My friend and I went there on October 9, 2025 about 6:30PM. We both ordered steaks and the salad bar. I was very disappointed with the lettuce, as it was stringy and very difficult to eat. What is wrong with good old Iceberg lettuce? I would never order the salad bar again. Also, the cloth napkin is too small, it kept falling off of my lap. Needs to be larger like other restaurants have.
Also, the baked potato was just warm, not hot. The waitress replaced it with a good one.
Finally, my steak (medium) was great, however, my friend had ordered medium well and it came medium rare, so it had to be cooked longer.
For the prices there, there should not be any problems of this nature.

Who runs out of ribs on Sunday at 4:30? Branding Iron is who! Never run out of food on your menu - that’s rule number one! We sat at 4:30 and when we ordered - there was on 1/2 rack left. Why have ribs on a menu then? One…half rack? Congrats on the new ownership, but good luck with longevity with that kind of results. We have spread the word far and wide and hope to keep people from going to a place that has a below average salad bar with stale croutons l, twice baked potatoes in a plastic type container(about a 1/4 potato and no skin) and drinks that are short on the booze part. Save your time and money.

Delicious food! The bartender was great and attentive. My husband got lobster and shrimp which was divine! I got the filet which was super tender and loved the mashed potatoes. We will be back.

Terrible service and terrible food. The staff couldn't acknowledge you while standing in front of 3 servers to get seated with a reservation. We waited patiently for over 10 minutes. The food was a disaster. The waitress once seated again took over 10 minutes to come to our table. Once food came it was a disaster too. We will not be back

Thought I would take a chance as we were in the area camping and enjoy hitting up local supper clubs. Walking in is confusing as you walk into the bar area not knowing where to go to check in. Finally figured it out as I had a reservation I called in earlier in the week. We were escorted to our table as seating is very tight and squeezing between chairs to walk in and out. We had a young and very nice waitress who I think was overwhelmed by how many tables she had with I think was limited staff. Ordered an old fashion sweet with Southern instead of brandy with olives and my mother in law ordered a cocktail in a tall glass. As we ordered drinks we also ordered appetizers and our main course. Our appetizers came before our drinks and my daughter didn’t get her lemonade until the main course but in a dirty glass that I had to go over to the fountain station and ask for a new drink. I walked back to my table about twenty feet away and they went to wrong table. Needless to say I’m kinda a hard guy to miss at 6’3” 330 with a big beard. Finally our drinks come and mine has oranges cherries and one olive in it. My mother in law gets a short glass instead of the tall. Our appetizers come and we ordered the calamari which were four sticks looking like French fries and tasted like frozen fish sticks. My wife and daughter ordered the chicken noodle soup instead of the salad bar which was very good. Not one noodle in each of their bowls!! More like chicken vegetable soup. For main course I ordered the 18oz prime rib for $45! I get it and there was as much fat as meat while being luke warm. My mother in law ordered same thing and she said it was a cold. The taste and tenderness were good but highly disappointed with the meal for $224!! I still gave our waitress a hefty 20% because I really believed she was doing a good job. Won’t go back.

We and other out of town friends enjoyed a VERY pleasant evening at the Branding Iron. We all tried some unique cocktails that were excellent. I chose the ribeye for dinner. I am very much a steak snob and was prepared to compare Branding Iron’s steak to my favorite mass chain ribeye (Texas Roadhouse). Even though the steak was choice grade, it was EXCELLENT… perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a nice char/crust on the outside. I liked the baked potato and salad bar (you hardly see these anymore). We finished with an outstanding key lime pie…. my only complaint was that the slices were very skimpy. They were only $5 so I ordered a second slice. For an upscale supper club experience we found the prices very reasonable. We will definitely go back to Branding Iron Supper Club, it’s a Wisconsin Rapids treasure!

My family and I have been coming to this establishment for years. We brought my father for a birthday celebration and couldn’t have been more disappointed.

Our server was curt and to the point. No friendly interaction. It took him 17” to bring dinner rolls, which used to be served immediately upon seating. There were four small rolls for four people. Knowing my father loves dinner rolls, I asked for more. “I’ll bring more once you have finished those,” our server responses.

Take note that if you split a meal, you will be charged an additional $15 for the second person to have their own potato selection, dinner roll and trip to the salad bar. In my opinion, the surcharge should have also included cutting the entrée in half and plating both portions on a warm plate. The second person will receive a standard cold dish.

Service between our salad course and main entrée was unusually long. No apology or explanation from our server.

Water refills were consistent. We never had to ask.

We overheard a group of three men say they heard the place was up for sale. Perhaps this explains the change in quality.

Overall, big city prices do not match the quality of food and service.

We brought all concerns to the attention of staff and management at the time of our visit.

