Saw this cool place on Google Maps. 3 of us ladies on a Door County Trip ate here on our first night here. It has a lot of history that should be enjoyed. Reasonable prices. I had the chicken dinner and it was great. Baked chicken, homemade potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, cranberry dressing, a roll and a homemade fudge and Carmel brownie for $13! I had an Old Fashioned and it was good. It is not fancy but the atmosphere and food was great. We loved it.

Birmingham’s, Door County — Where Grit Meets Supper Club Charm

Step into Birmingham’s and you’ll swear you just wandered into the set of a Wisconsin noir — half supper club, half small-town battlefield. Our waitress, a glorious battle axe of a woman (or maybe a wounded fighter back from the front), limped from table to table with the precision of a seasoned general. No nonsense, no frills — just the business of food and drink, delivered with a side of steely resolve. Frankly, we loved her.

The bar was jammed, as if the entire county got the memo that Friday cocktails taste better shoulder-to-shoulder. The tables? Sparse. A scattering of diners here and there, all eyeing the table with the coveted view (not ours, of course — next time we’ll arm wrestle for it).

The vibe is pure classic: dark wood, old-school charm, and the faint feeling that everyone knows everyone’s business — and doesn’t mind a bit. They run a rotating menu that changes daily, which keeps things interesting and keeps you guessing (Wednesday’s perch? Thursday’s ribs? Roll the dice). Our food was solid — kitchen on point — but rumor around the bar says the burger is the crown jewel. We’ll be back to test that legend ourselves.

All told? Birmingham’s is a little rough around the edges and all the better for it. Come for the supper club nostalgia, stay for the waitress who could probably teach you a thing or two about life.

The food was great. I had the roasted chicken. Amazing. Others had the pork chops and also so good. Last couple both had hamburgers and said they were the best hamburgers they ever had. Jodi our server was so sweet and helpful. She really made the meal so much fun. Want a great meal and a great time stop in to Birmingham's.

All of the staff were polite and very helpful. The waitress was attentive. The food was bland and lacked flavor, but to be fair, it was cheap. Served on paper plates. Cash only! All the locals were at the bar, so perhaps the drinks are where it's at.

I love how they cook the ribeye! I had it with fried onions and the steak was cooked the way I love, and I will eat 4 times on the 16 oz ribeye! My husband says it's the best he ever ate! Birmingham is worth every penny!

1st picture is breaded lobster bites,
Then my dinner salad with crumble blue cheese and blue cheese dressing,
Then my 16oz ribeye steak rare,
Was very very tender and juicy, perfectly done. 🥰🥰
But unfortunately they didn't season it and was very bland, no taste.😭😭😓😪😭

The burgers are great. Curds are really good and I’ve had a lot. I really liked their fries - fresh out of the fryer. Their Wisconsin Old Fashioneds are good, but not the heavy fruit muddling version if that’s what you’re looking for. Might be an option I didn’t know to ask about. I’m definitely going back here for more. Don’t tell anyone. Keep it a secret. ;-)

It’s old school untouched by the modernization like the rest of DC. It still maintains its 1950ish charm and early 1920s icebox. Food was on point and the drinks were stiff and not outrageously priced. Definitely our go to place from now one. Bartender who is also the owner takes pride in the place and is very friendly. Would highly recommend this place!

Paul has kept Birmingham going and honoring the generations of his family that came before him. Oscar introduced us to this Bar and Grill. We're forever grateful. My wife had the stake and I had the fish. It was so good I couldn't stop until my plate was clean. Including bake potato and salad. Yummy; can't wait to come back.

We stopped on a Saturday night for a drink to celebrate my husband's birthday. It seemed to be a place for locals/regulars, but they were all very nice and welcoming. Brad was attentive and outgoing, and the prices couldn't be beat! We ended up ordering a burger to go, and even reheated it was juicy and perfectly seasoned. When we are back in the area we will be sure to stop again!

We had the burgers that they are famous for, hand patted and served on homemade bread. The burger was more like a meatball, pretty thick but cooked well. Unfortunately the bread disintegrated before we could eat it. I won't do them again. The homemade fries were great. Service was good. Atmosphere was so-so, just an average bar and grill.

Be aware if you're ordering a burger, they come on bread, not a fancy bun. And they are messy, but good. The grilled ham and cheese is awesome!!

If you enjoy an old fashion for your drink, this is one of the rare places that actually make it correctly. For that matter, any drink you order will be probably the best you've ever had.

Ok so far but the instant coffee is uncalled for.
Now for the rest of the story. Out of 5 of us 2 meals were fine. Two filets were stringy and one Rib Eye and Frog Legs were tough and watery. Bill was $175 before the tip. The restaurant was recommended. Carolyn and I both had 3 cups of instant coffee after asking for the real thing each time. Not a place I'd ever go back to. We were here for dinner the evening of June 24, 2023. We ate out every evening and had a good time. Food was great everywhere else. We were in Door County 8 days. Our dog enjoyed the leftovers. The two waitresses didn't seem to care.

I love this place! The food and drinks are great and the servers are friendly and helpful. Stick around at the bar for a drink after dinner - and meet Brad (he was super friendly and helpful and introduced as around to other people at the bar). This place is a hidden treasure!!! Great food at incredible prices. A bar that anyone can feel comfortable at. And Brad (the owner) with his bartenders, that can actually create drinks, not just "a shot and a beer"... either start or complete your experience. I am just sorry they didn't have any long-sleeved T-shirts in XL left, but we will be back in the fall to enhance my wardrobe and to have the tenderloin with shrimp. Looks yummy. Enjoy your low key but pleasant dining experience!

The bar and restaurant is by far my favorite spot in the area for amazing full four course meals, drinks, and great conversation. Brad carries on his parents and grandparents legacy and can be seen behind the bar on busy nights.

He's extremely nice and has a wealth of knowledge on the history of the area, it's various industries, and especially the shipyard and maritime history of Sturgeon Bay.
