My husband and I have been coming here pretty often and have invited family members to come here as well and we all love it however, yesterday we decided to have breakfast here and I ordered the griddlers, the food tasted great like always but upon eating the second sandwich, I noticed a ton of white hairs sticking out of the bread, and a brown one… I immediately stopped eating and then felt a little sick to my stomach because I already ate one sandwich and didn’t realize. I notified our waitress and she took the plate to let her manager know which was nice, however she came back and let me know they were thankful I pointed it out for future orders being made to keep and eye out… well my meal was ruined and no discount was offered or a remake to take home. Our meal which included two entrees and two juices and a coke was $50 not including the tip. I feel like when you’re paying this amount, you expect the upmost quality and your food to be edible. Unfortunately mine was not, and I did not think this customer service was great, our waitress even mentioned “well the bread is crumbles so maybe it’s just that… “ no, there were long fuzzy like hairs sticking out, definitely not the bread… my husband verified as well, super disappointing because we spend a lot of money here. Not sure we will be back if this is how they take care of these kind of situations, when your customers are spending a lot of money, you need to ensure your food is very high quality and edible. Almost Half of my meal was trashed.

I wouldn't change a thing about the Central Grand Cafe and Tap Room. Lunch was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Two of us had the chicken pesto sandwich which we loved! They also had three quality varieties of NA beer, which is something I look for in a taproom. Patrons included couples, retirees, small groups, and a business lunch group. Terrific!

Food is amazing. Drinks, equally so. But the service leaves you wanting. We ordered bottomless mimosas this past weekend but in the 2.5 hours we were there, only got served two. I stress again the 2.5 hours of waiting around with empty glasses, every dish still on our table, and our waiter no where to be seen. We keep coming back for the food - the brunch is amazing - but each we leave complaining about something with the service.

This place has been on my list for a while so I was excited to try it for dinner. First of all I love the atmosphere inside, it's very open and has a pretty interior design with a large open bar. They have a large dink menu including a wide selection of beers and cocktails. I had the chili salmon cucumber bowl which was so good I would order it again. The flavor was incredible and the salmon was cooked perfectly. They also have kids menus available for the little ones.

I would have loved to check out their patio but it was way too hot when we went, so I'll guess I'll have to go back to check out their patio and brunch!

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant, and it is surprisingly large. I was pleasantly surprised not to have to wait for a table during prime brunch time on a Saturday because it looked so busy. The fried chicken sandwich had good flavor but wasn't super crispy. I really enjoyed the ahi tuna nachos appetizer, but the wonton chips were definitely a tad over-salted. I loved that there was kombucha on tap, perfect for brunch! I also liked that they have such an extensive beer menu. Overall would definitely go back!

We stopped in for an early breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by how much we loved this spot. The Tomatoes and Mushrooms Omelet was absolutely amazing—fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The real standout, though, was the Crispy Avocado Eggs Benedict—crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and topped with perfectly poached eggs. So good!

The vibe was cozy and inviting, with a touch of European charm, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Whether you're just grabbing a casual breakfast or meeting friends for brunch, Centraal is definitely worth a visit.

We got married here in the courtyard Oct 2024 and it was amazing. The staff was amazing from the time we stepped in to look at the space to the day of the wedding. We didn’t give ourselves much time to plan so it was just wonderful to see how everything came together. Ashley the manager and Molly the event planner answered every question we had and provided so many ideas for how to make our special day come to be. The day of the wedding there staff was on top of everything. They were so attentive and caring I'm forever grateful for the experience.

My 6 year old son is disabled this is his favorite restaurant in the city, the food is basic and always upsets my stomach but he likes it I asked the host if we could have a specific table. She said bc it’s inside of the 2 hour window there was no way she could make that happen. Instead of being accommodating Despite it being available with no other reservations then she got an attitude and said well good luck if your on your way maybe it will still be available but I will give it to someone else . Well excuse me for trying to have breakfast with my family while reducing the stress for my disabled child. A host is supposed to be kind not bad vibes. If you’re looking for service. Go elsewhere. Asking to reserve a table when I’m on my way when it’s available makes zero sense… do better, from your disabled friends

We just dined here today, as a group of four ladies from out of town our server was not overly helpful. She did not have drink recommendations and was in no rush to serve us. Just took a long time to get seated, get a box and check for a place that’s not busy. It’s not empty, but it’s plenty staffed. Petty portion - why are you in a rush to drag tables & chairs around the dining area when there are plenty of seats?? - petty portion ended.

I’d recommend going to the other lowland restaurants unless you just want the food previously mentioned.

Took my mom out on Saturday to avoid the mother's day chaos and really enjoyed my lunch here. There seemed to be a minor issue with communication between the hostess and servers as it took an unusually long time to be acknowledged by our server. These things happen and our server did his best once we were acknowledged. After that everything was excellent. My sisters are both vegetarians and found many vegan/vegetarian options.

😞I did not have a great time today. We had to wait over 1 hour for our food with our small group and people who arrived after us got their meal ahead of us. Other times, you can get decent service on a non-busy day, but I would not recommend coming here on a busy weekend.

I stopped by Café Centraal for lunch and had one of their chicken bowls, which was solid. The veggies were fresh, the chicken was juicy, and the toppings actually added flavor instead of just being there for show. The vibe inside is lively and stylish without feeling pretentious, and the patio looked like it would be a great spot when the weather's nice.

