Bassett St had a remodelling and menu revamp recently. They got rid of all-day breakfast, which was the main thing that made me a regular. They don't have the classic diner customizable breakfast anymore too which is a step back. I love classic diners and the revamp has taken away that feel. The decor is more modern and it just turns into a boring American restaurant for evenings now. Still a good brunch spot, but it used to be a lot better.

First, my niece has Celiac so for those that have it and are going, it is a safe place. As usual I recommend telling them you have Celiac and therefore to do their best with cross contamination…prepare on a clean surface, clean hands/utensils, keep gluten items separate etc

Visited here at the recommendation of a recruiter for the company I applied for. It was a fantastic option for brunch. They offer all the classics, including biscuits, pancakes, french toast, and more. They really take everything to the extreme. Our server was friendly and took care of us. I particularly enjoyed the pancakes. We had to pack them up, not for lack of flavor but because of huge portions.

Stayed at the hotel... First time to this restaurant, they got my order wrong, completely wrong. It was busy so I didn't say anything.
Then I went the next day (Sunday), at 2:30pm and didn't want to sit at the breakfast bar because it has no back support. She told me I had to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. There was literally 10 open tables, it wasn't busy. I left, will never go back. It's extremely loud anyway, no loss.

This place was packed and for good reason! 5/5! We had the steak and eggs and the weekly specials for $20! The special came with appetizer, main meal and dessert. I had the pountine, salmon blt and donut flight. I seriously felt like I robbed the restaurant because for $20 boy oh boy did I get the most delicious meal!!! I was so full but I ate everything! The salmon blt sandwich was one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had! I was raving about it to my husband! His steak came cooked perfectly to his liking and he had nothing but good things to say about the chimichurri sauce. The salad that came with both of our meals was dressed perfectly and so good/fresh! Our server was attentive. Bathrooms clean! Loved the vibes! Sad to see a formerly great place go so downhill.

It used to be great. Good atmosphere, good food, especially the chicken donut meal!

The chicken donut used to be the best and most unique thing they had that you couldn't get anywhere else. Now they have replaced it with chicken and waffles which you can get literally everywhere else. How is that an upgrade? Why do you think you have so many donuts left at the end of the day in your donut case? Duh!

But now, this place is a No Go!

Yesterday I arrived to a totally different layout {there was nothing wrong with the old layout, but....Ok) and totally different menus.

That right, I said menus, because now apparently they have an AM and PM menu and if you come in the PM, most of the breakfasty stuff is gone...fail!

Menu totally changed. With most of our favorite stuff gone we just ordered a burger and a club sandwich figuring those would be the safest bets. Nope. They were terrible!

I've had better gas station burgers. You could tell this one was just a previously frozen hockey puck of beef, ill-seasoned, with some mediocre American cheese slapped on top, weirdly-doughy non-toasted kaiser roll, and some weird house-made sauce on it.

Their burgers used to be awesome, this burger was actively bad.

The club sandwich was even worse! Limp soggy bacon, tasteless guacamole, dry chewy turkey, and worst of all some kind of watery smoky mayonnaise that they called "garlic aioli."

They put so much of this stuff on the sandwich that it was literally falling out while being eaten, it was nasty nasty nasty, with no hint of garlic at all.

On top of all this, when I asked for some mustard for my hamburger, we were informed that since the new ownership took over, there apparently is no mustard of any kind in the entirety of the restaurant!

That's right not one bottle! How are you going to be a restaurant that has sandwiches and not have any type of mustard?

Finally they brought me out some sort of hot honey mustard that was more honey than mustard and made the burger taste worse.

It was just an awful awful experience. They need to bring back the old menu, BRING BACK THE CHICKEN DONUT, and fix this place back to what it used to be.

Bassett Street Brunch Club was recommended to us, and we were disappointed. Our server was indifferent and inattentive, we did not get our bloody marys, the food at best was a 2 out of 10, including the donuts (the donuts tasted like what you would find on a sale table at a local grocery store). We had the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce was completely off (we tried to figure out what was added to it for a slightly brownish color but we couldn't figure it out), the bacon was blah, and I was only served one piece of toast with my breakfast which was two eggs over easy, bacon and country potatoes. On top of that, to have to pay for parking, it's a no-go a second time for us.

They remodeled the place and color scheme, which looks quite nice.
The food hasn't changed much,although it does seem to be better presented, the adding of the signature Brunch Club burger was a great idea, while removing the tomato soup was dissapointing, in my opinion.
They made part of the seating a little more uncomfortable by removing the booths, which could fit more people and made it one long bench with several tables which are quite close to each other.
Although maybe from a business perspective, it encourages the flow of customers and avoids people just taking booth space. In the time there, I did see many more people going in, eating, and leaving faster, this allowing others to enjoy a meal and even reduce wait time.
Overall it's a nice place to visit and have recommended to visit more than once.

