I don't normally review places but I swung by for a quick taco lunch at a weird hour (2:30pm) and they blew my socks off. Quiet, chill ambience, some low key Spanish radio, and food that was good enough I actually bothered to get my phone out to review it because dang! I am coming back here and therefore hope this place stays in business!

I'm conflicted, because the food here is really good. However, I have not once actually gotten what I ordered, and tonight's was not even close. I have tried the bowls, tacos, and burritos on different occasions, and I always ask for no beans. I always get beans. Not a big deal, because it's not a food allergy for me, just a preference. Once I ordered chicken tacos, and it came with steak instead (and beans). I ordered a burrito, and it came with no salsa and no rice (and somehow extra beans). Tonight I ordered a chicken burrito bowl, and I got shrimp and tofu, no chicken (and beans of course!). An odd combination, but still tasty. My only thought is if someone did have food allergies, this could be kind of dangerous. So, if you aren't a picky eater and you don't have allergies, give this place a try, because it is delicious. But if either of those apply to you, I'd go elsewhere. And just once, I'd like to try a dish without beans.....please.....

The place is set up like a street taco restaurant. Patio is great during warmer weather. Not too many tables inside so seating can be a premium. Service can be a bit slower during the dinner rush. But that is ok food is worth the wait. Or you can always carry out.

Absolutely horrendous experience. The food ordered was wrong, the drink order was wrong, one person in our group waited 25 minutes while the rest of the party ate. The server was indifferent and had to be approached twice to get two tacos, which were not what we ordered. When we asked to speak to the manager, the cashier simply replied that he doesn’t speak English! The server actually rolled her eyes at us. This place is normally fantastic but what a fiasco tonight.

I’m not usually one to leave negative reviews, but the service here really left much to be desired. The food was decent, but I've definitely had better tacos elsewhere. Not only did it take over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, but the person who brought it out didn’t even acknowledge the long wait.

It seems like they prioritize to-go orders, especially since their indoor space is fairly small. Maybe this was just an outlier, but ultimately, I can only rate based on my experience.

Coming from Cali, we’ve been searching for Mexican food that’s at least close to authentic. AzTec’s tortillas were the best we’ve had so far, but we found ourselves looking for a little more flavour in the food. The hot salsa (while probably hot for many) was too mild for our taste. But we did appreciate that they had lengua on the menu!

All in all the food was still enjoyable, and closer to authentic than some of the other options we’ve tried in the area.

The food & margarita were awful. I ordered a pineapple mango margarita, it was literally fruit juice. There was absolutely no liquor in my drink. It looked beautiful but was a $13 fruit juice. I ordered a GRILLED chicken taco, a queso taco & rice & beans. When my plate came to the table it was wet. The entire bottom of my plate was wet, food sitting in a puddle. I picked up the GRILLED chicken taco & a ton of liquid ran out. I put the taco down and opened it up & the chicken was not GRILLED it was simmered dark meat chicken that looked disgusting, I didn’t eat it. The queso taco was good but soaking wet from sitting on the wet plate. The rice & beans were a joke, no salt, no flavor at all, absolutely no love. For $27 I expected a much better Mexican meal for 1 person. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The food was delicious—highly recommend the elotes! However, we did run into a couple of issues. First, there was some confusion around the food orders; several times, staff tried to deliver dishes to our table that weren’t ours. Second, we weren’t aware that we were expected to bus our own tables. We only found out later from others in our group that the staff seemed visibly annoyed. It would be helpful to have signage or clear instructions indicating that guests should clean up after themselves. We had assumed it was full service, especially given the price point—and we were happy to pay! I’d definitely come back, but probably on a day when the staff isn't feeling quite so overwhelmed by a large group.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They made two beautiful tofu tacos with cilantro and tomatoes. They offered more than three kinds of sauces. I liked the rojo sauce because it had a little kiick to it. The verde sauce was mild, but fresh. The service was fast & they included fresh lime slices 🍋‍🟩with my order. It is unreal how amazing their food is. Their tofu is the best I have ever tasted; it is incredible. I am vegetarian and when my family has tried a bite of my tofu burrito, they literally cannot tell the difference, like it's so similar to the taste of real meat I always panic that they gave me the wrong order haha. This place is so amazing for vegetarians and it would be easy to make most of their food vegan if you ask for no cheese. If you have never tried tofu and are considering it, get it here. It is so, so good and it's a phenomenal introduction to tofu since I know a lot of people are scared to try it. The texture and taste is pretty similar to chicken, it's just a little more bland and has a bit more of a bread flavor than a meat flavor if that makes sense. I love that they have a super inclusive menu with tons of options and variety; literally all their food is amazing. Their prices are also really reasonable and about the same as what you would find at Qdoba or Chipotle but the taste is like 1000 times better. My only complaint is that their website is kind of slow and doesn't work super well, but I always get the same thing now so it's not really an issue for me. I love stopping here any time I am in the Madison area, it's worth the 30 minute drive out of the way.

