We stumbled upon this amazing place while staying in Bayfield. Very attentive owner and staff! Knowledgeable and great detail about all dishes. Drinks and food were well prepared and wonderfully presented. Will definitely be back on future trips! Fun date night location!

Came here randomly on a Thursday night when we got into bayfield and it was a nice find! Had a martini and a bread board, service was great, martini was great, ambiance was pretty cool. Fun history that it’s been there for almost a century!

This place was recommended to us for a bachelorette party dinner for 16 girls. My group contacted Larry (owner) in advance who curated a 5 course menu for us based on our budget and boy did he deliver.

The tables were set when we arrived with a gorgeous charcuterie board. Our second course was an herby salad, followed by a truly life changing 24 layer vegetarian lasagna. After the lasagna we each were served a perfectly cooked steak medallion over asparagus and purée (to die for). And finally a perfect caramel flan for dessert.

We had wine with dinner but the group opted to order cocktails as well and the Espresso Martini and French 75 were incredible.

I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in Bayfield!

We had a bachelorette party of about 15 and my goodness did Bates Art Bar deliver one of the most special nights ever! The staff and ownership are truly a one of a kind group. The cocktails were easily some of the best I’ve ever had, specifically the espresso martini! If you are in town, make SURE to stop by! Thank you Bates Art Bar!

Great place to spend a relaxing time with friends. This was my second visit here and I will definitely return. I had a very tasty Smoked Manhattan (made with brandy instead of rye) and three of us shared a delicious charcuterie board. Well-designed interior, including the art deco bathrooms. Interesting selection of wines and the way wine is stored (and poured) is unique. Bates Art Bar is a great addition to Bayfield!

Loved the classy vibe and also very friendly service. I had an excellent espresso martini and my husband had the smoked manhattan, with a smoke bubble! We shared a butter board which was also excellent. Happy we found this gem!

The self serve wine bar is interesting. Pretty cool and it was fun, the technology is impressive. Very unique. Now about the charcuterie board, we had the cheese one for two and it was excellent. The cheeses were superb and the additional bits and pieces of fruits nuts olives etc were wonderful. Exactly the kind of thing I love to eat while drinking wine. The man who brought out the charcuterie board was sweet, went through all the items on it (there were 6 different wonderful and excellent cheeses). All in all, a unique and welcome addition to the going out scene in this small town. Loved it.

They are just opening so they have limited hours 4 to 8 pm. The people are extremely friendly and the music can be heard in the background but its not so loud you can't hear anyone. We got a Charcutery Board. It was FANTASTIC. 4 different meats, 4 different cheeses, crackers, baggets, olives, nuts, fig relish and some flavored olive oil. God it was Great. I am going again.

It was our second time at Bates and every time we are excited to come back! Atmosphere is relaxing and old fashioned. Very, very fresh ingredients. The bartenders are welcoming, knowledgeable, and make excellent recommendations. We tried the sourdough baguette the first time and it was perfect and fresh! We were shocked it was made in house. We are going to try the charcuterie board next. We recommend Bates to everyone going through Bayfield!