The changes they made on the food are not favorable the burger used to be good now it's two over cooked discs of meat, like chewing on a napkin, the fries seem like they were sitting out for a while. The omelet wasn't made right. The soup was cold. This is surprising because usually everything is good.

Brunch club is usually very busy, and there is a long wait, so that makes them lose a star . Other than that their service is great and staff also . Actually, they have a reduced line of beer, so that loses another star they do not have much variety of it. The food is great, the tomato soup and burgers are great, and the fry portion is very generous (very) .
Make sure you ask for a table with Elia she is great and always takes great care of you she deserves the 5 stars

Came in on Saturday the Sunday 29th ordered 2 root beers, a raspberry iced tea and received 1 iced tea and 2 prickly pear Paloma’s. When we asked if the 2 Paloma’s were alcoholic drinks (because we didn’t know what they were) the server was very annoyed that we would ask that. We didn’t even know what these drinks were until they ended up on our bill. Food was cold and server was really annoyed with us asking to take the drinks back and was chatting with other servers pointing at us. We ordered the raspberry iced tea and a root beer and were brought over two drinks that looked like an iced tea and root beer. After taking a big sip, I realized the drink was loaded with tequila. I am 5 months pregnant and my guest is no where near legal drinking age. We were both served alcoholic drinks and when we brought this to the attention of our server she was extremely annoyed and inconvenienced by it. We did not get end up getting our original drinks and when she brought the bill, there were Prickly Pear Paloma’s on the bill. After again talking to the server, she was extremely dismissive and made us feel to be an issue. Not to mention, our eggs were ice cold but at that point no one had come over to ask us about it and we already were made to seem like an inconvenience. One of the worst brunch experiences and I am still anxious from drinking this alcoholic drink!

They reopened it and changed their recipe. I’ve ordered the Benedict in this restaurant for more than 10 times. It was pretty good and I really enjoyed it. Now they renamed it to classic Benedict. They replaced muffin with biscuit, bacon with ham. The eggs are smaller. The dish is smaller. I’m super disappointed and I don’t think I will go to this club anymore, at least for next few years.

They recently reopened after a renovation. The new space is bright and open but the design does allow it to get noisy when the place is busy (which is pretty much every weekend morning).

Every time I tried to visit, the wait was anywhere from 40 mins to 1.5 hours. I also called them multiple times to ask about the wait time, but they never answered.
The baked potatoes on the side were all right. I wish they had more seasoning. The Savory French Toast was a bit too salty for my taste, and the Hot Tot burrito was good but just a standard breakfast burrito.

We experienced horrible service during lunch yesterday. We will never return. It started off by the 6 of us waiting more than 10 minutes for water.

The place was not busy. Now we know why.

Three of us had tried several times to catch the attention of the hostess (our table was immediately next to her); each of us said yes, she DID make eye contact...and each time she looked the other way. Two of the times we were trying to notify someone that bacon was in my sister's meal when she had requested none, and the other time we were looking for a second beverage (iced tea, tomato juice, chai, etc ).

When our server finally made her way to our booth that one and only time during our meal, we felt like she did not want to be there. (We saw that she and another server had enough time to chat toward the other side of the restaurant.) I told her about the bacon, and the server replied with a blank 'sorry' and shrugged her shoulders. She then offered to have it remade and my sister said no, we can't be here even longer (hint hint) because she had to leave for an appointment. The server started to turn away, and I jumped in with 'AH, we'd like more beverages, please.' She said 'Oh, ok.' (Seriously?) My sister picked out the bacon..she couldn't rely on timely service.

They ran out of tomato juice. That in itself is no problem. However, the server didn't offer an alternative of any kind, which it seems all other places do. You know, like 'Sorry but we're out of tomato. Would you like bloody Mary mix or another juice? We have orange, grapefruit, apple and cranberry.' Nope. Nothing. She was silent. I then asked if they had grapefruit juice and I did get that.

She returned with our second round of beverages, but not again until she brought the bill. Which also was wrong. When she took our orders I had requested separate checks--2 people on one and 4 on another. She had put all on one. She said 'Oh...ok' (like it was a new request!), left, and came back with two bills. Unfortunately, she didn't adjust my sister's breakfast in *any* way for the bacon error. Really? Couldn't even comp her iced tea? Wow.

We were (are) not a boisterous or demanding group. My sister was visiting from Dubuque, and we intended to enjoy a nice meal with catch-up chat. We wound up feeling very, very disappointed in the service. The food was mid at best in our opinions.

