I risked coming here for the first time because I had my dog with me and saw that they had a spot outside for dogs. There was a nice fenced in area for 2 tables with dogs. Food was good pub grub.

I don't understand how this place is "dog friendly". There are literally 2 small tables in an extremely small space that is designated for dogs. I brought my dog and followed the instructions of not bringing the dog inside the other gated off patio area. I sat down and waited for service. Not sure how anyone would know I was there. There was no way the wait staff would have been able to see me sitting WAY out in the Doggie area. After sitting there for 20 minutes, we left. What a waste of my time. I then tried going again by myself. I walked in and tried to get service. After 20 minutes, I left again. I won't be back. Horrible service.

I NEVER write negative reviews but am disgusted right now.

One of the absolute worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Drove 40 minutes to come to this restaurant that is advertised as dog friendly to take my dog who has TERMINAL CANCER out to dinner as it’s one of her “bucket list” items. She’s a 10 year old English Bulldog, who goes everywhere in her stroller. When we arrived I noticed a hand-written sign on the patio stating the dog area was closed due to the heat- it was 8:15pm and only about 75 degrees and completely shaded; so I went in to ask thinking surely they’d tell me I’d be fine to take her on the patio- mind you, she’s 10 years old, deaf and gets carted everywhere in a stroller so no different than me taking my child to a restaurant aside from the fact that she wouldn’t scream, cry, or throw anything like a child would… she would not have been a bother to ANYone, and was told that they “weren’t doing dogs today because of the heat.” I just want to reiterate that I’ve been an English Bully owner for almost a decade- I know when it is and when it isn’t safe for her to be outside and always air on the side of caution; at this time of night she would have been perfectly safe outside. I am completely disgusted at the lack of empathy, common sense, courtesy and customer service I was met with. Needless to say, we’re driving the 40 minutes home, Farley didn’t get to go out to eat and enjoy one of her last days with us when she is still able to be out and about. I almost never post negative reviews, but I am so appalled at what I just experienced that I felt compelled to do so. I urge you not to give your business to this 0/10 establishment.

I googled dog friendly restaurants and Barkleys pops up first. Dog on the logo and everything. Looks great! So the dog area was super tiny (2 tables) and dogs weren’t even allowed in 95% of the restaurant! I am guessing they used to be more open, then had a dog fight or something and reined it in to just two tables. They ought to just change the name at this point.

Just moved in the neighborhood noticed a neon sign for daily specials. Thought I’d stop in tonight for a. Gyros special stopped in and ordered it got home not what I expected. The fries was great but the Gyros meat was chopped in small pieces quarterly. It had more purple onions and tomatoes on it than anything else that made it cold My guess 20 little pieces of Gyros meat and was cold don’t get me wrong. I did order it in person around 8:30pm but it basically look like it was thrown together. and only reason I’m giving this review is because if it happened to me, does it happen to other people it be nice for feedback? Maybe it was just my bad experience but speaking from a person that worked in the industry. I think it should’ve been handled better than that or prepared. but as far as it goes with the atmosphere, it has outdoor seating seasonal customer service was great. It has exactly what I’m looking for as a neighborhood restaurant/bar. They have game nights which I liked. Maybe dining inside for food might be better as far as it goes with takeout. I’m gonna second-guess on that. I explained to the staff this is my first time coming into their establishment. and I tip the cashier $3.00 dollars. because of the great customer service. I did talk to the manager Al the next day and he understood the situation and made it right. He reimburse me for take out and gave me a $15 gift card for my next purchase. I just like to say thank you.

1st time trying the fish fry. My friend had the fried and it was decent. I had the baked and was disappointed. 2 tiny little pieces of fish came. Not even loins. I really wanted to like it but felt it lacked a real cod flavor and size. Baked potato was over cooked and think it was in a warmer for a long time.

My husband and I have loved coming to Barkley's since 2019. We always get the curds when we visit, and he loves coming for some beer. We've been going around the stateline trying different burger joints to find the best burger. Ordered the Barkley Burger. It was so well done it was dry. The grilled flavor was nice and it was a sizable burger, but lacked the juicieness that makes burgers great. Fries were just ok-nothing special. Service was good but we were unable to sit on the patio bc they were short-staffed. Atmosphere is typical of a bar- loud music etc but it was clean and overall family friendly.

Great experience :) Friendly staff that seemed to be working really well together and attentive to customers- one person went as far as walking someone who was dealing with an injury to a barstool and getting them settled personally. Food was delicious, tap beer was offered in different sizes. My chili cheese dog was amazing, I could taste that it was flame grilled with fresh chili.

I am so bummed. Rough day, really looking forward to a great burger. I wanted to treat myself. Looked up the best burger in Janesville and decided on Barkley’s. I ordered it for takeout and didn’t check before I left. Got home, so excited! The rye bread on my patty melt was burnt, quite burnt. So much so I ate the food without it. I did not want to drive across town to take it back. There were two other customers there, so not too busy to forget the food on the grill. Really bummed. Went for Valentines dinner, and the food was fantastic! We got a table right away, as well as a drink, waited for 30 min for anyone to check on us or take our order. I eat out frequently. That was the worst meal I have ever been served. Prime Rib was refrigerator cold, not like a steak that has been sitting off the grill too long, but ice refrigerator cold.

I looked forward to visiting Barkley's Burgers, Brews & Dawgs since my move to WI 6 months ago. Very disappointed! Restaurant barely half full, yet it took waitress forever to take order after we seated ourselves. Strawberry Margarita special was decent, which was brought quickly, but a 50 minute wait for an appetizer and two burgers without one check in by server. Waitress was gruff and seemed annoyed the rare moments we did see her. Would have been okay if food was good, but it was not. The fried onions I had so looked forward to tasted AWFUL. Looked fine, but tasted burned, I suspect from bad oil. Burger of the month stated prime rib addition, which was a tiny morsel near impossible to find. Great Dane burger was near flavorless and beyond well done. Fries were cold. It is hard to make a burger I don't like, but Barkley's did. Prices were high, food was sub par, wait was totally unacceptable and atmosphere was bright and uncomfortable on wooden bench booths. I will never go back.
