We went to Black Sheep for the first time last night with a reservation. We were met at the entrance by the host, and sat in a window seat; which was great…except there happened to be some bees that must have also heard about the great sangria

GM personally came over to move us from our table, made sure we were ok, and checked in on us multiple times throughout the evening, even though it was nothing that was their fault. They even offered some complimentary items to make sure our experience was above expectations. And it was! Really can tell they care about their customers and experience

Truffle fries and the pancake battered cheese curds were phenomenal appetizer, the cocktails came out quick and flavorful, and the service was a great. Atmosphere and ambience somehow even better

We decided in the car on the way home that we would be Black Sheep regulars, and will be back soon.

Honesty, five stars isn't enough. Black Sheep is such a hidden gem, their food is always delicious (the brunch chilaquiles!), and their staff is incredible! I may be a little biased but this is where my husband and I had our first date. This restaurant will always be a happy memory! Had great food, and it was a great atmosphere for a first date. I had an amazing time today at black sheep. The ambiance was incredible, loved spotting something new and interesting in every corner of the restaurant. The service was also amazing. I sat at the bar and the bartender Mahysam was so attentive to everyone at the bar with her. Always had a big smile on her face. Another guest even complimented her to me saying she was such a good listener and created the perfect drink for her. It was also a wonderful menu selection and I had such a hard time choosing what to eat and drink but Mahysam had me covered with awesome recommendations. Located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. It's pretty chill and inviting. The service was great. I was there on date and the waitress checked up on us pretty often and came up with good recommendations. We had plannef to come earlier but the restaurant had flooding. They notified us promptly.
My date had a bagel sandwich and I had a burger. Both were pretty good. We also had dessert. I also had a coffee infused drink, which was pretty good. I would definitely recommend it and would love to come back if I am ever in the area.

We were visiting from Chicago last weekend and stumbled upon this place for brunch, it was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip! The food, the service, the prices, ambiance, the music!! Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding- so outstanding that when I left there and forgot my Prada sunglasses (too many mimosas) they went the extra mile to mail them back to me in Chicago! I’ve been here twice now. Both times the food has been great (including dessert) & both times the service has been mediocre.
The first time the host asked me to move seats with an attitude, the second time the bartender forgot my dessert and asked twice if I wanted dessert after I had already ordered it. Both times I waited too long for food, the restaurant wasn’t busy since both visits were during the week.

We had an amazing dinner! The chimi steak and pork risotto were delicious! Gio was able to sit us incredibly fast after a mix up on my part with our reservation. Went for dinner on a Wednesday and had an OK experience. Ordered the pork shoulder risotto that was served over cheesy white rice, poutine that didn’t have any sausage gravy, and the flank steak was sliced pretty thickly and with the grain rather than against. We were also told the drinks were happy hour when we sat down (ordered wine and beer), but were charged full price. We didn’t feel comfortable mentioning these things to staff due to how busy it was and lack of engagement from staff, but that could be projection of course. Spent a lot of money to learn this place wasn’t our cup of tea.

We will definitely be back. Ok, came back today. This time, not so good. I understand it was busy, but it took a while to get service. Once we did, we waited and waited. And waited. We asked about our food, the bartender apologized, but still nothing. Finally the food came out, and we had no tableware. Finally got silverware, and the food wasn't that great. The biscuits were hard as a rock, and the eggs were really salty. The worst part was at the people next to us sat down, or served immediately, and got their food before we did. No, we won't be back.

Went in today for a group brunch - my friends were drinking mimosas already & I'm sober. I took a look at the menu and the drinks said something along the lines of "*Can be made non-alcoholic". There was an asterisk next to the statement, but none by the drinks, so I assumed it meant everything. When I asked for a non-alcoholic mimosa, the waiter said "well that's orange juice!" in a really sarcastic tone and I told him "they make na versions of this" (and pointed to the champagne). He tried backpedaling when I said I'd just take water & offered me some drink he makes all the time at work, which was just soda with juice in it.

I'd update the menu to remove that statement or add asterisks next to the drinks that can actually be made na. I looked over the menu many times to make sure I wasn't misreading it. You don't know why people are sober & they shouldn't be embarrassed for it. We don't just want soda, sometimes we want to fit in too with fancy drinks.

