First time dining here and very happy with choosing Buck and Honeys. Excellent service and great food. The prime rib was very good and the Korean bowl was an amazing blend of flavors. Appetizers were very good as well, we got the BH sampler, the bacon wrapped dates were amazing.

This place usually doesn’t disappoint, but it has its ups and downs. The first time I visited for a birthday party, the server was kind but overwhelmed — drinks took a long time and some orders were mixed up. Since then, on smaller visits, service has generally been better.

The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps are my go-to appetizer here, and the Bacon Wrapped Dates stuffed with goat cheese and almonds are also excellent. I’ve also tried the French Onion Soup, which was just okay, and the Seared Ahi Salad, which I would not recommend — it was terrible. One of the bowls I tried was fine, but nothing memorable. When I come here now, I stick with the appetizers.

The bartenders are friendly and easy to talk to, and the general manager is always nice and welcoming. The event manager, on the other hand, has come across as rude on multiple occasions, which takes away from the overall experience.

So while Buck & Honey’s has some very good dishes (especially appetizers) and friendly staff at the bar, there are definitely some items and experiences I would avoid.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception and it was beautiful! Valerie and all of the staff were excellent. The venue is gorgeous, and is suited to events up to 150 people, which is how large our wedding was. Beyond that I think it would be a bit crowded. My 3 bridesmaids and I were also able to get ready on location. The bridal suite was perfect for our group size as well. We ordered food and drinks at the bar while we were getting ready and had an excellent server during that time. Great venue, great food, great drinks!

Really great options and all very tasty. I got a Buddha bowl, my husband got the streak salad, and my kids got pizza and Mac n cheese. All were delicious and fresh. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try! We had a wonderful server who was very attentive. Everything was great!

It is also next to a bike trail, which now I have to try. Next time we’re out here to bike/run the trail we’ll stop by again and try something else from the menu. Definitely my kind of place.

The food, service, and atmosphere was excellent except for the noise. I would guess that approximately 25% of the tables or less were occupied. I was disappointed in the amount of noise bouncing around the room. We had great pan fried walleye and stuffed chicken breast. Green beans and garlic mashed potatoes were great sides. Martinson Hall was a lovely venue for our wedding reception! The ambience is fabulous with the brick, windows, lighting, and balcony. Valerie was so helpful as we coordinated all of the details together, like the table layout. I'm glad catering was so easy with Buck & Honey's downstairs, and we had so many people tell us how amazing the food was, especially the bacon-wrapped dates. The bartenders did an amazing job with everything, including our signature drinks. So much went into planning the reception that I would've been okay with something going wrong at some point, but I can't think of anything that did!

Phenomenal. My husband and I’s first date four years ago was to the Monona location and we’ve gone there ever since for each anniversary — now it is our first wedding anniversary and we decided to branch out to the Mount Horeb location. Couldn’t have been a better choice! The staff are all so bubbly and kind, very careful in their work — Grace, our server was absolutely wonderful! Such a joy to have with us to celebrate tonight despite being here since 10am! Amazing! Thank you big time, Grace!
The food was GREAT! We order the same thing each every time, and I have to say — the quality was even better than we are accustomed to at the Monona location, the portions are literally double… for the same price! Heck yeah!

It was a Monday in Mount Horeb so the normal places we get wings were closed. My wife really wanted wings for lunch and it was her bday.

Got the food and drinks promptly. I brought up the fact that it was her bday.

Without missing a beat our waitress wished her a happy bday and scampered away only to comeback less than 5 minutes later with a big plate of brownies/ice cream and 2 glasses of bubbly wine.

Server hadn't a clue what he was doing. Never came back to check on us or offer refill of water or soda. I asked for a straw. Handed me one with bare hands, not even with a paper napkin. Same when I asked for a spoon. Food took over 30 minutes to prepare but it was worth the wait. Server needs more training on sanitary conditions and checking on customers.

Ate here on a Monday evening, was sat and waited on immediately. Got an Old Fashioned and an NA rosé with an order of cheese curds. All were fantastic! For our entrees, we had the Thai Chicken rice bowl and the tacos with firecracker shrimp with a side of their French fry dippers. The flavors were amazing and the fries were uniquely shaped to better dip into sauces.

