We ordered the 4 piece broasted chicken with an extra breast, when it was delivered to our table the outer skin was burnt to a crisp as in almost black, and the one bite we took tasted burnt and you couldn't tell the pieces apart because they were crusted together. Sent it back to the owner. He asked if we would like to reorder it or try something different. We tried something different that wouldn't take as long because he said it would take another 20 minutes or so. When the new food ( won't comment there) was delivered he said the chicken came out burnt that way because it was last in the fryer. That's a lame excuse. That should never have even been sent to a customer. We were still charged for our full meals. Not even a discount!! Oh wait, we got a $2 beer. Woo hoo!! Gave this place a second chance after hearing they had a new cook. We will not be returning!!!!

We enjoyed ordering specific food here until they made a big jump in their prices. The food is not worth what they charge now, the pizza is bland, and not very flavorful. So we had already decided not to order it again after ordering it twice. We enjoyed the large order of cheese curds often, wings and specific sandwiches, until the massive price hike. We get more of the same food for a much cheaper bill (and better quality) from a bar and grill in Medford. Really is a shame they spiked their prices as much as they did, 30% or more! If you want more bang for your buck in not just quantity but also flavor and quality, just go to Medford. So disappointed in Camp 28. Their price, location and some good food were great, but now they've lost us as costumers indefinitely. There is also a older woman who works as a server, we hadn't tipped her the last couple of times, she swore in front of our children, and at least 3 times had told us we couldn't order the large cheese curds without the jalapeño curds. We had ordered it multiple times without the jalapeño. She could not keep up with her small amount of tables. We stopped tipping her specifically because she does not do well at her job.

We booked our stay at Camp 28 from July 21-24 but ended up checking out a day early due to significant issues with our room. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed a strong musty odor, and the floor was wet and damp. Additionally, the towels provided were visibly dirty, which is entirely unacceptable.

Another issue we encountered was that the door lacked proper blackout curtains or coverings, allowing sunlight to shine directly into the room, significantly impacting our comfort and privacy.

When we checked out early on Wednesday morning, my wife communicated our concerns to a staff member, who assured us they would inform the owner. Unfortunately, no one from Camp 28 has reached out since to address or resolve our complaints.

Given our disappointing experience, including cleanliness issues, room discomfort, and the absence of follow-up from management, we will not be returning. We sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously to improve the experience for future guests.

A group of us went out to eat here for lunch and we were not impressed at all. The food was very low quality. We were not informed prior to paying that there was only a buffet available and that it would be $30 a person. The food was very disappointing. They were serving “strawberry shortcake” that tasted cornbread with frozen strawberries. Additionally one of my friends found a piece of hair in his water and the rest of the food was not very appetizing. Overall it was a very disappointing experience especially as we had been here before and really enjoyed the food

We had originally gotten to our reserved room to find that the housekeeper had not gotten to it yet BUT; I believe his name was Darby, was very quick to get us into a new upgraded room. There was another gentlemanly worker who came up to our room with us to make sure all was in order. They were very apologetic and quick to fix any issue we had! That hospitality alone will have us coming back!

Wow! The people working here were incredibly nice this weekend, and the food we had for breakfast on Sunday morning was stellar. I think that was the best corned beef hash I have ever had. The view from our room was beautiful. 10/10, will definitely be back. We ordered 3 entrees and 4 alcoholic drinks during breakfast and our bill was only $49, an amazing deal for some really amazing food. Love this place! They normally do not open the bar until 11 AM, but they happily served me a Bloody when I rolled down the stairs at 9 AM this morning.

We have been coming here to eat for years. There have maybe been two or three times where we had a minor issue with something and it was always addressed quickly and completely. 95% of the time this has been one of the top choices for us. It is delicious food, absolute attention to detail at an amazing price you just can't find these days. We can get appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert for a price we could not get in bigger city and the thing is, it is soooo tasty! I almost don't want to tell people about it cuz I don't want them to ruin this little beautiful experience in rib lake. I think about retirement in rib lake honestly, it is just such an escape from the stupid rat race and this place is exceptional quality.

I arrived when I said I would (5 PM) but there was no one there to get me the room. I called the after-hours number but no one answered so I left a voicemail. Some people doing work in the area were staying there, and they gave me a phone number for the owner but no one answered. I tried the after-hours number a few more times over the course of 40 minutes, and someone finally answered. He said his on-call person was AWOL but someone would be there in 10 minutes. They arrived after I waited a total of 50 minutes and he set me up with a room. It would have been nice if he would have offered me a slight discount for the inconvenience, but that didn't happen.

The room was clean and the shower was spectacular. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were flat and very uncomfortable. Some traffic noise but overall pretty quiet.

Part of the reason I chose this place was the restaurant, but it was closed that day so I drove to a different restaurant in town.

