We order from here all the time. Never had a bad meal. One of us orders the same dish nearly every time. On a few occasions I've ordered the wrong dish for them, and the owner will call to clarify if I had meant to order that dish. It's saved us some disappointment every time! I ordered from Asian House near woodmans east the other day and I was not impressed.

Wonton soup needed salt and pepper added. It was alright, though.
Orange chicken tasted like it was just OJ concentrate poured over popcorn chicken, so that was real nasty.
General tso chicken was alright, but no spice whatsoever.
Crab rangoon were the only thing I would return for, they were super fresh, crunchy, with good filling.

Order from a different place, they sold me old meat on all the dishes. The chicken was the worst it tasted sour. I went back, and she said it was fresh from last night? If the chicken was prep last night than why it tasted like it was going bad? Was it cheap meat, expire seasons, or contamination. I throw $100 of their food away. Sadly, it was the only one open.

I have never experience worse customer service in my entire life. Everybody knows that chow mein is noodles with vegetables and sometimes meat. That is even the definition of chow mein. I ordered vegetable chow mein online and once it got delivered I was immediately disappointed to see the noodles were missing. I called and the lady on the phone was extremely rude telling me that the city of madison does chow mein differently without noodles (which if this is the case it should be noted while ordering) and that is also not true because i have had chow mein here. Once I said this she hung up on me. I called again to which she hung up on me again. They DO NOT deserve anyone’s service. I will never be ordering from this place again

So, here goes and please excuse any typos.....I placed an order via Ubereats for 6 items that totaled $66.41 and Ubereats put a hold of $80.32 on my credit card. In the same order description, I asked for extra soy sauce packets and an extra dry rice noodle packet that normally costs less than $2 anywhere.

As soon as I submitted the order I noticed my total increased from the $66.41 to an additional $4-$5. I immediately called Asian House to find out what the extra charges were for. The lady with the soft voice,who is normally the same one who answers the phone or takes your order in the restaurant, told me the charges were for the normally FREE soy sauce packets and an extra dry rice noodles pack for my Egg drop soup.
Then, I went into my UberEats app to cancel the order right away within less than 2 minutes and received confirmation via the Uber Eats app that the order was canceled. So, I went about my next day or so but then wondered why I hadn't received any confirmation of the order cancellation and refund via email, or heard anything else.

I noticed the app wasn't showing a refund so I contacted Uber Eats to find out when I would get my refund. The 1st person out of maybe 5 that I called and chatted with told me they couldn't give me a refund because the merchant already started the order and they don't want to inconvenience the merchant so they don't offer refunds for orders canceled in the app. Keep in mind, the UberEats app allows cancellation of orders and DOES NOT initially show anything stating no refund will be issued in most circumstances.

I contacted several more UberEats agents because I said this has to be a misunderstanding but they all told me they couldn't help me and one even hung up on me. I also spoke to the lady at Asian House maybe 3 times and she told me they never received the money from UberEats for my order, so they can't give me a refund and to call UberEats for a refund. She then went on to say that UberEats pays them at the end of the month so they haven't been paid for the food yet.

This resulted in back and forth between Asian House and UberEats. UberEats said they sent the money to the merchant but then went on to tell me that when a customer cancels the order for any reason that is not related to a driver issue that the person who placed the order loses their money...meaning no refund....which ultimately means UberEats and Asian House stole my money for food I never received. UberEats allows easy/fast cancellation via their app, plus I literally canceled in less than 2 minutes so there's no way Asian House started preparing my order, as I was told by UberEats.

I provided proof that I canceled my order in less than 2 minutes and that Asian House couldn't have started the order within that time because I called them immediately after placing the order to question the additional charges they padded to my order for soy sauce packets and a dry rice noodles packet. I didn't agree to pay almost $5 extra for any soy sauce packets and a tiny dry rice noodles pack, but Asian House added the charges w/o my permission.

After Asian House padded almost $5 to my account for charges I didn't authorize, I asked for my refund for the order I canceled but they corroborated with UberEats to not give me a refund. So, in lamens terms, Asian House worked with UberEats to keep my money for food they never prepared and I never received. The fact the lady at Asian House never tried to refund me and kept sending me back to UberEats knowing they wouldn't refund me shows they were aware that they could pocket money for food they never sold. This is a scheme and I'm hoping to sue for this.