Overall I was very disappointed with my first visit. The server forgot one of my tacos and then argued with me saying I never paid for the third. I had no issues paying for the third taco but the way he handled the situation was very unprofessional. The tortillas were all underdone and soggy. I also tried the Birria queso taco and the tortilla was not grilled at all and overly greasy. Had some time to kill on a beautiful day and found myself on the sunny patio of this hidden gem. The menu offers selections for any palate. I enjoyed two tacos, al pastor (pork) and lengua (tongue). Tacos are served with fresh cilantro and onions with great choices for sauces on the side as well. Homemade pico and salsa Verde- very fresh! The tacos were not only beautiful, but incredible tasting. The service was friendly and fast. I didn't try the many tequila options, but I'll certainly be back and will include that as well! We live down the street so we were excited to try. We were very disappointed with our experience. To start, we paid $7 for bagged chips from the store and queso from a jar. The burrito bowl did not say it came with onions so I did not know to ask for them off, I am allergic and had to pick them all off. They did not give an option for beans like the menu said it did, and automatically put kidney beans in it. And, the best part was the giant fly that was splatted in the middle of the bowl on the lettuce. I did not eat my food. My partner got the steak tacos and said they were alright. Not sure why the tip options start at 15% when nobody waits on tables and you have to clean your own table. We will not be returning.

I recently moved to WI from Texas where I lived on the border for much of my life. I was starting to think I’d never be able to find great, authentic Mexican food here. But I found it at AzTec Taqueria!

I ordered the queso tacos and was blown away. I also tasted the torta (sandwich) and the elote (street corn); everything was full of flavor and memories of home. But far and away the best thing I had was the horchata. I’ve never had one as delicious as this one.

I do wish the salsa for the chips and salsa was bigger and the chips are not housemade which is a shame. But I give them 5 stars nonetheless as I sincerely wish them the best.

I’ll be back for seconds and thirds!

Delicious authentic tacos - simple but fresh and delicious. Corn tortilla, onion, cilantro, and meat. Perfection! I'm from southern California, and the two things I look for when I walk in to a taco place are 1) aguas frescas and 2) fresh salsa. This place has both, and they are also fresh and delicious just like the tacos. Service is extremely fast, both for take out and dine in. Highly recommend.

We recently moved back to the area from Austin (and prior to that LA), and we were pretty sure we'd struggle to find good tacos. Luckily we were wrong! This place is great!!! Homemade tortillas, amazing lengua, birra, asada, and al pastor were all top notch. The drinks were also on point, and the service was great as well. Highly recommend!!!

Like any woman, I LOVE tacos. It is both a snack AND a full meal! So while most tacos are good, there are times when tacos are amazing and just hit the spot. And this place is a real gem!

The beef tongue (lengua) tacos are sooo tender and amazing. The must marinate and cook that meat all day. It’s absolutely perfect. The tacos are simple but well seasoned, not too salty, but just the right amount of everything. I love the simple salsas that are offered with them, the side of lime just adds the kick it needs. Also, they have horchata! And some horchatas are better than others. AzTec’s horchata is quite perfect! They add a little extra cinnamon on top. This is an excellent little spot for the perfect taco fix. Incredibly satisfying!

Food is delicious. Quesadillas, tacos (lengua!) and Aztec salad. Came out fast and hot. Indoor / outdoor seating was lovely on a hot spring day. Music was not too loud. Very casual and kid friendly.
