Absolutely stunning location, amazing panoramic views of Egg harbor, the Bay of Green Bay, and outlying Islands. First time visiting, I can see why it's such a popular wedding venue! Sadly this may be our last! Seems like October 11th will be it's final closing. To be raised for a private home.😭
That said our lunch from the French onion soup, perch sandwich, fish taco's, and burger was awesome! Fabulous presentation, flavors, definitely exexpitonal for Door county's basic deep fried fare!
We arrived early for lunch and found immediately seating water view, our food service was efficient and drinks wonderful. Highly recommend if you can visit prior to closing! Hats off to the chef! Great job!

We had an amazing sunset dinner on the bay at this beautiful establishment for my wife’s birthday. It was unfortunately a chilly evening, but we still requested to sit outside and we were the only ones out there. The inside was busy, but everyone else was inside except for us. Our server Alex, despite the cold/windy evening, greeted us with a smile and provided us with the utmost respectful, patient, and amazing experience. He gave great suggestions on the food and wine for my wife (who is notorious for being indecisive…). She went with the salmon and an amazing wine to pair. I got this Caribbean cocktail which was surprising good. The seabass i had was to die for as I’ve never had any fish as good as this. To top it off, we told Alex it was my wife’s birthday and he came out with an amazing flourless chocolate cake! Next visit to Door County we will be coming back here and requesting to again sit outside on the bay. Absolutely stunning. Hopefully Alex will be back to provide us another amazing experience and hospitality! Thank you Alex and thank you Burton! (and thanks to the Bay!)

First red flag of many…. I was told I was only allowed to sit outside almost like I was a dog.
Along with this:
-Got rudely stared at by the hosts
-Everyone in the atmosphere looked at me like I had 3 heads
-Treated immensely differently
-Mischarged

Grabbed a drink at the bar Saturday evening. 10/10 experience. Our first round, lavender lemon drop, bourbon sweet, and a raspberry drink. My daughter ordered a blush crush but Oleg suggested the alternative, rasp. That cute wedding bartender noticed she wasn’t drinking the drink, while we were just trying to be respectful the two of them remedied it and made the original blush crush. It did not disappoint, such a fun drink! Wedding had a crafty bartender that night. My husband then had an original old fashion suggested by the same guy, surpassed his expectations. What a wonderful staff, good to see a team work together. Ceremony for the wedding was cherry on top!

Location is key to success. The view is incredible for sunsets. The food is off the hook amazing! Chef Tony has an incredible talent and shows off his talents in his food. We love the steak bites to start with, followed by French onion soup. Best I’ve ever had. Entree is perfectly cooked tenderloin. I’m drooling just writing this review.
Shane, one of their amazing bartenders makes amazing lavender lemon drop martinis. They alone will have coming back for more.
All the servers are amazing but I give a special shout out to Alex for exceptional service.
Come on Monday’s and Wednesday’s for live entertainment music.

Chef Tony prepared a delicious meal. Everyone loved their dinner. Ribeye cooked to perfection, as well as the Filet. Another had the Seafood Trio. All delioand flavorful. Lobster Bisque and French Onion Soup were favorites. The Wedge Salad, while it may seem simple, was a perfect size and great start to our dinner. Alex orchestrated the service perfectly from drinks, to dessert! He was very attentive to our needs and appreciated the conversation during and after our dinner. The atmosphere wasn't as charming with the main buildings now closed and we hear it may be n permanently. So sad to see the possible end on an era in resort life that was so personal and quaint.

There were 5-6 busboys in the room, nobody even cared to bring us water. First time leaving a review with any business, and I felt compelled to share after our visit. My wife and I are not from the area and decided we would stop at Burtons based on the view. When we arrived it was quite busy, and decided to just have a drink. Keegan, one of the bartenders, politely greeted us at the bar notifying it would be a moment before he could get our drinks. Despite being slightly concerned with how long it would take seeing how many drinks were being made, I was not disappointed. I only waited a few minutes and I feel I may have seen every cocktail on the menu made. Keegan is one of the best bartenders I have had in some time, I order a rather plain gin martini, and never do I feel intrigued to order a specialty cocktail, they all looked so tasteful and carefully crafted. Sticking with my gin martini it was still absolutely amazing. I applaud this young mans patience with the needy customers at the bar. Im not sure, but it seemed a good quantity of the drinks being made were also for the dining room, the two behind the bar handled everything with great composure. We ended having soup and steak bites off the dinner starters, which were beyond amazing, along with a couple more drinks. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name, but it appeared the other young lady behind the bar was still learning, she was very tentative and made my second drink. It was no different than the first. All of this paired with the view we went for was unmatched. Thank you to the two bartenders and the kitchen staff for a wonderful evening. Will be back next year!

