomato because it was hard. The chicken wasn't overdone, so that's another plus.
It's sad because we heard people rave about this a couple years ago. We finally decided to try it, but... maybe it was good when we first heard about it. Not now.
We will definitely not be coming back.

The idea is great and very retro. The carhops on roller skates and trays that hook on your car window are fun. They have an excellent system, asking that you turn on your hazard lights when you would like service. However, the "skinless" hot dogs were anything but, and the hamburger was just OK.

For was great except my bottom bun on my burger was hard. Very hard for me to eat. Partners buns were soft. We both had 🍔 burgers

Tasty food and a neat drive-in experience, complete with roller skates. There's also an area to sit outside your car with picking cables. They brew their own root beer, and it's quite tasty. The cheese curds are delicious, and I'm definitely going to try the deep fried mushrooms and turtle sundae next time.

Had some problems with our food there today order a bacon double cheese came with no bacon had chicago-style hot dogs buns were rock hard took them back made new ones they forgot to put all the toppings on they only put the peppers and mustard so told the waiter about it so they made new hot dogs and got them right and we're very good this time then the waiter brought us our money back which wasn't necessary hopefully somebody finds this little place and gives it a try the food is usually good

Went for an afternoon meal and yes it was busy and, OMG hot
Super friendly as always and the length of time to get the meal was surprisingly quick. Issue was I was charged for ranch and ketchup and never got it, wanted a pretzel bun and didn't get it, and the brat patty was less then desirable. It may have been me but it's been better there. I will never stop coming there as I have been stopping there since the 70's. Keep up the great work and see y'all on Thursday night

This place is a classic drive-in restaurant. The waitresses roller skate to your car to take and deliver your order. The food is excellent and the service is great. Get your 1950's fix on here.

I understand the cost of everything has gone up but the prices here ARE RIDICULOUS. I will most likely never eat here again. Nearly 20 bucks for a couple burgers and an order of fries is way too much for this type of place.