This is the lowest of the low. I gave Asian House another try even after receiving a bitten egg roll. What I got out of giving them another chance was they padded my order with charges for soy sauce packets and a dry rice noodles packet, denied receiving the money for my order, told me to dispute the refund with UberEats, and to this day have never refunded my money or even tried to deliver the food to me.

Being as my delivery was already late as well. She demanded I come to the store for her to show me the chicken. I then asked for a manager—or some type of refund or exchange. (Mind you she had hung up on me 3 times during this conversation) I called one last time, still just trying to get what I ordered or just a refund. I was willing to come to the store at this point. She continued to demand there was chicken in it and there was nothing she was going to do about it. Now at this point I am frustrated and tell her she is giving terrible customer service. BOOM. This is the worst Asian food I've had in Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Germany, France and Italy. Even on a Friday night this food sucks. The peppered steak tasted strongly of fish and the odor took over our house for at least a full 24 hours. The chicken fried rice with extra chicken barely had any chicken and was so bland that I added two tablespoons of basil and one of sage and a healthy grinding of salt to make it taste like anything other than vegetable oil.

I ordered $90 of food for my family. Their large shrimp fried rice only had 5 pieces of shrimp! I ordered a dozen shrimp egg rolls 3 of them didn't even have shrimp in them. They got my order wrong on top of it and gave us almost all rice and about 4 spoon fulls of vegetables and a few pieces of chicken. Not sure what happened... when we first started ordering we would get our food well before the estimated arrival and now it takes significantly after and sometimes I don’t even get a call when they’re here they just leave it at the door. They took 2 1/2 hours to deliver our food and when I called to ask where our food was it was clear they had missed it and then I was hung up on after them telling me it was on the way. No sorry or anything. Ultimately very disappointed they don’t seem to take customer loyalty very seriously so we’re finding a new place to take our business.

This is a hidden gem. I don't quite understand the low ratings for this restaurant, but as far as Americanized Chinese food, I have not found a better Chinese food restaurant in Madison than Asian House. I love Americanized Chinese food and have tried places from the Monona to Middleton, and the only other place that had it beat was PF Chang (and that, unfortunately, closed down a few years ago).

My only complaint is that some of the dishes lack enough meat (I'm looking at you, beef lo mein); however, I want to quickly add that the vegetables are always fresh, the noodles are tasty, and the sauce is not overly sweet or salty.

Now, I would give this place 4.5 stars. However, given the reasonable menu prices and high quality food, that alone elevates this establishment from 4.5 stars to a 5 star restaurant. In these uncertain times, I am thankful for establishments that serve fresh vegetables and fresh ingredients for such an economical price.

Ordered at 6, the food was suppose to be ready by 715 latest. I call at 745 and the lady says they are so busy the food isn't even done yet and it would be another 40 minutes. I get my food near 9 pm, not at all the promised time shown on eatstreet. Eatstreet said since it's asian house employee they can't do anything about it. The food was ok at best, at least it was warm. If you're so busy you're going to be 2 hours late on delivery you should call your customers and inform them of the delay. We had all already eaten by the time "dinner" showed up. Very disappointing especially with a good tip. Won't be ordering there anymore, not only was the wait ridiculous but the food was just OK

The good: food arrived faster than Eat Street told us, Singapore fried rice (though I’ll ask for it to be a little spicier next time).

The bad: I’ll start with the chicken chow mein. I’m used to chicken chow mein in a thick sauce with crispy noodles. What I got was some half-cooked celery and onions in a very thin, bland broth, served with crispy wonton chips. It’s just not your standard Americanized chow mein. The wonton noodle soup was disgusting. The wontons were chewy and too thick, the broth was bland, and there was a weird overall taste.

I’m still going to give this place another shot. I’ll try their sesame chicken, egg rolls, and chicken wings next time.

The egg roll was bitten off of, so the pic you see is what came directly out of this package. Have normally been a fan of Asian House even though others have given this place bad reviews, but now I am done. Will not be going back.

Great little place. I went here for soup when the hubby was sick and wound up getting a dish for myself. Wow, was I surprised! Fresh veggies, perfect sauce and nice portions. I had the black bean beef and it was great. I’m not a huge Chinese take out fan, but I would definitely eat here again!

Also to the people complaining about delivery, that’s on Grub Hub and is not the restaurant’s fault. I’d say complain to the right people and give this place a chance. People need to think before they hit the one star on reviews for that stuff, but we do live ina world full of impatient people who don’t see the full picture before they spout off with snarky remarks and reviews.

