First the food was great! I had the bagel with salmon. My friends had avocado toast and the other the hashbrown breakfast. All of the food was amazing!
What wasn't amazing was the service. We waited over 5 minutes for anyone to appear at all to acknowledge us or seat us. Then it took many more minutes for our drink order and even longer to get the water let alone the coffee. We were very ready to order at this point but needed someone else to take our order. No less than 3 tables of people that came in after us and sat down got up and walked out because no one even asked if they wanted something to drink! I only got one cup of coffee no offer for a refill. Never asked about how food was until we were done and asking for the bill, which even though we asked, we still had to get up and get it after waiting yet again.
I get that they may have had trouble with staff coming in from storm and been short handed BUT they never said anything until we were asking for bill AND I watch a young man bringing out drinks and food and then disappearing for long periods of time!
Again food was good but you need to have 2 hours to get breakfast even when there were only 3 tables of people in the restaurant when we arrived.

They were out of corned beef and waited till we ordered it to tell us rather than telling customers before seating. It was 11am right when they opened.

I understand supplier shortages, they happen. What I have an issue with is that your server and host did not notify us of the unavailable items at the time of seating. My partner and I are both servers. When we arrive at work the kitchen always tells us what items are 86ed for the day. The first thing either of us do when handing menus out is notify the customer of the unavailable items. As far as your "server doing everything in their power to make our experience good after this happened", we paid for our drinks and left. I even still left a 5 dollar tip. Petty would have been not leaving a tip. This is just accountability.

We’ve eaten here twice now during visits to the area. We’ve been coming to the area for years but never knew about this little gem. The food is absolutely delicious and fresh. I opted for the Rachel sandwich twice because it was so good the first time and my wife got the Asian chicken wrap with the delicious peanut butter sauce (don’t know if that’s the proper name) she also got the side salad which was completely fresh! Our adorable waitress, the taller lady with the black hair even came running out to our car when my wife forgot her box of leftovers. Atmosphere is nice and chill and the staff we’ve dealt with so far were class acts. Great place to eat, I was contemplating even leaving a review because I wanted to be selfish and keep it a secret 🤣 but it’s totally worth your time to stop. Your belly will thank you.

We (2) entered the cafe about 11:45 and were seated immediately. Our server turned up about 12:15 to take our drinks order. He eventually brought our drinks and took our food orders, which were a salad and a quinoa bowl. It took another good thirty minutes before our food showed up. Meantime, other diners who came in after us had their drinks before we even got to order ours and had their food before ours was ordered.
Taking well over an hour to be served food that didn't even have to be cooked (all cold ingredients) in a cafe at lunch time is unacceptable.
Follow-up: Adriana had offered us a full refund. In addition she has offered a free lunch should we ever be in Sturgeon Bay again. For that reason I have increased my rating.
Update: I have received a refund as well as an unexpected donation to my favourite charity, which is much more than I expected, so I have increased my overall rating to five stars.

Really would give 2.5 stars. My biggest complaint would be pricing points, $18 burger pay extra $3 for fries (vs kettle chips that looked and tasted like lays kettle chips or a side salad) $3 non alcoholic fountain beverage. Standard service nothing was great when you are paying more than most places. Looks to have great options for vegans/vegetarians. So for $24 for burger/fries/soda I expect great not just good.

**Poor Service and Lack of Empathy**

This has been a favorite of ours. But today was another story. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience, especially when it came to accommodating the needs of an elderly person in my party.

From the moment we sat down, the server seemed indifferent to our requests. They were out of a number of items we attempted to order. We asked if they could substitute the bread on a sandwich with a softer option, as it was for an elderly guest who struggles with chewing. Instead of understanding and helping, the kitchen was dismissive and refused to make the simple substitution.

The only other suitable item on the menu was a children's meal. We were told by the server this was not allowed but after pushing she made the exception so I ordered 2 children's meals in hopes of 1 meal working out.

The food arrived for me, and only the PBJ sandwich. Then we had to wait an extra 10 minutes for her Grilled Cheese to arrive. It was frustrating and felt like her needs were completely overlooked.

