I don’t recommend. My bbq pork looked like chicken, tasted bad had a disgusting smell- served on a hard bun, appeared to be dehydrated and then the sauce options were cheap and disappointing. My fiancé had a wrap and it was cold, bland and nothing spectacular. We had our hopes up as it appears to be a great place to eat.
I asked the waitress for a copy of our receipt and she brought it back and made a snarky remark about bringing me the receipt… tip reflected.

Excellent service from Faith, a very understanding and accommodating waitress for two Portlandia Madisonian on their way to kayak the Wolf River. Kudos, two for the owners, who brought us out a bowl of shredded pork when I noted that my brisket was a bit overly fatty. The brisket was delicious as well as the perch my husband got and the sides. Also really enjoyed the homemade sauces, especially the Appalachian Sour and the old-fashioned peach. Don’t hesitate to stop on your way up north.

Our dining experience was exceptional. The smoked ribs and baked beans were outstanding, and the smoked mac and cheese was a delight. The ambiance was enhanced by the well-appointed interior design. Unfortunately, we were unable to sample the deviled eggs as they were unavailable. However, based on the superior quality of the other dishes, I surmise that the deviled eggs would have been equally impressive. We look forward to our next visit.

Owners and waitress were very friendly. Small menu, but very tasty food. Bar, tables and bathrooms were clean. Food was served up quickly and waitress checked up on us, making sure no one was without a beverage. I had the Smoked Tenderloin, with portobello mushrooms, which had a Great flavor, not to smokey, nice portion, smoked Mac n cheese, and fries. Had order of cheese curd too.

Had the opportunity to grab lunch out in Rosholt at BJ's. I had the Brisket Sandwich which was delicious...perfectly tender and amazing flavor! My kids each got cheeseburgers which were cooked to medium spot on! My son LOVED the smoked mac n cheese! Absolutely worth the 20 minutes to Rosholt! I will be back.

The owners are amazing! Took time to talk to us and explained how they made all of the sauce options. WOW the sauces are amazing! We had the smoked deviled eggs Yummm. Oh man you guys, this place never let's me down. I tried the Mac & cheese w/ tenderloin. Chef's kiss. The Mac itself was amazing, creamy delicious cheese sauce. But the topper of smoked tenderloin just set it off the charts.

Owners are amazing. We bring our kids in and she goes above and beyond to interact with them and let's us know they are welcome.

We stopped here for a Wi fish fry on our way thru town. They only have Cajun fish. No options for non-spicey. One person in our party ordered the $8 smoked Mac and cheese with add on $5 tenderloin. The tenderloin was amazing. The smoked Mac and cheese was a bit dry tasting. I ordered a medium rare burger. My burger came out well done , not rare. The wait staff was amazing and checked on our table often . The location is clean. It was a little annoying to have a smoker just outside the front door with every exhale drifting back into the bar eating area. That's not the fault of the bar, but shows disregard by "regular" patrons.

My wife and I live about 40 minutes from here but made the trip and it was definitely worth it. We had the smoked deviled eggs to start and they were the best deviled eggs I'd ever eaten. I had their brisket sandwich and put on some of their homemade BBQ sauce. The beer was cold also, and their apple pie shot was amazing. We will definitely be back and with friends and family too!

This place is great! If you want some excellent barbeque (I'm not talking about those nasty hamburger and tomato sauce slop sandwiches on white bread either) you've come to the right place. I smoke meats at home and take my cooking really serious. I'm usually disappointed at bbq places, but my wife recommended coming here for my birthday. VERY IMPRESSED! I'm not sure what I can recommend cause everything we had was top notch. Nothing is too smokey, they just kiss the food with smoke. Very tender meats. The sliders are good, so are the chicken wings. Definitely gotta try the ribs, they are dry rubbed to perfection. He makes all homemade from scratch sauces. Good stuff drinks and some craft beer on tap. Handicap ramp and nice dining room for those folks that don't wanna be at the bar. Over good prices too!