We are visiting here from Indiana and googled local restaurants. We tried Burtons because of the great reviews and agree with them.
We sat outside with beautiful views of the lake. I ordered the fish tacos. They were fantastic loaded with great fish. I even took some of the fish out of the shells and ate it by itself it was so good. My husband ordered the steak bites. They were seasoned perfectly with great sauces . One bite had grizzle in it but the rest were perfect. We plan on trying to go again before we leave this area next week.

We were so looking forward to being able to accommodate our vegan family member with their menu as they stated they had online before our visit. When asking for the vegan options they said they didn’t have any and couldn’t make something. So we ordered a house salad, not listed as a side but came on a small side plate as the entree. While we love the atmosphere, the menu and service were disappointing. Bar tender was asked what NA beer were available, he said none. Asked if he could make something, he said no. Felt wildly unaligned with the price point of this place.

After a trolley tour, we looked for a restaurant close by and found this wonderful, peaceful gem next to the water. As part of the Alpine Resort, it has a beautiful large dining room and also a large patio for outdoor seating. With friendly, professional employees (such as Wyatt, our attentive server), the fine dining experience with beautiful views was so relaxing. The food was tasty and presented artistically, but with affordable prices. Our party had the wonderful soup and salad, a delicious burger, and the sumptuous steak sandwich with portabella mushroom. Though this restaurant is fancy, it had a relaxed atmosphere, and the waitstaff were friendly. My daughter absolutely loved the Margarita Pizza, while my husband had the same reaction to the Mac Daddy Burger. My son tried the Chicken Fingers with fries and his tenders were flavorful and fried to perfection. I enjoyed the Harbor Chicken Sandwich and fries as well. The food was very good. We had the steak bites which were cooked perfectly. Their chips are very good. We had the fish sandwich and chicken sandwich. Both were very good, but the bun on my chicken sandwich was a bit crumbly and fell apart. My wife's sandwich could have used some more perch. Her bun also fell apart. The bread tasted fresh, not sure why it didn't hold up.

The restaurant was a bit understaffed, so they did their best but expect a bit of a wait. The view is worth it, so is the food.

I did have an old fashioned, but it had small cubes, no orange peel or cherries, and was a bit less than mediocre. Stick to neat. Old fashioned was a 4.9/10. Chicken sandwich a 7.8/10, truffle fries 7.5/10, chips are an 8.3/10. Perch sandwich was rated an 8/10. Steak bites were a 9.2/10. Service, despite being understaffed, was an 8/10. Friendly and accommodating. This is a great spot for lunch and dinner!

We've heard about Burton's from friends and neighbors so we decided to try it out. Three of us enjoyed breakfasts here this past Sunday. We all agreed that the food was delicious, the portions were fair and the price was in line with local competition. We ate heartily and look forward to returning soon! The ambience was perfect! Cozy temperature, soothing music, relaxed feeling. I liked the real cloth on the tables. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet. I was surprised on many levels. It had a yummy, unique flavor. The hash was homemade with large chunks of soft corned beef. The sautéed onions and peppers made the hash a mild, sweet flavor. I loved the little cast iron skillet that held my yummy meal. It kept my food piping hot throughout. (I can't remember the last time I had a hot breakfast served to me! Thanks!) We all have one request... can you please toast our "toast"? We didn't expect warm soft bread slices, but we ate them, just the same. ( The cherry jelly was very nice on the rye.) All in all... we'll be back soon. Thank you for a great experience!

