my husband and i have driven past binggs for so long! we finally decided to try it out for our wedding anniversary date night.
we absolutely ADORED this spot. we were greeted very warmly by the owner, and all the servers were kind and attentive.
we also loved the decor, it’s funky but SO fun!! like what cracker barrel wishes it was.
the food was 5/5 fantastic. we had the famous “goonies” crab dip and almost filled up completely on that. my husband and i both enjoyed our drinks as well (the huck finn and a classic old fashioned). the burger and pasta were fantastic as well! a great mix of fun flavors that were fresh and new.
the ambiance was so warm and inviting, and we loved watching the owner change the records by hand. you just don’t see that anymore! we also personally loved the seating with comfy pillows, and even the different salt and pepper shakers for every table.
the owner served us for the majority of the night and he was so wonderful. you can tell he loves his restaurant and any customer that comes through the doors. my husband had never tried the famous ‘schlitz’ beer, and we had a good laugh about the wonderful presentation given for his first time :)
overall we had such a fun night and we will definitely be back. thank you binggs!
i definitely recommend this spot if you’ve never been ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's rare to find a place like this in rural SE Wisconsin. Plenty of places have a folksy vibe with comfort food (Cracker Barrel) but the for here is anything but normal for all the best reasons. We had the gambit of Filipino, Thai and Indian. Everything was great, fresh and well prepared. Is it inexpensive no, but you're gonna get a great meal for the money. This place deserves your patronage.

I have no recommendation positive or negative about this restaurant. Obviously, I had high hopes for it, having gone to it previously for a colleague's event.
SERVICE. To put this in context, we went on a Wednesday and made reservations through their website. The dining room was not full, and we were eating well before closing time. The server needed more training, and the restaurant should slow service down. The server brought one dish after another too quickly and was not attentive. In short, we were rushed. Worse yet, we were not asked if we wanted another cocktail, a dessert, an aperitif, but actually almost shunted off. I do not think the server meant to be rude, but overall, the vibe was like that of a diner.
FOOD QUALITY. The quality isn't there, and the menu is not cohesive. We ordered all the chef specials, and they were disappointing. The appetizer was supposed to be, I think, an elevated take on a pizza roll, but actually tasted like a microwaved hot-pocket. I ordered the crab cakes that the chef recommended as being back after a long hiatus. The crab cake was undercooked and bland. (Edited in response to owner's response below). My friend had the meatloaf, which he enjoyed. If you do go here, I would order the meat dishes.
PRICE. For me the food isn't worth the money. For the money, I would drive to any number of farm-to-table restaurants, which offer a more cohesive menu and a better experience. The price point with drinks is equivalent to an upscale restaurant in Madison, Milwaukee, or surroundings. And they do not have the quality or level of service (more below).
AMBIENCE. I do not mind some folksy surroundings, but there needs to be more attention to comfort. There's too many nick-knacks, and everything feels crowded. Our table had a large plant that hovered close over my head. The chairs are cheap metal chairs that do not accommodate all bodies. (I would put a little more thought into accessibility; for example flowers pots were placed on the chairs going up to the restaurant and made it difficult to utilize the handrail).
A FINAL NOTE. The reservation explicitly asked for you to volunteer an occassion. I filled it out with the following: "my 60th birthday." The bartender asked if we were the table with the reservation, but no one ever acknowledged my birthday. That I was expecting a dessert or an aperitif (or an acnowledgment) made it worse when the server came around with the check and rushed us out.
(I have made minor edits to the review above, mostly to be more accurate -- taking the owner at his/her/their word, and to soften the recommendation, since I hadn't really intended not to recommend). Interestingly, the rushed service is not addressed, and the tone of the owner's response is for this would-be patron and local surprising).

We absolutely loved our experience at this charming, family-owned restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The servers were incredibly friendly, and the owner had us laughing a few times!
The ambiance is just adorable—rustic vintage decor with cozy pillows on every chair, which is such a thoughtful and homey touch. This has supper club vibes!
The drink menu is robust! We tried the Tootsie Roll cocktail and the Bing’s Old Fashioned—both were flavorful and expertly made. But the real star? The Honey Bear Jalapeños. We haven’t stopped talking about them since. Sweet, spicy, and completely addictive!
For dinner, we had the fish with mashed potatoes, and wow—those potatoes were next-level. Creamy, flavorful, and totally crave-worthy. We’re all still trying to figure out the recipe!
We finished with dessert and enjoyed the turtle cheesecake and apple pie! It was all so perfect.
We can’t wait to come back and bring friends and family along. This place is a true local treasure.

