Room was very nice with an excellent balcony BUT for the first two hours i was there someone was using an EXTREMELY NOISY leaf blower that i could hear for over a half mile away. Not very serene.||restaurant was good although it was very busy (friday night of a 3-day weekend). the staff actually moved a table in for me, which was extremely nice. food was good also.||be prepared, however. the restaurant is not open for breakfast. there is a microwave and a fridge in the room, however so you can bring your own.

For paying $220./night for 2 persons for 2 nights, it's not right that a room is not made up at this time of year, or that breakfast is not served at this time of year. Dinner however on Fri. night was very good. We were there for a wedding, and did not know the area. Since this was half paid for and set up by the Knot, it could not easily be changed.

We used Chanticleer Inn for our many wedding guests this summer. The experience was a 5 out of 5 for sure as the staff was SO helpful in all regards from reserving a room block to our guests check-in. Very accommodating, friendly customer service, so glad they now offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chanticleer is the best in Eagle River if you're looking for a complete experience for waterfront location, lots of room options, full service dining, even Bubba's boat rentals! Our guests were very happy with their stay at Chanticleer and I highly recommend!!!!

Went for Friday fish fry by boat, and had an excellent experience! The food was delicious, especially the clam chowder, the fried perch, and the steak. Also, the brandy old fashioned was perfectly mixed. We heard that the kitchen was down a person due to an illness, but it didn't show at all as everything came out on time and was perfectly cooked.
Prices were very reasonable for a nice restaurant on the water.

We visited after seeing on the website that they offered a breakfast buffet. The restaurant itself looked nice and had a great location by the lake, which was a plus. However, the breakfast was disappointing and definitely not worth the $15 charge.
The buffet offered very basic items — the kind of food you'd typically get for free at most mid-range hotels. The eggs and French toast sticks tasted like they came straight from a box, and the strawberries were unfortunately moldy, which was really off-putting.
Overall, we expected a higher quality breakfast for the price, especially given the setting. It felt like a missed opportunity to deliver something memorable.

So we had my mom order the tenderloin and that was very good

But unfortunately the baked potato was shriveled up and they had some type of green piece of broccoli on there that was not impressive

My niece said that she couldn't eat her salad because it was bitter

Sorry but if you want to go to a restaurant and pay these prices you need to get a better meal than this this that's actually on time and maybe some accommodation and acknowledgement for

As a local, I love when my family visits and stays at the Chanticleer Inn. The rooms are always clean and the prices are affordable. The friendly office ladies always take care of our needs and the service in the restaurant is top notch. We had Aubrey as a server multiple times and love her spunky attitude and attention to detail with her great service. I highly recommend.

Me and my wife stayed there for the 2nd year in a row. Nice clean rooms with a lake view. We enjoyed hearing and seeing all the wild life. The service is amazing. This place is tucked away, access by boat, road, or trail. Very charming indoor, outdoor, and bar seating areas. They have room for you, don't miss out.
We don't have a need to stay there, but I certainly can't see why it would be any different than our dining experience. Try it for yourself, or send over flow guests there to experience the Northwoods.

This place is such a hidden gem!! We stayed here overnight for a quick winter getaway and we loved it! We have two Great Danes and it’s always hard to find a dog friendly place to stay, especially with their size. We were welcomed no problem! They left some doggy clean up bags, dog treats and a dog toy in our room! Also the room was SO clean! We felt so comfortable here we wished we could’ve stayed longer. We definitely will be back!

2) I’ve never stayed at a hotel that has multiple fire pits! This is a HUGE plus! Comes with the firewood and the pits are already prepared and built with kindling— astonishing!
3) Food and bar: Excellent food with minimal menu. The old fashioneds were fantastic!

Overall an awesome place and phenomenal staff! I’ll DEFINITELY come back for Cranberry fest next year and this will be my choice for my stay!

The room had a great view of the lake and was close to where we wanted to be. We checked in 30 minutes early and they charged us $20 plus tax even though the room was ready.. they also were at our door ready to clean at 9:59 sharp! A guy even jumped onto our balcony as I was tying my shoes so he could leaf blow, what if my wife was getting dressed? no care for people’s privacy.. we had a few minutes before checkout. With how efficient they seem to be with cleaning there were dead bugs all over every light, the air conditioner smells like cat pee. The beds are uncomfortable, the room needs updating, and a deep clean. The view was great. But I’d recommend finding an airbnb

My husband and I ate at the restaurant tonight and it was absolutely incredible! We split the brussel sprouts appetizer as well as the chicken marsala and it was amazing. This was the 2nd time we have eaten here and the food has been amazing both times- great presentation too!

