First time there. Hostess and server great. Sitting at counter, glanced up and seen the light switches, oh jeez we're they filthy. While eating 2 of the waitstaff stood in front of myself and another gentleman eating and talking and laughing loudly. Very rude. Especially when they are speaking in Spanish looking at us and laughing. Food and portions were very good.

Hometown vibe with a super friendly staff. Came in for a Friday night and was seated quickly, orders taken shortly after and didn’t have to wait long for the food. Portions were very good. Pan-fried Walleye was excellent. Strawberry summer salad was amazing and very good portion. The cod was also good size and tasty. Our grandson’s chicken tenders were also large and a huge order of fries for a kids meal. The only complaint is the smelt was very fishy tasting and had large bones. It was big portion, but the smelt were a bigger size too, making the taste not the best at all. We didn’t complain though because everything else was great.

My husband’s and daughter’s meals were good. Reasonably priced and good portions . Mine on the other hand was not good. I had the chicken dinner special. The chicken was outstanding, perfectly done. The dressing under the chicken was also very good. Unfortunately, they doused the whole thing in a ton of really bad gravy, so much that it went over the edge of the plate. It ruined my dinner. I scraped off as much as I could, so I could at least have something to eat, but that horrible taste was still there.

The food is homemade and plenty of it! They have a variety of pies that you can purchase a slice. We take a piece to go. Breakfast is served all day and they have daily and senior specials. We have stopped 3yrs on our way to Spider Lake. The prices are reasonable. The staff is always friendly and go above and beyond. GREAT PLACE!!

Waited almost an hour, as we watched two big groups come in after we were seated and ordered. They received their salads, soups and then their meals before we got our appetizer. Friend got charged for price of a coffee, when they didn't order coffee. She ordered just plain hot water, not to add anything to it, just because that's how they prefer it. Last visit a couple months ago, there was no charge. This time they charged her the price of coffee. The guy at the register said because it was heated, and she used a coffee cup for it, that's what she had to pay🙄 There were 2 other coffee cups on our table that we didn't use, so WTH reasoning is that. Never going back. Ridiculous to charge $2.50 for a cup of hot water.

I love coming to Blue Willow when I want a delicious, filling meal that won't break the bank! This is the place the locals go & is one of our hidden gems here in Wausau. The atmosphere is so warm & friendly that you feel that you are amongst friends anytime you stop in. The waitresses are always attentive & do not pressure you to make up your mind quickly or attempt to upsell you on more expensive meals. The portions are extremely generous & you will not leave hungry! They also have delicious pies to enjoy there or to take home. I highly recommend the berry bliss crepes and the lemon supreme pie.

This place feels like a big, fuzzy, warm scam. Everyone gives glowing reviews, but if they checked their receipts, they might not be so happy. I was there, ordered some food, and the total was $7 over what was on my bill. The manager, or whoever the elderly host is, checked me out and asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I told him no three times, stating I left a tip on the table. When I came back in asking why I was charged so much, he chalked it up to "because you paid with a card and there's a 3% charge." Okay, how does that make any sense? Even with a 3% charge and 5.5% sales tax, it should have been 8.5% total, meaning my bill should have been around $28.21, since the base charge was around $26. So, if it came up to $33 something, it means he charged me 28.5%: 3% for the credit card service fee, 5.5% for sales tax, and a 20% tip. How many people, especially elderly ones, have probably swiped their card at this establishment and been ripped off because they weren't paying attention? And if they get caught, they just chalk it up to "Oh sorry, I accidentally hit the tip button."What they're doing is criminal and should be investigated.

Food is good, but we ordered sweet potato fries with Philly wrap and server didn't write it down. Also ordered Berry Bliss pancakes and must have been cooked with Philly wrap because there was a mushroom in the pancake as well as crunchy stuff from the grill. Good atmosphere and lots of locals love it. But for us, it's one and done.
