Overall: Immaculately clean with open kitchen. Incredible food (the local cheeses! Those curds! Wow!) and attentive/fast/friendly service. Accessible (ramp) and kid friendly. Affordable menu and free off-street parking. Cool vibes and atmosphere, with a modern/historical blend (the building was once a buggy factory). Great drinks at good prices. Carnivores love it, but there are many fantastic vegetarian and vegan options that I love. Gluten free options. One of my top three favorite restaurants ever. Highly recommend!
Although I haven't been to Monroe in some time, I always make a point to eat at Buggyworks when I am there. I'm going soon with friends, so I looked up the current menu and reviews. As a self-proclaimed cheese curd snob, I cannot recommend Buggyworks curds enough. They rival the #1 best Optimist (?) curd stand, that has hour-long lines sometimes during Cheese Days. THEY are THAT GREAT! Buggyworks curds are my #1 in the state at any time the Optimist stand isn't an option.
The food is always fresh and nicely presented. My favorite main dish is the cavitappi (which is a great noodle choice, as it holds onto lots of the delicious sauce). The mac & cheese, green beans and Fitzgibbons salad are also really fantastic. I wish there were even a couple more vegetarian options, but I always want to try more things when the dishes I try are this good.
The staff is welcoming and are genuinely nice people. The place is clean and the kitchen is immaculate and open (right at the center/side of the dining area). You can watch a behind-the-scenes of your food being prepared by the chefs, who seem to work as a team like food creation is a well-choreographed dance: especially fascinating to watch on a busy night.
The history nerd in me also loves the back story about their "Fitzgibbon's" building and the effort that went into researching, displaying and preserving that building history in the restaurant. The atmosphere is really cool and unique. [From what I recall] The Fitzgibbons building that houses Buggyworks was once a buggy (for horses) factory--thus the name, the original old time buggy on display and other buggy-related art, for example. Next to the most tables in the establishment are metal-etched art plaques of various pages from the old buggy factory's catalog (made from the original catalog located at the historical society, I think). There are also framed newspaper articles about a fire at the building 100 years ago, or something (I think some of the exposed brick and wood support beams might still show traces of black soot from that fire.) The owner seems to have gone to great care to preserve some of the history of place, which I find interesting and appreciate. I might have some details wrong, but wanted to add a little about the interesting decor and history, in addition to reviewing the great food. I will be taking friends from out of the area to Monroe to experience Buggyworks very soon. I rarely write reviews; this place deserves that effort though. Highly recommend! (Try the cheese curds, too)

Forgot to leave a review, just left a pic. I haven’t had prime rib in a while so I might be biased. don’t think I could ask for much more from a prime rib. Mashed potatoes are also superb. If I had to criticize maybe the green beans are a little bland but I also enjoyed those.
But very dank overall,
and 4/4 paws from the old dog as well.

We ordered the burger they have entered for the Green Co contest with sides plus a drink. Lucky we checked the order a 2nd time before we got home as they forgot to put on the pork belly jam. Comon it is the contest entrant and they forget the main ingredient! We had to drive all the way back for them to plop a few scoops on the over salted burgers we received. Pretty weak for nearly 50 bucks. Place is normally good so just a bad night probably. 4/5 food 2/5 service
*edit: owner clarified that burger comes with pork belly jam not prime rib or brisket. Owner didn’t apologize for terrible service; just wanted to correct me. I adjusted my review. 1/5 service.

This place use to be a "Go To" for my family and friends to go out for dinner, share some laughs, and make some memories, but I have to say that after the last 3 visits we have made, especially tonight, I am overall disappointed with this restaurant and more than likely not return until the prices change and the quality. No where in the area, unless you are at a supper club are you going to be charged $36 for an underseasoned queen cut prime rib. If you want a good dinning experience, I'd recommend looking elsewhere unless you do not have any other options.

We walked in at 7 pm on a Friday and were told we would have a 15-30 min wait. We were seated in about 10 min. The food was extremely good! We ordered drinks and the Moscow mule and Mojito were very good. Everything was good!

We have been there several time. Never been disappointed. Friday night fishis the best around The ribeye steak is my favorite and the prime rib is to die for. Our waitress Terri is a sweet gem. The whole staff is friendly.