Not only is the food wonderful, the staff is so incredibly friendly and provide the best service. Last time we were here was over 4th of July week and it was super busy and today is was a slow winter day, but both times the food and service were wonderful.

We can't wait to come back again, (and bring some friends) to one of our new favorite places in the north woods!

We went in the off season for them so there weren’t many people around but the grounds were gorgeous and the staff at the restaurant was very friendly with great food! I’ve always been a bit picky about the cleanliness of rooms when I travel so I am always wary but the Chanticleer cabins were one of the cleanest, most well kept places I’ve ever stayed! We will definitely be making the trip out again!

We can’t say enough about how wonderfully this resort has been renovated and revived by the new owners and management. When the Alwards owned and operated this lovely resort, we stayed here very happily for many years during our annual visits to Eagle River. After they sold it to the next owners, the reviews were so bad that we stayed away. |We were thrilled to hear that Chanticleer had been sold again to private owners who knew and loved the place. The reviews quickly skyrocketed, and we booked for this year. |We were delighted with the villa we stayed in. The decks were brand new, and were sanded during our stay. The appliances were also new. We had trouble with the stove, but housekeeping was very responsive. Whenever we called Jill or Jenni, they were ready to help. The mattress in our bed needed replacement, but we trust that this will be addressed as part of the continuing renovation. The grounds are immaculate, and some welcome additions, such as a fire pit, have been made|One suggestion we have is that when people call to make reservations, they should be asked about mobility issues. We were at first assigned to a villa that one of us could not access. Luckily another, similar accommodation was available, and the staff facilitated our transfer graciously.|We look forward to many future stays, and know we’ll be well taken care of at Chanticleer!

Decently appointed rooms, ample outdoor activity possibilities, a bar/restaurant on property, and a staff who strive to make your stay a memorable one. Great place to stay and eat! The new restaurant is fantastic and the beer garden doesn't disappoint(the kids loved the root beer on tap). Staying on property is great. They just added fire pits this summer, which we used every night and really made the experience great. Management is very attentive to any needs or requests. They have a private beach with swimming dock on Dollar lake, and the kids loved it. Docking a boat 50 feet from your cabin is awesome and the access to the chain is a great time every day! We will be returning every summer!

I was delighted to see the restaurant reopen after three years. I called on July 2nd, but was informed that the restaurant was closed and they did not accept reservations. We decided to visit the restaurant on July 3rd at 7 PM. We were informed that there would be a 30-minute wait for a table. Moreover, there was a large group apparantly who had reservations, and we were told it would be a 2-hour wait for us to receive any food. They suggested that we consider going elsewhere. I questioned why this large group had reservations when I was previously informed that the restaurant didn't take reservations. The response I received was, "Well, for large groups we do take reservations." Frustrated, we decided to leave.

However, determined to support the newly reopened establishment, we gave it another try on July 5th at 8 PM. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 30-minute wait, which was not a problem thats why we have bars. Surprisingly, we were seated within 15 minutes and placed our order. The salad arrived quickly, but then we waited for an agonizing 1.5 hours without any food. Every table except ours had already received their meals and had so with the exception of one table as we walked into the dinning room. The waitress was exceptional and continuously checked in to see if she could assist us in any way. Eventually, someone whom I assumed was the manager clearly overheard our conversation about the prolonged wait and lack of food. We had not even voiced a complaint to anyone. The manager approached us and abruptly said, "You can leave." Confused, I explained the situation including that all tables had been served and no food had come out in over 45 minutes, lost order perhaps. The response was the same, "You can leave." So, we left. It seems that they only value large groups as patrons. I will not be returning to the restaurant (food we saw looked great), nor will I frequent the Beer Garden or recommend either of them to anyone, but will be sure to tell this story.

Had a very nice 2 night stay. Talked to new proprietor, Nate. Very nice conversation about plans for the place. Great things are coming… the resort is beautiful with deer traveling through frequently. Wi-Fi was very good but rarely used because “I am up North!” Amenities are standard but everything works and the room was very clean. Picture are on the walls of what it looks like long ago (very nice). Sat on the dock and listened to the call of the Loon. Looking forward to coming here again.