Mixed feelings describe perfectly how my visit here was. From the start I was discouraged by the fact that the gentleman that seated my girlfriend and I waved at us from across the restaurant, and pointed at the table we were to sit at. Granted, it’s not a super large establishment so I could see him, but just felt kind of a rude way to greet a guest. The food was very good, and the portions were really enough for two meals. The waitress was pretty inattentive, and very hard to hear, but that’s understandable for a newer employee. The younger gentleman that gave us the bill and processed the payment was very friendly. The decorations inside are very confusing as well, but I don’t eat at places for their decor. Overall there was very good food, but just as strange of an atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back to see if the next time is the same!

We went on a Friday evening with reservations and the restaurant was not full, but our service was slow. We were not checked down, but our server was very nice. I’m not sure if it’s a staffing issue or what but we would’ve stayed and gotten a few more drinks, but we just didn’t have a server to order from. I ordered the fried shrimp on the fish fry menu and they were very good. My husband got a steak and he said it was under seasoned or under salted. Overall, the restaurant is very cute. We just were disappointed with the service especially with the price of food and drinks here.

Eclectic menu leaning to Asian. Yes, they do Friday fish fry and prime rib on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fun decor and great service. Patio seating available.
Huge wine list and selection of whiskeys. They play vinyl; mostly Beatles, Elvis, and 80s rock.

We wanted to try a new place in town after hearing some positive reviews. Overall, I unfortunately don’t think we will be back. Between my boyfriend and I, our bill was $70. This included one beer, one burger that had a very small amount of fries as an extra charge, my gyro plate, and the world’s smallest mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were $10, there was 4 of them and they were about the size of my pinky. The Elvis burger was ok… but the fact that it didn’t automatically come with fries and was $24 alone… it was not a $24 burger. My gyro was good not great… I can go to any gyro place and get the same thing for half the price. The water cups were oddly very small and our waitress definitely didn’t come by enough to refill. Also, we asked for a bottle of ketchup and got a mini bottle that was the size of the salt shaker. Overall, way over priced and just kind of a weird place? I did not get any alcohol but definitely would not pay $15 for an espresso martini. I see the owner absolutely destroying bad reviews on here so go for it man it’s just my opinion.

The Huck Finn was delicious. I tried the Korean burger on the recommendation of my server, who described how it was cooked as well as the flavor profile. I was pleased with the burger. The coleslaw and cheese curds were less impressive, though. The menu has changed since last posted menus from other reviewers. They didn't have the noodle dish that originally caught my eye and brought me to Binggs, but the burger was a fine substitute. The kimchi was a tasty touch.

Pricing astronomical for tiny portions of frozen food. Paid full price for an entree of shrimp and got 6 tiny shrimp and the smallest portion of fries and coleslaw I've ever seen. I travel to Fort Atkinson regularly for work and was tired of the same bar food offerings in town. I did a Google search for something different and stumbled across this place. So glad I did. A small family run restaurant with an amazingly unique menu that you would not expect from the setting. Don’t let appearances fool you. It has a quaint atmosphere that is very casual. The Napoli Gnocchi special was amazing. I was told it was an old family recipe. I enjoyed talking to the owner and his son. I can’t wait to return as there are several items on the menu I want to try.

Fun country style atmosphere. It wasn’t very busy on a Sunday night, and our server and the owner? was very friendly and attentive as soon as we walked in. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails, a Manhattan and a coconut rum. We devoured the Goonie’s crabmeat dip with Wonton chips. It was so good! I also had the Sweet and Sour Kielbasa soup. There were so many dinner options to choose from. Our entrees, the Johnnie’s Bada Bingg burger and the Chicken Curry, were generous portions and delicious. I took some home to enjoy tomorrow.

