All said and done the food was just ok. Limited seating in the bar to eat. Wrong food item made, had to wait even longer, waitress blamed the skytab system and the cook. I was the first to order, last served in our group and I got the special, had to watch my family eat while I waited. Being a bar, I was turned off that there was a child about 5 yo hanging out at the bar rail, alone, while mother played the gaming, still there when we left. 🫣

Very good food. Service is reasonably quick. Both times we were there a 2man band was playing, while they were too loud, the must choices were great, and they had most of the bar singing along! definetely a good time, and great place to be on a saturday night!! Will be back!

If you're looking for a quiet place on a Sunday to eat, this is your place! We came around 11:30 and got a seat right away. The waitress was friendly and took care of us quickly. I ordered "The One That Got Away" burger with gyro meat on top and tzatziki sauce. It was really good! Their Onion rings are big and crispy and also really good!. My mother-in-law got a BLT and said it was good and their fries were really good. I highly recommend!

Great food. Great service. Tiny bar in the northwoods with dedicated staff. They’re small with a tiny kitchen so food may take a while, but it’s worth the wait. Billy has been running this place for 16+ years and is an amazing owner. It’s definitely a bar and grill, not a full service restaurant, so food will take a while during busy times. Sunday jam brings out many, many customers and with the patio being full, along with the inside tables and being standing room only at some points, the kitchen will struggle to keep up. So don’t come here expecting fast food. It’s not McDonald’s. 10/10 would recommend. Great northwoods experience.

I don't know if you know this or not, but this place isn't a restaurant. At least that's what the bar manager told me when they informed me that they lost my food order ticket after waiting close to an hour for a pizza. So maybe they're good for $4 millers but I wouldn't trust their toaster oven again

I wish I could say we tried the pizza but our order never came. We waited over an hour and were finally told our ticket was lost and would take another 45 minutes to still make our pizza. Being extremely hungry at this point, we ended up closing out and this left us with very few food options on a Sunday night. We were told by staff that Birchwood Bar and Lodge "is not actually a restaurant we are a bar" and that was pretty much the excuse we got. It would have been nice to at least have received a drink on the house for the major inconvenience but we weren't compensated in any way. If you are hungry "this place is not a restaurant" so don't bring an appetite. So disappointing!

Nice staff good food a+ i though the menu was so different and the burgers sounded great and the pozzas sou ded great and the fish fry sounded great. Everything sounded great lol. The bartender was awesome and she was working alone and kicking butt. And stayed friendly the entire time. I ended up getting the fish and a pizza and boy was I happy with my choice. I will come again to this awesome bat in the backwoods of rhinelander. Trust me this place is good. The fish was decent but the pizza was the real star of the show I ate most of it and only brought some home to have something g to look forward to the next day. I brought my friend out here and she loved it as much as I do. Next time I go I'm getting a burger cuz those looked sooooooo so so so good. Thanks Birchwood for keeping the northwoods at your place. We love you and will continue to come there because you are waaaay way above any competitor in the area.. a freaking plus!!

My husband and I wanted to try a new place and I'm glad we went here.

Food was really good for bar food. We both got burgers and the $12 appetizer that has a little of everything. The onion rigs are fantastic, fries are average, chicken strips great, cheese curds are good. The bacon on my burger was cooked perfectly and had the perfect amount of BBQ sauce. My husband always wants extra stuff on his burger and they added it with no problem.

Service was a little slow but not bad.(we did order a lot of food). Our waitress checked back frequently and refilled our drinks. She was really friendly.

We got lots of food and it was a great price. (Definitely got more than we could eat.) They even had some games and a cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be back

Grew up spending summer vacations down the road from Birchwood. Have lived in NC for many yrs, so don't get back much. Just rented a cabin at Birchwood for a group snowmobile trip and could not be happier. Food and drinks are excellent and prices good. Our cabin was clean and everything we needed. Stopped by for some of their amazing wings and onion rings. We ordered dinner before we even ordered drinks. The bar owner was “cooking” when we walked in with 9 other people in the bar. Four of which were at a table finishing their dinner and three of which left before we put our order in. The boyfriend and I were the only ones left in the bar that ordered food by the time we put our order in. The other two individuals were just drinking. We waited 5 minutes for our food and ordered another drink and a shot each when a group of 5 young men walked in. The bar owner then came out from the kitchen and was assisting them for about 10 mins and then proceeded to flirt with them and demand “hugs” before they left. She then went outside and came back in after another 10 minutes and said “oh, there’s a ticket here”. At which my boyfriend told the bartender “if that’s for our onion rings and wings, cancel our order”. The bar owner then offered to pay for our food but after waiting 30+ mins for our order to be acknowledged, let alone started, we declined. The bartender apologized profusely, as she made multiple comments about our order sitting there. The bar owner then called offered to pay for our drinks. We left to eat elsewhere. As someone who has worked in the bar industry for over a decade, I believe it’s unacceptable…especially from someone who “owns” the establishment

Went there last night as the Birchwood has been one of our faviorite spots the last few years. Unfortunately it seems to have slipped quite a bit from last year. The place was not busy two other tables beside us. Placed our food order and then waited over 45 minutes (closer to an hour) to get a Birchwod burger and Nachos. Food was OK but not as good as past years. However it was not worth waiting an hour to get. Somethings wrong in the kitchen that on a slow night takes that kind of time to prepare two simple items.

Had a great time at the Birchwood Bar! A group of us were in the area for a week of fishing (came in from Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan) and ate dinner at the bar every night for a week. On a very busy Friday night, Bob & I both had shrimp. It was some of the best! Service was good. On a Tuesday I had a mushroom Swiss burger made with bison meat. Turns out I DO NOT like bison. Burger would have been great made with traditional hamburger. Service was very good.

Me and my family decided to show up after our lodges bar was still closed. The inside was very up-north like which was awesome, however that wasn’t the best thing! Horrible service! We ordered an appetizer (chicken quesadilla) which we wanted prior to our sandwiches. The picnic table behind us arrived after we did, placed their order and were served before the waitress came out to inform us the chicken had not even been cooked yet. Why we weren't informed of this upfront is beyond me. After we were served our food (mediocre sandwiches) I had to go back inside to the bar area and ask for the bill as she never returned to our picnic table outside. We will NEVER go back!