Very mid food and service. Interesting/fun atmosphere. Love the open industrial look of the place. Open kitchen is a little odd, adding harsh light and lots of noise to the otherwise quiet and cozy-lighted dining area.
The food offers and descriptions seem like it would be really good, but we found the food to be rather bland.
For appetizers, we got fries and the baked French onion soup. The soup was very salty rather than savory. The fries were indeed skin-on, but they were just generic frozen fries, not fresh cut or anything. For the price, I had assumed they would be fresh cut. We got the garlic aioli to dip the fries, and the garlic flavor was near absent.
I tried the #6 Burger, which came with caramelized onion and garlic aioli, among other toppings. Despite these toppings, I found it quite bland, and I don't think the patty itself was seasoned at all. The side of coleslaw was alright if you like sweeter coleslaws.
My partner ordered the sherry cavatappi, a dish which we make at home occasionally. We found it bland as well, with the sauce so thin that it slid right off the pasta. We will stick to making this ourselves.
Despite the bland food, it did seem that the ingredients were all fresh and of good to great quality. The burger bun was very good. We did not get dessert, but the offerings looked appealing. Drink options were limited to those of a typical bar, though we did not order alcohol on this visit.
We went on a Tuesday night. There were more empty tables than full when we arrived, and the wait to order was longer than reasonable. We were seated right away, but the rest took awhile. All in all, we were in the restaurant for about 2 hours, with the first 20 minutes waiting to order and the last 20 minutes of waiting just to pay the bill.
I'm new to the area, and I was excited to try this restaurant based on the online menu. We were quite disappointed by service and food. We may try again to see if it was an "off" night. If it is a repeat, we will likely not be back. I will update this review based on a second visit, if any.

Had the cheeseburger and homemade potato chips to go. The meal came in a styrofoam container and was ready to pick up at the time indicated. The burger was thick, juicy, and well-flavored. The problem is the homemade potato chips. Guess what happens when you put crisp freshly fried potato chips inside a container with a hot, moist, juicy burger? Yep! Stale and soggy chips. Charge me an extra nickel and put them in their own container so they stay fresh and as good as they should have been.

I really wanted to love the food but unfortunately, I did not. We ordered a ribeye (asked for medium rare and it was not medium rare) and a prime rib special. The ribeye was probably the worst ribeye we have ever had. It tasted like it could have been cooked on a dirty backyard grill. We did ask for it to be taken off of our bill and the waitress was more than understanding. The prime rib was fair. The beans were cold and the sweet potato fries tasted like they had been fried in dirty grease. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't return. Our service was great and the hostess was very conscious of keeping the tables clean, etc.

The best prime rib you will ever get! It comes with green beans and a choice of potato. I went with the sweet potato fries, but have gotten their garlic mashed potatoes and they are delicious! Their kids macaroni and cheese was also very good and comes with several side options. Overall, highly recommend!

I'll start by saying the service was great. The waitress was attentive, had commented on the menu's choices and checked in a couple times despite having many other tables. Now the food. The Cheesecurds were absolutely amazing! They were hand made in house and used a quality cheese. The pull of the cheese from biting in the curds was not expected. Now the burger, it was okay, I have small critiques such as the bun being a little over toasted and the meat not being prepared to my request, but overall, it was just a burger. Overall, go for the cheesrcurds.

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here last, and last time was as good as this time with my son! A tad on the pricey side, but in my opinion, it’s worth it. At least the food was definitely worth it! I would definitely go back and take more of the family, and I just need to save a pretty penny, I guess! We stopped to get a stamp for the Green County Best Burger Challenge. Food was GREAT! The burger had a nice crisp on the outside-- delicious and cooked just as we each ordered (I like mine medium well, husband likes rare to medium.). Server Terri was helpful, friendly, and efficient. Highly recommend. Heart of gold. I've eaten here many times over the years and the food has always been terrific. I'm on here for something else though. I have 4 children and I've been buying Christmas presents and been broke for a couple of months(bills too) now so I really didn't have the money to make a big dinner. This place made everyone who asked a Thanksgiving dinner. Sure you can leave a donation. I couldn't do that so I'm on here explaining how greatly I appreciate this place. The interior has a open industrial look. The cheese curds are some of the best that you can ever get. The only curds that are better are the curds at the Green County Fair or on the Square at Cheese Days in Monroe. I had the #6 Burger I ordered it medium rare, it was a spot on. The caramelized onions add a nice sweet component and offset the salt of the bacon. My wife had the Rueben and she thought it was too salty. The hand cut fries were nice and thin and nicely seasoned with salt. I will be back again. July 2022 update great cheese curds. Some of the best cheese curds you'll. Not the best that's reserved for the Optimus tent at the Green Co. Fair and Cheese Days.