Phenomenal restaurant! Been wanting to stop by for a while and finally made it happen on Friday. So hard to choose from the menu, all the dishes were so unique and sounded great. We both went with the Blackened Cod which was a great choice. Coleslaw was spot on and the details down to the tarter sauce were great. The Good and the Bad...
Unfortunately the Bad far outweighed anything good. Saturday 4/27 we made reservations at Binngs for 7pm. Reservations were confirmed and the group was excited to try someplace new. We arrived at 6:55 entered the restaurant and stood near the hostess station, where we stood for nearly 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. Even after the waitresses and whom I presume was the owner looked over at us multiple times. There were 8 of us, so it was hard not to notice our group.
When the owner approached us he asked if he could help us...uh, well, I'm standing in a restaurant with 8 people so likely we're here to eat. I advised we had a reservation for 7pm (it's now 7:05) and he seemed surprised. Referred to a tablet on the hostess station and sure enough, there's our reservation. He walked away and came back in a minute or so, and advised "it's going to be a few minutes until we can seat you". Admittedly, the place was pretty busy and bar already had people sitting and waiting. OK, we'll hang out.
Fast forward to 7:45sh and they cleared a table for us to be seated at. Drinks and appetizers took forever, but we were at a table and making progress....so that seemed good.
We ordered our entrees around 8pm and then it got worse. Three trips back to our table for our waitress to advise that they had "run out" of certain entrees which we'd ordered and side salads (they ran out of salad?) Perhaps if they'd honored our 7pm reservation, we'd have had what we ordered. Our party was left with few choices and most didn't have the chance to get what they originally ordered. We finally received our entrees (or what we'd settled for) around 8:40 pm. Oh well, we had food. To be honest the food was "ok" and all agreed overpriced for what was received.
The Good - our waitress whom tried very hard to accommodate us despite the challenges she was handed. Certainly none of which were her fault. She was gracious, apologetic and tried to remain upbeat throughout this debacle. The general ambiance of the place was rustic and charming.
The Bad - Nearly everything else. Terrible manners by the owner. You accepted a reservation for 8 at 7pm. Then you shouldn't fill the restaurant with parties that didn't have a reservation if it prevents you from honoring said reservation.
Not once did he come to our table to express his apologies for the wait, the lack of entree availability or length of time it took to serve us. Not even a "hey Folks, sorry for the mix-up, I'll buy you a beer, or can I comp a dessert for anyone". I inquired if they had opened recently, thinking this could be the why behind the overall poor experience, but I was told that they'd been open for a couple of years.
Finally, the food. I'm sorry, I chose this place based on positive reviews, but the menu must have been much different. Nothing any of us had was considered "really good". They ran out of grits, salad, and fettuccine Alfredo. (Uncooked grits and pasta don't spoil and really?...salad?)
Again, our server, Emma, was trying really hard to make a bad experience as good as possible, and was an extremely friendly young woman. I give her lots of kudos and tipped her well.
We left disappointed, not only in the experience, but in the fact that we were hopeful we'd found a cool new place in the area for dinner. I'm ok with a place that is first come first serve, but don't offer a reservation then.
I wouldn't recommend Binngs Farmstead unless you're looking for a burger and a beer at the bar....even then I'd think twice.
Update in response to the response below from the proprietor, As the business noted, my comments are factual. Further, to suggest that my comments are not warranted is ridiculous. As I noted, even when the experience started bad, we were still hopeful at different times of the night that things were on the right track. To suggest the only thing that would have made it better would be to receive something free is simply inaccurate, but the offer would have shown that you cared about the failures. Hospitality is lost in your reply

Friday night trying new restaurants we never been to. First impression really good, service, atmosphere, drinks all pretty good. Appetizers really creative fusion food( Mexican queso, Chinese wonton wrap and Thailand chili sauce) great combination. But the entrees was kind of disappointing. Fish fry got thick batter like Great Wall. Burnt outside and raw inside. Not much fish left inside to be honest. You have to crack it open like king crab. The picture attached is actually after we finished the meal. My husband cracked it open and pick the fish out. My curry fettuccini was fine. But obviously the butterfly shrimp were store bought and fettuccini is not too expensive so I assume I am paying the price for sauce . But the sauce is too rich . After couple bite, you are kind of done with the richness and stickiness.