Our service was impeccable on this visit. The bartender was the one waiting on us, though we weren't seated at the bar. He was charismatic and attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely recommend this spot!

This was a good restaurant I went to for lunch. The food options were good and they had a variety of different types of styles of food (tacos, Asian salads, etc) The service was very slow though. I will credit the restaurant to the large table they had as well. I believe it was around 24. It tied up their staff for sure. I'll be back though to try on hopefully a time that is not as busy. We were coming from Cave of the Mounds and wanted to grab an early dinner before going back to our hotel in Madison. So glad we found this place. We went in around 4pm and there was only 1 other table at the time. Service was fast & friendly. I had the best honey martini I've ever had. It was sweet and I had to slow down because it was so good I started to drink it too fast. The food came out quickly. The bacon wrapped dates were perfect. The rest of the food was standard as far as taste. Presentation was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the meatloaf being a square slice with fried onions on top rather than a rectangular clump that most places serve. Don't know when we'll be back that way, but we'd definitely make the drive if we were near the area.

My son and daughter in law had their wedding ceremony and reception there. Oh my goodness it was over the top beautiful! The food was top tier ( and I am super picky about quality). The staff were on point and service was perfection 👌 I had people actually come up to me and say they never saw a dirty plate anywhere. The guests never had to wait for any service at all. The bridal suite was adorable. The communication was so easy and questions were promptly answered. In the whole madison area this would be my number 1 venue recommendation. Great experience overall! I went in by myself for brunch on a random Saturday. I admitted I was celebrating a small win for myself before celebrating my friend's wedding later that day. I was just by myself - 1 top - and I was treated like royalty. I always had what I needed. I was given great recommendations. The food was excellent. Try the bagel sandwich for brunch! Funny enough, they were catering the wedding event later that night! The food was even better then :)

Edit: forgot to add! Restaurants love saying "fresh fruit" when it never really is. The server said she saw the kitchen cutting fruit for my order and I could tell she was not lying! So so good!!

My friend is a traveling store manager for a large grocery store brand so I was in Platteville, Wisconsin to celebrate their birthday. The town is nice but no real options worth sitting down to celebrate a birthday - hence how we came upon this gem. It was about a 45min drive out and worth every bit of it.

Upon entering the town itself you were being dealt vibes and that just carried over into entering the location. Once seated I can't lie; I was bit skeptic about what I just signed us up for since the menu is eclectic - a little bit of everything (American, Thai, Soul/Creole).

We started with drinks - I can't remember what we had but I guarantee you they were bussing. Food wise; we started with their firecracker shrimp. It was at this moment I knew that my white cousins knew their way around the kitchen. This appetizer could stand on its own but they weren't done snapping just yet.

For the main course I had their stuffed chicken breast; which was breaded and accompanied by a la a country gravy, mac and cheese and broccolini. My friend has Cajun Pasta.

We tasted each other's meals and agreed: fresh, favorable and fulfilling.

I gave them 5 stars in every department. I'm not sure what would put someone in this hidden gem of a town but if you're close by you have to stop and eat here.

The family was there for Easter Brunch. The place was packed and a bit noisy, but calmed down as the crowd worked thru. I love the rustic warehouse look of this old building. Pictures of the building’s history are found throughout the restaurant. It is just so cozy. A great place to just hang out at the bar and watch a game or casually sit and have dinner.
The B&H Sampler is a nice medley of various apps: cheese curds, firecracker shrimp, and bacon wrapped dates. My fav is the shrimp….give me that all day. Just the right spicy coating with a delicate crunch.
The Southwest Benedict had the subtle flavors of the Southwest. The chipotle hollandaise was only mildly spicy. The poached eggs were perfectly complemented by the creamy avocados and the buttery toasted crunch from the croissants. A filling breakfast.
My wife was enjoying the strawberry crepes. Light and sweet mascarpone filling with orange grand marnier sauce completes this perfect spring brunch dish.
Rounding out the whole Easter brunch experience was the Mimosa Flight.
This was our first brunch at B&H, but it is now the first of many.

