The best breakfast food that I’ve ever had! No exaggeration. The iced latte has a rich and balanced flavor. I decided on French toast, but couldn’t decide between Strawberry Shortcake or Blueberry Cobbler. Got both instead! The bread is made in house and is out of this world. Holy Moly… what a 5 Star experience all around!
The hosts were very friendly and quick, the server, Faith, was very accommodating!
My fiancée has Celiac Disease and the menu was marked very well with many options to choose from, including Dessert.
The server was very knowledgeable about their GF options.
This place is very clean, knowledgeable, aware, friendly and in my opinion.. the price is fair for how this establishment carries themselves.

Just ok. I heard a lot of great things about this place so I had really high expectations. We came around 2pm so there was not a
wait. The restaurant itself is super charming and cute! We were greeted timely but then sat at a very obviously still dirty table. We asked to have it cleaned and it was hastily wiped which at least took care of the syrup. We split the salmon eggs benedict to start. Rather disappointing. There was really no good flavor and everything was mushy. My husband had the burger and fries and those were fantastic. The waitress recommended the cobb salad to me. The salad was nice to look at but again was rather bland. Overall, just ok. We will have to come back and try some other menu options.

Breakfast Bear in Wausau is such a gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with simple, minimal décor that feels refreshing and not overwhelming. The place is spotless, and the service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. I absolutely loved the freshly squeezed orange juice—it tasted so bright and fresh. Driving through on a long weekend vacation, we stopped here as a random pick when the place we wanted to go to was closed. I'm so glad our first pick was closed! I don’t know why these other reviews are so picky… the food here is PHENOMENAL. I got the biscuits and gravy and my husband had the eggs Benedict flight. Through the whole meal, we couldn’t stop raving about how got it was! The gravy on the biscuits and gravy was so savory and the chicken was so juicy. The bacon jam on the eggs Benedict was delicious. I also had the iced blueberry pancake latte and that was amazing. Ignore the complaints. Come see for yourself.

We had breakfast with family here recently. It has a nice spacious open feel, soft booths so the kids can easily eat without hurting themselves. The decor is nice and modern with soft little quirky touches (ie Bear in chair suspended from ceiling). Staff did a great job. The food was overall pretty great. I wasn’t a fan of the amount of caramel on my Dutch baby (my husband also said the sauce in his Bananas Foster French Toast was a little too much) and that the whipped topping was Cool Whip vs real cream, but now I know. Outside of that-the coffee, eggs, breakfast meats, and pancakes, French toast, etc. were all good. The fresh fruit was a very nice touch-it wasn’t just unripe melon like many restaurants have, it was a mix of berries, bananas and green grapes. I would definitely go again, but might ask for very light sauce (or on the side) if I order pancakes, French toast, etc.

This was a wonderful choice for brunch today! We got here around 11:35, and only had a 25 minute wait. They were very accommodating with food restrictions and substituted vegetarian sausage for bacon on the Heirloom Honey Bear and did not charge extra for the substitution! Absolutely fantastic! I'm generally on a budget, but the food and service were worth the splurge. I had a caramel macchiato and the Granite Crunch French Toast and both were just what I wanted (if I had to quibble, I do wish the coffee cup was a little bigger). We had an attentive server who checked in just the right amount, which seemed crazy to be able to achieve given how packed it was-yet we didn't have a wait to be seated. A friend was warned about the 15-20 min. wait for the Dutch baby and it came in the blink of an eye (if you go to Walker Bros. down in the Chicago suburbs the menu warns of a **40** min. wait for one)! Will absolutely be back if we're ever in the area again (hopefully next year)!

We stopped here for my daughter's birthday breakfast. I saw that they had 4+ stars on Google so I trusted that. We got seated and our server brought us waters. I saw the menu and I was a little surprised by the prices. Fast forward, my daughter was brought a free cinnamon roll for her birthday, she ordered French toast, I got an omelet with hashbrowns and pancakes, and my son got a skillet. I am not lying when I say that everything I tried was phenomenal. I've never had a better breakfast. Even the pancakes (which I am not a huge fan of pancakes cus they get soggy faster than waffles or french toast) were cooked to perfection where they didn't get soggy and the flavor was out of this world amazing. Everything was 100% so tasty. For the 3 of us it ended up being $50 (no drinks) but in the end it was worth it. Best breakfast I've ever had in my life.

This was our first time at Breakfast Bear, and unfortunately, it’ll likely be our last.

We ordered the Spicy Vegan Bowl, and while it looked amazing on the plate, the experience went downhill fast. Everything in the bowl was mushy and completely bland. The vegan sausage was wet and soggy, the tofu was soft and flavorless, and the potatoes, spinach, and mushrooms just added more mush. No seasoning. No contrast. Just a pile of textureless food.

We both sent our bowls back, and before we could even explain, our waitress (who was very sweet and professional) already knew the issue—“too mushy?” That alone says a lot. I also ordered fries just to try to salvage the meal, but they were completely inedible too. They tasted like corn tortillas, and the waitress confirmed they’re fried in the same oil. That’s careless and unacceptable.

