my favorite restaurant in madison!!!! beirocks are delicious, huge beer selection, and they are super generous with their sauces. live music every week, and tons of weird events. apple beirock is the best dessert in madison by far. i come here with my husband often and every single time is wonderful. this place does it right

the array of beers and the bartenders make this a welcoming place to post up and unwind at.

Visits subsequent to initial visit net us EXTREMELY snotty attitude from the owner & other male bartenders. There is no call to treat patrons poorly - there are plenty of friendly places for food & drink in Madison so do NOT bother trying Bierock.

I was so surprised to see a German restaurant offering the same food that came out of my great grandmother’s, my grandmother’s, & my mother’s kitchen. This place is a real local gem. Their signature bierocks are delicious and unique but still approachable. Their 3 cheese and smoked paprika popcorn is out of this world!

The atmosphere is fun and playful, as are the servers. We went here on a night with live music. The band was great and there was. No pressure from the staff to turn things over.

We stopped by after a Nightmares game. The selection of 20+ beers along with some cocktails was great, but now onto the surprises 🥳

Ordered a jalapeno popper thinking we would receive the standard bar style of deep fried and breaded. Nope, it's an actual jalapeno with cream cheese and sauce, fabulous!

The bierock's were also amazing. The southwest was perfectly "a taco" but in a delicious soft bread pocket. I've had Runza before and Bierock's is light years better. Even the coleslaw side was waaaay better than expected.

We will most certainly return.

Bierock is a hidden gem in Madison. I recently relocated to the Northside, and was so pleased to find this place! It has great, friendly vibes and offers fun community events. It quickly became my go-to spot to watch Packers games. They also have live music, community fundraisers, and great wall art (if you'rea fan of Bob's Burgers). I really enjoy the food, too. The Bierocks are tasty and creative. They have some truly delicious appetizers (try the spinach puffs!), and one of the best desserts I've had... a peanut butter rice crispie bar with chocolate on top... so simple yet SO delicious!

Most of the Bierocks are great, though I've had a few of the Tuesday specials and they don't live up to the excellent quality of the main menu. The mushroom side dish is sublime, but I'd rather have that than the overly large servings of potato chips that accompany each meal. Perfect spot for dinner, a date, watching the game, and even meetings, The owners are warm and welcoming. They treat their staff with kindness and respect. The chef is incredibly talented. He takes pocket food to a WHOLE other level. Everything there is SO tasty, including dips. Sure, you'll say, "Nah, I'll just have a beer," but then you smell the pretzels or see another customer cut into their warm & crisp bierock and then you're toast - you always end up ordering at least some snacks. The desserts are heaven too - especially the peanut butter rice krispie treat - yum factor 10! Themed Trivia, BINGO, meat raffles, fun neon, board games, cool furniture, pretty plants.... Top 5 best food I have ever eaten. I had the Southwest Bierrock and it was amazing. They make homemade dips and you can 100% tell the difference. Big compliments to the chef. We had a great time at Bierock! It's a "word of mouth" sort of place because you have to drive into the mall to actually see it (nestled between Ace Hardware and a Pickle Ball court at Northport and Sherman Aves). A friend who lives in the neighborhood mentioned it me. It's a comfortable and reasonably quiet place to talk (inside or outside seating available), it has a deep selection of craft beers (many Wisconsin and local titles), and the food was original and delicious!

The menu shows thought. The appetizers have gourmet twists and you can order them like tapas or upgrade your entree's sides (default: a decent portion of kettle chips and a pickle). We shared the slaw, potato wedges, and spinach puffs (spinach dip in phyllo dough pastry squares) and we were not disappointed at all. The entrees consist of "bierocks" (meat pies--meat or vegetarian filling in a folded pastry) and burgers. We opted for lamb, beef, and vegetarian bierocks, and we tasted each others. Wow! They were great! And, they come with a dipping sauce that is paired with your individual selection.