Was in Madison over the weekend looking for a vegan breakfast. Bassett Street has several options, so went with the Vegan American. Overall, the experience was wonderful - absolutely loved the atmosphere, especially on a typically chilly Madison winter day. The food was plentiful and good, but not quite great - loved the scramble and the thick toast, while the potato seasoning was very tasty it lost flavor before the large potato wedge was finished, and the veggie spices didn’t resonate. Definitely plan to go back and try other vegan options in the future.

This was my third visit to this restaurant. On my first trip, I had a great breakfast and left impressed. Sadly, my second visit fell short, and my most recent experience was downright disappointing. The fries and iced Horchata Blanca were the only parts of the meal I genuinely enjoyed.

We began with the cheese curds, which were okay, but there was a random fried vegetable mixed in. My girlfriend, who usually loves their oatmeal crème brûlée, was let down when it arrived without the signature caramelized sugar top—it looked like it had been hurried out of the kitchen. I ordered the bacon burger, and it was a letdown. The patties weren’t as thin as a good smash burger should be, the bacon was chewy, the red onion was overpowering, and the whole thing was bland and painfully dry.

Spending $50 on a meal (close to $60 with tip) and leaving hungry was disappointing. The service was excellent, but that alone isn’t enough to bring me back.

If you decide to visit, I’d suggest sticking to their breakfast menu and skipping the savory or dinner items.

What a cute spot! We were in Madison for the weekend and were happy to find this restaurant in the same building as our hotel. The space is bright and colorful and the staff is wonderfully attentive. The manager checked in on us throughout our meal and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend the tater tot burrito!! The iced coffee is also fantastic - not the usual diner stuff! I visited Basset st on Friday morning around 9am. The lady at the host stand was very nice, and the only highlight of our time here. Our server took 30 minutes to bring our drinks despite there being only a 5-10 minutes wait. We have seen this place at an hour and a half wait before. And then my order got messed up so I politely asked that it be fixed and she had an entire attitude and yanked the plate away as it was my fault. While I was in the middle of eating my side of potatoes, I still had the potato on my fork and she had yanked my plate away. This was honestly so unprofessional and rude. She was the one that messed up my order so I’m not sure why she was mad at me!? We felt very unwelcome. And then, when we got up to leave to go back to the hotel I left my box on the table, so I turned Around to go get it, and she had chucked it in the trash right away, despite me being gone less than two minutes. I’ve confronted her and asked where she had put it because most people would put it at the host stand for a couple minutes to see if people come back for their fully paid for meal, And she said, very smug, “I threw it in the garbage”. So the meal that I paid fully for I didn’t even get to eat, considering by the time she had fixed my plate I wasn’t hungry anymore and then it got tossed in the trash. I wouldn’t recommend going here because they hire servers with people skills

I've gone here a couple of times and I have not been disappointed! The food is always consistently delicious no matter what I order and the staff are always polite and attentive. Their coffee is made well (iced or hot). My favorite thing to order is their horchata iced latte. The picture is their Chicken and A Biscuit dish (very good!). It does get busy during prime hours and there is no specific parking for the restaurant. There is street parking available and a nearby parking garage.

Normally very good food but take-out is very hit and miss. Today was the third time we’ve either not received an item or gotten the wrong item (honey-sriracha wings (?!?!) instead of pork carnitas hash). The way the bags are wrapped makes it pretty much impossible to check in the restaurant or car on the way back, so we are stuck with getting a refund online or driving back and finding parking. There’s not an excuse to put a box labeled wings in an order that didn’t include them, they need to pay better attention or if you’re too busy on weekends turn off online ordering.

The food's great, but the service is lacking, especially as of late. I've worked in the food industry before, so I know sometimes there are off days, but the poor service is becoming consistent enough where I no longer want to dine here. The latest incident is that I placed a large carryout order and one of the entrees was missing. I called 4 times, no one answered. After arriving at the restaurant, they were very dismissive about fixing the issue and I had to clarify multiple times what the missing order was for it to be fixed. It then took almost an hour for a simple chicken Cesar salad to be made as they first couldn't remember what the order was, then the chicken was left out, and then the dressing was left out. This resulted in having to juggle three boxes as they couldn't even be bothered to give me a bag. Again, I get there are some off days, but with 3 front of staff for 3 tables, it was not busy by any means.

Jensen was the best server I have ever had in my entire life! She was fun, easy to talk to, and super attentive. It was enjoyable watching the ease in which she intersected with her coworkers and how much of a family they all seem to be. On top of that, the food was spectacular and the ambience superb. Pretty disappointed in my first time here. After hearing rave reviews, I was expecting much better service. Our server was inattentive and we ended up having to go to the bar for silverware after our food came, because we couldn’t track our server down. We were out of water and it was so hot and humid inside the restaurant, it was difficult to even enjoy our food. Food was pretty good, but it would’ve been better if I had a drink to wash it down. Might give it another shot, but so far, not impressed.

