Today, I had the pretzel breakfast Sammie and subbed over-easy eggs from scrambled and they absolutely slayed it! Cali was spot-on! And the beer list? Ridiculous! You won't be disappointed!

I’ve been going to Café Hollander for years, and it just dawned on me that I’ve never left a review. Actually, let me rephrase that—I’ve been to almost all of their locations: Downtown, Mequon, Brookfield, and Wauwatosa.

Why? Because Café Hollander just works for almost everything. Need a spot to grab drinks after work with colleagues? Check. Date night? Check. Rooftop hangout with friends? Check. Family in town? Still check. I’ve even attended a graduation party/luncheon at one of their locations.

Somehow, Café Hollander has become one of those places everyone ends up at, which says a lot about the atmosphere and the food. I’ve run into friends there purely by coincidence—and even spotted a Milwaukee Bucks player once at the Mequon location.

They’re probably best known for their brunches, and for good reason—their Bloody Marys are excellent. I like a little spice, so I usually go with the Spicy Badger or the Milwaukeean (ask for hot sauce). Pair that with their Cheese & Bacon Omelette or the “Hot Mess,” and you can’t go wrong.

For lunch or dinner, I like almost all of their burgers, but the Big Smokey and the Sconnie are my favorites. You also can’t go wrong with the Grilled Cheese Beef Tosti or the Meatloaf. All of them go great with their house beers. I love Belgian styles, so I usually go with the Theresa Tripel Blonde. I only wish I could buy some of their beers at the grocery store—you have to visit the restaurant to get them.

As a parent, the kids’ menu is a must for us. Thankfully, the grilled cheese, meatloaf, and French toast are all popular choices with our little one. Milk or apple juice are the go-to drinks. And we rarely leave without dessert—the Big Fudge Brownie is a perfect family shareable treat. You’ll probably have it all over your face by the end, but that’s half the fun.

Of course, these are just my personal favorites. There are plenty of other menu items worth trying, and that’s probably why we keep coming back. It’s a great place to sit out on the patio when the weather is nice, and the service is consistently excellent.

In a time when customer service can be hit or miss, Café Hollander locations continue to stand out.

In summary: something for everyone, great food, great service, casual atmosphere, usually easy parking, and a welcoming vibe. What more do you really need?

I have ordered the same order 3 times and I have not received my side order of dressing plus my fries were very sugary. When I received my order today it was so bad I had to put it in the trash.
Thanks for wasting my money. Please don’t order there flat bread. It has so much salt you will not enough water to kill the pain. It’s was all premade for the freezer. Because all the flatbread all look the same.

We had such a great time here! Our server Amanda was awesome , super friendly and made us feel right at home. She even showed my toddler how to use the tablet to order, which was such a sweet way to include her in the meal.

I went with Amanda’s recommendation and tried the Luxemburger, and wow… so good! She also mentioned the Grilled Cheese Beef Toastie for lunch, so I guess that just means we’ll be back soon to try it out.

Have had very good lunches here in the past. So we decided to try breakfast. Came here with a party of 6 around 9:15. Got seated inside, overlooking the nice garden fountain area. Not busy, with only 3 other customers in the area.
Disappointed with the breakfast food - egg plate was cold and the quiche was cool and dried out, as if it was a left over from a few days ago.

I got to this place as I just moved to the neighborhood and am getting to know the area. I found decent reviews and was hungry.

The place is inviting as you walk in. It features a nice patio seating and inside looks quite cool too.

The hostess asked me if I wanted inside or outside table. It was gorgeous outside so I opted for a patio seating.

I was brought to a small back terrace as opposed to the main front patio. I guessed front tablets were reserved for larger parties and followed the hostess.

I occupied the only table in the back terrace, even there were tables available in the front patio, which was more lively.

I ordered the luxemburger and a beer. I got the burger but I never got the beer. The waitress never cared to come by my table to check on me after she brought me the burger. As soon as I took the last bite of my burger, the waitress came to my table with the credit card terminal in her hand and my unsolicited check.

Pretty obviously, it was time for me to leave.

I didn’t feel appreciated whatsoever.

I must say, I am a US citizen with a strong latino accent.

I don’t want to assume anything… is this the first racial injustice I get to experience in this very white and wealthy neighborhood? If she knew what I have on my wallet and the car I drive, I bet I’d get the best table in the place… or not.

The burger was nothing out of the ordinary. Too much mustard and killed the flavor of everything else.

I will never come back neither recommend this place to friends and neighbors.

The food is consistently excellent. I highly recommend the Sconnie Burger and the sweet potato fries with basil aioli so flavorful! Their brunch options are great too; the Berry Basil French Toast is a standout.

The beer selection is huge and has something for everyone, plus the staff is always friendly and attentive. Even when it’s busy, the service holds up. It’s also a great stop if you’re biking the Interurban Trail.