Had the best experience here last Saturday! We came before a comedy show at the laughing tap and had the best server (I can’t remember her name but she was tall and brunette and we bonded over our love for leopard & being a Scorpio)! She asked who was celebrating a birthday and who was GF right off the bat, after I had noted that in our reservation. Food was so good we had the Brussels sprouts, an adobo chicken dish, pork shoulder risotto, it was also happy hour.. on a SATURDAY! so we had a cheese board, $5 martinis & manhattans. Where else can you get a happy hour on a Saturday?! In Milwaukee?! INTHIS ECONOMY?! Amazing! And our server even pointed that out! Rare to eat out these days and someone actually mentions their happy hour! We were also celebrating 2 birthdays, out of the 3 of us, so at the end of dinner our server brought over 2 cupcakes.. how sweet!! Seriously best Milwaukee dining out experience I’ve had, (coming from a long time server!)

We stopped in Sunday afternoon when their Kitchen was turning over between lunch and dinner, so they had a limited menu of starters and chef boards and bar seating only but WOW did we love it! Decided to stop in for Sunday brunch. We were greeted right away by a host who was very warm & kind. Our server, Patrick, was also kind and attentive. We ordered the chicken & waffles and the poached pear toast. The waffle left something to be desired but the chicken was PHENOMENAL. Poached pear toast was also delicious. I would have switched the bowl of fruit for something else however (too much fruit given it was pear toast). Overall would come again!

The vibe here is laid-back and perfect for a daytime hangout. I tried the Mushroom Melt sandwich, which felt surprisingly healthy, especially when paired with their fries which I loved.

I first visited this place shortly after it opened, and although I had to move out of the area, I recently returned for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. This spot truly exceeded my expectations!

Given that there isn't much to do in Milwaukee on a Tuesday for lunch, I can confidently say this is the place to be. I have fond memories of coming here for drinks in the past, but experiencing their brunch was a whole new level.

We tried the wedge salad, and it was absolutely loaded with bacon bits, perfectly balanced with a creamy ranch dressing. It was delicious and satisfying! The special sangria they offered for brunch was also fantastic, adding just the right touch to our meal.

The atmosphere is chic and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing our experience even more. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Had my graduation brunch here in the private basement downstairs - was absolutely amazing!

Upon arrival, everything was placed so nicely with appetizers ready for everyone. The drinks were very well made, meals were accurate and served to the correct people, and the attentiveness of our server (McKenna) was great. Despite it being a basement it was very well decorated and lit (with natural sunlight too) and the space, comfy chairs, and private bathroom was a plus. Black Sheep has always been one of my favorite places in MKE and I was so glad to end my era there on such a great note!

A special shout out to Patrick for being so responsive and helping me through the planning process of this brunch! Will always recommend black sheep to anyone visiting MKE for any meal 😋

Black Sheep is a gem that's totally worth checking out. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with amazing service from Emily and Lexi, our bartenders. They were super knowledgeable and made our dining experience a breeze. Emily and Lexi's recommendations were spot on, and their friendly personalities made us feel right at home.

We dug into the creamy risotto, which was a total flavor bomb. Paired with their house-made sangria, it was a perfect match. And let's not forget the truffle fries – they were crispy, savory, and the perfect finishing touch.

Having been here a few times, we can definitely recommend the pancake-battered cheese curds. They're a must-try, trust us.

Emily and Lexi are the real MVPs of Black Sheep. Their exceptional service and positive attitudes made our dining experience top notch. If you're looking for a great place to eat with even better service, Black Sheep is the spot.

A great place for brunch, especially because they take reservations which is rare for brunch spots in Milwaukee. Don't fear if you don't make a reservation, there were spots open at the bar last time we stopped in. The bloody mary was delicious, and they even split it into two glasses so my husband and I could share. The menu is well-rounded. My husband loved the chicken and waffles. I loved the risotto, where I swapped out the bacon for avocado. I would be interested to go back for dinner and some wine!

Black sheep was very good overall. I had the New Yorker. It was delicious however it was a little soggy so I think if it was served on a bed of lettuce or something that would definitely help. My sister had the chicken and waffles and said they were really good. My other sister got the eggs Benedict and said it was delicious. It was a little noisy once they started getting busier but I think the higher ceilings had something to do with that. Oliver was our server and did a great job of being attentive with us. We ordered the mimosas and they were tart but still drank them.