We have been dining here for over 10 years when the old owner Sherry had the place. Not too crowded for a Saturday prices went up a lot. Will still eat here but unfortunately not often. I wish the new owners good luck but if at all possible lower prices will bring in more people.

We ate dinner there last night with a group of four me and my wife had the large filet And the other couple had ribeye steaks. Our filets were seasoned very salty And definitely not medium rare. The ribeyes were thin and sort of taste tasteless The service was excellent the drinks were excellent at the bar the salad bar was decent but not what it used to be we all hated the cheesy potatoes but it’s typically I will re-review within six months and give an updated review

Bar was on pointe. Unusual and delicious drinks and helpful and personable service. Decor was so cozy and pretty. I wish the salad bar was more extensive. I was missing more kinds of veggies, and fake bacon bits are not in line with what they are going for. My prime rib was a little undercooked and bland. My husband's had great flavor however. The menu has lots of choices. We'll try this again.

Highly recommed if you havent tried since new ownership took over. Stopped in last Sunday with my wife. I just want to start by saying they have very friendly staff and the owners were the same. Very personable down to earth people. The drink choices were fun and very good. The soup and salad bar were good and the dinner was amazing. My wife and I both got cheesy mashed potatoes that we loved. My wife really enjoyed her prime rib and my new york strip was amazing as well. The char to the outside of the steak was a really nice touch! We will be back some time soon for the patio during warmer weather. It was well worth the over hour drive we had to get there.

Saturday night with my parents and we decided on the Branding Iron. It was our first try with the new owners. We made a reservation but arrived about an hour early for drinks and we were able to sit at the bar. The Old Fashioned and dirty martini were on point. Maybe add a few more Rye selections Dad didn't care for the only option. My parents had the filets and I had the prime rib. All were cooked perfectly and the salad bar was great as well. We'll definitely be back. 🥃🍸

They told us it would be a 40 minute wait, turned out to be 1hr 20 minutes stuck in the bar waiting and we dont drink. finally got seated, and the tables were so close together it felt cramped and uncomfortable. Had trouble reading the menu because the lighting is so poor, had to use the flashlight on my phone to see menu, and we noticed we were not the only ones doing it. When we received our food most items we ordered were over cooked...very rare is not grey.....did not receive our beverages until we were halfway through meal. Biggest complaint was that almost everything they served us was so salty it was barely edible. This place used to be a lot better, not sure what happened, but at these prices (we spent over $250.00) we expected much better. We will not be back.

Had the prime rib tonight, it was terrible. We were not the only ones that are giving our expensive leftovers to the dogs. My wife had shrimp and lobster, the lobster was overcooked. Not even edible. After looking at multiple supper clubs from the Dells to Wis Rapids, we chose here for our 20th anniversary dinner. Not disappointed. We had calamari, ribeyes w/scallops and mushrooms, blueberry cheesecake. Everything was very good. The only thing I recommend to the owners is to look into a key lime tarter or remoulade for the calamari, and small bowls of. The blueberries on the cheesecake were poppin' with amazing flavor!

I don't think I ever been so heart broken. Found this place in 2023, and have been back 3 times in 2024. Today is 09/21/2024. I will not be coming back. Wait time is beyond ridiculous. We got here at 5 and are now leaving at 845. Understand popular place, foods been amazing. However food is definitely subpar, what the hell did you do to your cheesy mash (gross now). Hour wait to be seated. 1 1/2 hours sitting waiting for are entrees to come out. 2 of the parties four steaks way over cooked (absolutely stunned, every other time cooked to absolute perfection. Then the price hike 4 people 250+, same group same meal 07/20/2014 180.00..... no you lost my business, way to much for what your providing. Still left your waitress one hell of a tip. Unfortunately it will be last I give to this establishment. RUINED!

I went for the reopening weekend. I love the outdoor atmosphere! The waterfall and little pond is beautiful, and I enjoyed seeing fresh herb plant stands. It was decorated so cute for fall with mums and cornstalks everywhere. The inside smelled so good like apple cider too! You can tell the new owners put a lot of love into making this a quaint little hangout. The live music was a great touch and it wasn't too loud - perfect for the outside patio. The menu looks diverse with a big variety of specialty foods and drinks. I had the coconut shrimp and salad bar and they were delicious! I'm looking forward to going back without kiddos and trying the drinks next time 😁 Friendly staff and overall pleasant experience!

Traditional supper club with excellent food and service. Had the prime rib and it was done to perfection. Cindy was our host and was delightful and a professional front to back . It was a little slow to get drinks at the bar but they were pretty busy so not a huge deal. Overall I would definitely recommend them if you have an itch for prime rib.