We tried a variety of food during our visit and will definitely go back. Things we liked: smoked mac n cheese (add Cajun shrimp!), baked beans, meat (pulled pork, smoked tenderloin). I'm looking forward to trying the ribs and potato salad next time. The owners and staff were friendly too.

As a BBQ loving Missouri girl, the things I would improve on would be adding more non-sandwich dinner platters with a variety of meats (pork, brisket, chicken, etc) and sides, and some additional/different sauces. (A "sweet and Smoky" option would be awesome!) But overall, we were pleased to find such a good place in such a small town!

We went to BJ's Brick Pit House and arrived around 8:20pm on a Saturday evening for dinner. We were meeting a friend who was about 10 minutes from getting there. I was informed multiple times that the kitchen closes at 9pm, and I assured them that our whole party would be there by then and we would order well before 9pm. Suddenly at 8:31pm one of the kitchen help came and told me that the kitchen was closing early due to karaoke. I advised her that our third person would be there any second, to which they told us we had to order immediately or we wouldn't be served food. I didn't want to order food and then our third person not be able to eat so we didn't order. About two minutes later our third person arrived and I asked again and they said the kitchen was closed so we couldn't order anything. We walked down the Flume Creek for dinner and they were much more accommodating.

The brick pit for years was a special treat I would take friends to an out of the way dive with awesome bbq. A real treat:). Covid came and went and I peeked my head in after moving away and helping a friend work on her first house she bought. I had heard the place had been for sale for a bit and was hoping that low and slow brisket and fall off the bone ribs would still be there. We were not disappointed. Bbq gods intervened and the perfect couple are the new proprietors. In ever way they exceeded what was a wonderful food experience. The husband is a maestro in the kitchen and stepped it up a notch while his better half up front went out of her way to make us feel welcome. There's few reasons to visit a small town like Rosholt these days; BJ's brick house is the reason you'll enjoy doing it. Treat yourself to food that treats you.

This place is great! The creole shrimp are perfectly seasoned and grilled to delicious. Chicken wings are the best ever. Manhattan clam chowder was so tasty. Cole slaw, beans, fish fry all home made and so yummy. Nice selection of tap beers. Owners were friendly. Service was excellent. I will be back to try the ribs. Rosholt is a few miles from Steven's Point but well worth the drive.

I read the reviews online and decided to give the Pit House a try.... I can honestly say this was everything people said it was!! I got excited when I heard classic blues playing on the jukebox! I had the Texas Philly sandwich with smoked beef brisket and coleslaw, and my friend chose the smoked pulled pork sandwich with potato salad. Both entrees and both sides were 10/10!! They offered a Carolina sweet vinegar sauce, a regular BBQ sauce, and a Slow Burn BBQ sauce with a little smoky heat to finish. They also offer some great Friday specials. Can't wait to return for another amazing meal!

I wouldn't normally dole out 5 star reviews, but in comparison to other Central Wisconsin bar restaurants this place deserves it.
I ordered the Cajun walleye and shrimp combo and sampled some ribs. Everything was done perfectly, the baked beans as a side were fantastic. I tore apart the shrimp tails to get out every little bit of succulent meat and the ribs were the picture of perfection. My friend's salad was a much higher quality than you'd get elsewhere. The prices and portions were right on par as well.
Another appealing thing about this place was the cleanliness. It is typical to most places you'd grab a drink and a fry on a Friday night, but not because it is extremely well maintained. A bonus is the small outdoor deck overlooking Rosholt's Main Street.
The bottom line is I will definitely be telling my friends and coming back with my family to sample more barbecue and have another fish fry.
If I had to suggest an improvement to the Brick Pit House I'd say a greater selection of local beers.
Just a heads up, the owner did mention they shut down for a couple months in winter starting around Christmas time.
Enough said. Do yourself a favor and give this place a whirl. If you don't live in Rosholt it is worth the drive.