So, the food was good. Not great, not five stars, but pretty much four star food. They get docked a star for minuscule portions. Order a glass of wine? It appears in what looks like a liqueur glass, at most four ounces and likely closer to three. The salad was, I do not exaggerate, three bites of lettuce and spinach leaves with store-bought balsamic dressing and exactly ONE halved cherry tomato. The "dumplings" were three gyoza - at FOUR DOLLARS EACH. The signature noodle dish was appetizer sized, and $25. One might get away with this in New York or Chicago, but in Wisconsin I will not be going back.
Edit in response to the owner's reply:
I suggest you get some accurate measuring devices. I have spent many years in many kitchens, and would bet one of my houses that the pour we got was significantly less than four ounces, and probably less than three. Also that you could not fit eight ounces in that glass without a small explosion! Shall I return and measure for you?
Also, I’m sorry, a menu item that includes a salad does not make it “complimentary,” which has a different meaning from “included.” Words have meanings. Regarding the dressing, my apologies. I misspoke. I should have said that it tasted like store bought dressing. And my main complaint stands - it consisted of three bites of lettuce and precisely one halved cherry (possibly grape…) tomato. Those are facts, which are not subject to either interpretation or debate.
“The dumplings are actually a kind of Korean appetizer called mandu, very similar to but not the same as Japanese gyoza.”
Hmmm. Mandu is a general term for Korean dumplings with savory fillings wrapped in thin wrappers. Wanna know what Gyoza means? It’s from a Chinese dialect (Shandong) giǎoze (Mandarin jiǎozi ), equivalent to giǎo “stuffed dumpling” + ze “little child” (used as a diminutive suffix). So Gyoza means “little stuffed dumpling,” or precisely what Mandu means! You can look it up. And none of that changes the fact that stuffed dumplings are “economy” food in nearly all cultures, and hardly deserving of such a rarefied price.
“Yet the greatest misleading comment in the review states that the "signature noodle dish was appetizer size." That dish, the Drifters Noodles' weighs in at 15 to 16 ounces, that's a pound. An entrée carefully created from fresh ingredients, including marinated chicken, wide rice noodles, Asian sprouts and vegetables, plus a variety of spices and herbs that are difficult to get, but important to our chef. It is our single best-selling entrée.”
I did not comment at all on the ingredients (though if you are finding spices and herbs difficult to get, perhaps I could recommend some sources), nor on how many you sell. My comment was regarding portion size. Again, if you think that is really 15 to 16 ounces, you should weigh it sometime. It was nowhere near a pound, and I did not think, based on many years and much experience, that it was worth the price.
“The last sentence of your review is both disrespectful and demeaning. Not only to our restaurant, but worse it speaks to your obvious low expectations for the great things one will find in Wisconsin, and/or your seeming low opinion of New York and Chicago. I quote you here, "...get away with..." That verbiage is accusatory, implying dishonesty on our part. We are not trying to get away with anything as if we were sneaking about or trying to hide something. Ironically, since your name as listed on the review is clearly a nickname our only way to communicate with you is via this review. Peace, do no harm.”
Goodness! I grew up in Wisconsin, and maintain much love for what makes the state great. Also, it was certainly not my intention to be either disrespectful or demeaning. My intention was simply to convey my opinions regarding my experience. The facts are not at issue, regardless of what you would like them to be, and my opinions are exactly that. Peace to you as well.

The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the cottage pie (roast, potatoes, and veggies covered in mashed potatoes). The restaurant itself is decorated in a rustic farmhouse chic style. I don't know, but it is so darn cute. I never knew we had this gem, and I'm so happy my son invited me for dinner. It is on the pricey side. Our bill was $90 for 2 burgers with fries, the cottage pie, 3 whiskey sours, a slice of pie, and a soda. It's too pricey for us to visit often, but we'll be back a couple of times a year.

My husband and I came here for my birthday a few days ago. We loved it. The food was amazing and flavorful. We had the Crab Rangoon Dip, unique and delicious. I had the special Thai Curry Peanut dish and hubby had a Patty Melt and both were very good. The service was great and attentive and the decor was very thought out and adorable. Even down to the unique salt and pepper shakers. This is a must try in the area!