That said, it definitely gets busy. Even though we came after the lunch rush, we still had to wait a bit, and service felt stretched thin. Also, while the food was good, it’s probably about 20% more expensive than it should be for what you get. Not outrageous, but something you notice.

Such a cool fun atmosphere with wonderful outdoor seating. Excellent service & truly delicious food!!! We were greeted by the smiling face of Nolan, our server who was extremely warm, friendly & a very patient and attentive server. We ordered lemon drop martinis and they were devine!!! I have food allergies so I requested to please talk with the manager. The manager, Bug, came right to our table and listened intently to my food request and assured me that they would be sure my meal was safe for me to eat, then soon after, brought out to me a beautiful piece of grilled salmon and a fresh green salad that was all perfection. My friends ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, and the burger with sweet potato fries and basil dipping sauce and said it was absolutely wonderful!!! We ladies give this restaurant and it’s excellent staff 5+stars!!! It’s the total package for a memorable dining experience <3

Best brunch and Bloody Mary in town! Their eggs benedict has never failed to impress, and their regular chaser is always a delicious Lowlands brewery offering. Except for Belgian beer, this really is an American restaurant, but they really do those typical foods, like a grilled cheese and fries, better than other restaurants I have been to in Milwaukee. They have quite a great beer and vegetarian food selection as well.
Hit or miss with the staff though - they can either be incredibly nice, or rude hipsters who will make it known they could care less about you being there.

Cafe Centraal has changed a lot over the past 10 years. They have I feel improved the atmosphere, (it was good before also) but the food was not the best quality for the price. Came here for dinner with some family on 11/1. I ordered the grilled chicken avocado sandwich. Looking at the descriptive details, you would think the sandwich would have flavor. It did not at all. The chicken on the sandwich was not seasoned it tasted very bland. Mind you, it’s priced as $16.95. For the quality that it was, you would think it would be $12. The server we had was great and attentive. The drinks were just okay, also something you would think would have more flavor and alcohol. But, you couldn’t really taste the alcohol or the flavor profile that was suppose to be in the drink. I’ve came here for brunch before and haven’t had an issue. The food seems to be way more flavorful and worth the price. I would like to go back here for dinner at some point to see if the quality improves. Probably will be staying clear for a while though for the price point and what you get from it. It was also our family’s first time here so not the best impression for them.

Had Sunday brunch, seated right away and server, Dustin, greeted us immediately. Have all the bunch options one could ask for, with a slight unique flair to each meal. We ordered two Bayview burgers one with sweet potato friets and one with regular friets. Both burgers were cooked to our preference. However, we weren’t asked about pickles or ketchup and mustard or other condiments. We just received the burgers and friets.
The Sauvignon Blanc was delivered but the amount was less than expected. A very short pour.

We went to Centraal last Friday (10/11) with a $100 lowlands food group gift card. The check came to $100.66 and when we tried to pay with the gift card, we were told they had just started using a new system and could not accept gift cards right now. No one informed us of this when we walked in or sat down. The waitress said they could possibly offer discounts after I told her the gift card was for $100 and she said she would go talk to a manager. We waited about 15 minutes for the manager to come out and talk to us. She said there was nothing they could do and the gift card would still be valid at other lowlands restaurants and “they aren’t telling people coming in that gift cards aren’t being accepted because how are they supposed to know people will be using gift cards”. After going back and forth for some time I finally just asked if we could get any sort of discount (after the waitress had already told us they could) and she said all she could do was comp our drinks. Another 10-15 minutes go by before our waitress comes out for us to pay the check. We asked if the drinks were taken off the bill and she said “oh no the manager must have forgotten”. So she goes back and we have to wait once again. The manager finally comes back out and says that she can take our gift card, confirm it has $100 on it, and she can comp our meal. That took about another 15 minutes. Once it was finally confirmed it was $100, she said she would comp our bill. We then asked if we could tip the server and she said we would need to purchase something to be able to tip the waitress. We responded and asked if we could just pay that $0.66 left on the check and tip from that. The manager reluctantly said we could and she would send the waitress out, which took more time. Finally, after about 45 min- 1hr we finally had our tab taken care of and the waitress tipped. While the gift card was eventually accepted, this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and wasted an hour of our time on a Friday night. It's really yummy pub food. It has a really nice outdoor seating area if it's good weather. They also have a stage with live music in the evening on the weekends (I've been told)

First time last night and what can I say but I love this place! The food was just incredibly super good!! Loved the atmosphere and the service. We ordered the Baba Ganoush Flatbread, Asian Chicken Bowl and a burger. Can’t wait to go back.

Great spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks! Beer list is great. Flights are fun. Food is excellent, we had 6 different dishes for all meals and all were great. Indoor courtyard patio is the best! Reminds me of the Grand Cafes in Holland. Very much like home.

I needed my coffee on a Sunday morning and they are out! Get rid of plastic straws please - I toured all over Ireland and not one plastic straw or plastic ware. Bamboo and paper are easy, renewable alternatives. My water glass had a nasty sharp chip in it. I’m hoping the food is worth this. Nice young waiter. Hostess aloof. I do like their outdoor seating. It’s been at least 20 minutes and still no coffee.