If I could give a ZERO I would!! This place is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The hostess was one of the most unprofessional people I've ever had to deal with. We were 1 of our servers 2 tables. Not busy at all!! No excuses for service this bad!! Took 15 minutes to get our drinks, & when our food finally came, She never checked on us, took 20 minutes for a soda refill an she had to be told twice. Also she had to be told 3 times for boxes!! Then she took 24 minutes to bring our bills, an still got them wrong 5 TIMES!!!! YES 5 times!! We asked for a manager when our bills were continuing to be wrong, The hostess then walked to the table an says to us "what's up?" Unbelievable!!! I told her to go get a manager, she gets the manager, walks to the kitchen door turns around laughs at me then flips her ponytail an walks in the kitchen. The disrespect from this place is disgusting!!
I will tell everyone I know how disrespectful an unprofessional your MT. HOREB restaurant is!!! You truly need a new staff!! Also BEWARE, THEY add 20% gratuity on your bill for you. Went here for a nice Valentine's Day dinner. While I'm very picky about where I get seafood (I grew up on the coast in California), I was feeling optimistic about the place. Where I have run into problems is with carry out orders. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE! Nothing worse then getting home and missing an entrée. We have had two cases where food items are missing after returning home. Other family/ friends have had the same issues so it’s definitely a common problem.

I found myself staying in Mt. Horeb, WI and knew nothing of the town. I learned through search that it has a higher than average number of high end restaurants, so making a choice was a challenge because I am not a high end restaurant kind of guy. I settled on Buck & Honey's mainly because they had some reasonable menu items and I love a good Old Fashioned, which they had highlighted on their menu. I got there early, like right at 5pm, and it was empty, so I was a little concerned. But I was by myself and decided to eat at the bar. There was another couple there and 2 others, but really that was it. I had the salmon plank with rice and asparagus. It was very good, I would have it again for sure. The bartender, Scott, was really friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. He was attentive, made sure I was taken care of, and I really had a pleasant evening there. By the time I left, about 6:30pm, it was pretty busy, most of the tables had people and the bar area was hoping. I did have 2 drinks, so my bill ended up being more, but the Salmon was really good and reasonable. And yes, that is bacon hanging over my drink.

We had our holiday party (we do it in February, but still call it a holiday party) in the Marinson Hall on the upper level. From start to finish, the staff and place were amazing. Valerie was on top of everything. It was so easy picking appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We like to think we're pretty simple and all we need is a bar and good food and they delivered X100. The food was excellent and our bartender Lisa was amazing. If she needed to step away to grab something, she communicated and made sure everyone had a drink before she left. It was just an overall easy experience and we will be planning our party to be at Buck and Honey's next year if they'll have us :)

This place nailed every aspect of the perfect restaurant experience. The food was creative and executed perfectly. The atmosphere is warm and modern with great music. Exceptionally clean. The drinks were delicious!

But the most important and best part of our experience was our server- Krystal. My daughter and I were visiting from Florida and had been traveling since 4 am. She immediately put in an order of cheese curds for us. She was so kind and attentive to my family throughout our entire meal. Then at the end, she brought us ice cream and brownies as a welcome treat to Wisconsin.

It’s apparent the owners take pride in their restaurant. I’m not sure when we’ll be back to visit but when we do, we’re heading straight to the B&H for ribs and hopefully Krystal will be running the place as manager since she is the most warm, kind, and welcoming server and knows what phenomenal customer service is 🤍

We had our wedding at Martinson Hall at Buck & Honey's Mount Horeb. The space is gorgeous - multiple of our guests have commented how perfect the space was. Valerie was super helpful and aways willing to answer any of my questions! She helped us navigate the logistics of having our wedding on the same day as the Mount Horeb Fall festival- going above and beyond to work with the city to make sure the live band for the festival wrapped up in time for when we planned on having our ceremony. The food was delicious and all the staff were very friendly. If you are looking for a venue close to Madison with a small town feel, I can't recommend them enough!

Loved the rum cake tonight! Don't let anyone tell you to use less rum. It's perfect as it is, and just like my mom used to make. The small side of cream really enhanced the dish. I got fish and chips, it was quite good, and I was happy you had malt vinegar. Husband's halibut dish was great.