Friendly workers, giving off a caring family owned restaurant. Atmosphere shows they put a lot of work into organization and appeal. Food very good, flavors really pop in multiple dishes tried. I would highly recommend anyone coming here. Drinks are really good too. At time of visit 08/12/23, some construction on back road from White Water, but still able to go through with no issues. The menu also has a variety of cultural foods as spin, but maintaining perfect classics for a great price!

This place was top notch in every way. The atmosphere was super unique and the food was superb. I do not know the name of the man who took care of use, but he was friendly, personable and made us great drinks. The bloody mary was one of the best I’ve had and the chaser was a cute little bottle of Rhinelander beer that was delicious. We tried pierogi for an appetizer and had a chicken ranch wrap and a burger that I don’t remember the name of. We could really tell that there was a lot of love put into the recipes and preparation of the food because everything was really good. I highly recommend and will be back soon with some more friends!

This was a Sunday brunch, did not know that going in, but still would've went. Gotta be honest it was a bit pricey at $30 per person. There was apple and orange juice, but coffee not included.
However the venue is very warming and even quaint, somewhat like a village pub and the vittles are top flight cuisine. The homemade biscuits would win 1st place at the state fair and the egg scramble was devine in flavor and consistency.
There were 10-12 main entree items to choose from and a nicely filled out dessert sideboard with delicious bite sized offerings. My advice would be to lower cost to $25 and offer coffee along with the meal. Just sayin, it could make a difference. It will for us in that we won't return for the Sunday brunch because of that $5 per person. Something to think about. Maybe a discount for groups of 6 or more? That's all I'm going to say about that.

My wife and I were returning home from her grandson's football game and, since the weather was nice and it was near lunch, we decided to locate a place to dine outside. Simply Googling "outdoor dining near me" popped up Binggs Restaurant. It turned out to be one of the best spur-of-the-moment searches we've ever done.
From the roadside, the restaurant appears understated, but don't let that deceive you. Binggs presents several pleasing surprises.
The food is awesome! The owners have wisely decided to present a limited menu, unlike other restaurants that have scores of items on their menus. Binggs' obviously focuses on originality; intrigue; variety of flavors, textures, and colors; dishes that are diverse without being pretentious or strange; and beautiful presentation that is usually found only in haute cuisine venues.
The venue itself has both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor, the deck seating has tables for couples and families, all pleasant and comfortably spaced. Indoor, the decor is immediately engaging and the dining area is immaculate, well lit, with numerous tables seating four, and a full service bar with an ample variety of beers, wines, and liquors. Restrooms are also immaculate.
Binggs has become our new favorite place to dine, and we are confident it will become one of your favorites, too.

We found this our new favorite restaurant after another place fell through. It's a charming outfit a little off the beaten path, which we think is a feature, not a bug. It couldn't be easier to find–if you're coming from Janesville or Milton, when driving East on Hwy N, turn left just past Kari's Quilt Shop on N. McMillian Rd. and take that all the way up to the intersection with Hwy 12.
We didn't see a sign out front but we had just read about the outside dining on the deck, and the deck was clearly visible on the left side of the building.
The dining room itself is homey and bright, and the menu contains interesting variety. I saw they make some sandwich wraps and knew Linda would like those. She decided on the grilled Chicken Ranch specialty wrap, and it was amazing. I had the Patty Melt burger, a half pound beef patty with Swiss cheese and caramelized onions and sauerkraut, and it was hearty and full of interesting flavors. The tater tots in particular were light and crusty and had a great flavor and consistency.
We had a long, lively chat with the proprietor, who was warm and interesting. We learned they'd bought the place a month before the pandemic hit, and we were relieved they'd managed to hold on through the lean times. The owners live on the grounds and have clearly invested their all into this restaurant. We like supporting local businesses and this is a family affair.
With an interesting menu which goes a little off the beaten path, delicious food, and a fun, rustic ambiance, Binggs Restaurant is a new favorite. Milton folks, this place is just 17 minutes from town, an easy drive in the country to a charming local place.
