It used to be THE BEST BBQ. Now the smoked pork was way over smoked and had lots of grissle. The brisket was horribly fatty, couldn't cut it with a fork. The ribs were good. The sides are 1/2 the size they used to be. AND of course the price went up.

If I could leave more than five stars, I would. I hosted a small event in their back room, and the staff could not be more accommodating and helpful. Everyone was happy with their food and their drinks, often commenting how delicious everything was. The service was prompt and friendly. My husband and I can’t wait to go back for a regular dinner! We had a great time at Boondocks. It started out with staff being extremely friendly towards us. The bartenders introduced themselves and showed us a drink menu with some unique twists. The waitstaff were attentive and helpful in explaining their offerings. The four of us each had a different bbq and all were delicious. It was great to be out on a Saturday night with wonderful food, friendly staff, and a relaxing atmosphere. Nestled in lake country allows for a delightful drive also. Prices were good and one of the lower bills we’ve had in awhile.

We are not from the area and saw this was close to where we were visiting before we headed home with two toddlers. The staff was exceptional. We felt like the only ones despite the occupancy. The waitress was very attentive. It can be hard and nerve wracking to go to restaurants with small kids and she made us feel at home. The drinks were very good and the food was delicious. I felt like it was priced very well too. We got the two person platter to share amongst my husband, me and the kids. We liked the variety and it was more than enough for us. We highly recommend and would gladly return.

This was NOT fresh bbq. I’m not sure if it even was bbq. If it was, how did you manage to have no rings on anything…the ribs, brisket, or pork? Was there 1 week ago. Fish was not good. Ordered perch and the batter seemed crispy on outside but it was very doughy on inside. Told our waitress, she apologized and we asked if we could just try 1 piece of the cod. She brought us 2 complete cod dinners. Very kind, but that batter just fell off and it was watery inside. I decided to take my family there this past Father's day, 2025. I came across a discount on an app on my phone. I called before booking the reservation, to ensure that they would accept the discount. I was told to just come in and they would figure it out. I spent roughly $250 between my family's food and 2 bottles of sauce to go. When it came time to pay the bill , the owner came to the table and refused to honor the discount of $25. He claimed he didn't pay for the free adverting that brought me there with my family, therefore he didn't need to honor the discount. I explained that I had called in advance and even showed him the listing on the app to prove it had his restaurant's name and address on it. He still refused to honor it. Instead of leaving with a good taste in my mouth, the experience with the owner replaced it a bad taste. Therefore, instead of a 4 or 5 star review, this experience dropped it to a 2.

Fast friendly service and excellent food. The hostess pleasantly accommodated our unique seating request, and our server was very patient despite my struggles to pick an entree - they all looked so good! In the end I went with her recommendation, and she did not steer me wrong. The Nashville hot chicken was delicious, as were the brisket rolls and fried cheese curds. Another pleasant surprise was their mocktail menu, in that they had a full page menu to start with and the variety of NA drinks offered. This allowed my party of drinkers and non-drinkers alike to share a toast with no one feeling left out. Overall this was a great experience, the attention to detail and quality shows, and I look forward to coming back!

I just thought the bbq was okay. Wife and I ordered the sampler plate. Wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. Couldn't really taste that smoke/bbq flavor, and everything was really wet. I think the corn bread would've been great if it wasn't ruined by whatever juice or gravy the plate was sitting in. My kids ordered a burger and corn dogs, they loved it, I tried the burger and yes it was good. Service was good, atmosphere was awesome. What a good place! I came here on a Saturday to try the smoked prime rib. All 4 at the table tried it and would come back again for that alone. Had all sort of different sides which were all great from Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, baked beans, and haystack onion rings. Also tried the sample platter of smoked meats which wasn't the best ever but the rate the ribs for sure the best and something I would reorder. The old fashioned was delicious and good choices of beer. The atmosphere was great lots of good servers that were all super friendly. Lots of tv's everywhere where I could see being a good place to watch a game. Seen people come in and leave with bags of food for call in and take home if you don't wanna stay. Any of the sauces which are all house made are sold in the back room at the deli, which I didn't go look at but heard they also had cheesecakes...etc for sale.

We happened upon this place thanks to a Google search and the reviews were accurate. Excellent food and atmosphere. The hostess (Rade) was a delight and was so gracious and very welcoming. We shared a sampler platter for two with the four sides of Brussel sprouts, baked beans, potato pancakes, and the haystack onion rings. DELICIOUS!! ALL of it! My favorite of their house-made BBQ sauces was the Blackberry BBQ. It was so tasty I ended up purchasing a bottle from the market. They have a wonderful dining room towards the back that is specifically for veterans. SO thoughtful and nice!!
We also discovered that the restaurant is just a short walk from the cemetery where my mom and other relatives are buried. I had no idea since it was dark and our GPS took us on such a long and wandering route to get there. We will definitely be back to dine here whenever we visit my mom’s resting place.