Went for the fish fry with my fiancé, and I've got to say it's hands down the BEST fish fry I've had in all my 4 years living in Wisconsin. The only reason I took a star off was because I asked for a side of their adult Mac and cheese (was willing to pay extra) but they still just brought me the little kids kind made with just straight Velveeta cheese and I was definitely not pleased with it... everything else was great though

Ate dinner here two nights in a row (Friday and Saturday). Friday I had the ribeye steak, best ribeye I think I've ever had. Tried the baked cod, and it was cooked perfectly. Saturday I had the Prime Rib. It was phenomenal!!!!! Also tried the ribs, super tender and full of flavor.

Went to this rather nice restaurant to celebrate a holiday with my extended family. The staff was wonderful and helped our main waitress deliver food and refills. Amazing how fast our orders came out and everything was fantastic. Personally had the prime rib dinner and it was perfect. The menu has a lot to offer and our entire family, 10 folks age 3 to 67, found something they loved. Highly recommended!

One of the best dinner experiences in a LONG time. Amber was very friendly, polite, and brought our food out quickly. (Appetizers, soups, salads, meal- all within 15 mins of being seated) It seems this place works well as a team and the kitchen staff was pumping plates of food out fast. (Bravo chefs!) Our food was flavored perfectly and the portions were large for a very fair price. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork, and if you’ve got a big appetite- check out the prime rib!

Very nice, super clean place. Is totally remodeled and repurposed old building, done up very nice. Old world charm. I loved the huge steel beams that are riveted from the turn of the century. Waitress was great and sweet. My drink was mixed perfectly and the steak was extremely flavorful and tender. I was quite pleasantly surprised with my experience. Not used to finding good places anymore. I will go back and highly recommend it.

first of all the lady taking our order did not seem friendly at all. She didn’t smile or say you’re welcome when thanking her. It was awkward to order and she even gave us a glare from across the room. we ordered multiple of the same food and some plates the portions were not the same. One had a bunch the next plate had barely any. For example ordered ice cream and I got a big scoop and my sister got barely a spoonful she thought it was a joke. Also first plate of Mac and Cheese was barely filled the next plate overly full. The food was not that good. Potatoes don’t even come with gravy just plain. Didn’t care for the pork chops. My boyfriend didn’t like his food. So didn’t my sister. the raspberry tea was just nasty.

Excellent off-the-square place, quiet enough to have a conversation and excellent options for dinner. Great menu and excellent apps. Make sure you examine the menu, as they have some unique twists!

So wonderful to get back to Buggyworks. Can't say enough. Baked Cod was great and the Hushpuppies were well out of this world. They are still keeping tables distanced which I greatly appreciate. Definitely gets a 10 in my book.

This is our TOP choice place to go out. We always double date with our friend and take all outsiders here first thing! We have never had a bad experience and have been here multiple multiple times. My favorite salad is the fitzgibbons and we have had almost everything else on the menu..... love it all. The Summer Slammer is a super great drink if you like sweet and something with a kick yet not the alcoholic tastes.
We only had one complaint once with he front of house girl who said she hated her job(this was in the middle of COVID) when everyone who still had a job was grateful yes here she was complaining- shouldn’t have complained to a customer in general.... she still works there though - Maybe she was not feeling well. I used to work in a restaurant in town similar to this one that went out of business. Probably because food was overpriced. You won’t see that issue here- everything is yummy and well done without the wallet getting wreaked- haha. The only other draw back is that it a small place so it can be a bit noisy.

First time eating here and was impressive with the decor of the building, its history and, the staff were very attentive to us. The food we had was the pork chops, prime rib, Philly cheese steak, and good old wisconins mack. The prime came out beautiful with serving crisp fried green beans and a option of potoatoe( the galic butter mashed potatoes was my choose today and it an explosion of flavor in every bite) the prime rib had it iconic redness with a even amount of rub on the marveling. The philly looked and tasted to perfection and the dipping juice was savory complementing the sandwich, as for the Mack & Cheese it had a creamyness with a hint of sharp cheddar...the perfect meal all around and all for a very reasonable price.
