Must visit winery! My husband and I stopped here for an afternoon & loved this spot. Beautiful views and scenic spots outdoors, yet the inside was equally as charming with the chateau vibes. Wine was excellent - especially the full bodied reds (Marco V). Would 10/10 recommend!

Two stars mostly for the chaos and rudeness of two employees. Came in at a very busy time on a Saturday, 9/6, and it seemed pretty chaotic and it was unclear who to go to for what. At one time there were four employees behind the wine bar and no one at the food counter to take our slips. Waited a good ten minutes and had to wave down the cook who was standing behind the wine bar. She is NOT very pleasant at all, rude and offered no apology or concern about how long we had been waiting. Keep in mind, we already paid AND tipped. Suckered.

Inquired on pizza because there's no list of flavors. A woman with dark hair helping us called over another employee, Jan, who tossed an ad for pizza at us, but still no list of what kinds offered. When asked what kind of pizzas there were, Jan just walked away. The woman helping us seemed embarrassed and apologized and suggested we ask the, Neena, the cook.

When we came up to get another sample, Jan made us go back and get our dirty glasses to reuse.

The food prices are up there, good food when we finally got it, but having to be your own server/busser at those prices is pretty lame, ESPECIALLY when they expect tips! So all they're doing is pouring wine and it's that chaotic??? Two girls seemed to be on it, the other two (Jan and the cook) looked to be in the way and again, rude.

Really good wine, though. Probably won't return and sit in as there seems to be little structure, the rudeness is unwelcoming, and in a place like with the prices they ask, we don't expect to wait on ourselves or clean up. Might pick up a bottle of wine here and there.

LOVE this winery, especially the Detroit style pizza that was served on Saturday during our visit. The cook and staff were so friendly!!!! The savory pizza complemented the Cabernet very nicely. The pizza was incredibly tasty and the golden crusted cheese on the edges enhanced the flavor! We will definitely be back! My husband even said it was absolutely worth the drive and he doesn’t even drink wine. Great selection of drinks for every palette! Thank you for such a pleasurable experience!!!! Highly recommen! We LOVE this venue and have been extremely pleased with how everything turned out at our fundraising event. They provided a fabulous evening and a wonderful experience hosting our event at the Chateau St. Croix! It was truly a relaxed and joyful occasion, and we heard so many great things from our guests.

Irv, with his friendly, down-to-earth approach and recommendations, along with all the staff, and the beautiful space and friendly service at the bar, made the night an excellent experience for everyone. It was no question that we will continue hosting our event here on an annual basis.

For our 30th wedding anniversary, we started with the Great River Road Wine Trail, with Chateau St. Croix being the last stop of our 2-day winery touring. This should have been our first stop so we could have stayed for hours! It is a beautiful winery with the BEST wines of our journey. We arrived late in the day and only had time for a quick sampling, so we bought 2 bottles to take home and a glass to take outside onto the gorgeous grounds. We ended up talking with the wine maker/owner Irv and his right-hand vineyard expert Vic for over an hour. After closing, Irv brought out his 'Scarlet' wine "from the rafters," which meant it wasn't ready a year ago so was stored away, but--Oh, my--now it was ready - absolutely divine! We also sampled Marco V Red and Itasca, amongst others. To top off the evening, we got to meet owner Anna (very sweet lady!), who was busy mowing while her husband was giving us an excellent education on the notes and pairings. Needless to say, we loved so many of their wines, we couldn't decide on just a couple, so we ended up going home with 2 cases!

What a great place, we ended up there on a whim, on top of being a lovely setting, the wine was incredible! We stood at the bar and Joan led us through our tasting, very knowledgeable and fun to talk to! Was previously not a fan of blends but on her recommendation I tried the Marco V and absolutely loved it! We plan on buying a case next time we come in. We ended our visit with the chicken flat bread which was for sure a 10/10. Thanks for the great experience.

We came here very early, almost as they opened. I thought it might have views of the river. It does not, but it has views of vast fields and the vineyard. We didn't stay indoors because it was a gorgeous summer day but theybhave a nice dining room inside befitting the "chateau" name. Outdoors, they have a patio up front and a covered dining area in the back, where we chose to plant ourselves.

I got the wine tasting sampler where they give you 5 tokens that you can use to sample _any_ wine on the list! I like that because I really wanted a slushie but I wanted to sample the wines that I might try to bring home. The lady at the counter was super nice and I tried 2 white wines, a dessert red, a rose and the slushie! We also had flatbreads and the meat and cheese board. If we had come later, the live music would've made it perfect. I really like that they serve light food here because that's part and parcel of a good winery experience...

Had a great time for a few hours at Chateau St Croix Winery on a Monday. The staff was wonderful and explained everything to us about the wines and ports. Great recommendations.

They do serve food and they have plenty of light options available. Including cheese platters.

Outside there is cute Al fresco dining at the entrance patio and covered area in the back.