Also, I was charged the price of an adult meal for a grilled cheese with all items removed and no sides included and also charged an additional $4 to add avocado. So in essence I paid $26 for a grilled cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwich there were not edible.

This experience was deeply disappointing, and the lack of compassion and basic customer service was unacceptable. We won’t be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who has specific needs.

They kindly moved two tables together and sat us even with a few on their way walking over. Small outdoor table seating or indoor which is primarily table seating and s few booths. I've never had my food served to me on a quarter size kitchen sheet pan before. I had to ask for a plate after looking around and seeing that everyone else in the establishment was served on regular plates. The burger was tasty although the brioche bun disintegrated. The fries were soggy and possibly re-baked? Even the honey I asked for was badly crystalized in the package. This weird service at a nice cafe was really surprising as this place came highly recommended. The rest of the staff were extra friendly which seem disingenuous. I didn't finish my meal and am unlikely to return or recommend.

We ended up in this place just driving by, didn’t expect anything. But wow, were we surprised! We had the curry sandwich and the Rachel sandwich, plus a cup of soup and a side salad. Everything was delicious! Probably the best side salad I ever had, so many different veggies in it and made so meticulously. Both sandwiches were exceptional. The atmosphere was cozy and both our server and the manager (owner?) were super welcoming and friendly. We did not have a kid with us but I observed that when the people at the next table left, someone wiped the entire high chair down with wipes - not just the top but the entire chair. If you’ve ever gotten one of those grody high chairs handed for your kid you know that this is not the norm!

First time eating here, we stopped by on Labor Day. I got the Asian Pork Belly Rice Bowl. It was absolutely delicious! 10/10. I would order that dish again and again.

A good meal can be surprisingly hard to find in Door Cty., so after a morning of hiking at Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point, how wonderful to find this cute spot that not only met, but exceeded expectations. I was floored to see that the soup special was Brazilian mocqueca- and it was first-rate. Lovely mild fish, chunks of tomato, cilantro, coconut milk, and the requisite dendè palm oil. I had a cup but easily could've eaten a bowl! Next was the grilled cauliflower steak on toasted sourdough with romesco sauce, and it was delicious as well. Very impressed by the number of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Just wish I lived closer!
Since I couldn't help but notice the number of not-nice comments here about the service, I also wanted to share that my friend and I were promptly greeted, seated, and served on a Saturday in summer on Door County.

Was recommended this restaurant by a fellow tourist to Door County. While the food was delicious and the restaurant clean and appealing, we were not met by a server until 10 minutes into being seated. It took another 15 minutes to get water delivered, another 20 minutes for our server to realize she never submitted our order. And then another 20 minutes to receive our food. Our server was short, seemingly unapologetic, and offered a cookie as consolation, yet never tried to improve her hospitality, on outward concern.

I'd be surprised if this was typical for the restaurant, as it was full later in the lunch hour, and as we observed other servers, it seemed that most people were receiving their food on time and were being cared for appropriately.

Unfortunately, in our experience, the service, or lack thereof throughout the entirety of our meal really took away from our experience. I enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich and fries, and my wife would have enjoyed the Asian chicken wrap even more if it had more than a sparse amount of chicken.

I wouldn't stop a group I was with from going, and I would join in without a complaint, but if I'm in control of choosing whether or not to go back, I would most likely find a different restaurant to try out.

We have come here every time we’re in Door County and we get the same thing - the bahn mi sandwhich. It’s incredible and even 3 years after our first time, it doesn’t disappoint. You need to go out of your way to come here, you will be glad you did.

Only complaint is they up-charged $3 each for fries and a small cup of soup. They asked for our side and we assumed it was included. All together an expensive lunch at $40 for 2 sandwiches. But again, worth it!

Perfect Gem of a Lunch Spot!
My family and I stopped here for lunch during our travels through Door County. I ordered the Bahn Mi Bowl- packed full of a rainbow of fresh, delicious veggies! The others ordered sandwiches and wraps, and they were all incredibly delicious and flavorful. It was busy, due to the lunchtime rush, but service was attentive and didn’t take excessively long to receive our food. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone in the area!

