The brussel sprouts and handhelds were ok, but be careful with the fried chicken bao. Mine was raw on the inside and I didnt realize it until I had already eaten some. I alerted the served who was super apologetic, but the manager could have handled it better. Came to the table super casual and said "I heard there is an issue" instead of immediately apologizing, offering concern and explaining how it would be handled. He didn’t provide his name or any contact info if I got food poisoning from the meal. I am only a few hours removed from the situation so I am hoping I don't have to spend the rest of my vacay in the bathroom. 💩🤢🤮

I ordered fish tacos for carry out and they were pretty inedible IMO. The fish portion was so small that it only covered half the length of the shell. It also made the taco taste oversauced. The slaw mixture was hot when I ate it (could be a packaging/transportation issue) and it was like biting into hot mayo coated veggies which wasn't pleasant. Overall it was just kind of gross. The small portions of fish were cooked well though. I ate those and ended up throwing the rest away.

As someone who has been in the service industry for a really long time and works in fine dining in Milwaukee this place has so much potential to be great!!
The atmosphere is great. Inside and out. The staff is welcoming and friendly.
Service (especially on the patio) can be rough. I've been to BlueBat 6 separate times and have had one positive service experience.

Don't sit outside if you want somewhat fast service. It takes a long time for just drinks even when it's slow. And, I tend to give way more lee-way to service because I understand how things can get backed up and that sometimes places are understaffed.
I will still come here for the items I know are good and they always make me a great spicy Paloma!!

This was my second visit to Blue Bat. While the food remains solid, the service during this visit was extremely disappointing. We chose to sit outside, not realizing there was only one server handling the entire patio.

After a long wait, our server finally arrived. My date ordered a specific drink, and though the server claimed she could make it just as requested, she brought something different. When we inquired about correcting it, she simply said, “That’s how they make it,” which felt dismissive and unhelpful.

Following another lengthy wait after finishing our meal, our server opted to take a shot with the table next to us rather than check on us or bring our bill. I eventually had to flag her down to close out. By then, the experience had already been soured.

I understand that restaurants get busy, but the level of inattentiveness and unprofessionalism we encountered was unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this location based on this experience.

All in all, it was an OK experience. This was my first trip to Milwaukee and our group decided to have dinner here. We waited about 20 minutes to get napkins and silverware after our food was served so it ended up being a bit cold once we started eating. I’ve been to Blue Bat twice—once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is good but nothing particularly memorable. My friends enjoy this place more than I do- they love the fried foods and sauces. Pretty good overall experience. Would be interested in giving it another chance. We ordered chips, salsa, guac and it was pretty decent, but would have to pay for chips if we ate all of the chips. Which isn’t really a regular thing restaurants do. Usually chips are unlimited but salsa and guac would be extra. Not to mention the chips were served in a tiny bag so you don’t really get much. Guac had a lot left to be desired. Also ordered a steak bowl of some sort. It honestly could be such a good choice if the steak wasn’t cold and they didn’t dump 4 cups of onions in it. Was bummed cause it was so close to being a hit. The margaritas were very good though. Pro tip we found out after which our waitress didn’t let us know about. They do pitchers here, so if you plan on drinking with a group of people, just get the pitcher. They didn’t tell us and just let us run up the bill ordering single drinks. But besides those things, enjoyed it and would give it another chance because everything was just so close to being fantastic but fell short every time.

I don't eat any seafood except fish so I didn't taste my partner's dish but she said it was amazing. We sat and talked for a while and asked for the bill and the bartender apologized that the meal "took so long to arrive"...what?... it was rather confusing because it didn't even feel like 5 minutes. I don't think we waited long at all. the bill wasn't even $50 with tax and I'm sorry if you're reading this I just noticed on my receipt I wanted to tip you $15 and not $5. Really enjoyed our meal here when visiting Milwaukee. We got two appetizers and two mains to share, and were very impressed by the Poké Nachos which were simple, but fresh and so delicious!
We even considered getting a 2nd portion as "dessert" but were too full up by the end of the meal.
We're hoping to try and recreate them at home here in Denmark, but are not quite sure what exactly the chips were (fried flour tortillas, wonton wrappers?). Maybe you can be of assistance?
If we ever get the chance to stop by again, we for sure will.
Although, visiting in October it was too cold to sit outside but the surroundings are quite stunning by the waterside, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
