Ordered the whitefish and the lobster mac and cheese. The whitefish was good, but the lobster mac was probably the best lobster mac and cheese I've ever had. The cheese itself had lobster flavor in it, and they put what seemed to be a full lobster's worth of meat. Market price was reasonable, too. Don't leave any of the cheese sauce behind, or you'll be missing out.

We came for a bachelorette party and had a terrible experience. The pregnant bride ordered the lobster mac, which smelled and tasted like hotdogs. She took one bite and couldn’t eat more. Three people in our group ordered it—not one of them took more than three bites. It was genuinely inedible, and no one liked it.
Another guest selected a Caesar salad, assuming it was the free house salad listed on the menu with her meal. The server didn’t mention it would cost extra. When we questioned the charge, she just said, “It’s not the house salad”—but how were we supposed to know that if she never clarified?
Because of the bad food and surprise charge, we left a small tip on the bride’s bill. Everyone else in our party tipped 20%, so our server still ended up with a 15% tip from our table—yet she still confronted us outside of the restaurant and questioned us about the tip in front of other guests. It was unprofessional, embarrassing, and completely inappropriate.
We called the manager after, and all we got was, “Sorry, that shouldn’t happen.” No accountability, no real apology.

The staff was raucus and unprofessional. At least 5 of them were standing at the bar laughing loudly setting an almost party atmosphere and sharing what seemed to be a joke. Some spoke in their native language even though patrons were seated in the restaurant. It seemed someone in management should have been in control. The food was at a chain food restaurant level. Our server Johnathan was professional and did act properly. Overal a disappointing experience.

When we came in Wednesday 8/20/25 around 3:30, we had to wait till the hostess would stop texting or whatever else she was typing on her phone. Asked for indoor seating, first was told no, but said "I guess we can seat you inside."
Our waiter, Jonathan was excellent, continued to check on us.
The rest of the wait staff, SAT at the bar talking and laughing loudly. Very rude!
Food was just OK.
We definitely will not be back, or recommend.

I came in on a Thursday for to go order. Was told to sit at the bar and waited 45 minutes for my order to only see that it was sitting there by the hostess and getting cold in a bag but i did not want to assume. So i waited and after a while I had to ask the bartender who was very nice about my order and then all of a sudden my order was ready, which was the bag sitting waiting for me. For an $80 meal I’m super disappointed. By the time I got back to my hotel, the food was cold. Why not just have people place the order at the bar so that the bartender can keep tabs on it. The bartender comped my husband’s drink but there was no apologies or offer to remake the luke warm food. I am really disappointed in the service. The overall restaurant vibe was nice. But to people eat and leave before you put a sour taste in my mouth. My food wasn’t even worth eating because I’m sorry who wants microwaved fried shrimp. So my first experience was definitely not a positive.

Stopped in for lunch and ordered the whitefish chowder and half wedge salad. Both were excellent and more than enough for lunch. I noticed other tables getting the lobster mac and cheese and the lobster rolls. They looked great, but I would have needed a bigger appetite to tackle those.

My server, “Curlss” with two s’s, was phenomenal. She was friendly, engaging, and quick to take care of anything I needed.

The menu is on the pricey side, but that seems to be more about Sister Bay in general than this restaurant specifically. Overall, a great spot for lunch with attentive service and good food.

I have never left a negative review in my entire life… I am extremely forgiving and hate to associate anything negative with someone’s business but unfortunately my experience here really called for an honest review.

I was really excited at first to visit this place but quickly became shocked by how rude the manager bartending was especially to a young woman. As someone who personally worked over a decade in the service and entertainment industry, I could not believe the unprofessional & aggressive approach this man felt entitled to towards a paying customer. The owners of this restaurant truly need to find a new manager with some self control or put him in the back so no one has to deal with him. I truly hope he treats the employees working nicer but I’m doubtful.

I was extremely exhausted from just traveling 12 hours and was waiting on a group of girlfriends to show up. Originally I was really excited about this place, I had my buzzer and ordered my first beer at the bar. Crazy to think this guy was the manager but he brought me a super full beer (which was nice) but after taking a few sips, I set it down and a little splashed out of the side of the glass. I was trying to be kind and clean up the little spill so the staff wouldn’t have extra to wipe up. I said very nicely “ excuse me, can I get a napkin”? It was not that busy at the bar at that time but the manager working behind the bar turned to me, got angry and aggressively responded “Pa!? Pa!? Pa!!? I was confused by his anger and could tell he was talking down to me but I still kindly responded “please”. He said “There you go!… He rudely tossed a napkin in front of me, said “People here actually have manners”. and walked away. I was especially stunned because this was my first encounter/impression of anyone in Sister Bay. A place I had previously heard was great and people were wonderful. I felt extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was actually the biggest lack of manners I had ever seen from any bartender/manager in my entire life. I’ve traveled over 25 countries and lived all over the US and Europe. His approach was extremely classless, childish and unprofessional behavior of a grown man power tripping.