We loved our evening at Black Sheep, great vibe, relaxed feel and the service we experienced from Corrie Lynn was top notch. We shared the Happy Hour Cheese board, Poutine (recommend adding the Beer cheese sauce!!) And finished with Flourless Chocolate cake along with Espresso Marinti. Wish we were local, as I believe this would become our local bar...get yourself there, you won't be disappointed!!

This was our first time visiting, and we know that we'll be back. The food was phenomenal, especially that hangover burger, it was definitely one of the best burgers I've had. The biscuits are moist and the gravy is packed with flavor. We really enjoyed our brunch here. Highly recommended.

Stopped here last weekend since it was a little off the beaten path and dog friendly with outdoor seating. My husband and I had brunch and enjoyed the food. We are from Chicago and honestly came to Milwaukee for the day to eat some cheese curds. Black Sheep’s cheese curds, at least during brunch are battered with pancake batter and served with maple syrup. Very intriguing, and VERY YUMMY! Our waiter also sold us on the risotto and breakfast sandwich. The risotto was unique and delicious! And of course, you can’t miss a trip to the bathroom 😅 for its special decor!

The food was just ok. I got the breakfast poutine. I didn't realize the eggs were over easy, so I had to send it back for scrambled eggs. It was also a bit dry so I asked for extra gravy which they charged me for. They also charged me for to go materials which was annoying. The service was good though.

We just drank some old fashion and that was pretty good. The bartender was not very attentive. He served the drinks in a somewhat rough way and with little kindness. The space is a little small between the tables and the bar.

Went back for brunch on 4/21/2024. Amazing. Best non alcoholic Bloody Mary ever. The brunch risotto was ridiculously wonderful and the avocado toast, beautiful and delicious. 10/10 recommend. The bar staff was less friendly this visit than last.

Went for Brunch and enjoyed the Pancake Battered Cheese Curds, delicious and great for 3-4 people. The Chilaquiles was a perfect size. It appeared to have no chorizo on it so it was sent back to the kitchen and I was informed they added more. Chorizo was not spicy, the dish had good flavors!

Service was good and they have a button at your table for when you are ready or need or a server. The server was attentive to our table and we used the button once.

I can not say it enough. This restaurant is hands down my absolute favorite venue to get a drink (both loaded and n/a), an appetizer, an entre, AND dessert all in one sitting! Very few meet my standards to do so, and the ambiance is all part of the package.

Their pairing of textures and flavor alongside an array of options give me a hard time choosing every single time I glance over their menu. From fried brussels to cheesy bacon poutine, butternut squash risotto to pork shank brocoli mac and cheese with an apple gastrique, apple crisp with a side of ice cream or chai crème brûle, the delictable options can satiate you just imagining them!

But I guarantee they will look even better on your plate. The thought and care it took to curate this spread was incredibly intelligent. Rylie our waitress was by far one of the best in the business AND even the host who sat us kept her eye out on our well-being long after doing so, by offering a handy to-go bag for our boxes of leftovers before our departure. When I say hands down, I mean it. Black Sheep, thank you for all that you do for MKE's gastromy!

There was a lot to like about Black Sheep. It was our first time here. We had made a reservation and got right in. Got seated by the window, at a high top table. The room was noisy and took extra effort to hear each other. (not horrible) Had terrific service for the entire meal (thanks Riley). Beverages were a mix of wine and cocktails, which were both good.

The food was good but not great. Started with the Brussel Sprout appetizer, which was one of the best that we've had. The entrees were a burger (cooked perfectly to medium rare) and the Pork Shank. Food came out well presented and hot. The gluten bun was either very dry or stale. It pretty much fell apart. The burger itself was good. The pork shank was good, but also a bit dry or maybe overcooked (two days of leftovers were very good) .

Ended the meal with flourless chocolate. It was also good, but prefer it to be more dense and less cake like.

Overall it was a good meal and experience. But we didn't put it on our "must go back" list.

Bizarre experience. My husband and I tried to come here for dinner, and we didn't have a reservation so we would have been fine with waiting. The host said he'd see what was available - it wasn't overly busy and there were open tables, but I assume those were for reservations. He returned and said no tables were available, so we asked to go to the bar...and he told us no. Didn't let us sit at the bar at all or offer to let us wait for anything to open up. We were super surprised to be completely turned away when there were spots open at the bar...overall a very awkward and unpleasant experience. Not sure we will ever try to return after that!
