In July 2025, I stopped in at the Cancun Mexican Grill. They served burnt chips along with two dipping sauces. The tomato salsa was good, but the other sauce tasted like ranch dressing mixed with sour cream.

I ordered the Mazatlán, which includes one shrimp quesadilla and one shrimp and crab enchilada, served with rice and lettuce. The shrimp quesadilla lacked flavor, and the shrimp were overcooked. The rice was bland. The crab enchilada was the best dish, featuring a tasty sauce.

Like many Tex-Mex restaurants, Cancun Mexican Grill seems to avoid spicy flavors that might challenge Midwestern palates used to milder food. Instead, it relies heavily on cheese to add flavor. One thing I’ll never understand is the habit of serving cold lettuce on a hot plate.

Overall, you’ll find more flavorful food at Taco Bell for a fraction of the price.

The server was very kind and even entered the Wi-Fi password into my phone for me.

Went for Mother's Day here with family and had an absolute blast!
The food is better than I remember it before COVID! It was well cooked, had layered flavoring, and tasted authentic Mexican, rather than mid western and bland. The salsa has a nice kick, can add habenero to spicy it up even more!

It's been a little bit since I'd last come here, but I just went today and everything seems to have improved since my last visit. Their food and drinks were never bad, but they're still notably better now. I'm not sure if they went under new management or if they got new staff or if they just made some changes, but it's working well.

The drinks were fantastic. My husband got literally the best mojito I've ever tasted. It had a lot of flavor. I got their homemade mango limonada and it was also very tasty and refreshing.

The complimentary chips and salsas were also amazing. Their salsa has more of a kick now than it did before, which is a big improvement in my eyes.

We'll definitely be coming back more often. Keep up the great work!

My boyfriend and I came in for a late lunch yesterday. I recently moved to the area and we're trying to visit more restaurants in the area.
Our food and drinks came out super fast. There was a bit of a mix up with his chimichanga, but they made it right no problem.

Buyer beware! If you are using a credit/debit card keep your receipt. My meal was 17.41 with tax I told them to give a 3.30 making the total 20.71. When I checked my bank account I was charged 27.41. I tried to call back multiple times and was told that the owner would have to look into it even though they found my transaction. I have not heard back from the owner or anyone else. The only option I was given was to drive out to the restaurant to get the money back in cash but I was in town for a meeting and live more than an hour away.

Every time my wife and I go to Cancun in Menomonie, we are treated with very good service. Our host immediately took us to our table, brought us tortilla chips and salsa, and were asking what we would like for drinks. When the drinks were delivered, we made our order and was served in under 10 minutes.
The food was delicious and abundant to where our server brought us a carry out box without us asking when we were too full to continue. I will be eating more delicious meals from Cancun at home after our visit.

I recently visited Cancun Grill in Menomonie, Wisconsin, and my experience was a bit mixed. Unfortunately, the burrito I ordered lacked the vibrant flavors I was hoping for. Twenty minutes to close I called to make sure we could be served. Bar tender said “come on in we will serve you”. We walked in and, it’s our first time here so we aren’t sure, so I asked if we just seat ourselves and bar tender says to just pick our seat and we will be waited on. So it’s a very laid back atmosphere. It was ten pm so only a few college kids were there.
Waiter (I’m guessing was a manager or proprietor) was prompt to wait on us and very kind. We’d immediately had been served chips and salsa that my husband could have drank he loved it so much! Both were so fresh and chips were warm. A very sweet lady got us two horchatas that was the perfect choice to go with our food. My husband ordered a burrito that was ginormous, three tacos de asada. I ordered the (you pick two)combo with cheese enchilada and chicken tostada that came with rice and beans. The portions were great and the flavor was nothing less than authentic. This was a meal my mom, aunts and I would make at home for the family. Being so far from home in Chicago where you can find authentic so easily, we got so lucky this restaurant was so close and my first choice. The price was incredible and the portions were amazing so we are now loyal customers. We just plan to go a little earlier next time to beat the quickly built college crowd. Over all we are so incredibly happy and look forward to trying out the entire menu!

The server said that this location does not offer a free kids meal on Sundays. Very disappointing. Also, this location charges three dollars for each small cup of cheese sauce, as opposed to one dollar at the other locations. Without a word, the server added $12 to our bill for the extra three cheese cups. Rip off! The chicken chimichanga was chock full of black pepper. Too much! Also, the seafood Vallarta enchiladas at this location barely include any crab, just a few whole shrimp. Sad!

Ordered a chimachanga. I was at my last bite when I found a peice of plastic in the meat. It looked like half of those square pieces of plastic that you use to seal a loaf of bread or bag of tortillas. I told the waiter and all he did was say, " yea, sorry about that..."
That's all I got. I thought at least they would not make me pay for that meal because finding a 1/2inch piece of plastic in my food. Nope still had to pay for it.
Now I'm scared I might have eaten plastic. The food was delicious excluding the plastic.