The view is lovely - we sat outside on an early fall day - and the wedding going on was lively in the area next to the seating area was lively. We decided we didn't want a big meal so we ordered 2 Caesar salads and two appetizers - the beef bites and the tempura shrimp. Everything came out quickly and all at once, which was fine. I'll admit, I judge a restaurant by how they treat their vegetables and they bombed on the salads. Served up on a very small plate and piled low and limp, the romaine was chopped into 3/4 inches piece and already starting to brown. Topped with plastic-like pre-shredded Parm, 5 small, cheesy croutons fresh from the package and a cold, greasy, breaded and fried anchovy filet as the crowning glory. The dressing tasted as if water had been added to it. Then onto the apps. The steak bites, while cooked okay, were way over-salted and served with two tiny sliced of grilled baguette. We would have asked for more bread, but the servers were not paying attention. The two sauces were plentiful, but we weren't into dipping salty meat chunks into globs of seasoned butter. Then then the "tempura" shrimp. This was the best part because the shrimp were good and the sauce passable, but these were not tempura. They were more like thickly beer breaded - and the breading was greasy. With tip (yes we tipped 20% even though not a single person asked if everything was okay or if we even wanted more drinks) the bill came to $75. Next time we'll grab some sandwiches from the local grocery store and sit in the park to watch the sunset. This was honestly one of our top terrible experiences at restaurant in years.

Been coming to the Alpine for 20 yrs. Was happy to see the improvements the new owners have made.

The new tent, outdoor deck, bar lounge - much better for events. The columns in the Dining Room break up the room
, but understand that the floor needed to be reinforced.

That said, you’ve really dropped the ball when it comes to service and food quality. Been there the past 2 years for breakfast, and it’s taken way too long to get breakfast, the three times I’ve gone there

The Bertschinger’s Hof restaurant did much better. Need to have a restaurant manager that makes sure that people get their food in a timely
Manner. And also a cook that make a decent pancake. My son’s pancake was underdone, it was white. My French toast was great, perfectly made.

I hope that the banquet side is better.

I’ll continue to support the Alpine, and look forward to when the lodge reopens, the Alpine Resort is a historical jewel. But sadly, can’t recommend the restaurant.

We were new to the restaurant after getting a recommendation from an acquaintance. Unfortunately the service was extremely substandard.
We waited at the host area about 10 minutes without any acknowledgement of our presence..Mind you it was a Monday night and not busy. Finally a server seated us. We then waited for another 15 minutes before we had a server, Erlend I believe. After we ordered, he dropped off our food and never returned until our plates were empty and our drinks finished. We got our own salt and pepper from another table. Wanted to get another plate, but gave up after waiting for our server to reappear. Normally we would have an after dinner drink, but we were so disappointed in the service we paid our check and left. Have been in hospitality business for years in fine dining. The service here did not make the grade. The servers need to be trained properly and the hostess needs to be present and more attentive about what's going on in the dining room, instead of the kitchen.

Really great lunch on patio over looking the marina and beach. Shaded in the early afternoon helped keep us cool during hot summer day. Great views of Egg Harbour and all within walking distance. Looks like they have a lot of "events" on the beach front with a large entertaining tent...guessing weddings. Cottages and lodge are updated nicely....as is the restaurant. Looks like they still have the classic feel in parts of the resort. Parking is across the street and a short walk to the restaurant. Easily dropped off at the door. Keeps the cars away from the dining/entertaining area.

Fabulous from start to finish. The quality of the food rivals what I’m used to in the heart of Chicago. The burrata was flavorful and well balanced, and the scallops were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately Burtons disappointed. A Wednesday night. Excuses, “kitchens slammed” “we got a big golf outing” ( they were served buffet style) waitstaff handling 6-7 tables All Over The Place AND they have to bring the food out too. ( so many extra people just walking around, you can turn tables a lot faster if you have handlers take the food out to the tables.
I’m not taking the chance on ordering a $50 6 ounce filet and be disappointed. We ordered a Caesar salad ( way to much dressing pre mixed) and French onion soup for starters ( I love making French onion soup and as my wife looked at me and said, so how is it? I said I was still looking for the beefy taste vs …..nothing taste. )
Margarita pizza…..Geeze don’t put so much on the tops of the pizzas and you won’t have to keep in the oven so long and burn the crust. Tomatoes right out of the can. Pesto on the margarita? Taste? None.
3 meat topping personal pizza, cut the toppings in half AND cut the meatballs in half. Sauce taste like, again, nothing. Ditch the tasteless bacon.
All for $55 plus 20% tip.
I wonder why burtons not recommended on Facebook. Great location. This is from locals and former 35 year owners in the restaurant / catering business.