We sat for a while, done and waiting. Wanted to order donuts but was never acknowledged, unfortunately. One of the best brunch places in Madison (only downside was the wait)! I came here for brunch with friends (Sunday at 11am so pretty busy) and had to wait ~1 hr for a table. However, the food was worth the wait! The lemon ricotta pancakes were absolutely delicious (and were a very fluffy & filling stack of 3). The “toastest with the mostest” (avocado toast w/potatoes) was pretty good too, really enjoyed the potatoes. Overall, loved the food & service, highly recommend!

I will go here just for the chicken and biscuit with the corn sausage gravy. It was worth the 45min wait. My chicken was fried well and the gravy was literally the best sausage gravy I’ve had so far. I love coming to this place. Look, when I tell you there food is on point, it is on point. They never miss. Love the atmosphere here. Everyone is friendly. The front host is always greeting you with a smile. And they seem to love doing their jobs. The Momoses are what I have when I'm visiting Madison Wisconsin. When I tell you they are the best in the city, you won't find any other like these. (The best I've ever had), and I've had plenty from others. The price of the food is very affordable. They have inside and outside dining, which is great. I like that they have a small menu that packs a punch when deciding on what you want.

Their breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all good. Very clean inside with a nice bar. Bathrooms clean, with a very nice staff of great workers. I am telling you that you will not go wrong coming to this nice restaurant. Just a heads-up, you might have to park and walk as this place has no parking, but it's ok. Once you get here and see the experience, you won't be disappointed. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time with family, a date, or friends.

The food was okay, but service was ridiculous. When I first sat, I asked the waitress if it’s okay that I order first and stay here wait for my friend to join later, who will also order. And she said yes, that’s fine, but they have a two hour limit, and she can make it work. P.s. This is Monday morning when many tables were empty, not weekend brunch times. I said that’s okay, then I ordered a bunch of food. Afterward, she comes every ten minutes asking me if I need any boxes. After three times, she comes and tells me again that they have a 2 hour limit, while I was only there for ~50 mins and only touched 10% of the food I ordered. After all that, I just asked for the check and left. I still tipped 20%, but I believe it also worth a comment to capture this absolutely ridiculous situation, where the staff only wanted to flip table and kick you out.

My friend got the breakfast bagel sandwich, and she said it was delightful! The bagel was fluffy and the garlic aioli was top notch.

I had the pork carnitas hash with the kitchen made biscuits, it was amazing. All of it. So tasty. And the biscuits were SO good.

We then shared a serving of the Lemon ricotta pancakes. Those were the STAR of the show. Amazing.

I will be back, and I’ll try the burrito! I’ve heard so many great things.

Atmosphere was amazing. A playlist of oldies was playing. The vibes were immaculate. Highly recommend!

We had never eaten here before. But, I thought I'd order a delivery today for lunch. Absolutely delicious!! I ordered the Butternut & Bleu Salad, 3 Fish Tacos and the Classic Bacon burger with fries. WOW! the burger was so juicy and delish, and the fries tasted homemade. The tacos were some of the very best that we have ever had!! Everything came HOT, which can be a problem when ordering for a delivery or carry-out. AND the salad is my new go-to for a salad!! Perfect! We're so happy we ordered today. Had to knock a few stars off my go-to brunch spot today, and here's why: I used to love coming here for the chill vibe, awesome coffee, and some alone time with my thoughts. But this time, things felt off. Right after I finished eating, the waitress was on me to pay up and bounce because they were "super busy." I would totally get it if people were actually waiting for tables, but that wasn't the case – I saw a few open tables around.

I was still sipping my coffee and didn't see why I had to rush. Even weirder, the two people chilling at the next table weren't getting the same hurry-up treatment. Made me wonder... what gives?

Always thought of this place as my little escape, but leaving with a bad taste that wasn't from the coffee. Kinda bummed out and thinking twice about coming back.

My wife, daughter, and I met my buddy and his two kids for dinner. Wanted a pleasant atmosphere with a nice menu. Bassett Street Brunch Club delivered! We all ordered breakfast main dishes and my buddy and I added a couple draft beers along with the chicken fried Brussels Sprouts and cheese curds. The service was quick and the food was hot. As everyone devoured their meals we were able to all hear and join in the conversation. I’m sure there are times when it gets noisy, but it was so nice that we didn’t have to compete over a stereo or dull roar of other conversations. Definitely a great little restaurant in the downtown Madison area.

Was here a while back, and absolutely loved it! Had brunch with a friend and my toddler and the environment and food were wonderful for the adults as well as my son! Pictured is the farmers hash and bloody Mary! Both were absolutely incredible. The farmers hash came with so much food, I was unable to finish the plate. Everything was so fresh!