The most disappointing part? No manager ever came to the table—not to ask what went wrong, not to apologize, not to do anything. For a first-time guest clearly sending food back untouched, that lack of accountability sealed the experience for us.

The biscuit and short stack of French toast were the only bright spots, and the bartender made a good drink—but that’s not enough to make up for a ruined meal.

We left hungry, frustrated, and ended up cooking at home. If you’re vegan or care about flavor, texture, or basic service, skip this place. Looks aren’t everything—and in this case, they were the only thing.

I was in town visiting my sister and took mom to breakfast. My mom ordered some chilaquiles, but it was lacking structure. There was a layer of potatos (not needed) when the main filling are tortilla chips. Then the green sauce was under the tortilla chips which made the chips to be dry. The birria meat lack flavor and was kind of dry.
I ordered the farmers meat and only had two engs, 2 small pieces of ham and 2 pieces of bacon with sugar...bacon was very dry...and a few house potatos.

Not only is the food amazing, so are the staff. My son dropped his pancake and was super sad. Our waitress got him a whole new one and even cut it up for him. I had gone to the bathroom when it happened and my son was with my disabled grandma at the table. I was so embarrassed but she was kind and really supportive. Being a single mom is tough and it’s not easy to go out to eat. She assured me it’s fine and made it possible for me to enjoy meal out, which is so rare in this season of my life. This is my third visit. We always stop now when I come to town to visit family. Food is 10/10. I love the coffee too! I wish I knew her name so I could directly mention her. Our ticket was #66 if this helps identify her and give her credit where it is due. She truly went above and beyond to be kind and accommodating.

Wow! I went to the Breakfast Bear expecting just another greasy spoon diner in WI. Not true! They take diner classics and elevate them. I had the Honey Bear Omelette with pancakes. I could taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. It was obvious that the owners take pride on their work - and that translates to the ambiance and food. The menu is Wisconsinite friendly. Very tasty Wisconsin omelette with Gouda hashbrowns for my bf, and I had the chicken and waffles. I liked the dish, but I think the jam was too sweet and earthy for me. It came with berries as well which is a different take on a chicken and waffle dish. I was 54yrs old when I came across the best place for breakfast to ever have existed. 8 star rating out of 5, lol.
You can really tell there's a passion for food here. Definitely worth the 45min ride and I'll be back to try so many other things on the menu that sounded excellent.

This place is amazing. Great atmosphere, employees were friendly and food was delicious. I got the Classic Eggs Benny and it did not disappoint. Presentation was great and tasted great. I will definitely be back and I will be telling everyone about this amazing restaurant.

Very disappointed in the food. Ordered the smoked salmon and you only get a very thin piece of salmon. The birria taco breakfast was nothing more than a blah chuckroast without any flavor. We also had a very over cooked oven pancake. Our bill was $106 for four people and truly wasn't up to par for that price.

First time here!!! Amazing food!!! I was so happy to see gluten free options and everything was phenomenal. My gluten free bread was like the size of regular bread and delicious. Our waitress was amazing!!! Thanks for a great breakfast and an awesome waitress. We'll definitely be back.

just finishing up a "brunch" at the BEAR. the food was delicious and the presentation was perfect. hats off to the cook. our waitress was extremely nice, energetic, positive, and helpful. Great job Bianca!!! my favorite thing was the coffee. Lavassa is perhaps the best coffee I may have ever had. Definitely will be a repeat customer here.

Had the “Hamlet” ham and cheese omelet with the pancakes upgraded with apples and caramel sauce. What a delight! Great food and the service was spot on! Beautiful presentation of the cakes. Definitely worth a stop!

The first thought I had was "Starbucks of Restaurants." The atmosphere is a mix between lumberjack and modern. Two of the people with me ordered hot chocolate, and we are pretty sure they were made with the expresso chocolate. The staff were friendly and attentive. The steak, which I only had a bite of, was amazing. We think that they might marinade them. The bacon is great with just enough pepper and sugar to balance each out. The potatoes, though, nobody enjoyed. They almost seemed undercooked.

Baby Dutch, all you can taste on the dish were onions! Unedible.The onions were big chunks parboiled (not caramelized onions, as described on the menu )under the fried egg a broken sauce with partially emulsified butter that covered some pieces of greasy ham, finally in the middle of the salty pancake a pond of grease/ju combination of the butter, ham and onions, The leeks overfried, greasy all over the dish looked like hay spread.
The raspberry iced tea,watery.
Hash browns undercooked.
I've had read good reviews but a big disappointment!

This is a little breakfast/ brunch restaurant that we stumbled upon while trying to find a safe place to wait out a snowstorm.
The hospitality was extraordinary. The server was very friendly, cheerful, and attentive. My coffee cup was never empty, and the cuisine was outstanding. We will definitely be going back whenever we travel through the Wausau, Wisconsin area.
I don't remember the name of the young , red-haired lady who was our server, but her service was over and above any other server I can remember ever having. Such dedication. Such attentiveness. Such a sweet disposition. Such a fabulous aptitude and work ethic. So polite and engaging.
She is definitely a strong asset and valuable employee that makes this restaurant stand out from the competition. Well done !!