We needed to book a room for our son's hockey tournament weekend. Unfortunately for all of us there was a lot of people in town that weekend with the derby which made finding a room a struggle. I was unfamiliar with the area so when I saw Chanticleer was 2 minutes away from the arena and had decent reviews I booked it. Expedia lied to me and led me to believe I had booked 2 king beds when we only had one and the staff member I spoke to the morning of check in hooked us up with a cot, and accommodated a couple other requests, so my teenager didn't have to share a bed with his parents lol. They were super helpful, extremely friendly and wonderfully entertaining during our stay and our visit to the bar our first night. I would 100% come back and visit this crew if we visit Eagle River again. The room was tidy and a perfect crash pad for the weekend we had, I can imagine with the view of the water it's probably a great spot in the summer, and though I can't speak of the winter activities as we were in the ice arena all weekend it seemed to connect to a bunch of snowmobile trails.

My family and other extended family members have frequented Chanticleer for many years. We never experienced a problem. It was recently sold, has new management and chose to partner with a 1.2 star rayed company - Vacasa. After becoming temporarily disabled and having Covid, we asked to shorten our stay. They refused to allow changes. However, after driving 9 hours and arrived at 10:45 p.m. in the middle of our reservation we found that Chanticleer rented our room to another customer as there was someone else including pets in our unit. We tried to use our other room, but the shower didn't drain well and the toilet didn't flush. Clearly this booking agency AND the operator are incompetent, in our experience.||I called Vacasa, they promised to resolve and call back (they NEVER did!). I spoke with the operator (Jeff) and after he promised our refund would be emailed to us "shortly", it was not received as promised. After following up numerous times, Jeff now says it can take several days. After reading through other reviews, another client of theirs said they were promised a refund but never received it.||It is ironic and upsetting that they didn't allow us to modify our reservation, but they apparently felt they could. No Integrity at all. No professionalism at all.||This is clearly not the same place that I and my family have frequented for many years. We've stayed here before the current owner bought this resort - no problems for years.

Now - we booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. After becoming disabled and having Covid, we requested to shorten our stay. They wouldn't allow the refund. Then after we drove 9 hours and arrived at 10:45 p.m. in the middle of our reservation and Chanticleer rented our room to another customer as there was someone else including pets in our unit. We tried to use our other room, but the shower didn't drain well and the toilet didn't flush. Clearly this booking agency AND the operator are incompetent, in our experience.

I called Vacasa, they promised to resolve and call back (they NEVER did!). I spoke with the operator (Jeff) and after he promised our refund would be emailed to us "shortly", it was not received as promised. After following up numerous times, Jeff now says it can take several days. After reading through other reviews, another client of theirs said they were promised a refund but never received it.

It is ironic and upsetting that they didn't allow us to modify our reservation, but they apparently felt they could. No Integrity at all. No professionalism at all.

This is clearly not the same place that I and my family have frequented for many years. If they make good & actually keep their word for once, we'll plan to update this posted review.

Very clean, dog friendly and beautiful setting. We had just a hotel room overlooking the lake. Entire resort was well maintained and clean. Nice playground beautiful views. Only down side was internet access was terrible. Wi go barely worked and my awesome cell service that works everywhere else had no signal there! We had to go to town to find service. So if you want to unplug and go dark on devices this is your place to make that happen.

A quaint B&B in a good residential neighborhood high on Lookout Mountain. The room looks and smelled clean. The breakfasts are great too and consists of 2 hot meal options as well as breads rolls and cereals. My only complaint is that the shower didn't drain fast enough. It was a good place to stay and well worth the cost.

Nice cabins and lake place. Some cabins have jetted jubs, but when you fill hot water, you got to wait for hourse before you could take a shower. There is a private beach which has several beach chairs and a swing, quite relaxing spot. We couldn't get the boat rentals, would be great place for fishing. There are some trails, you can also bike around eagle river, watch out for some local traffic though. Try to get in before sunset, you can't find door numbers after sunset as there are no street lights.