Luckily the server our group of girls had at our table was amazing, so kind, professional, timely and fun. I am leaving her out of this review because she is the complete opposite and I am so so thankful for the outstanding service she gave our table. She truly saved my experience here.

Unfortunately the prime rib I ordered was the most disgusting entree I’ve ever had, which is wild because prime rib is my
favorite. I could not stomach/force myself to finish close to half of it. The sauce, the meat, the mashed potatoes all tasted worse than dirt. I was so sad! I didn’t send it back but I had to let it go to waste. I tried to add pepper and hot sauce to force myself to eat it but decided to quit because it actually felt like it was torture to eat it. I got chills later that night and felt like I had food poisoning.

I did try the Lobster Mac and that was good. Wish I ordered that instead.

We swung in to the boathouse for lunch because Al Johnson’s was a 60 minute wait. So glad we walked up the street! Our server,John, was quietly highly competent and professional. I noticed he never sat still, during the one lull he was moving around filling water glasses(it was hot, appreciated). The food came out quickly and was excellent. Shrimp basket in Wisconsin is always a roll of the dice and this one is reallly good, big good shrimp. Upper story view over the bay and plenty of shade to be had. Thanks for a great lunch!

Came here on a Friday night for a quick dinner and enjoyed it! We got calamari to share, watermelon mojitos, and I got the fish fry dinner. I was certainly not expecting this fish fry to be so big, it was actually pretty disappointing that I had to waste at least half of it. I wish there was a half plate option if the regular dinner is this large, or at least have a description on the menu with how many pieces they include (I would’ve ordered something else if I knew)! I'll sum up my review. The food is quite expensive. The location is pretty good and they do have their own parking lot in the back with space for maybe 10 cars or so. The menu is small which is a good thing and a bad thing. I would assume that since the menu is small all of the food is very fresh and they can do a good job preparing it. On the other hand, the menu is small, so if you want a variety of things or a particular thing then they probably won't have it.

I likely won't be coming here for a while. There are plenty of other nice door county restaurants nearby. I recommend Husby's in particular.

I rarely leave reviews, but I’m still frustrated hours after our visit tonight.

We came in for dinner with our two toddlers. It was busy, so the slower service wasn’t a big deal—we get it. The staff overall was friendly, and one of the hostesses even made a sweet effort to talk to our kids, which we really appreciated.

However, what left me absolutely baffled was the kids’ meal situation. I asked our server how big the kids’ mac and cheese was (listed at $13.50), and he told me it’s just 6oz of Kraft mac and cheese—as in, the kind you buy in a box for under a dollar.

This is a restaurant that offers a house-made mac and cheese on the regular menu, so why not serve that to kids? At that price point, I expected something made in-house, not something I could make better at home in five minutes. Charging over $13 for a kids meal—especially when it’s just boxed Kraft—is incredibly disappointing and honestly feels a little insulting to families dining out.

In the end, I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and shared it with my toddlers, which was more than enough for all of us. If you’re visiting with kids, I highly recommend skipping the kids menu and either sharing your plate or ordering an adult entrée for them instead.

This experience left a bad taste in my mouth (and not from the food), and I hope the restaurant rethinks their kids meal offerings—especially when they’re charging full adult prices.

The service was excellent; we received a prompt greeting and seating upon arrival. However, the table placement was unsatisfactory, as it positioned us facing the street with our backs to the other diners and the exit.

The bratwurst was excessively charred at one end and lacked flavor.

The ribeye steak was satisfactory, although not exceptional.

Maddy was wonderful! We were tired and cranky and hungry when we arrived but as soon as we met Maddy we perked right up! She understood the assignment. We ordered parmesan panko walleye and broiled whitefish. The breading on the walleye crispy but somewhat overpowered the delicate fish. I recently visited Boathouse on the Bay at 10716 N Bay Shore Dr, in Sister Bay, WI. It's nicely located in Sister Bay and within walking distance of the marina. I sat at the bar and greeted soon. My drink order was taken and the server and myself discussed lunch choices..I ordered the shrimp basket that came with seven large shrimp cooked nicely. A nice view as well. A good place to eat.

I don't know where to start. My boyfriend and I ate there a little bit ago and couldn't get out of there faster after the bill was paid. The restaurant looks nice, but the service was severely lacking. I was not that hungry and ordered a kids meal, but my boyfriend ordered two bratwursts. The waitress asked if he was sure or if he wanted to start with one. The question itself was okay, but how the tone came out was judgemental. My mac and cheese was obviously kraft, and I would say not amazingly made. While I was eating my fries, and USING ketchup. The waitress came over smiled, and said I'm taking these. She took my ketchup and the mustard away and gave them to the table next to us. I did not have enough ketchup for my fries. My boyfriend also used the restrooms and saw about 4 large hornets. He is very allergic and will become unconscious if stung. There were also flies bugging us the entire meal. And my lemonade had no sweetener and tasted like pure lemon juice.

