I've been going to this place for easily 12 years now and Botanas NEVER let's me down. The margaritas are always on point and I swear I could drink there salsa with a straw it's that good. There consistency is so good every time I've been there everything tastes fantastic and just as good as the last time I was there. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Probably one of if not my favorite restaurant of all time.

Went for a birthday celebration. They do not split checks and gratuity is automatically applied at 18%. Party tables can be a bit much, I get it. 2 people arrived later to the party. I could tell the server, Angel was already annoyed. My mother asked about ordering and was told “just wait a minute” without any eye contact. She was able to finally place her order, however he brushed past immediately and I still needed to order. No biggie I waited until I saw him again. I ordered 3 steak taco plate, never received silverware, no chips and salsa, and nothing to accompany tacos (salsa verde y rojo nope). The food was just okay. Tacos were dry, no flavor at all, rice could have cooked a little longer, beans are very thin. La Fuentes by the Zoo is MUCH BETTER. El Tenampa off of 107th st also MUCH BETTER! El Taco Veloz food truck is MUCH BETTER THAN HERE. This place was a one and done for me. Avoid them if you can!

If I could give a 0 star rating, I would!! I went after my first time dining with my niece and nephew. I been multiple times prior and had a great experience. This time, I had a waitress named Rosalinda or something like that. I was seating today around 6:30pm if you enter and make a right then towards the back but still in the front. Anyway, this experience was good until she tried to argue back and forth with me about a tip. I asked the waitress for change of $20. She went on and told me how my bill was over $200 and going to give her such little tip. I never told her how much tip I was going to give her, only asked for change. Mind you, I had other money in my purse, which is irrelevant but I was going to give her more. I never been treated this way. She argued with me about it and shortly after, I decided to give her less because of the argument she gave in front of my family. I was embarrassed and disturbed. Then, I had a to go order. She proceeded to not acknowledge me or my table. I had to ask a manger for my to go food, then 2 minutes later, after 45 minutes, the to go order came out. This place is changing, I been going here for over 4 years and would never go back. Very distasteful attitude.

The spot is beautiful cosmetically inside and out has some dust spots like any other Milwaukee spot but the food is something I wouldn’t recommend too anyone They need too work on seasoning and flavor in everything it’s not just one thing but the rice beans tacos meat enchilada plain chicken tastes like it’s just boiled and white as the plates couldn’t even finish my food 1/4 of my entire plate trying too give them a second shot but not worth it

From the outside it’s a very nice place, but I have a different opinion on the inside. It was very dirty and gross. The bathroom needed to be cleaned desperately, the doors didn’t work in 2 of the stalls. The locks were broken. The food was extremely flavorless and gross, I got enchiladas and they had what tasted like gravy on them. The chicken was dry and white as can be with no seasonings. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They also had the parking lot blocked off while we were there.

They have the best frozen margaritas in town! So good and strong. However, last month I had an experience that left me feeling a bit uneasy. Me and my friend arrived at 8:15pm/8:20pm and drank and ate until about 9pm.

When the waitress brought us the check, we noticed an automatic gratuity added. I inquired about it and she informed us it’s automatically added after 9pm. We’d arrived way before 9pm and the receipt was printed at 9:02pm.

I asked for the manager and expressed my concerns and asked for the gratuity to be removed. He expressed that even if you arrived before 9pm, the automatic gratuity rule still applies if you’re still there at 9pm. The manager removed the gratuity but stated it would be a 1 time thing.

I had a better experience previously just drinking at the bar and will mostly likely just stick to that.

Very popular 🇲🇽 Mayan restaurant on the near south side. Huge court yard for a pleasant outdoor dining experience. The place accomodates all sizes of parties from smaller to company-sized. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with murals of the lush jungles of Meso-America, too Mayan art to a shrimp cocktail. The plates are big, rice and 🫘 🍛 are staples and the food, good and served quickly. You receive a lot of food for the price.

What can I say about Botanas? If you're looking for flair and quirk, this is the spot for you. It's as if the Rainforest Cafe meets your local Mexican restaurant. They always dress up the place for holidays, and it's particularly festive on the weekends. My friends and I always go here for a fun birthday dinner out, or to find a salve for the winter cold. Honestly we should probably branch out to new places, but we know we'll find what we're looking for here. I usually get their Super Burrito or Quesadilla with steak or chicken, and I'm always satisfied. The portions are substantial and the price is as-expected, and very worth it for the joy and dopamine hit I get in every bite. They don't mess around with their margaritas, always on the "alcohol-forward" side. Their service is prompt and unfussy, and there's plenty of parking on-site and nearby. This is a great place to gather with friends. Thank you Botanas for so many yummy meals!

Very importantly, this restaurant found a great solution for parking. There are plenty of spaces in the parking lot which is supervised by an attendant. Of course, it's important to remember a gratuity for the attendant when presenting the validated parking ticket.

5/5 stars! I recently visited Botanas on a scorching hot day, and I was so grateful for the cool and comfortable atmosphere inside. The air conditioning was a lifesaver!

I ordered the lunch special, which included two delicious carne asada tacos and a refreshing glass of horchata. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was quick and friendly.

I was also impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the restaurant. It's clear that the staff takes pride in their work and strives to provide a wonderful experience for their customers.

If you can, sit in Olivia H section. She is so funny, kind and so fast! Everything here is always good, I’ve probably eaten at least one of everything on the menu. The consistency is never lacking and adds to the overall experience. Even my vegetarian boyfriend loves everything here and the fact that they don’t use animal fat.

We drove in from Chicago headed to Fargo. Best choice I made! Amazing food, decent prices and outstanding service! Lefty was our server and she gave us a motherly vibe which is always welcomed! I was there for my birthday on Saturday and told them it was my birthday. The server said they don't do nothing for birthdays but then 5 minutes they were singing happy birthday to someone. Then another 5 mins go past and there singing happy birthday to someone again. So we told them again it was my birthday and they just bought me a cheesecake and still didn't sing to me. The food and service were great, no issues there. My main complaint is they automatically added an 18% tip to the bill for my party of two. Some people may not be bothered by that, but hidden fees are a deal breaker for me. Factor it into the price if you don't want your employees relying on tips. I'd be ecstatic if I were told tips aren't recommended because employees are already paid well, but doing it this way is very disrespectful. They also charge for drink refills.

I don't know why the steak was upcharged, it looked like thinly sliced steak pieces that resembles steak ums, it wasn't thick, nor sliced as steak is sliced. The food came out luke warm. I had not been there in years, Im not sure why people go there for Mexican food because it's trash. I'm sorry but my little niece even played in her food and she doesn't turn down a plate. I tasted my brother's Mexican pizza, that was good (ground beef and shrimp), it was hot and fresh. Margaritas was good. They will not see me again. Born and raised in Los Angeles and when I first moved here I couldn’t find the Mexican food I grew up eating (sorry Chi-chi’s). Was a late afternoon meal but still got two lunch specials. Soft drinks, soup (excellent) enchiladas and two tacos was $28. Fair price for a great meal. Of course they had chips and salsa also. Zero complaints.

No tamales.... The tortillas were dry and not soft .. the sauce or gravy over my pork was terrible and there were fat pieces mixed in... It was yucky...

Great lunch specials. Atmosphere is cozy. Large restaurant that handles a few tables on a cold winter day and a full restaurant with an outside eating area well. Excellent food
