The food here is homemade and was very good. I had the hot beef sandwich special for lunch. It was delicious. The staff was very friendly and we spent some time in the gift shop next to the restaurant. Will definitely stop by next time we’re in the area

Had lunch there on August 23, 2025. Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and onion rings.
The Burger was very good and cooked to perfection.
The Onion Rings were a different story.
They were OUTSTANDING. Perfectly cooked and crunchy.
They were the best Onion Rings I've ever had.
The Service was great!
My advice.....Get those Onion Rings! ☺️☺️☺️

EXCELLENT hidden little gem!!! Cozy, inviting, down home atmosphere. Food was fabulous on flavor, good portion sizes, waitress was attentive. They do not accept cards - only check or cash, but do have an ATM if needed. Highly recommend a visit to this place if you're in the area - I don't think you will be disappointed.

After looking online and seeing they were open until 3 on a Saturday, we stopped in for a late lunch at 1:40pm. Noticing their sign said closed on the door, my mom walked in to see several people seated, but was not greeted. She came back out and got me. I looked at the hours on the door and they said open until 2:00. (I immediately checked the time to make sure it was before 2.) As we walked in, we were told everything was shut off so we left.
If the sign says you are open until 2:00, you serve food until 2:00!

I know their food is good, we eat breakfast there a lot. But I'm hugely disappointed in our experience this time.
I recommend fixing your hours online and changing your hours if you are not going to serve food until close. I'm not sure we will be back for lunch again in the future.

The roast beef dinner was one of the day's special. The meat was so tender that I didn't need a knife to cut it. The mashed potatoes were made from scratch -- real potatoes not instant. The gravy was seasoned well, and had a nice consistency. The portions were generous. A good value for your money.

We've been coming to this restaurant for the better part of 25 years. Came in tonight for my husband's birthday, the worst possible meal I've ever had out at a restaurant ever. The food tasted old and rancid. The waitress never checked to ask us how our meal was never came back to bring us her check we had to go ask for it and when we told her about our experiences she chuckled. Just save your money. Beyond their prices being out of control the food was just absolutely disgusting.

You know it's a yummy place when the locals are here. When they say plate size pancakes, they mean it. (See photo) Sorry I forgot to take a pic of my plate before I ate. Biscuits were yummy! The food was good and 3 things surprised me, the bacon that came with what I ordered wasn't the thin skinny bacon you get at a vast majority of the restaurant you can go get breakfast at, it was thicker and wider, another surprise was this place doesn't accept credit or check cards in the restaurant itself (they do have an ATM in the restaurant), just cash or checks, if you want to pay with a credit or check card, you have to go to the gift shop next door and I'm not from Wisconsin at all, I live about two hours from where the restaurant is located and they still accept the check that I ended up paying my tab with. I would stop there again if I'm ever in the same area again

First time here and a great find.

Hidden gem of Nelson and the immediate area! Quaint little cafe with fabulous home cooked meals and fresh homemade pies.

Got seated right away for lunch. Service was outstanding. Food was delicious.

Wife had the BBQ chicken sandwich, daughter had the kids grilled cheese and french fries, and I had the fried chicken.

Chicken was battered with a light batter (homemade I believe) and the fries were also coated with something.

Everything was great and we will definitely be back on future drives.

On our way up to the Durand area for a Natural Resources Foundation trip we stopped here for dinner Friday evening it was past what is probably a very busy dinner rush for this great little Cafe so we got a table by a window and got to enjoy a show with our food of many different birds including Orioles and a Hummingbird coming to there feeder outside. Our waitress came over quickly got our water and a Pepsi for me and took our orders. My companion got the plate version of the fried cod and French fries with coleslaw I got the entree version which is 1 or 2 dollars more but you get choice of potato and soup and a warm roll with butter I chose a baked potato and coleslaw and I ordered a piece of cherry pie as I overheard our waitress telling another diner that they were out of the pie they wanted so i asked and got that done before there wasnt any cherry. Our orders came in a very short time and everything was excellent if the fish isn't hand battered than they have a great supplier everything was great including the service and my piece of cherry pie was very tasty. I didn't take any pics but you can look at any already listed for the Cafe and they will show you what we enjoyed. If you are taking a road trip on The Great River Road make a stop at Beth's Twin Bluffs Cafe in Nelson,WI you won't be disappointed.