This is the place you go for classic Americanized Chinese food. Nothing was incredible but everything I had was really good. Staff was very friendly and were fast. Casual and simple with not a lot of seating. I will be eating here again in the future.

Amazing food and incredibly nice staff! Seriously, I travel around the country looking for solid lo mein, and Asian House is hands-down one of the best I have ever had...Certainly the best in the Madison area! Always fresh vegetables and consistently good food. For me, it's my only go-to place for Chinese food in the area.

We have ordered from this store for years without too many problems but tonight we waited a full 2 hours for our food, and then they didn't show up with the correct drink and couldn't offer me anything other than a shoulder shrug at the unacceptable replacement. FYI - Pepsi is disgusting, and 2 hours is an unacceptable delivery time.

I ordered some food and steamed dumpling was terrible. It had thick skin which was not fully cooked and I could taste the flour directly from it. My friends said steamed dumplings should be made with really skinny ones to ensure they are fully cooked. Dumplings from this restaurant look more like rice cake. Also the content was insufficient which just made flour taste stronger. I asked them refund for just steamed dumpling but they said "we prepared everything fresh, we deny for the refund." The dumplings were indeed not in a good shape to be sold, but they sold it and took economic benefit by providing bad food.

Also the appearance of "Boneless Spare Ribs" look like this ,so be aware of it. The website did not talk about the red sauce (greasy sweet and sour sauce), and it somewhat made me feel like not eating... Also did not taste good. I expected plain ribs which are seasoned with salt and pepper.

Anyways I understand why people said food don't seem fresh from this restaurant. Nothing from here was fresh. And the customer service was terrible, I won't be ordering from here.

I attached pictures so I hope people can judge whether they should eat from here or not. To be honest cookies and general tso chicken tasted greasy too and did not seem fresh as well.

They should accept their fault and provide better service next time rather than saying they provided everything fresh. It is surprising that I am the first one to provide the actual pictures.

Just google the images of the food "spare ribs" and "steamed dumplings" then people can know that they provided poor food for sure.

UPDATE: We've had two TERRIBLE delivery experiences here lately. First time, our order took nearly 2 hours to arrive. Tonight, the delivery driver showed up with NO change. (We had two twenties for a 20-something order.) It gets better . . . The driver said he could accept a check, so that's what we did. The restaurant CALLED US fifteen minutes later asking to return the check and saying they would bring change. Bottom line, the food is good (and some of it is REALLY good), but because of the poor/untrained/mismanaged customer service, we will think twice before ordering delivery from Asian House again.

Found a small dead spider in my food it was on a peace of chicken. I was sharing my food with a co worker and she pointed it out I called the next day just to inform them but they seem like it could have never happened. Like they did not believe me. Oh well I guess I won’t be eating there any more

All other nearby Chinese food for delivery arrives over cooked and the chicken is tough to eat. Asian House has fresh food every time and it tastes very good. Dumplings, general Tso chicken and fried rangun are my favorites. Delivery time is faster than ordering a pizza in my experience.

They took over an hour to bring my food I had 5 hungry kids waiting then when I tried to cancel the order the driver pounded on our door and woke up my 1 year old that had surgery this morning and then after we paid he refused to leave our property and called the cops stating he was threatened with a gun and all we did was ask him to leave the property

I've tried a few Chinese take out places on the east side and Asian House is by far the best. They consistently have the best flavor and value. Favorites include the kung pow chicken, lo mein, shrimp with lobster sauce, Mongolian beef, beef broccoli, hot and sour soup,egg drop wonton soup, and steamed dumplings. Delivery is prompt as well.

Things have changed. used to have great food.

Ordered online, which routed us to EatStreet app. I am totally okay with that. Added our items to the order and then added the request for free Rangoons with $15+ order. Double checked the order and pressed "place order" Received an email that the order was placed. and waited for it to arrive. Did not have the Rangoons upon arrival. Called them, and received a "too bad so sad" call eatstreet response, we don't see it with your order. When I told her I thought she was rude for a customer service person, she hung up on me. Won't be returning. HyVee is the place to go. Lots of meat, fresh food! Affordable!

Used to be much better we ordered Orange Chicken and General Tso. Both had very little chicken and plenty of breading.

Best Chinese food in this area!
I order about once a month. Their online ordering is great and is always delivered quickly.
My favorite dish is the Chicken Chow Mei Fun and the crab rangoons! Always delicious!