Excellent food. Great drinks. Very relaxed atmosphere. Saw some kids dressed up for homecoming. The cheese curds are very good. The wagyu burger was very good with the pretzel bun. The Korean bowl was very good. The seared ahi tuna salad was excellent as well. Kind of pricey but worth it.

What a disappointment. Husband and I were on vacation and choose this as our one "expensive" dinner. We didn't mind the prices but the food was awful. Our waitress was sweet but maybe new? I asked for a "fruity" moscoe mule. She left and came back with the menu showing me a lemongrass mule that was on the non alcoholic menu but said they could make it as a regular mule too. I ordered that. When it came it was non alcoholic. Fine, but I would never have ordered a $8 non alcoholic drink. My husband got the ribeye I got the fillet mignon. Our order took awhile to come out they said because they over cooked his and had to redo it. (They gave us 15% off because of that) no problem. When the did come out,his was 14oz and about 8oz was pure inedible fat/gristle. The other half he could eat was so bland he had to add a ton of pepper. Also, we had to cut our steaks with butter knives because no steak knives are provided.My steak was way over cooked. I still ate it but it had no flavor. These both were $48 steaks each. You can tell they order the cheapest steaks possible, which is fine but don't charge $48 for them then.I wouldn't eat there again even if it was free. Atmosphere reminded me of a chain restaurant like Applebee's. Baked French onion soup was the best part of the meal.

Lovely spot! We had been meaning to try this place for a long time as I’ve heard many good things, and it didn’t disappoint! We had the appetizer platter (the stuffed dates were so good, I’m not usually a goat cheese fan but they used the perfect amount!) and dessert was delicious. I also LOVED the espresso martini! We just stopped for a quick bite and plan to head back for a full meal.

We always have a great experience here at buck and honey's in Mount Horeb. The entire staff is always friendly and welcoming, the service is always spot on, and the food and drinks are always great. It's hard for us to pass through Mount Horeb and not stop in for either drinks or a great meal.

The prices were way too high. I had elk sliders (considered an appetizer). There were 3 for $18. They tasted like basic meatloaf in a bun . I also ordered a side of wild rice for $5. It consisted of 90% brown rice and 10% actual wild rice. It's deceiving to sell it as wild rice. I asked if I could have fries instead. The server was very nice and accommodating. The fries were ok. Nothing special. My wife had a 3-piece fried cod dinner.The potatoes that came with it were very good, but the fish was a bit disappointing. $22 for a below average fish fry is way too much. I don't see any reason to return.

Coming in, the front manager held the door open for me. I was immediately seated. By the time the server brought my water I was ready to order. Service was fast! I had the meatloaf with garlic potatoes and green beans. The garlic potatoes were so good! It was beautifully plated. I was able to take some of the meatloaf home. The prices were higher than I expected, but it's clearly a favorite in town because tables filled up quickly for the dinner hour. The manager made the rounds, checking in with people, which I thought was a nice touch.

My girlfriend and I stopped in town for lunch during a long day of hikes in the region, and we wanted to spoil ourselves so we came here to Buck & Honeys.

Our hostess and our waiter, Robert, were fantastic. We asked to sit outside since the weather was beautiful, and our hostess said she'd ask Robert since he was the only server on the clock. Not only did he say yes, he seemed more eager than us to get outside for some sun!

What proceeded was one of the best lunches of my life, the mocktails and bacon-wrapped dates were insanely good. I had the thai chicken bowl and my girlfriend had the buffalo chicken salad. Both were so well made and very satisfying. We finished by treating ourselves to the cheesecake which was delicious.

The atmosphere was nice too! We asked for the sunshade to be extended and it made the patio that much nicer to dine on. We had a view of the bike path so lots of people watching ensued. Plus this place plays some pretty good music.

Robert was the star of the show, just an A+ server in both friendliness, sense of humor, attentiveness, and efficiency. Dude was on his A-game and deserves so much praise. Thank you for elevating the experience!

Ordered the Thai Chicken Bowl, which was fantastic (but cost $23!). Also had their cheesecake flavor of the day, which was also amazing. Overall, it was great food, and our server was amazing. Just be prepared to spend close to $20-$40 a person.
