This was by far one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
Juan helped to make our special day and our first time at the restaurant an incredible night to remember.
Everything definitely tastes like it's made from scratch and there was care and attention put into each dish. The cocktails were phenomenal and really topped off the dishes we ordered.
Parking was super easy. We parked in the attached garage for $4 and there's an entrance from the second level directly into the restaurant. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks again to Juan for his hustle, hard work, and helping to make our night special.

Loved the interior and colors. Made a reservation 3 weeks out for a large group. Once entire group was there trying to get a cocktail-service was slow at the bar-the server informed us that meals were running out which forced us to get seated immediately. This is the only place open Monday nights downtown Racine. With that being said, they could have used another server instead of one and one bartender. Cocktails were okay but if you order a replacement bourbon or rye whiskey from their drink list -you will be charged extra. The menu wasn’t available on line to preview. The food was good but not for what they were charging. A slim pork chop for $35. The house salad was huge and fed a small portion to 5 people while the arugula salad fed one. They have no burgers, one chicken dish roasted I think for $30 and halibut was 2 x4 piece in size. Don’t think I will go back. FYI they get their food delivered on Wednesdays so if you want over priced pieces of fish or steak go on a Thursday. They had more items unavailable than they had available to order. If your a “butcher restaurant” you should never run out of rib eyes.

I had the Urban cowboy. My wife had the beef short ribs. My daughter had the roasted chicken and my other daughter had the pesto fusilli. We had the deviled eggs has our appetizer and they were so good. We ordered the second one. Everything was cooked to order was delicious. The staff was courteous and attentive and knew the menu well. We had the creme brulee and cheesecake which we shared at the table at the end and we were very happy with our experience

The food here is the best in town. Absolutely fabulous. Was a little bummed that the 2nd time I had the glazed salmon, it was a smaller portion size than had at our first visit. But that said, the cocktails are amazing and we love it here!

The new location at Main Street is modern, vibrant, and cozy. It has a covered parking garage, so it doesn’t matter if it is raining or snowing. Drinks are great and food delicious.
I can not decide which one is my favorite dish, but for sure it would be one with the “polenta”. The cheesecake with coconut is to die for. If you are not from Wisconsin, ask for the Old fashion drink to taste a little bit of the local flavors. Wednesday is a great day for half price wine bottles. And Sundays have an extra “gastro pub” menu. If you go with a group, I recommend order different dishes and share, so you can try a bit of everything.

This was our second visit, but our first for food. We loved the bar and atmosphere so much, we came back for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to see a menu that was almost entirely gluten free.
The drinks were superb and our server was super attentive and on top of every detail.
We ordered the deviled eggs with the crispy pork belly, and excellent touch. Followed up our appetizers with the Short Rib on polenta and the Urban Cowboy. The steak was perfectly rare and the sides were perfectly seasoned.
Couple all of this with access to the restaurant through the parking garage and you never have to worry about weather and parking.

Wonderful 25th Anniversary Dinner. Met with 2 glasses of champagne courtesy of B&B!!! Deviled Eggs appetizer were excellent! I had the Smothered Pork Chop with Wild Mushroom sauce. So impressed my chop was sliced and plate was beautiful. My partner ordered the Braused Short Rib. Melt in your mouth!!!! Crème Brûlée topped off an Excellent Meal and dining experience. Hats off to our wonderful hostess/bartender and server and KUDOS to the Chef!!! Thank You for a wonderful dining experience! We will be back with family and friends!!!

Our male waiter was funny, engaging and attentive. The food was spectacular. The decor is small but warm and inviting and well done..the staff was very friendly. There is no room at all here for strollers or small kids or a wheelchair/walker. I saw a couple try to come in struggling with a massive Cadillac sized stroller just to leave because there is nowhere to put it. This place is really little, but it's very nice. Honestly, Its just not that kind of kids place. So leave them out of this one and go for couples dinner or drinks. It's well worth it. Handicapped persons may struggle here too, particularly because bathrooms are across from the bussing station and its a tight spot where the staff hangs out. Im sure they would go out of their way to assist you but you may be disappointedor uncomfortable. Just know it's tight in there. It is a somewhat upscale environment, Id say mid to high priced entrees about $20-30 plates. Worth it, fabulous.

