Love this place, we come to WI seasonally and this is always an enjoyable tradition. Our service was fast. The olive burger crushed it, French onion soup was delish...ate the hand cut cheese curds before I could snap a pic...they are huge and literally the best I've ever had. My husband had a 5$ special which was also huge and he got the home made potato chips...so good! I was doing a dry month so the waitress suggested a NA gin mocktail...very good and they also have a full bar of anything you could want.
There are some really negative reviews in here and I dont under it because everytime we come here its perfect.

3 stars for service is because it took over an hour to get our food. Our server remained pleasant despite ppl leaving because the food was taking so long. Once we got it, the food was good. I had the pork chop, the other 3 in our party had the fish. They need more staff. My drink, the Wisconsin wine o Rita was really good. The place was very loud though. We didn't venture outside but the patio looked cute & had live music.

I bought a gift card that gave me 2 fish fry’s for a year at a benefit in February 2024. I went to use it in November and she said this is expired. I tried to explain to the owner when I bought it but she said I was wrong and it’s no longer good. So I lost 4 months of fish fry’s. I will never go there again. Did not appreciate how the owner treated me.

Great dinner and drinks. The restaurant seating was in the bar area which was pretty loud (that might be a Tuesday night thing - might be different on the weekend). Service was a little slow but, we weren’t in a hurry. The place definitely has an up north vibe.

There were five of us and only two enjoyed their dinners. The cheese curd coating was greasy, the burger was not cooked well, and one of my chicken pieces was a deep-fried rib bone...no meat. That was not okay. The lettuce was good and so were the cooked veggies.
As for the service, our waitress was too busy cleaning tables and prepping for closing, which was over an hour away, to take care of her customers. She didn't come back to see what we wanted. She didn't come back to fill our drink order. And she threw a salad down in front of me when I was all done eating because she forgot about it at the beginning of the meal.
The menu online had a lot more to offer than the menu we received there. The place seemed just average for atmosphere. If their food and service is always like what we had tonight, I would not recommend it.

This unassuming, classic up-north roadside bar and grill is a delicious treasure that locals and out of towners can appreciate. The food is top-notch with no detail spared in the preparation, presentation, and consumption. The desserts are exceptional, the drinks are reasonable and interesting (though they do sell the buckets for those who want familiarity). I had the walleye fish fry and my side kick had the brisket burger and we became members of the empty plate club. The night we arrived - they had live music, and a glorious outdoor patio that made summer come alive. We highly recommend this for anyone looking for a treasure hunt. The owners were genuine and so very nice. I felt like I was treated like a well loved regular.

We have a cabin on the lake and have always headed to Birchwood for food. We decided to try Cedar Lake Grill. It’s was amazing! Surf and turf, salmon and orange chicken were excellent! Great drinks and service. A band was playing indoors because of the weather. We are heading back for more! Our new favorite place up north!

Iconic local family-run restaurant with small town friendly vibe. We visited late October on a Saturday night and the joint was jumping: families, groups of fellas watching basketball, couples, kids. The food: not your average burgers- these are creative and substantial. Like onion rings—so good! House made sides! We ate well. Did I mention cocktails? Try the Brandy Manhattan — a Wisconsin classic.

Do not get the fried Walleye, there was so much oil on the plate it was a 1/4 inch deep, fries were soggy from it. Cheese curds are not cheese curds, they are 2x2 inch squares and taste more like grilled cheese. My kids who love cheese curds hated them. Also the service was sub par. I know they are short but still, we are okay with it when the service is still good.

While I have only ever had take out from here, the atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. For me, my go to is the Friday night Fish Fry. A good size order and great flavor. Pair it with a side of their large cheese curds. The curds are big and just full of cheesy goodness.
I have had the chicken tender melt as well and it’s definitely a solid sandwich. Ribs and chicken on Sunday is a good choice too.

Great spot for a weeknight dinner with the family or for takeout when you don’t feel like cooking.

We have been coming there since the late 70ies and the last three times the waiting was out of control!
1-1/2 + hours after ordering when other received there orders after coming in 1/2 hour after us...
We had 5 children under 7 Years old waiting this long...
Bill of $564.00 with no adjustments and we left a tip on top of gratuity because is was not the fault of the waitress...

This is THE place to go if you love a cozy atmosphere. I could go on and on about to welcoming and homey environment in this bar. It wouldn't let me give a 0 star. Live locally and went there food was absolutely gross. Chix strip was so burnt it was hard to chew. Didn't receive our salads. The bartender was slow and didn't want to do much. A waitress actually went and got my pick up order. The mushroom were horribly chewy had to spit it out of mouth due to the chewiness. Today was our 2nd visit. The 1st visit was pleasant with good food. Unfortunately I can't say we had the same experience. The atmosphere and staff are great, but the food was not so good. I ordered the side salad (which all the lettuce and veggies were amazing) with blue cheese and French dressing. My blue cheese ended up to be sour cream. 🤮 We both ordered the Alfredo with shrimp. The pasta was not even warm, and the shrimp was deep fried and tossed on top. Such a let down from our first experience. No attempt was made to offset our experience, which furthered the let down. Lesson learned with high buck dog food in our doggy bag. Jury is still out on IF we will return.

After the former chef parted ways there, the quality of their food has plummeted astronomically at Cedar Lake Grill. Their customer service was horrible, but I am a person of color and seen the difference that white customers received versus what my Latino family received. They were curt and difficult to flag down for service. Even ordered their signature "backyard burger" and it tasted like something out of your backyard trash can. If you want great tasting food and a place where everyone is welcome then do not stop at this place.