Beyond the food, Bierock's aims at being a social gathering space (it hosts event nights, themed gatherings, and live music on weekends) and it is a community-minded business and supports many local causes. Overall, the vibe is relaxed, positive, and encouraging to families of all varieties. So, if you're looking for something beyond the usual pizza or fish fry (not that there's anything wrong with that), give 'em a try. We're glad we did!

They have a great beer selection and their prices are very reasonable. Bierocks are delicious and you can’t get them anywhere else in Madison as far as I know. Sides are good.

Literally the best soft pretzel I've ever had! The dip with it was not what I was expecting but was also amazing. The dip with the kettle chips app was so delicious, I would have bought a tub to bring home if it was an option 😅 we tried the rosemary lamb bierock with tziki. Filling was flavorful AF and that puff pastry was perfectly baked and amazingly fluffy but also substantial. I thought they were going to be like a pasty, but it was SO much better than any pasty. Prices were also insanely reasonable. Super happy we tried this place and kinda bummed that it's on the opposite side of town from where we live.

They have board games and cards at every table so if you bring your kids they can be entertained too. I did dig the two sizes of beer. A small size to taste a beer and a 16 oz size. I placed my order for curbside pickup via phone. My order was promptly brought to my car at the promised time - but without a credit card receipt. I had to call back & find out the charged amount. I ordered the Nebraska burger for the Madison Burger Week special deal. I upgraded to potato wedges & also ordered a side of Mushroom Stoganoff. The burger was very tasty, juicy & clearly made from fresh beef, which is sourced locally. Burger toppings were sautéed onions & Cheddar cheese - I skipped the kraut. I detected a bit of a sweet taste which must be from the onions. Overall, a very good burger. I will order a burger from Bierock again!! The potato wedges & mushroom stroganoff were also tasty but nothing special. I would also order both again. I'm not sure what all is included in the seasoning on the wedges but it seemed like I detected an almost vinegar-y flavor. This did not detract from their tastiest though. This was my first time ordering from Bierock & I will definitely order again - but next time I'll try to remember to request a receipt as it was neither offered nor provided as it should be.

The local beer list is impressive, but that's the claim to fame. More of a sports bar than an eatery. The classic pasty was bland and tasteless. The spaetzel was excellent.

A cozy, little, craft-beer, bar and restaurant! Great laid back atmosphere, good service, comfort food. Highly recommend the classic Bierock with cheese! Try a couple different Bierocks while you're there! Life hack: they reheat in the oven wonderfully, so get a breakfast Bierock Saturday night for your Sunday morning brunch/hang over cure or for the dinner you don't want to make tomorrow. If you like jam bands, good beer and tasty food, check em out!

We are still thinking about the great Bierock sandwiches! We were a group of seven. Everyone ordered a different flavored bierock and everyone loved their choice! I had the lamb and thought it was delicious combination of flavors. The service and beer selection was also appreciated by the group. Everyone needs to try a Bierock and you will surely want another!

Placed my order via Eatstreet, but I’m definitely going to have to visit in person some time soon.

I got a few things to try, a traditional bierock, tofu and kimchi bierock, a side of stroganoff and potato salad. For someone who is a first generation American, born to a German immigrant mother - I have been SLEEPING on Madison’s Eastern European comfort fare. This food felt so cozy and comforting, and while everything was delicious the traditional bierock and potato salad stole the show. Classical, flavorful, delicious!

Ultimate comfort food born from the nostalgic flavors of my childhood I had all but forgotten about. I didn’t know how much I missed it until I bit into that first traditional bierock. And that potato salad SLAPS. I would more than probably do some questionable things just for that potato salad.

This place rocks!

The beer selection was not only large but filled with very delicious selections. The staff were very attentive and worked extremely hard to make sure we felt comfortable. The food was good but not great. I don’t want to make a blanket judgment though because we just got appetizers. It’s nice to have a place like this in the Sherman/Northport area. I will definitely be back.

Love that they have my favorite shorty! The food was great too. Each item on the menu has a sauce made specifically for that food. Love the detail! All my favorite German restaurants have closed in Madison so if they expand their imports, and continue making the spätzel, I’d be all set.