This place is fantastic. My husband and I came for the first time to celebrate my birthday. The food was next to none, our waitress was kind and attentive, and the drinks and dessert were delicious. The menu rotates, so don't expect the exact same things if some time passes between visits. But rest assured, it will be "visits" plural because this place is too good to go just once.

The staff were amazing! Unfortunately our food was not good! I got the pork chop with mash potatoes and was very disappointed in the lack of seasoning and smell of fish that came from my food. My boyfriend ordered the risotto and he said it had very little seasoning. I had 1 bite of the pork chop and 4-5 bites of the mash potatoes and he had just a few bites of his risotto. We ended up tossing our leftovers.

Our first experience at Butcher & Barrel was simply phenomenal! It’s a well-designed and well-decorated place in a great corner location. We went around 7pm on a Wednesday and had no problem finding close street parking.
We were promptly and attentively taken care of by Matthew - he anticipated every need and ensured everything came out to perfection. We started with the butcher block appetizer which had several delicious meats and cheeses accompanied by dried apricots, olives, biscuits, honey, and mustard. We had a good time trying different flavor combinations!
On to the main meal - we both ordered the urban cowboy (ribeye steak) that came with cauliflower mash and a vegetable medley. The steaks were seasoned so beautifully and cooked exactly how we asked (medium rare). The mash and medley were both seasoned to have such delightful and unique flavors.
Last but certainly not least, the restrooms were clean and well stocked. All in all, we had a fantastic first visit to Butcher & Barrel Gastropub and will most certainly be back!!

RIDICULOUS!! Their cheesecake is RIDICULOUS, and I'm not even a big fan of cheesecake. It was so freaking good!!!! First off, I didn't even know this place was here, it seems to be off the beaten path but then again I don't get out much, okay I get out but not much around the area. I digressed a bit. We went here for a birthday celebration, they wanted a steak and I could careless. I figured since it was their birthday, I wouldn't take them to Dennys for it. She had the steak and said it was Delicious. I had the beet salad and her vegetables. Let me tell you about her vegetables. They were very, very good, perfectly seasoned and not soggy, I didn't even mind that there were cucumber wannabes (zucchini) in the mixture. I didn't eat them but allowed them to touch the good stuff. Anywho, the beet salad was huge, I had leftovers. Our server, Anna, I hope that is correct, was the best, and super attentive. I will definitely be back

It's a bit of an odd place. Not bad, but not your normal 'bar' I suppose. They are a gastropub so I guess that's why the feel was so different.
We stopped in for a cocktail and the bartenders were wonderful. attentive and kind. Unfortunately we didn't really like either of the drinks we received - which I don't think is their fault. The flavors just weren't there. I think I had something called the Bitter Orange something and my partner had a margarita.
The atmosphere is cute, but could use a little update and or cleaning. The bar had a very distinct smell to it. Kind of... damp? Like if you left a towel in the wash too long. They had a candle burning next to us, I think to help with the smell; but it didn't do any good.
Overall. It could be a cool little pub with a little more attention to details :)

Being brief…
Saddened. Mediocre. Just ok.
The menu was odd. I ordered pork chops for 36 dollars could barely enjoy because too much tyme.
There was pumpkin purée that tasted like water and pumpkin spice paired with a scallop, cashew, sugar pea and it was meh…the whole bite just brought me back to gerber puréed pumpkin.
The bacon Mac n cheese was buttery and such a large-like 3 ppl could’ve split it. But it was the best dish out of all three.
We started with Brussels sprouts-delish I just wish the glaze was not as watery and held the bacon to the veg. But delish.
I just wanted to leave an honest review. Paid 180 total plus two drinks…the drinks were infused with lavender and I think Baby’s breath…cute. I got the concept. June special drinks.
It’s not the best but if you want to support those in food service, please support and tip well.
A 200 dollars is better spent at a Bartolottas restaurant…in my experience. No shade. Like we had leftovers-large portions but for 200 we paid to waste food because we weren’t compelled to relive the experience.
I may eat the Mac n cheese for lunch today (2days later) because I don’t want to waste so much money.
I appreciate the service and I brought my 3yr at around 7:30-we popped in from Farmers Market and it was mostly manageable. Not ideal for kids or physically impaired though.