To be honest, we were starving when we arrived. We were seated rather quickly. Order was taken in a timely manner. The food took longer than I expected. I said something and was immediately greeted by the manager Sue. Sue was very polite and personable. Jane the host explained how intricately the food is presented. She also explained how high the standards are there and how everything has to be perfect. I have to say, what an amazing lunch today. We will definitely be returning here next time we are in town. Thank you Sue and Jane. You came through and exceeded any expectations we could have possibly dreamed up. We were blown away with all the delicious flavors that the food had.

The food was good. Bread was pretty dry, chicken salad & muffuletta were great but it took 28 mins to get sandwiches and a side salad. We noticed because I got a text during that time. Did not come back to check how our food was until we were done and had the plates piled up. No refills on drinks. She was non-existent during our meal. Also the hours are incorrect on Google.

From bodacious banh mi sandwiches to wonderful wraps, I've sampled several scrumptious dishes from Bluefront Cafe, but never have I had an experience quite so decadent as last night's dinner and wine pairing.

This six-course smorgasbord began with ceviche scallops and a scrumptious little chicken croquette. While the croquette was scrumptious and pulled a nice bit of spice from the sauce smear below, I was quite taken by the luscious little lime pillows of the ceviche.

Next came a beautifully built checkered salad comprised of cucumber, watermelon, and a Hispanic cheese called panela (similar to feta.) the feta like cheese made a wonderful pair to the melon and cucumber, a pairing that I find underutilized as a whole. The salad was tied together with a lovely vinegreta Mexicana and just a smattering of sweet jelly.

The soup was a concoction comprised of yellow corn grits, savory broth, and braised short ribs. The result had huge comfort food chops reminiscent of the filling my grandmother once used for homemade pot pies.

The bass plate was my chosen favorite as the parings were the most unexpected. Many have tried to pass off cauliflower for mashed potatoes in the past, and this is the first time I would admit that I was genuinely stunned that I had not been eating potatoes. The creamy mousse was crowned with a layer of seared spinach, a flaky fillet of bass, a sour-sweet glaze, and a crown of mint. The flavors all came together with a well-thought-out balance, but the real star here was the mint.

While many pulled the crown of mint and cast it aside as garnish, I broke mine up and enjoyed it with the fish. It added a whole new element to the flavors presently on the plate and has me considering testing mint-fish pairings in my own kitchen. I hope the chefs were as impressed with this dish as I was. Truly remarkable.

While I would say the bass was the true entree of this meal, the main event came in the form of sous vide chicken and steak. The steak was done masterfully with a heavy char to the outside and vibrant color in middle and paired well with the accompanying salsa. Sous vide chicken is hard to hate, but rolling the thigh in the garnish of Brazil nuts gave it that bit of extra pop.

The journey came to end on the sweet, sweet note of a decadent passionfruit truffle that saw a fruit layer over velvety chocolate. This was accompanied by churros with an elegant dulce de leche sauce and a shot of coffee.

It was a perfect conclusion to a wonderful night of adventurous eating. The table settings were elegant and inviting. The music was smooth and enjoyable and the wine went down easy. Service was so spectacular that nearly every sip of water was immediately replaced. It was truly a wonderful event.

I hope that they are able to host more in the future so everyone can share in the experience.

We had a delightful lunch! I had half soup and sandwich. The soup was Brazilian, as was the chef, and it was filled with unusual spices and tang. I had the bah something sandwich, and its taste almost shouted in my mouth--unique and fresh. I tried a cider and it was too dry for me, so my server brought out a sample of a sweeter cider that she thought I would like. She was right! Great fun!

Very busy place! We went in at 2PM thinking it would be easy and still had a 20 min wait. Waitress said October is their busiest month (color watchers). Had a smoked tomato okra stew that was wonderful! Not a fan of the grilled cheese. Bland and not melty and gooey. Meatloaf sandwich was very good and their French fries were amazing! Very friendly staff. One waitress was working (short staffed like everywhere else) but she was working hard. We would definitely go back.
