I took my family here for a little lunch.

My wife got chicken skewers, I got shashuka, and my daughter chicken tenders.

The chicken was overcooked and charred on the top giving it a bitter flavor. The pita bread tasted like it came from a frozen package and wasn’t cooked through all the way. The shashuka wasn’t really shashuka. eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, olive oil, peppers, onion, and garlic, commonly spiced with cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper. Typically it’s also topped with feta cheese. Most of the dish seemed like it was just thrown in a pan and cooked over high heat rather than with oil sautéed properly and the. Finished off in the oven… it was also underwhelming in size and was almost $15.

The waitress was fine. She had a hard time understanding us, especially when my wife because she has a strong accent but my bigger issue was the time it took to get the food out. It took about 20 mins.

Final note, with two apple juices and one coffee it ran us 51 dollars to eat lunch here. In my humble opinion, way overpriced for the quality and service. I can’t see myself ever eating here again. It’s too bad too because there isn’t many cafes like that in this area.

I will say that the overall environment was quite nice. Big windows with lots of natural light and an overall old school cafe vibe that was nice.

Waitress was very pleasant and did offer to remedy the fact that my husband did not like his gyro although he told her that it would probably be futile since a second one would probably come out just the same. Definite attempt made at a pleasant atmosphere but the cleanliness had a bit to be desired. The food.... Shawarma was edible, though lacking flavor. The flavor that stood out the most was the very dark chicken and wrap which were almost to the point of being burned. No sauce, and what is shawarma without sauce??? The gyro my husband had was the worst gyro either one of us have ever eaten. The meat was not browned on the outside and shaved off a larger piece of meat, but rather all of the meat pre sliced was put on a griddle and cooked on both sides, VERY dark, again almost burned as was the pita. The meat also did not have the traditional flavor of gyro meat. With eyes closed you would never know that it was supposed to be gyro meat. The tzaziki had zero flavor, basically just sour cream, I wouldn't even say it tasted like Greek yogurt. The French fries were on the salty side but tasty. Definitely disappointed in this place

I love Cafe 36 for breakfast! The dishes, especially the omelets, have excellent flavor and are never bland like many cafés and diners. The coffee is also incredible! However, I went for dinner once, and it was a horrible experience. I ordered a perch fish fry and can only describe the taste as overwhelmingly rancid. My partner had ordered fried shrimp. They came breaded completely shelled, legs attached and not deveined. Our server never came back after our food was set down, so no issues could be addressed. We left our meals and stood at the front counter for 15 minutes waiting to pay for an inedible meal.

We patronize this restaurant frequently, even at the previous location. The struggle is with time management. Every time it is extremely slow. We were just there today and it took 1 hour for food , there are only 15 tables and several waitresses. Not sure why it consistently takes so much time to serve customers . Food is good but at some point customers will stop coming because no one should have to wait that long.

Yo can’t miss with breakfast here. This unassuming little cafe has all the breakfast classics plus great Moroccan/Mediterranean style dishes cooked by the owners (get the kofta breakfast, it’s amazing). The atmosphere is always clean and cared for, and the service is excellent. Shout out to Miranda, I seem to get her every time and she’s full of great recommendations and always remembers me. Can’t recommend this place enough. A hidden gem among casual diners in the area.

Unfortunately while eating the gyro I could tell it has been frozen by the texture of the meat. Service was slow and it was hard to get the attention of my server. Was chewing on my ice while waiting for my refill. I noticed they were serving bloody marys, but no liquor licenses were posted anywhere. I absolutely love shawarma and falafel. I eat both in Africa. I requested the chef if he could make the shawarma the same as I had in Africa. He did! It was awesome and I enjoyed it very much.
The young lady server was on top of her game without hovering.

I had the eggs Scandinavian - cold smoked salmon over spinach on the fluffiest English muffins topped with poached eggs and plenty of house made hollandaise. I have been frequenting Cafe 36 since it was Sam’s in Tichigan. Such a nice warm atmosphere with quality dishes and friendly service. Sam is a wonderful person who doesn’t mind taking a few minutes to say hi. You leave the cafe feeling more like a guest than a customer. Wife had short stack. There wasn't any stack to it. Pancakes were tiny thin as crepes and 1/4 of each were black on top. Cmon, pancakes batter is cheap as heck. If you see you burned a little toss it out an start over. Small an thin, I told my wife I'd be embarrassed if I owned this place an saw that come to the table. My meal was meat lover skillet. Eggs were cooked perfectly flavor was good but here again there couldn't of been a half cup of Hashbrowns under it. Extremely small portion for $11+. This place is a nice off the beaton path Sunday morning breakfast spot. The chef/cook knows his way around the kitchen. Ive been there multiple times and the food is consistant and nicely done. He makes a holandaise that belongs in a 5 star reasturant. His poached eggs are infact poached, not over done bur not underdone. The menue has something for everyone. I’m a Retired Chef, didn’t announce that to my wonderful server. Observed an excellent menu, very bold menu I might say. Service was supremely delivered. I was looking for a breakfast joint to grab some takeout and ended up staying and enjoying a hearty feed with a Mediterranean twist.

Hands down the worst sandwiches we've ever had at a restaurant. I ordered a blt, no tomato(food allergy) For $11.00 I received a small amount of hard and badly burned bacon on hard and thin white toast with wilted lettuce. I asked for fresh bacon and got a side of microwaved bacon as a replacement. The taste was terrible, I didn't eat it. $29.00 we won't get back. The coffee I have to say was delicious, the waitress was friendly.
