If you love small friendly gathering places, live music in a quiet setting, and delicious healthy food, you will love Cafe Carpe. The historic building has a gorgeous bar and original art on the walls. In warm weather, you can eat on the screened back porch overlooking the Rock River. Musicians love to play in the intimate listening room beyond the bar.

Wow, this place has not lost its charm, excellent service, or the great food over the last 20yrs. If you like laid back fun and simple but high quality fare, put this amazing little gem on your must visit list. Oh, and they have a wonderful live music venue as well.

Delicious food and drinks! Got Cajun Tuna and Cajun Meatloaf for dinner, as well as Black beans soup. Everything was absolutely delicious, so we decided to stay for Irish coffee with some desserts! They were delicious, definitely recommend the turtle bars and carrot cake.
And staff is especially amazing!

An evening at the Cafe Carpe is like going home - that is if your parents are culinary masters of American fare. Serving savory homemade sandwiches, salads, and specialties along with rich pies and tortes that could only have been created with loving care using only the finest of fresh ingredients, the Cafe Carpe aims to please. With the help of live music and drinks, you will always be entertained. Stop in and you will be greeted with a warm smile and a cheery hello from your hosts Bill and Kitty.

A little bit of home town old school hippie heaven lives on in the warm vibe of Cafe Carpe. A folk music performance venue that is on every aspiring singer songwriter's "must play" list. Everything is a bit worn around the edges because it's so loved by so many. Come in a stranger, leave as a friend.

I've been coming here since they opened in 1985. Memories saturate the wood like humidity. Bill and Kitty have kept this light burning and the good food flowing for decades. The warmth of good music on a full belly is something everyone should know. And if you don't, do your self a favor and find out what that means by stopping in. Hell, if you do know, stop in and get some more!

Cafe Carpe has a fine live music intimate listening room with great food and friendly hospitality provided by owners Kitty & Bill Camplin. Bill has one of the finestest voices (and performs occasionally at Cafe Carpe) Wisconsin ever produced---proficient enough to achieve a performance with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Cafe Carpe supports singer song writer music second to none and attracts listeners keen in hearing music in an environment paying attention to details.

A great quirky cafe with a screen porch section over-looking the river. My jambalya was very good as was my friend's spinach feta croissant. The server was a lot of fun. The whole place reminded me of Madison in the 60s and 70s!

A very special place. Performances in the back room can be amazing. I have seen Howard Levy and Corky Siegel (together), Albert Lee, Mike Dowling, Randy Sabien, Willy Porter, Peter Mulvey...so many world-class musicians have played here. Not to forget one of the proprietors, Lonesome Bill Camplin. Simple menu, good food choices, great vibe and atmosphere. Worth a trip to Fort Atkinson, especially for a good show.

We enjoyed a meal at Cafe Cape tonight. The food was the most Amazing Blend of Fresh Spices and Vegetables. Each bite was a burst of flavor which lasted to the last bite. We had the Garden Salad with Chicken and the Caribbean Sweet Potato Salad, Grilled Jones Ham and Swiss with the Manhattan Clam Chowder. And to top off our over the top meal was a live music performance by the Krause Family Band. We highly recommend Cafe Carpe.