Overall, Café Hollander is one of my go-to spots in Mequon. Whether you're there for a casual drink, a full meal, or a weekend brunch, you won’t be disappointed.

We love this location! It’s not our first time to Cafe Hollander, but it is to this particular one. Cool vibe with LOTS of seating! Upstairs, covered patio, outdoor patio!

Great for local items like cheese curds and pretzels with cheese sauce. Burgers are fantastic - love the presentation!
They have a pretty varied menu, so everyone can get what they want - perfect for a big group where everyone can find something they like. The mussels were great! Delicious salad options!

Took my mom here for Mother’s Day brunch and we had a great time! We made a reservation and had no wait. Our server was Aiden and he was friendly and attentive. Ordered take out today for an early dinner. Cafe Hollander has yummy food. No denying that. However there needs to be some fixes to to-go orders. I ordered the yogurt with apples, sliders and frites. And yes all those items were in the same bag. SMH the fries were soggy and I was given a tablespoon of one of my sauces. The sliders were fine seemed like they were sitting awhile. My order was ready at 4. I got there around 4:05. Just seems like there needs to be some better systems for take out orders. With a total spent of $42 please get better with takeout.

Was here on a Wednesday night in January with the family. It was the only restaurant in the area that is still open. We didn’t want to drive far from this area because one of my child had sports activity in the area.
Very healthy food selections. They do have a kids menu and I love that fruits and vegetables came as sides for them.
The grande cafe club I ordered, the bacon avocado chicken wrap and the salad tasted ok. I felt like I could have made the same thing at home too.
The bruschetta flat bread was really good and it came in a really good portion for its price.

The company i work for had out Holiday party here and everything was amazing. From the drinks to the service everything was excellent and very good very tasty and overall great. This place really seems hit or miss, by a large margin. Either it’s great, or terrible and you’ll have to park way down the hill 200 yards away. Seriously. We’ve had excellent experiences an hour before they close when the bartenders are happy, friendly. But during Sunday brunch time, it’s a completely different experience. I’ve never seen such a crabby bartender - that constantly complained about the taps not working right. Like I should care? Our whole group got sass. And I dunno, for 12 bucks, I expect my bloody to come in an actual glass and not a tiny “can glass”.

The size of things is also my other main gripe. “Asian breakfast bowl” is one egg, about half a cup of rice and two tablespoons of shredded beef. For 17 dollars. Cmon.

Lastly, an adult brought me this beer… with a straight face. I’ve had countless Triple Karmeliet pour, never half that head. I guess for a premium price, I expect a premium pour and a decent portion. What is cheaper than rice? Or ice to fill an actual pint glass with a bloody? Food was all pretty decent, you’ll just leave hungry.

220$ for 6 people. I don’t think any of us will be back for quite a while…

The whole chain has been one of my favorite restaurants since moving to Milwaukee 22 years ago. This restaurant is not that old, but has the same feel, food, and beer choices. I love the versatility of the floor plan, and the multiple garage doors that provide an open outdoor feeling in nicer weather.

I go above and beyond with anything I do. I did not catch the lady name but I had asked if she knew of the address or if there was any apartment above the restaurant. Her words, “I don’t know there multiple apartments around this place what I do know is that this is Hollander.”and kind of pushed me out the door. Lady I know where I just walked into. (Shaking my head) I kept calm and said ok thank you. She said nothing back. I kept walking towards the door. I did not like how I was looked at nor treated or made felt with the nasty look upon her face. I decided to ignore it and to go with peace because I know I did nothing wrong. Maybe walked into a place of business not dressed properly because I wasn’t expecting to. She had on all blue is all I know. It’s sad because I love this place especially in the winter but I normally go to Brookfield. If I ever get a chance to get her name or meet again I will post it. If I was dining there on this day I’m sure I would have just walked out and headed somewhere else

C H graciously took 23 of us for a wedding rehearsal brunch on a Friday, and then 25 of us for a post wedding weekend brunch, with no complaint. The food was delicious, and there was no complaint regarding the service . Thank you!!

The Gluten-free bun my wife had was just ok, but the rest of the flavors were really good.

Disappointed, the burger was dry and all you could taste was charcoal. Pricey for quality. Service was slow, and not due to being busy. Music was a bit loud. Ok choices, but nothing was really all that good.

Have come to Cafe Hollander the last seven years for the annual winefest in September; and it seems every time I visit there's some issue regarding our reservation. I'm here right now doing this review. I made a reservation for 12 as always; and requested to sit upstairs and wascassured... because I asked due to previous issues, and was told that it wouldn't be a problem, but as in times before I arrive with my party and they suddenly have a private party. I think we'll find another place to spend our money at for future events and visits.

Great service and delicious food. We got there 30 minutes before they closed and the bartender was very gracious and informed us ahead of time that the kitchen would be closing soon and then waited patiently while we ordered. Food came out quickly and was delicious as usual.