An overall great experience with 1 minor hiccup. First off, this is a reinvention of the restaurant that had been there for years. Alpine Golf Course & Resort has been under new ownership over the last couple of years, so my wife and I decided to check out Burton's on the Bay for a Saturday evening.
The bar area is beautiful. The sites of the harbor, water, and yachts parked nearby are picturesque. I thoroughly enjoyed my espresso martinis as well as my various encounters with the bar staff. Friendly, with most having experience from other locations within Door County, so very knowledgeable too.
The restaurant is still a work in progress. Decorated minimally. It reminded me more of a banquet hall than the fine dining establishment the menu was trying to depict.
The food was very good: presentation and taste. We started off with a bruschetta appetizer, which was slightly over baked but still delicious. For our entrees, my wife had the tuscan chicken while I had the wild mushroom risotto, which is a dish I often hear Chef Marco Pierre White talk about through the years. Both were outstanding!
The dessert is where the hiccup came in. Although full, we decided to split a piece of key lime pie to complete our experience. We wish we hadn't. First off, the slice looked more like a wedge cut from a tart than a pie. Second, it didn't appear as if the filling had enough time to set as it slowly ran off the crust. Recommendation: a longer, firmer, thin slice, with a small piece of lime garnish on top. (Kinda like the pic you have!)
Prices range from $25-$55 for entrees.
Following: the entertainment was a 70's & 80's local cover band (Bacchus Lotus) that was a lot of fun and kept the crowd engaged.
Regardless of the dessert, this place deserved a 5 star rating. If for nothing else, then as a 48-year vacation veteran of the area, I knew the work needed to the resort and like the makeover it is getting. Keep it up!

Went here for dinner and stopped at the bar first. First drink seemed a little watered down or weak. Tried to get a second drink but was consistently ignored. So we left the bar and was seated in the dinning room. We had a party of 3 and one of us asked what size are the pizzas, like how many inches? The waiter said I don't know. We said can you find out? He came back and said, I am not sure. Okay we will skip that... No appetizer for us. So we proceeded to order dinner. I ordered a salad and soup which were both a la carte separate extra charges, and then I ordered the Sea Bass. The salad was very plain and not worth a extra charge and the bowl of soup was only a half of a bowl and cold, defiantly not worth a extra charge. The Sea Bass came with 4 little bites of Risotto, and the Sea Bass was also just a small piece of the Sea Bass like 4 bites. I was still very hungry and thought I could order desert, wrong! We were ignored the rest of our visit, and we couldn't even get out water refilled. Maybe there well stopped working or they forgot to pay their water bill! The waiter did manage to drop off the bill as he kept walking by. Just my portion of the bill was around $60. My 4 bites of Sea Bass and 4 bites of Risotto was around $42, salad was $7, and my half of a bowl of cold soup was $9. Definitely not worth $60.
I always thought a place like this would want to sell as much food and drink as they could to a customer.... Strange that they would limit this! You definitely won't see me back at this place again. What abuse....

When we first arrived there was only 1 person sitting at the bar. We tried to get the bartenders attention several times and was unsuccessful until I started to waive both hands in the air... This also happened again for the second drink at the bar. And both times I put a different amount of cash on the bar to pay for my drinks and both times they collected all of it! Strange! The service in the dinning room for dinner was even worse! Our waiter ignored some of the people at our table of 5. It was ridiculous for them to even try to get a glass of water refilled! All the food portions were small. Obviously portion size is geared more for petite eaters. When you order a bowl of soup, it might almost be considered a half bowl of soup. The Sea Bass was not a filet of fish, but maybe one fourth of a filet and two tablespoons of risotto came with it for $41, soup was a extra $9, and salad was a extra $7. The dinning room was extremely chilly. So for $57 for food plus what ever my drinks costed, I came there hungry and left there cold and hungry! Oh and there was no way to get desert for me from this waiter, as I was one of the ones he was obviously ignoring... Burton's please don't even ask me to be patient, or give it another try! Everything about this experience was one of the worst I have ever had in all my years of dinning experiences........