We recently had Boondocks BBQ cater a birthday party, and it was a huge hit! We ordered brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, mac & cheese, cornbread, and slider buns, and everything was absolutely delicious. It arrived nice and hot and ready to go! I opted for a last-minute delivery change versus picking it up, which was accommodated with no trouble and definitely worth the price for not having to leave the party.

The brisket and pulled pork was incredibly tender, juicy and flavorful. They come without BBQ sauce (which I appreciate) to allow for people to choose their own. Both meats were a crowd favorite, especially when paired with the fresh slider buns for DIY sandwiches.

The sides were equally fantastic. The mac & cheese was creamy and comforting and topped with bacon. The brisket baked beans had a rich, flavorful sauce that complemented the meats perfectly. And the cornbread? It was moist, slightly sweet, and had subtle jalepeno or green pepper infusion and disappeared quickly!

We opted to try 3 homemade sauces: their house, vinegar, and blackberry and the house was a fan favorite!

Boondocks BBQ made the birthday party a memorable one with their top-quality food and took the load off of me cooking to be able to enjoy more time with our guests. Tom and his catering service was seamless, and the food was a perfect addition to our celebration. If you're planning an event and want to impress your guests, I highly recommend going with Boondocks BBQ! (Sorry forgot to take pics bc it was dug into way too fast!!)

I went here today (6/23/2024) with my family for my birthday lunch, and this is definitely one of the best restaurants. The waitress that served us (her name was Courtney) was very welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere was amazing. I would definitely recommend their onion rings, smoked mac & cheese, and baby back ribs. Since my family was earlier to arrive, the waitresses were kind enough to let us change tables. Had a quick dinner here tonight & very happy with our experience. Restaurant was not very busy, but had dinner at 7pm, so for a small town not too surprised. Had the raspberry cosmo & an old fashioned. Cocktails were tasty. Smoked chicken wings had a great smoked flavor, they didn’t even need any sauce! This was my first time visiting Boondocks. I had the pan-fried Walleye with onion rings for an appetizer. the onion rings were seasoned perfectly. They were not greasy. I don't like cole slaw because normally it is very sweet or vinegary. The cole slaw was so good. I wish I had the recipe for it. Finally, the walleye was perfect. Walleye is my favorite item at a fish fry. This was pan-fried to perfection. No bones, the flavor was the best I have ever had and I have eaten it many different places.

Absolutely delish wild caught fried cod. The salad, mac n cheese, and haystack onions were amazing too. The haystack was a little thicker than some places, but it was perfect. My husband had the special rosemary pork. It was very good.

Seating is lots of pub tables and bar with limited standard tables for the elderly or short people unless you're outside. I'd give 5 stars for the atmosphere if the TV and radio weren't blasting so loud inside and outside that you have to yell to talk to anyone . For us women, there is only 1 bathroom with 1 stall. So when they are busy, there is a waiting line.

I saw lots of posts about Boondocks so when we went fishing at Moose Lake and saw we could grab some food to go I jumped at the opportunity.

The staff was super friendly and helpful getting a two-goal order placed as well as got us a small table to enjoy some soda and nachos.

I've had barbecue all over the country and sadly this did not break the top 25 list. I was pretty disappointed. The ribs were the best but definitely not fall off the bone and the brisket broke my heart. Basically no bark, dry, and meh flavor. Maybe I'm the putz but you think after spending $100 they would give you some sauce to go....

I forgot to take photos of the meat at home but it was less than a 20 minute ride home. It was really sad most of it went back in the fridge and got thrown away the next day. Maybe for a date night we'll swing in and try it in house but if my wife puts this experience and stopping in together we probably won't.

Space is really cozy but updated. Nice patio seating, too. The menu has many options but not too many, even included vegetarian opts. The food is soooo good, well seasoned, and good portions. Had a great time there yesterday afternoon with a large group of friends. Much thanks to the Robert Allen Jr. Band for providing excellent live music on the patio for us! Our server, Kiley was super friendly and attentive. The drinks were great and she kept ‘‘em coming! The smoked chicken wings and Caribbean Jerk Salmon were delicious as well. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon. We will be back!

Delicious dine in and excellent choice for wedding catering 👌 we were frequent customers, which made Boondocks an obvious choice to cater our wedding. They did an excellent job from planning to day of execution. Our guests raved about how good the food was and we appreciated how easy they were to work with. Ribs were tasty. Zucchini fingers but get ranch on the side- delicious
Main Dish Food was good not great. I had a croissant with Brisket and the bottom was completely soggy.
The atmosphere was very nice. Great Bar area great outside patio area, friendly staff and great music. We would return but might eat before we come 😬