The food was great and our waitress was great but the hostess seemed to be either racist or homophobic. She skipped our group 9+ times before seating us. Many groups that got there after us were seated before us with an equal number of party members and the hostess refused to look at us or treat us like we even existed. We waited for 2 hours for food. Terrific lobster 🦞 roll. Many places seem to skimp on the meat, which certainly is not the case at Boathouse. Perfectly toasted bread and a heaping of portion makes this a winner! Also really enjoyed the cheese curds and Bloody Mary. Views of the bay from upstairs give the restaurant an awesome vibe.

We had the lobster Mac & cheese and 1/2# peel & eat shrimp. Wow. The m&c was creamy, rich with huge chunks of
Lobster. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, not over or under. I wished the m&c had more crispy bread crumbs on top. I’m ready to go back just writing this post.

We were there on a Sunday evening, the food was delicious as usual. However the service was poor. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and after being seated, our male waiter never asked if we wanted another drink with dinner, never asked if we needed anything after he brought our food to us and never checked on us at all. He brought our bill and we had to ask him about dessert after we sat for a period of time waiting for him to return. I mentioned this to one of the two hostesses on our way out and she just said okay. We noticed lots of standing around and hanging at the bar. Very disappointing as we saved this restaurant for our last meal in Door County.

Pretty average for a Wisconsin Friday Fish Fry. The breading on the Perch was not crispy, like it was cooked earlier and served lukewarm. Fries were good and crispy. Side of coleslaw was good and the tartar sauce has an herb I cannot place, it’s good but different. Had the cheese curds and they were standard fare, like Sysco cheese curds, while advertised as the local artisan cheese maker curds.

The vibe and aesthetic are great! They have cool merch, but food is WAY overpriced. The drinks were mid, and most of the food we got was just okay. However we left very full and broke. Good times will probably come again.

Service was slow and in attentive. Cocktails had mediocre mixology without offering sufficient flavour and alcohol was too prominent in flavour profile. Yet despite this, the drinks lacked kick in the alcohol. The white fish po boi was overpriced. Bread tasted like it was out of a bag. Sauce lacked any memorable flavour. Fried fish had no real taste but left with typical nasty fried stomach feeling. Service took dishes before we said we were ready. Very meh to bad and overpriced experience that the Bay View does not make up for.

Generally Door County food has been quite good. But, this was not. We’ve lived in San Francisco. Chicago. And travelled all over the World and had plenty of great meals from low end to high end. This was not one of them.

The restaurant is busy and for good reason, the food is amazing, with outdoor seating on the second level both under shelter, under umbrella, or with the umbrellas closed a beautiful view of the bay and harbor as part of the nautical theme of the restaurant adds to the atmosphere. We both enjoyed their famous Po Boy sandwichs with upgraded sides, fried cheese curds that are lightly breaded so the highlight is the curd and not a shell of carbs that other restaurants do. The Mac and Cheese bowel was a large serving with fancy noodles and toasted bread crumbs on top of beautifully melted cheese that isn't from a powder mixture. Both plates had a coleslaw that had a little bite from what tasted like horseradish that was added and not heat from the cabbage. The heat was balanced nicely with the rest of the dish. Dill pickle spears, red onion and tomato slices on the side to add to the Po Boy if you choose and a mayo sauce that could of been a chipotle mix also on the side for the sandwich as well. The drink menu was full of rum, vodka, and tequila mixers. That were priced accordingly and not over strong. We can't wait to return for another date meal.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food and service were outstanding! My wife loved the Ribs! I had the Veggie Sailor since I am a Vegan. I know I cheated a little bit on my diet, but it was delicious! Highly recommend Boathouse on the Bay!

Food was poorly prepared at a number of restaurants. 2-3 places advertised being open and we drove to them and they were closed. So, the places that were open, like "wilsons" was buried in customers. And we were not going to wait 30 minutes for them to just be able to take our order. We left.

The food is outstanding. We had the Grouper special and it was delicious. Perfectly done. The seafood chowder was great. They have a nice selection of wine, beer, and drinks. Big shout out to Sergio!! Way to make dining out an experience. We actually ended up eating here twice on our Labor Day weekend because it was so good. Saturday the host was so sweet and accommodating. We had a friend who had hip surgery. She made sure we had an easily accessible table for him. Our server Kim was phenomenal. As was the lobster (consistently amazing), tuna (could not believe how big the serving was), catfish (he said it was the best he’d ever had) and my plain ol chicken sandwich (nothing plain about it!). Those coconut and strawberry mojitos were to die for! Thank you for the wonderful service and delicious food!!

Had a fantastic lunch here. The bloody was perfect and the food was delicious! One of the few places I've never been to in Door County and I will absolutely be back again.

Our server was very nice and promptly got the bloodys to our table. The location has a covered patio, full bar, and indoor restaurant.

Reasonably priced, quality, Florida-Gulf style restaurant is what you can expect from this place.
