1-Star Review:
This used to be my favorite place for garlic bread — now I can’t recommend it. I placed a to-go order (it wasn’t ready when I arrived, but that’s not my main issue). My complaint is that the garlic bread was cold, very dry (hardly any butter), and much smaller than it used to be. It used to be delicious, but now it’s mostly crust — hard, dry, and disappointing. If you want great garlic bread, go to Mama Mia’s or the North Lake Inn instead.

Coming here for years. Recent Saturday small pizza (carryout) was way overcooked. Last time I came here for carryout garlic bread was over toasted. Dined in w/relatives year ago & they disliked everything.
This restaurant doesn’t seem to live up to its legacy.

Its been quite a while since Was at Barberies, I see what I have been missing .The Garlic bread is a10 ,Just like it was years ago .. The quantity of toppings is awesome . The cost for my pizza was much less than the competition. The Service was perfect and I was impressed on how many people were there already eating a 5:00. Yes I will return .

We hadn’t been here for maybe 30 years and we were looking for a change from our usual Italian restaurant. We came on Friday around 6 pm. It was relatively busy, but not full. We stood and waited for almost five minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. We got seated is a booth; several were open.

I ordered the Meat Lasagna and my wife ordered the Snack and upgraded to the antipasto salad. The salad was big enough for both of us. The salad was tasty made with vinegar and oil. Both took awhile so they must have been made to order. Both tasted very good, though both were too salty. My only disappointment was I thought I must have gotten the Vegetarian Lasagna because I could find any meat. It was heavy on the Mozzarella cheese and lasagna noodles. I asked the server and she said it was a meat sauce. That didn’t change my mind. No meat to speak of. We switched dinners part way through. The meat balls in the Snack were overly salted too.

A nice place, friendly staff. I am not compelled to come back though.

My husband and I, along with our 2 grand-kiddos, chose Barbiere's as our choice for the first time out for dinner in almost 7-months after a fun filled day with the kids. It was such a disappointment.
We arrived at 4:45pm on a Saturday 3/1 (perfect for us with the littles- eat early before it gets to packed and can be out in case kids get unsettled to not ruin dinner for other patron). We were sat immediately and the dining room only had 2 other tables- a group of 2 and a 4top.
The server was nice and friendly to start, took our drink orders, and then dinner (or so I thought) when she returned with the drinks.
I ordered pasta with garlic butter for the 4yr old, chicken Alfredo for myself, and my husband ordered the chicken parm dinner special advertised on the board in the entrance.
About 10 minutes later, the table behind us received their ordered pizza. In the next hour, the dining room became full, and tables around us began receiving drinks, salads, soups, and bread for their dinners. We have only been given our drinks. An hour later, at 5:45pm, I asked our server how much longer, she said it would be right up. I asked her if she put our order in as a la carte or the dinner since other tables after us have already received salad, soup, and bread. She said "I put in as a la carte, I assumed that's what you wanted". I told her, no, we are here for dinner".
She then told us "oh I just assumed, I can get you a soup"...I told her if our dinner is being plated, no, just be sure we have bread, it's too late to get the other items at this point.
We waited another 5 minutes, still no food. Our 6mo old was beginning to get finicky, so my husband went to the server stand and told her to just make ours to go (she was just walking from the kitchen with our plates at this point). She asked "oh why"....my husband told her it's been already an hour, and tables that came after us already had their entrees and we have received nothing- not our soup, salad, or bread yet.
He returned to our table, we packed up the kids, and started leaving the restaurant.
I crossed paths with our server and she said "I was just bringing your food"...I told her it's been over an hour, you made the choice to make our dinner a la carte while I heard you asking all other tables what type they wanted, tables that came after after us received starters and main meals and we received nothing.
She responded saying our kitchen is very little and can only make so much at one time. I told her, 4 tables that came after us should not have received soup, salad, bread, and pizzas while we sat over an hour waiting for buttered noodles, chicken Alfredo, and a chicken parmesan. She responded by telling me our food was here (pointed to a bag) and this is our check and walked away.
I was IRATE at this point. I told my husband to take care of the bill, and walked out with the kids.
We drive home (45minutes) and pulled out our food. We waited an hour for buttered noodles (didn't expect much there), chicken Alfredo that taste like jarred sauce, and chicken parm (sauce was meh)..$51 for that with a diet coke, chocolate milk, and an n/a beer- which we were at least able to drink while we waited for the hour onsite.
Again, the 1 opportunity we had to go out to dinner on a Saturday night, we chose Barbiere's and it was such a disappointment. We will not be back. Again, I work hospitality in events with clients spending thousands for a 1-time experience. I fully get things will go wrong, but it's how they are rectified that makes the most lasting impression. This was not handled correctly at all! Our server did not care, made excuses and blamed the kitchen, and already forgot about us before we even made it out the door.

We went for an early dinner on Valentine's Day and had the best lasagna we have ever had. SO had the meat one and I had the veggie one. We both ordered the full dinner with soup, salad, meal, and dessert. We took one soup, ⅔ of both lasagnas, and dessert home for leftovers to feed us both two more meals. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Not sure what all the praise is about. I got the lasagna and garlic bread and overall the food was just bland. The garlic bread had the texture of reheated bread, and the besides the coating of oil on it had very little garlic taste to it. The lasagna was alright, but the tomato sauce was rather watery and was reminiscent of cheap grocery store sauce than something I would expect from a restaurant. It ended up being mostly noodles and cheese and could have used some salt. Disappointed and most likely won't return.

