What an unexpected gem near Ladysmith. Sandwich was a Patty Melt honestly the best one I’ve ever experienced in 66 years. Jared the owner is friendly, attentive and very sweet. Bar menu is extensive. We drive 47 miles to get there, but this restaurant alone was worth the trip. We will spread the word and definitely return. Please try this place will have no regrets.

A little disappointed, ordered our food and knew it would be a while because of how busy it was but being told 4 times that our food is on its way and after an hour still didn't have any food yet we decided to let them know we were no longer hungry and told them we were leaving. 😔
Need better explanation of why it was taking so long.
Decided to stop at Dairy Queen and got our food in 10 minutes. Not what we were hungry for but it did not disappoint.

I should’ve took a picture. I ordered the wings with a sweet chili sauce and a baked potato loaded. It was amazing., The wings were huge And cooked to perfect perfection the blue cheese was amazing as well if you’re ever out this way in Ladysmith, make sure you take a detour over here for lunch. We were there on a Thursday at 4 pm early for supper. Appetizer deep-fried mushrooms are very good. Salads both caesar and house salads ~ good. Main entrees ~ deep fried shrimp and coconut shrimp amazing taste. Brandy old fashions very tasty. We enjoyed our entire visit.
Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We are planning another trip back to try more on the menu.

I don’t usually write a review but Cedar Lodge deserves my praise.

We had our senior dinner at Cedar Lodge near Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and honestly, it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.

The chicken was perfect—not dry at all. It was soft and juicy in a way that’s actually hard to find. You didn’t need to cut it too much; it just came apart. The flavor wasn’t overpowering, just balanced and well-cooked.

The fries were a surprise. I’ve had fries in Belgium, where they’re supposed to be the best, but these were unique. Crunchy on the outside, soft inside, not greasy. Just really good.

Then the cheese curds—probably the best part. Crispy on the outside, melty and warm inside, no weird aftertaste. Exactly how cheese curds should be.

Even the lemonade was great. Just the right amount of sour without tasting fake or sugary.

And the service? Friendly and chill. Just normal people doing a good job and making you feel comfortable.

The place itself felt quiet and welcoming. It wasn’t trying to impress you—it didn’t need to. Everything was just done well, which is rare.

If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend. Actually, even from distance, you can drop by. Because It’s easily one of the best resto I’ve ever encountered in my 3 cross-continental settling across years.

6 of us were traveling together through the area and did a quick Google search of places to eat, this popped up so we viewed the menu and took a little detour to visit them.
Let me tell you it was some of the BEST FOOD any of us have ever had
Unbelievable flavor and portion size
We all literally passed out dishes around so we could all sample the best home cooked food.
I would give this place 10 stars if possible
The staff was very friendly and attentive to us, the place was clean well lit and all around a cozy atmosphere
EXCELLENT experience to say the least and price point didn’t break the bank

In town for wrestling and stopped here for dinner afterwards. First time but won't be the last time. A lot of homemade ingredients which is hard to come by! Alabama Slammer was fantastic. My wife really enjoyed the Friso Melt and our young adult child rated the Coconut Shrimp with parmesan Fry's very high. we have been several times and never disappointed. The service has always been great. It can be very busy, but we have enjoyed each visit.

This place is hit or miss. I have been there a few times. First time I went everything was fine. Not great, but okay. 2nd time I went everything was excellent. Last time I was there, waitress ignored us. Took another table's order before us although we got there at least 10 minutes before them. Once we got our food, mine was cold and my guest's burger bun was burnt. There were other people there so I chose not to make a scene so I chose to send a message after I got back home. Whomever messaged me back basically told me I should have said something. I explained why I didn't. Then I was ignored. No apologies or even asked how they could make it right. Last time I waste my time and hard earned money on a plane who clearly doesn't care.

Talk about the best fish fry! If you like a tempura type coating, with flakey cod, this is the place.

I was there for beers earlier in the week. You can tell the customer's care about the staff and vice versa. The space behind the bar is tight and everyone was super accommodating to each other.

To the owners, great experience and teamwork, while you were away from the "office". Only recommendation is to cut back on the sodium; I had cheesy hash browns this visit and soup a different visit. Less is more.