We were here for the 1st time on Saturday. We sat at the bar ordered drinks and was never told anything about checking in. Finally we get asked if we were checked in and said no. So we got put on the list. About 10 min later some what I would say were regulars come in and sat next to us. Never saw them get on the list but a waitress came out and took there order before they took ours. Wasnt happy about that but then the bartender noticed that and must have said something to the waitress because she came back and took our order. I wanted to try a scallop but I never had one before and to be honest didn't know what one was so I asked the waitress what a scallop was and she didn't know. She asked the bartender and she didn't know either. The waitress did ask the chef what it was and informed me when we finally got seated. The salad bar was ok. The prime was good. But we both had the cheddar mashed potatoes and I was shocked that they came out in a small bowl and it looked like they use a lage ice cream scooper to dish them up. Next time in the area we will be trying a different supper club.

Love! I am so happy we were able to stop in for dinner on a visit to the area last week. It was one of our favorite places when we lived there for years. First got there parked in handicap spot, and No access to get in. All stairs, so we had help but we got the disabled person in. Then you sit at the bar , give your order then wait to be seated. The food.. I had the Prime rib, no flavor at all, and please don't eat the cheesy potatoes just awful instant potatoes with powder cheese in it. All in All my family and I will never go there again. And for just 3 of us it was 130.00

There was a lot left to be desired! The place was dusty and dark, the server oddly asked us to order well before being seated and didn’t ask about drinks or anything, the wait was over 45 minutes, but most importantly, the food was terrible! The salad bar was less than stellar - just lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese along side weird potato and pasta salads. The meat options… absolutely no flavor. Like none. Not one of us out of 6 were satisfied. So disappointing for and frankly disgraceful for the price. Please don’t waste you time or money.

There is a lot to like about this place - friendly service, great atmosphere, well prepared cocktails and meat items.

However, there are few negatives I hope they’d consider changing - 1) given that everyone is asked to order while sitting at the bar (which is great in a way that is so Wisconsin), cash-only at the bar area is quite puzzling. In fact, if it wasn’t cash-only I would’ve ordered more drinks for my party; 2) salad bar could use few more fresh items without mayo. The menu indicates salad bar as a standalone item would be $15. My bet is that every item on the bar can be bought for $15. 3) seafood items from shrimps to scallops were simply awful especially at that price point. Two people at our table did not finish their shrimps at the end of the meal and only ate their steaks.

I really want to like this place. But at near $100 per person with cocktails, it is difficult to justify the cost given the quality issues.

It has been a few years since we have dined at Branding Iron and we were looking forward to our meal there. All servers were wonderful. The facility was cold, many guests were eating with coats on including myself. The decor is relaxing and tastefully done. We enjoyed our drinks and the salad bar was good. The entree was average at best in regard to flavor and presentation. I felt the price was high for the quality of food received.

We went for dinner during the week and had a fantastic meal. Everything was a nicely portioned and cooked well. The atmosphere was classic supper club including a salad bar. Our waitress even left a water carafe on our table so we wouldn’t have to ask for refills. My only minor complaint was the salad dressing. We got only a small plastic cup which was a little cheap. We will definitely be coming back.

Was not impressed with this place. For starters it’s a cash only bar and you can not add it to your food bill. We got seated and had the salad bar for our side, and I must say that was a very disappointing and limited salad bar. Then we received our food and the steaks were very bland and not seasoned. The salad bar and drinks were awesome! I got a lemon drop martini and it was so delicious I had to have 2! I ordered steak and lobster tail. Came out looking delicious! Cut of meat was beautiful! Sadly, the steak and lobster tail were flavorless. Husband also got a steak which needed flavor! After our meal we finished our drinks at the bar. The woman behind the bar was very friendly. Talked to her alittle bit and she said due to gluten issues with herself and customers you have to ask for them to season it, then they would season it for you. Was alittle shocked we have to ask for seasons on our food but we will be back and try again. This time will ask for seasons.

This may have just been an off evening.

Atmosphere:
First off we walked in and everyone just stares at you which is not the businesses fault whatsoever, it just made it uncomfortable. Us three girls sat at the bar ordered an old fashioned which were good. As we waited to order our food we asked the couple next to us to take a photo of us. The guy was super nice but the women bartender said to his wife/girlfriend that we are drunk after we asked her to take our picture first. Just would like to note that we had two old fashioneds after we just drove almost three hours to get there for our girls weekend. We all three are in the service industry and it was just rude, even though we can take sarcasm pretty well being bartenders ourselves. It’s just really unfortunate because we love to take care of bartenders that take care of us. I think she judged to quickly and that’s just sad. Then, we sat down for dinner it was like walking into a funeral home, sooooooooo quiet. If you laughed you were stared at so that’s just uncomfortable. We honestly should have just sat in the gorgeous patio area. Now, that was something beautiful and felt way more welcoming. Just the inside supper club vibes were off.