The food honestly I could have gotten better at chilis. My soup was decent but the chicken wings and chicken sandwich were dry and not flavorful.
Prices were high for what it is.
While we were there there was a wedding party going on upstairs and an older couple with a semi younger older adult was directed upstairs. They have no elevator or chair lift and the waiter the women asked was just like “nope only stairs” no apology or anything. And then only bathroom available is also on the first floor. Again no apology from the staff.
I personally don’t even think non-accessible restaurants should be able to exist. It’s 2024 to exclude a whole population is outrageous and the one staff members nonchalant attitude was deplorable.

Went here on a date and was pretty disappointed with the food I ordered. I got the $55 ribeye w/ mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The steak was mediocre at best. Mostly gristle and fat. The potatoes were very bland. The veggies were good but nothing special. Definitely not worth the price tag. If they seasoned the potatoes and knocked $20 of the price I would have been happy with it. Their charcuterie board was meh. My date had the scallops with curried sweet potatoes which was decent but not spectacular. Overall, we felt kind of ripped off. We won't be going there again. If a place has "Butcher" in the name, they better have a good steak. They don't.

This is the best restaurant opened in Racine in my lifetime. Great bar. Fantastic menu. Loved everything. One request, your wine list isn't living up to everything else you're doing. Well my excitement to try this restaurant for the first time were quickly sqaushed. When calling to ask if online orders directly through the restaurant website for pickup were being accepted, we were told no because there was a full house. That decision is 100% understandable to me given staff needs, etc. However, when the reason was wrapped up with "they wanted to make sure the in house customers were having a great experience, my thought was, is my need to order pick up not important to your establishment. Might be better next time to just say we are not offering pick up at this time but we welcome you to come in and experience our in house dining.

Have to say I was very excited to try this place but sadly I was disappointed. The food was mediocre 😕. When paying over $100 for my wife's and I to have dinner, I expect it to be delicious! This is THE high-end dining establishment that you want to visit. There are a couple of older establishments in Racine that have been the go-to spots, but Butcher & Barrel Gastropub is hip and delicious. Planning on experiencing the environment, we enjoyed a pre-meal martini, which was very good. For my meal I had a perfectly prepared steak with well-suited vegetables. A nice glass of red wine paired well with my food. My dinner companions were equally pleased. It was very nice to have such a relaxed, and somewhat sophisticated experience here in my town.

We absolutely LOVED our experience here. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive and took the time to understand food allergies before making food recommendations. The drinks were incredible and reasonably priced for specialty drinks in a small, local place.
On to the food—portions were larger than most places of this variety. The menu describes dishes well and what it can’t capture, staff makes sure to be able to. I wasn’t sure if I wanted pork—oh my gosh, I couldn’t have been happier. And as for my husband, the macaroni dish he had was not only somehow gourmet but delicious enough to eat for days on end (and large enough for more than one meal).
We’ve just now moved out of Racine and truthfully, I didn’t like living there much—but I would go back for dinner here again.

Nice ambiance, friendly service, very attractive exterior that lures you in. A couple of the dishes were good. There were a lot of options on the charcuterie board. Small menu.
Cons:
Pretty pricey for a hit-or-miss meal. The mashed potatoes with my meal were very salty and the pork chop was dry. We waited 45 minutes after finishing appetizers for our meal to arrive.

The "Urban Cowboy" steak is incredible and was cooked perfectly, and the infused butter was delicious. Super friendly staff, and excellent old fashioneds. I will absolutely be returning again and again.

