We have been looking for our “go to” Mexican restaurant but everything we tried around the Appleton area was so disappointing. We found this restaurant tonight & it was great! We enjoyed the atmosphere, the service was friendly & professional, & the food was SO GOOD! We will be back!!!

Worst mexican I've had. Ordered an appetizer of guacamole & chips. When I opened my take out bag, I thought it was a joke the size of the tiny cup they put it in. Only ate one bite. It was terrible. Both of our dishes were undercooked and sour. Tasted like old food past it's expiration.

Casa Rivera (formerly El Agave) had fresh food with big flavors. The tortillas were even piping hot. The staff, presumably the owners included, were hustling to get everything out in a timely fashion. The atmosphere is better than most. The lighting is nice, and they play the proper festive music. !Que rico y caliente¡ Great location near the Kimberly Kwik Trip, too. See you next time, amigos.

I'm going to start this review off by sharing two things: I grew up in the restaurant business, and I love Mexican food. I came here once in April and enjoyed my experience for the most part. The service was really slow, seems like a family run operation and maybe not enough staff. The food was very good though and that is important to me. We went again this week and had a similar experience. It doesn't seem like the two FOH staff they had seem very experienced and we ended up waiting quite a long time for certain things except paying the bill haha. My friend got the quesabirria platter and I got tacos and a tamal. The tacos were nothing special but this place seriously has some good tamales, tried two different ones so far and both were very good. My friend said his birria was good but the consomé broth wasn't, I tried it and can confirm it was not good. This place is really close to becoming something special but they need competent wait staff, a bartender, host, manager, and probably some advertising to get people in the door because the food really is that good!

Found this restaurant on line. Saw great reviews, so decided to try it out. What a wonderful experience. It did not disappoint. Service was great and food yummy and generous portions.

Trying a new spot was an epic fail for my family. Arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday evening. I explained I had a gluten allergy the server didn’t seem to fully understand me, kept asking if I need more time… frustrated and not knowing how anything was prepared my son and husband ordered and I sat and watched them eat. Not a gluten safe and not very good communication.

I was in town for business and my ritual out of town dinner is going out for Mexican food. I must say this is Casa Rivera is by far the best I have had, the molcajete is absolutely amazing and could easily feed two. The service was top notch and very friendly. If they were located in Ohio near me they would have a line out the door and I would definitely be a regular!

Took our out of town visitors to Casa Rivera on our 1st visit & all 4 of us really enjoyed everything. The service, food & drinks were all terrific! The staff is so welcoming, friendly & efficient & the food was great & the portions huge. The margaritas were great! We will definitely be back! Thank you for a great night out!

My husband and I had long days at our jobs and we wanted to relax with some good Mexican food. We went here for the first time. My mango margarita was hands-down the best ever! I had the quesabirria and it was so delicious. Didn’t catch our waitress’s name, but she was very kind! Thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

We went there last night, I ordered a burrito and my wife ordered the birria tacos. My burrito came out lukewarm and the cheese wasn’t even melted, the steak in the burrito was overcooked and barely any other ingredients. Doesn’t come with any sides and no sauce on it.

I tried my wife’s birria and wow it tasted old and like it was sitting back there and they just heated it up. Not crunchy and fell apart when I picked it up.
When I got home i didn’t feel good and it ended up coming out of both ends needless to say.

I normally don’t write reviews, but I for one would want to hear about a bad experience before trying a new place. They are very nice people, but you go to places for the food and I for one won’t be back.