Our family normally loves Barbiere's and recommend them to others, but tonight our opinion changed. We placed a to-go order, including a pizza and 3 pasta dinners. We requested no soup and double salads for 2 of the dinners. We have made this request multiple times over the years, and it's never been an issue. The man taking our order tonight was polite, unlike the normal person who takes the orders, gave us a total and time to pick up. When my husband arrived and checked in, they forgot some of our salads so he notified the man working the counter, in turn, he told the man in the kitchen, which turned into a bigger issue than it needed it to be. He was very vocal about not wanting to make the extra salads and made my husband pay an additional fee because of this request. Instead of giving us the normal little container the salads come in, he "squished 3 salads into 1." Even after he paid and tipped, the man in the kitchen continued to complain and be rude. We never mind paying for special requests, but it has never been an issue before, it was not disclosed at time of placing the order, and even after paying the additional money, he continued to be rude. We understand restaurants get busy, and things get stressful, but it's no excuse to act like that or treat people like that. Barbiere's can do better. It is not the point, it's the principle. We are very disappointed. My husband came home upset, upsetting the rest of us. Our Sunday dinner was not enjoyable.

On Saturday November 16th went here for an early dinner. They sat us at a table under a vent that was blowing cold air. They were pretty much empty so right away we asked if we could move to a different table as we have in the past. The staff said we were not able to move. We have been coming here since childhood and never had an issue until tonight. We left and went to Capri on 84th and Beloit. They had great food. Capri may be our new place for Italian.

I do not understand all these high ratings. I got pizza from here once during the pandemic and it was a terrible experience, service was bad, pizza was bland (and incorrect) but the world was a weird place so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. We got it again for a family dinner and we went all out, pizza, salads, breads, all of it. Over $90 worth of food. We all ate maybe one piece of pizza and all agreed it was just bad. Again, extremely bland, crust was chewy, salads were mediocre at best. The bread was the most tolerable thing and even it wasn’t that great. We threw out most of it. $90 in the garbage. We’ll stick to Balistreri’s from now on.

I come here semi regularly but it had been a bit. The spaghetti sauce has gotten blander, no Italian taste to it at all, was basically tomato sauce on pasta. Their garlic bread, which used to be amazing and should have its own food group, was not good either. Barely any garlic at all, was just hot buttered bread. Don't know if it's a new cook, how they do it now, or just an off night but I'll be staying away for a while.

I think I was expecting a more robust pizza, but it was cool. We also had a salad which only consisted of iceberg lettuce and a few grape tomatoes. We also ordered the lasagna. I absolutely loved the butter bread. It was incredibly crunchy with no garlic salt or spread which was a plus for me. Please get the lemonade! Very refreshing!!! Overall, we enjoyed our visit! So, just to explain my individual ratings...4 stars for the food because we absolutely loved & enjoyed the pizza we ordered; however, the garlic bread wasn't the best. It had a delightful crunch, but it seemed more like a buttered loaf than garlic bread that we're used to having.

First visit, and it was an adorable/quaint spot to enjoy a meal for Valentine's. Our server was amazing, don'tthink we got her name initially but....she was polite, kind, smiling, and she seemed overall happy to be there. And she checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay.

Garlic bread is always the best. It's about 1.5-2 inch thick slice of Italian bread dredged through butter and then seasoned and toasted. Their pizza always has a heaping portion of mozzarella cheese. They have a great tasting thin crust and pizza sauce. A time tested staple for Milwaukee county.

I’ve been going here for years because the food is delicious. I’ve noticed the prices keep going up every time I go there ( about every 2-3 months now because it’s so expensive) but after all the years , I got a pizza with thicker crust than their thin delicious crust. I’m not happy that they changed it so I doubt if I’ll ever get pizza from there again. Why did they change the popular recipe? 😖

Ordered a pizza and garlic bread over the phone. Pizza was cold, worst pizza we’ve ever had. The crust was chewy, and I wondered if we were eating a frozen pizza that was reheated. The taste lacked. The garlic bread was completely soaked in butter that it was dripping.

We have been coming to barbieres since I was very young never any problems loved the food. In the past 3 years it has been hit or miss. The pizza has been soggy not cooked and raw sausage on it and the garlic bread has been hit or miss also . Last night I picked up a pizza and got home and it was not cooked looked like a 1/2 baked pizza,I called and told the person on the phone and he said " I took it out of the oven it looked done to me. " I said I was bringing it back and asked that he make a new pizza he said "yeah" and hung up. We waited 20 minutes and went back to get the new pizza and all he said was sorry looked done to me you like it more brown. I just took my pizza and left didn't want to argue. Sadly looking for a new pizza place to go to after all these years.

One of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. We have been going for decades. Their pizza IMHO is one of the best around. If you like the thick cut garlic bread, theirs is top notch (dipped in the meat sauce is fantastic. Service is always good, so please tip your servers well.

Though the crust is a bit thicker than I prefer, it is crispy. More sauce would be good.

My Group of 11 people had a wonderful time today for lunch at Barbiere's Italian Inn on Bluemound. Within the group we had a large antipasto salad, garlic bread, Lasagna, ravioli and 2 large pizzas. We finished off with Tiramisu and spumoni ice cream. The service Maddie gave us was exceptional - always anticipated our needs and provided what we needed mostly before we even asked.
Food excellent, Service - even better than excellent. Only negative, and a slight negative, was that the bathroom could be spruced up a little.

We ordered meat lasagna and chicken Alfredo ala carte for take out. Both were flavorful and plentiful.

The Alfredo is one of the best I've had, with lots of small pieces of grilled chicken and mostaccioli coved in sauce. The lasagna has a unique taste with plenty of sauce and cheese, not a traditional thick piece of mostly pasta.

The garlic bread is great - thick slices of Italian bread with plenty of butter and garlic smell, but the taste was not overwhelming. (I don't t normally eat anyone's garlic bread)

I look forward to trying out more at a future date.