I really really wanted to love this. We went there for fish fry and it was less than spectacular. Now mind you I am very picky about my fish fries. But the walleye, wasn't walleye. This was a thick firm fish not a white flakey delicious fish. It tasted of a muddy fish cooked in old oil. Everything was over seasoned to the max! The garlic parmesan fries had so much they were inedible. The food was semi warm at best. There were so many cons and not enough pros to this place I will unfortunately not be returning.

Really wanted to like this place. Looked forward to it on a recommendation. Loved the idea that it was a cabin in the middle of nowhere and that was just what we wanted, thinking it would be quiet and have good home cooking there. Was there on a Friday for lunch on what was an "off hour", so not at noon when they'd be busy for lunch. The food is ok, but the restaurant was filled with flies. We could barely eat, there were so many flies buzzing around the table. They kept landing in our food. Table was pretty sticky and don't think it had been cleaned between servings. The condiments were dirty on the tops, with black grunge of some sort. The menus were pretty dirty too. Server was trying to be nice, but it would have been better if she'd smile less, talk softer, and be more genuine. I think the place is really a bar that serves food, too. If you go in expecting "bar" and "bar food" you might be ok, but that isn't really us, so we won't be returning.

My husband and I along with four friends had dinner at Cedar Lodge on December 23, 2023. On our way out, we purchased a hoodie sweatshirt for a gift and needed to return it. The restaurant was closed until after the New Year so we stopped back on Jan 14, 2024 a little before 4pm. The server that served our table and rung up the sweatshirt happened to be there so I thought great, she’ll remember me. Well, she didn’t and was not helpful.

She informed me of their “policy” of clothing items being non refundable but are able to exchange it for a different size. That was not communicated to me when I made the purchase and she did not give me a receipt for the purchase though it is on my credit statement as a separate purchase from our dinner bill. If it was communicated to me that I would not be able to return it, I would not have purchased it because it was for a gift. When I shared with her I wish I would have been told about not being able to return any of the clothing items, she said I can call on Wednesday and talk to the owner. I’m going to call on Wed and will update this review should the owner choose to do the right thing.

I felt this server did not offer any level of care with her customer service. She acted like it was no big deal. It’s a big deal to me. I was not only appalled but completely livid. It took everything in me to walk out of there without making a scene. To be clear, it’s not the “policy” I have a problem with, it’s the fact that it was not communicated to me during the purchase or clearly stated on a receipt. A receipt was not provided to me and I’m guessing the “policy” is not stated on the receipt even if I had been given one. How can something be a “policy” if your customers are not informed of what it is?

We have been to Cedar Lodge many times for lunch and dinner. We have introduced friends and family to this restaurant. This disappointing experience with not being able to return a $35 sweatshirt will result in me never going to this establishment ever again. Our dinner bill from Dec 23 was over $300, this sweatshirt is $35 - I don’t understand how not allowing me to return a sweatshirt I bought as a gift makes good business sense because I will never go there ever again. I will also be sharing this terrible experience with everyone I know and on every online channel for others to read.

We deer hunt up in this area, and go here every Saturday of opening gun season for dinner with a group of usually around 12 people. They always make some room for us, and have very good steak and prime rib specials. It is a part of our trip I really look forward to each season!

What an awesome experience! We stopped here on a recommendation from our hotel and wow! Cozy, great food, the staff was awesome. They looked you in the eye and you can tell they work from their passion and heart. 1st time ever dropping by, but we will happily drive 4 hours to visit again. I Have always suggested the lodge but am not satisfied with the cooking anymore? Seems as though the cooking quality has slipped as business has gotten better. Have been very disappointed by the food I have gotten the past several times, returning hoping it was a bad day or something... The last time I was there got Smokey Patty Melt burger of month and requested the bread be toasted more and received toast from a toaster as opposed to grilled patty melt. Atleast it was crunchy the last one was not toasted hardly at all prompting the request. I messaged them on Facebook and received no response, since it appears there is no need to even acknowledge the complaint it must mean they don't even care a local patron had an issue.

The burgers are awesome, but Friday night fish was, unfortunately, a huge disappointment. It took almost two hours to get our fish, and only one of us in our party of 4 had warm fish. The rest was overcooked and cold. Besides that, the burgers were awesome.