Overall this place did not meet my expectations, but if they get their shit together I would consider staying again in the future.

We only ate in the restaurant. May daughter Katie Knestis (from Denver) hit it on the head in her review. I'm from Rib Lake (originally) and my heart has always wished the best for Camp 28. If you set expectations that you are on "lake time" and service could be slow if they are busy (we sat down right after a large party was sat) you will be OK. I understand from others the food can be awesome and my Smokehouse Burger was. Some of the others' food was disappointing from a taste-temperature standpoint. The place has great atmosphere and the lake view. Keep it up Camp 28 and work on the consistency. Always wishing you success!!

We only ate at the restaurant. Our server was nice but service was slow and food was mediocre. I had the BBQ Mac n cheese, BBQ pork was good but the mac was meh. My dad liked the smokehouse burger. Others had the fish sandwich, which he said was overcooked and had too much breading, and the wings, which were cold inside and came in a soup bowl of sauce...
Sounds like feelings have really been mixed on this place recently, lots of hopes for it but not fulfilling.

We keep saying we won't come back. Unfortunately it's one of the few places to get food in the area. Without exaggeration, every time we go here, we order something that is apparently out. (Wings, cheese curds, burgers) very staple items. There are four of us. That's four different orders, yet something always happens. Since they opened back up, we have stopped about seven times. And seven times, have been disappointed. This will be the last time we stop.

Camp 28 is a place to spend a few nights the staff was amazing the rooms clean and spacious, the bar the perfect space to watch the Packers play and the dining room was spacious to enjoy a wonderful meal and to see a wonderful view of Rib Lake. There is a special parking for RVs around back that is easy access and maneuverable to get in and out.

I had dinner one night in the restaurant and even though the freezers went down overnight, they managed to still make one of the very best burgers I have ever had. All the staff were so friendly. The rooms were clean and nice, and I definitely would stay there again. Three stars is just being honest. It's not a luxurious high end room that costs $500/night. It was clean, comfortable and I definitely would stay there again and would recommend you stay here too.

The best part of this place is the restuarant. Fantastic food. I lived in Chicago for 20 years and have been to plenty of steak houses there. Arguably, I had the best steak I've ever had, better than any I've had at places like Ruth Chris, Morton's, Gibson's, RPM, Tango Sur, etc and better yet it was reasonably priced. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and served with a side of sauces that weren't even necessary. They've also had live music on the nights I've been there. So if you're in the area looking for a nice place to stay, or great place to eat, I highly recommend stopping here!

I wanted to love this place but was disappointed. Went here for dinner a few weeks ago with my Husband and 5 kids. My Daughter and I both ordered a fish fry. Neither of us received a dinner roll or soup/salad (I believe the menu stated that was included with our dinner) our fish was also served with no tartar sauce and we weren't offered any. So I paid $18 for a piece of fish and some mashed potatoes. Although I will say the burger my other daughter ordered was very good and the fries were good also.

Best food around, the ribs are phenomenal as an appetizer or a meal, the camp burger may be the best burger I’ve ever had, the gluten free camp bbq pizza (if they have it for those allergic) is incredible too. Can’t forget some chili to warm up with and a point root beer on tap with some wild turkey to wash it all down. Love having this place in town!

I’m a travel nurse who has stayed here for the last 6 weeks. This has been a wonderful experience. Everyone is so friendly and helpful from the owners, to the restaurant staff, bartenders, and housekeepers. Very clean accommodations. Food is always good at the restaurant. Great drinks at the bar. Camp 28 is clean, simple, and very well priced. The staff is friendly and makes you feel like a friend they haven't seen in a long time as soon as you walk in the door.

It is not fancy, but the bed is clean, the sheets smell like they were freshly washed and the bathrooms were clean in the room and the restaurant.

The food at the restaurant was good, and the price was unbeatable. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, added bacon and paid 8 dollars with a cup of coffee. They only offer breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, but their lunch hours start early.

The views from the hotel and restaurant are beautiful with Rib Lake right across the road.
I stayed overnight on my way to Ice Age Trail.
I would stay here again and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a home-like stay.

We stopped in on a quiet Thursday afternoon, and I had what might have been the best pot roast I've ever had at a restaurant. Yes I gave it five stars. Is it a five star hotel, no. But that's the point. It's small, local, friendly, laid back, and relaxing. It's beautiful and quiet. Sleep with the windows open. The food is good. The owners are friendly and take care of you. I had a great week. Looking forward to coming back.

Ok, this place is closed at the moment but it's a great location with a wonderful restaurant and bar. The view from the rooms is stunning overlooking the lake and the dining area is full, I mean full of photos and memorabilia from the area that is preserved beautifully. This hotel/restaurant/bar is a part of my family and I hope it opens again soon!! Please?