Celebrated my wife's birthday. They had great gluten free options for her to choose from. We had the beet and goat cheese salad to start. Her entree was the scallops which had a little kick and very nice curry flavor. I went with the pork chop which was excellent. They even had a crust less cheese cake with apples, perfect for the cool season. Our waiter Juan was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Will be back for sure.

What an unexpected delight Butcher & Barrel was!!! A+ for atmosphere, service, food and cocktails. Nothing was as you expect, the martini served with a rinse, the gin herbal delight, the charcuterie with the Calabrian chile maple goat cheese, the chicken perfectly crispy and perfectly moist, the perfect filet served with the best cauli mash. By far, better than every high end meal we ate in Chicago the weekend before. A must visit!

Nice, small place that we enjoy going to. I really like the female bartender, she's pretty cool.
Food is generally good to excellent, but not spot on every time. Last time we went, my wife and I both had a burger, which we both thought great, but for the appetizer, we had the brussel sprouts which were kind of hard and thus disappointing. I had the brussel sprouts a different time and they were perfect. One time I had the pork chop and it was fantastic, another time it was overdone and meh.
I highly recommend the California old fashioned.

Perfect Place for a Purposeful Moment
We stumbled into this place not knowing what to expect and not knowing if they would even have a table for us. There was a quiet 2 top just open and waiting (so thankful whoever reserved it didn't end up showing up). We were seated and our order taken. Even though there was a mix up on which waiter would take our table (a little wait happened), they were apologetic and so wonderful after that! Emma was the best server. Ready and attentive, but not intrusive at all! We ate the most perfect food and had the most amazing drinks (the Mad Botanist is to die for btw!!) and just had a sweet time remembering our Dad who had just recently passed away. He was extravagant in the way he loved and gave and this place was wonderful in everyway. Thanks for the love....

We were greeted by Juan for our 5:00pm dinner reservation and immediately seated. This restaurant uses the YELP! app for making and cancelling reservations. Juan promptly left us with menus and took our drink orders. We both ordered the beet salad and boneless ribeye. The salad was delicious but as Juan warned us one salad could have fed the two of us. But that's okay, we'll eat the leftovers tomorrow! My wife ordered her ribeye (medium) with the mashed cauliflower. She loved both. I ordered my ribeye (medium) with garlic mashed potatoes. Both steaks had a perfect sear, were very juicy, tender and done to perfection. At 14 ounces each, there was plenty to take home. The side vegetables, a squash, onion and sweet potato medley were spiced just enough for me a bit much for my wife. We were in at 5:00pm, enjoyed a great meal. Had excellent service and left around 6:00pm.

Service and food were great. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We went there on one of their 1st days of their fall menu, so there were a few hiccups with food prep and timing of bringing food out (as would be expected, and we were in no hurry). Our waiter made sure to inform us of the status of our food frequently because of this and we really appreciated that.
Also if you like brussel sprouts I highly, highly recommend their appetizer. It was easily the best brussel sprout app I've ever had and probably in the top 3 appetizers of all time.

Nice atmosphere, very friendly waiter, but the bartender was watering down shots of tequila. Also, the my steak was not cooked as I requested. Asked for medium rare, hoping it would come out medium, but it was on the verge of well. Very tough and over seasond with salt. The vegetable medly was good and the cauliflower mash was incredible. But, a salty steak kinda wipes out the good portions of the meal. Not a good Birthday meal ! For the price, I would advise not going.

Excellent service and fantastic food. I haven’t had such a good meal like I had here for years!!! My entire party of 8 were completely satisfied with our meal. Ten stars for the chef’s food and presentation! The restaurant was very clean and we loved how they were applying regulations concerning Covid-19. We will definitely go back and are looking forward to trying a different dish. Believe me everything was so delicious, I will be trying every dish served here. Kudos to the chef and server. Thank you to the staff for the best ever experience at a new restaurant for our family.

We dipped into the restaurant this evening and took this chance to check out the new menu. We ordered meatballs, salmon and chicken as our entrees and no one was disappointed. The soup was oyster Rockefeller which was delicious. We sampled the baked brie which was beautifully presented and tasty. If you're able to stop in and sample the menu I don't think that you will be disappointed.