Disappointing. Online menu looked great, the restaurant looked modernized and higher end. The view was amazing.
But once we were seated it was apparent that looks can be deceiving.
We waited a while to be noticed or greeted by waitstaff. We knew what we wanted to order and ordered immediately, the food came out quickly but again, to our disappointment, it was not at all what we expected. The “American fries” in the breakfast skillet were basically whole potatoes that were unevenly cooked and made it very difficult to eat. There was too much gravy and I couldn’t even tell if there was bacon or cheese in it, and my over easy eggs on top came out broken, and the yolks were hard but the whites were still undercooked. I ended up sending it back and ordering a side of eggs and bacon, which my eggs were very undercooked and inedible. My daughters eggs were also too runny and her bacon, she described “like jerky” was very over cooked and tough. My husbands “corned beef hash” was like a weird stew that barely had any corned beef. It was mushy and definitely not a hash. As for the service, our waitress was nice, but the experience itself left a lot to be desired. We continued to feel unseen. There were no spoons given with our cream and sugar and we had to stir our coffees with a knife, there was no jam for our toast and biscuits, we never got our coffees refreshed and we waited over 15 minutes to get our waitress’s attention to get the check before we finally got the manager to get her to bring it.
I have over 20 years of experience as a cook, caterer and baker and have an extensive knowledge of the challenging conditions that have been caused by the pandemic on the restaurant industry. But, I feel I have a professional obligation to bring up our experience here.
I want it to be clear that I never write reviews, and I can count on one hand the times I’ve sent food back to the kitchen in the last 30 years, but the experience we had was so disappointing that I wouldn’t feel settled unless I expressed this.

In May of this year Burtons on the Bay in the Alpine Resort opened. Everything about the location is great, the water view, outdoor deck, bar area and dining room. The crowd was evidence of this. As great as all the above amenities are the service and dining experience don't live up to the expectations. Like everywhere else in Door County, they are short on staff and while this usually doesn't bother me, it usually means one more cocktail while waiting at the table...the wait on the first cocktail was 20 minutes, empty 20 then another 20 to the next. Though the Bluecheese Chips (which were amazing) were delivered in this time frame, they came via a water server that didn't take orders. Another long wait then the food arrived before our soup and salad. At this price point, take note the meal does not include soup, salad, vegetables or bread service. I usually like a long meal as long as there is a flow to the experience. Unfortunately our server that was working very hard was just over sat trying to cover more tables with large parties that made for a difficult evening. Burtons is better than a three star, just not quite a four star rating.

If there was a zero they would get it. Absolutely horrible. So first, we called to ask if we could bring a dog. Yes, but you will have to be on the patio. Ok, that's all they had open anyway, as it was breakfast. We arrived and things were slow with the entire process. After about 30 min. food was delivered to a table near us and our 6 lb. poodle that was in a screened in stroller started to bark. As we were trying to console her, the "manager" came up and told us dogs weren't allowed. We said we called. Who did you talk to. Like how would we know. So I strolled her around the property, where no dogs are allowed, but she was in a stroller. It took one hour from the time we ordered to get our food. I love Eggs Benedict and eat it all over the world. This was the worst. The absolute worst. So it has hollandaise on it, so can't see what is under. While I will eat bacon, it's not my favorite. I eat two bites and realize there is something drastically wrong. I investigate with my fork and there is a ton, like a ton of bacon on it. No ham. Menu said smoked pork loin I believe. Trying to be fancy there. It takes forever to track down the waiter and I explain this is not right. He says yes, we ran out of the ham, so just put a lot of bacon on it. I can not tell you how unappetizing something like this is. If you like food, don't go here. They didn't ask if I wanted something else and charged us for this thing!