Food:
I had the ribs and they accommodated for stuffed shrimp with my ribs with the combination dinner which was amazing. Plus, our server was just the kindest women I think I ever met. I’d love to note she was great and working so hard - wish I had her name! My two friends had the tenderloin and we’d have to echo the same as another review that there isn’t much flavor. I wouldn’t recommend the twice baked potatoes, they aren’t the greatest but also not the worst. The baked potato, stuffed shrimp and ribs were spot on though!

Not sure if we would ever make an effort to go back. Like I said, we all have our off nights and that could have just been this. I hate giving reviews like this because of one employee too, sad.

PS, if you love ribs like I do, get these. They are fall off the bone deliciousness.

We dined as an extended family of 8 with 3 kids and 5 adults. Kids menu delivered with plenty of options at a good price. The adults all ordered seafood. The perch was exceptional, lightly breaded, generous portion of small pieces which curled when fried as desired. The walleye was also very good, as were the scallops which were cooked to perfection; tender and flavorful. An overall excellent experience.

The place is cute! Their set up was a little different as far as ordering at the bar and then being seated, but to each their own. It worked just fine. Thought it was a little odd that the salad dressing wasn’t at the salad bar, but no big deal!

We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I wouldn’t get them again but weren’t awful, just weren’t what we were expecting. They were more of a wonton/egg roll with string cheese on the inside.

I did appreciate that they were able to accommodate me wanting shrimp with my ribeye! However the steak, although cooked nearly perfect, has absolutely no seasoning or flavor. Was very disappointing. The three other people I was with also got a steak, all of which they said had no flavor. For that price I was expecting more. :(

But the supper club vibe was there! Overall wasn’t a terrible experience, just will not be going back unfortunately.

This was my first time here with my wife. I had the deepfried walleye and a lobster tail. It came with a side of creamy coleslaw and some baked beans. The fish was absolutely delicious and the lobster was juicy. My wife got a medium steak. . She fell in love with the steak first bite. She also had the salad bar. The salad bar had a good selection of salads and sides. We will definitely be back.

Where do I start? I ordered a whiskey old fashioned sour, and was disappointed that it cost a supper club premium for dive bar quality.

The steaks were pretty bland, especially for the cost.

The waitstaff was really good though.

Overall a good experience. Plenty of parking even for larger vehicles. Place kept in good shape inside and out. Extremely friendly and curious staff. My walleye was average. Second individual got a well done steak when asked medium rare. Third order prime rib and said that it was good. Fourth order lobster and stated that was really good.

I came here as a direct result of The Cobblestone's recommendation. I am so glad I did! A bit unconventional. You order at the bar and are seated and served after you order. Each and every member of this team cares about YOU the customer! The food was excellent! I had a large rib eye grilled exactly how I ordered it and batter fried shrimp that were amazing! The cheesy mashed potatoes and cheese and broccoli soup were all fantastic too. But, seriously, no matter how good the food was, the service was better! If you find yourself in Wisconsin Rapids you must try The Branding Iron Supper Club right on Hwy. 13! You will be glad you did

My hubby and I hardly splurge and go out to supper. That being said, we went back to the Branding Iron because our 2 other experiences were pretty good. Tonight, totally different story. We were early so we went to the bar and ordered 1 drink each. Waitress took our order . We both were done with our drinks and the blond bar tender told us we could go to our assigned table. Hubby stayed back to settle up our 1 drink each bill while I went to our table. Then hubby took a bit but when he joined me at our table he had 2 new drinks with him. He never even asked for 2 more..yet blond poured 2 more THEN gave him his bar bill. Ok, we thought, ok, that she was busy and just thought we needed 2 more.,,??
We then went to salad bar which didn’t have very many options.. but it’s a salad so eh? Ok.
I had ordered tenderloin and lobster. (Like I said we hardly go out so this was supposed to be a treat. Our meal came and looked pretty good. His steak and mine were then same shape so that was weird.. the lobster had zero flavor if I didn’t put gobs of butter on it, my steak had the same; no flavor whatsoever. We spent a lot of money on two meals that felt like they were generated from a cheap vendor. This meal (meat) was not like they were in the past. Very disappointed. Our waitress was at the mercy of the chef and the blond bar lady that takes care of the bill. I went to the car while hubby had to pay bill at a busy bar. Let me tell ya, you can wait a century to pay the bill when bar customers come first.. hubby waited 20 minutes to pay our bill..
needless to say we won’t be back ever. We will drive the extra miles to Savory Steaks to have a great meal.