There are some feedback for the hosts - they didnt have washer dryer which seems essential for long stay. Was suggested a coin laundry around few miles away. Quite pricy for not having essentials or condiments which most cabin operators offer complementary for guests. There is coffee but no sugar. Vessels are quite old and rubbed, we didn't feel like using all of them.

Chanticleer Inn is a nice enough facility. Unfortunately, Jake, the owner, took it upon himself to put hundreds of dollars of unauthorized charges on my credit card. It was a complete nightmare, since the reservation booking entity (Vacasa) disclaimed any responsibility, and the owner made promises of remediation, which were never followed up on. Finally had to have my bank step in to set things right.

Village was clean, comfortable. The service was the worst. Very expensive for very little amenities. ||The restaurant was not open, the bar was only open from 11:30 to 4:00|| There was propane grills on deck very nice. However the instructions said if you run out to call office. In the middle of cooking dinner the propane went out || Office was not open and all mail boxes were full.||When I called the rental agent they said we had to refill . NOT WHAT THE INSTRUCTIONS SAID.||I will never come back.||We were planning on bringing friends next year .||Now researching other options. It will never be here anyplace connected with Vacasa.

Stayed there the last week of July. The room was mostly clean. It would have been nice to have a broom to clean the deck with since there are acorns and sticks falling on it all of the time. The bar/restaurant was only open on Saturday. They do have a burger grill set up on the porch along the channel. The channel was busy and quite loud. There was a storm that knocked the power out. There was no water or AC and the temps were in the high 80's. Outage lasted from 10:30 on Monday until the evening of the next night. Management refused to offer a refund or reduced rate. The manager said he would approve a refund but when the management company asked him he refused. We called four times and they only returned a phone call once. There are other nice places on the Eagle River chain that offer better service. That is where we will stay in the future.

Very family friendly and a great place to run away to as there are 28 lakes to swim fish or boat on and lots of peacefulness! The owners were very friendly even w when I was having a rough time..they are great and accommodated above and beyond! Definitely a spot to stay at! Reasonably priced too! I suggest a room w a patio over looking the lake ...room 57 was a good spot or 58 if it's just you or you and your S.O.;)

We, family of 3, stayed at the Villa facing the lake. It was a very pleasant and quiet stay. Weather was a bit cold during our stay but waking up to a beautiful sunrise by the lake was a refreshing experience.

There is also a private beach about 0.5 mile hike. Water was bitterly cold but the clear waters were so tempting for us to take a plunge :)

This was my first time at Chanticleer Inn and it was wonderful! We stayed in the winter during the World Champ Snowmobile Derby. The snowmobile trails went right by the cottage. The rooms were clean and also included basic pots, pans, etc for cooking. I made a mistake in my reservation not booking an additional night. The staff at Chanticleer Inn were completely understanding and helpful. They helped me find a room across the street at another cottage. In addition, they helped move my things, show me the location, and unlocked it for me. I highly recommend this place!

Actually had a family reunion here a good chunk of years back i love this place this time we splurged for a nicer cabin with a kitchen pots pans toaster stove oven and great veiw of the lake out the windows fireplace was cozy the only thing is there's this clean the dishes etc ya used before you go/checkout type thing and the last people in ours left food stickey dried to the knifes and some other dishes kinda had that unclean feeling but we took extra time to clean out the toasters crumb tray sanitizing all handles and washing every dish so whoever's after us your welcome would've vaccumed too if I'd brought one with oh and the beds were comfy and bathrooms were great

My Fiancee and myself stayed in the villa,s , managed by vacasa, the week after the 4th of July. We were slated to stay Sun thru Friday however we were so disappointed in the accommodation,s we left on Wednesday. First of all the room was tiny I could deal with that if it would of been updated. Then it was the lack of water pressure then no hot water which we did let vacasa know and the hot water was fixed. The blinds were broken and the outside decks had not seen any maintenance in quite some time. I would like to find out whom the owner is as it is obvious he is eager to take your money but reluctant to maintain his property. Kinda sounds similar to a slum lord.

We rented Villa #8 over New Years Eve. The booking process was easy and the prices were in-line. Our Villa was roomy, cozy and clean. The New Years Eve dinner was wonderful...we had prime rib, lobster and the salmon!!! The best app around was the duck wontons! Great drinks by the fire place and the views are killer! Can’t wait to go back up this summer!!! Great family atmosphere.
