We were in Minocqua with friends and it was the last night of our stay. Someone told us about Billy Bobs so we decided to go there for dinner. From the looks of the parking lot we didn't know if we would find a table. The place was really busy but we got a table the waitress gave us our menus and I was surprised at how reasonable the prices were. My wife had a shrimp basket with their homemade chips and I had fish and chips. Both meals were delicious my wife gave me a couple of her chips which were great. The service was also great the waitress was really busy but made sure she checked on us two or three times. This is definitely one place we will go to for dinner again. I do have to warn anyone that goes there for a meal make sure you go with a empty stomach. The portions are very large and worth the prices. Chances are if we would have known about Billy Bobs earlier we would have eaten there more than once.

While we’ve been to Billy Bob’s many times (and loved their food — especially their burgers and FRIES are phenomenal!!) we were particularly blown away by one server’s exceptional service last night … her name is Cat 👏👏👏 Not only was she beyond accommodating, letting us change from an outside table to inside as it was cooling off, but we noted EACH TIME she checked on us — our food, etc. — it was HER thanking US. 😳 I was particularly proud — though not surprised — to find without my knowing prior, she is the daughter of a good friend of mine (Gregg), who owns a different local mainstay, Cockatiel’s Bar, also in Tomahawk.

Be sure to check out both places, especially Harley Weekend, aka “Fall Ride,” and ask for them by name.

We paid in cash. Our bill was a little over $26. We gave our waitress $40 and asked for change. She brought back $3 and some change. We told her we gave her $40. She said we gave her $30. I think because the bill was close to $30 she assumed that what we gave her $30. If I pay cash again I will hand it to them and count the money. I think it was an honest mistake, but we were shorted $10.

Ordered a toco pizza, came out not even warm. I know the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese are put on afterwards but the middle should be at least warm. Also, asked to be seated at a table and she brought it to the bar........Not the first time we had cold food here, happened another time with our prime rib. Just disappointing!

The blonde bartender behind the bar was very rude to my 11 and 8 year old daughters when they were just trying to enjoy playing pull tabs. They went to cash in $13 in winnings and were only given $12. When my 11 year old kindly corrected the bartender she started arguing she only counted $12 and would not give them a dollar. The dollar isn’t the issue but the principal is. That the bartender would not take responsibility for getting mixed up while double tasking and instead decided to argue with two little girls. The fish fry was also quite dry and disappointing.

So we ended up getting a lot of stuff. I got the Fish and Chips which was amazing. I don't generally like fish from a lot of places. And this was really good. We also got the sampler and but mini corn dogs were perfect. Lol, I felt really good seriously, and they even cater to our special needs without batting an eye. Service was great, food was better. Atmosphere was pretty good too. Sorry, we were so hungry. Forgot to take pictures before lol. But here are some of what we could not finish. Everything was so good.

First time in on 2/3/2025. First off, if you are a fan of fried pickles get two orders. They are that good! The mozzarella sticks are very good too. Wrapped in phyllo dough, they are pleasantly different than other styles.
I had fish and chips with beans as a side. My wife had the mandarin chicken salad. The salad was big. The fries we all got were some of the best.
The amount spent was for two people with two adult beverages an app and two entrees.

We stopped in last night for the first time since we are not from the area. The pizza was one of the best we have ever tasted. Jordan was the best server we have had in a long time. The Best!!
It’s been a while since I had a “true” fish fry as Sysco simplicity has taken over many places.
The food here is outstanding, “fresh” cut fries are amazing and if the fish if from Sysco … you wouldn’t know. The cooks know how to handle hot oil. The wait staff….. bust their asses off!

All you can eat shrimp special and plenty to eat with 1 basket. Tasty food, great service. Drinks were on table as soon as our group arrived.

The things missing, otherwise 5 stars, 1. Billy Bob, and 2. Bar pizza as an appetizer choice.

Bonus was the Diet Mountain Dew drink options, which is never an option in some other parts of the US when asked if you want a Coke and what kind of Coke.

Great place, good food and I enjoyed a nice local IPA as well. Busy place and accomodated a large group during a busy time when we called ahead.

They were being a little passive aggresive on us standing drinking and talking, but in fairness we were in the way of the servers trying to get through with food. Still, could have been handled a little better by just directly telling us our tables were ready and we needed to sit down.

Either way, big groups are tough and it would never effect anyone else having the great service that we enjoyed as well after we sat down. Food was quick and she was very attentive on all our drinks.

Very disappointed with the service. They overcharged me one drink and a soda. I let them know and they wanted to give me a chip. why would I want a chip when I'm not from the area. They should have canceled the charge and rebilled me the correct amount. They made me feel like it was my fault. I'm not a happy customer.

First time here. My mom ordered chicken strips and fries. Waitress says "what dipping sauce do you want"? instead of saying" which dipping sauce do you prefer? We have....(and then say each one so she knows what you serve and can decide from the choices) Mom said there was no flavor to them.
I ordered (in picture) the turkey melt. Oh it was smoky alright and the toast was very thick and buttery! My sister ordered a burger (I forget name now) the one with orings and BBQ sauce. She said it was pretty good. All of our favorite though was the homemade fries. I personally don't like homemade fries because they are always limp and greasy. But these homemade fries here at Billy Bob's were the best I've ever had!! They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfectly cooked the way a French fry should be cooked!!! The waitress.....well......not very friendly or informative. Very short with us. No personality. I'm very critical on serving staff since I was a waitress for over 15 years. All in all, would I go back? Yes, I will give it another try if I'm in the area. But I would not go out of my way to get there. It was a 40 minute drive for us 1 way.

Our first time in Tomahawk WI. BB was recommended by a friend and had a good rating on TripAdvisor. I had the combo appetizer platter which included a sampling of all the fried apps except wings. All were very good. My friends had the Italian beef and shrimp basket. Both were very good. The pizza looked great. Mollie our server was so sweet and did great.

Came here on a Thursday night as we were only in Tomahawk that night. The place was busy! Our waitress was great—very friendly and helpful. I had the ribs that were the nightly special and my husband had the brisket sandwich. The ribs were phenomenal. They smoke their meats themselves at the restaurant. The brisket sandwich was very tasty, although my husband would have liked more brisket on it (although he didn’t go away hungry). The atmosphere is very casual and loud with lots of TVs showing sports. It’s fine—nothing special. We’ve been here many times when in Tomahawk. Their BLT is also one of my favorites.