My wife and I were almost expecting a tourist trap when we saw the southern European hunting lodge style of this estate. However, that is not the case.

The owner just had a taste for the style. Which I must admit to enjoying myself as well.

The wine was phenomenal! Truly and utterly phenomenal. We each had a flight (5), so I got to sample 10 of their wines. *Cue happy little jig*
Of these, there was only one I didn't like. But that was only because the others I tried put it to such shame. Honestly, by itself, I would have enjoyed it. It was the comparison that hurt it.

But I can heartily recommend their entire selection! Subject to your own preference and taste, of course.

We were blessed enough to be the only people there, and Jan gave us all her time and attention. She often regaled us with fascinating tidbits of the wine making world and the varying processes. We were quite happy to sip on our wines and soak it all up.

This is a beautiful estate, and hey, they serve wine! It's got an old-school castle 🏰 vibe. They give you tokens for tastings so you can take your time and grab your next drink at your leisure.

We hopped around and sat in all the different areas each time we started a new tasting. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will visit anytime we are in the area.

Amazing owner and venue! From start to finish, you felt like you were reminiscing with an old friend over a fantastic glass of wine. They have wine for every occasion (I recommend either the Cheesehead White or the illusive 15yr old Zinfandel Port - you won't regret it!!). The atmosphere is wonderful! You come in and almost automatically unwind - the delicious wine is the cherry on top! I didn't have a chance to taste their food however looking at the menu, you won't be disappointed.

What a wonderful place with a wonderful staff. We were fortunate enough to share a couple conversations with Joan. Such a pleasant person sharing how much she was proud to be a part of the winery. Talking about how the owners are talented and built the place to resemble a 17th century French vineyard. Then we took pictures with our dog. Enjoyed our rainy Saturday afternoon at this lovely place! The wine was outstanding! We had been to another winery earlier in the day but enjoyed the wines here so much more. Chateau St. Croix Winery was amazing! We happened to stop by during their Barrel Tasting weekend and that was such a treat! The head winemaker explained the barrel aging process and offered samples from the barrels. We loved that this event was included in the normal wine sampling. After the barrel tasting event, we went to their outdoor patio and listened to live music while sampling their wide variety of wines. The sample pours are very generous and all of the wine we tried tasted great! I will definitely be returning to purchase some of their wine in the future!

Did a tasting at noon on a Saturday, we were the 1st people there so we got a lot of 1 on 1 attention which was wonderful. James was very knowledgeable & gave great recommendations. I highly recommend the cheese plate which is 5 different cheeses and crackers. My party was able to try all of their wines. Spring for the 2 and 5 token reds and ports, they are fantastic! If we're ever back in the area we'll be sure to make a stop back.

If you’re looking for a winning wine tasting near Minneapolis, I’d recommend the day trip to Chateau St. Croix winery. We had the pleasure of tasting nearly all their offerings and also enjoyed the cheese plate. (The cheese plate had 5 cheeses and was definitely enough for two). For the price it was fantastic, and some of their reds and their ports were very much worthwhile as we ended up purchasing some to enjoy later. Plan to stay a few hours for the tasting. I hear it’s much busier in the summer, but we really enjoyed the more intimate setting the off season provided as well as the one on one conversation with the tasting experts.

I've been to Chateau St Croix twice, and have been happy with their wine selection both times. From the wines that I have tried, their reds and ports are their best wines.
The grounds at Chateau are beautiful. The grounds are set up in a way that makes the place look massive from far away, but much somewhat smaller closer up. This makes for some great photo opportunities.

Amazing wine , wood fire pizza, cheeses and service. And most of all, what a perfect dreamy location for a wedding!
I love to photograph at the Chateau St Croix. The place is an absolute dream! It's very well thought and built, and the indoor and outdoor spaces are incredible!

Visited on their grand re-opening, so it might not have been the standard experience, but we had a fabulous visit! Everyone was friendly and inviting of families. Good tasting value. Also had some local beer for those of us who get wine saturated quickly. The deli counter was a nice touch, but a couple of critiques - not being able to select my own cheeses was a bummer. Also $10 for a little cup of olives was a huge rip-off.

I love this place. The staff is super friendly, there's a large variety of delicious wines, a quality snack situation, and a huge and beautiful area to sit outside or in. The pours they provide for the tasting is really generous in comparison to other wineries and I always appreciate that. I always recommend this place to my boujee friends and my regular friends.

The wine is good but the new tasting glasses have a line on it now which they don't go over it with the wine pour. The tasters are very small now and the price increased for tasters also. Me and the wife USE to go there allot cause the tasting was a generous pour for the money, but now that the glasses are marked for the pours we will not go much anymore now, i bought a few cases of wine from there also but I think it's going to be a loss of bussiness now with new ownership and measured glasses now, i hope chateau goes back to there old ways of a regular wine pour for the tasting and not a little sip. Not worth our drive there anymore for the raised prices and small pours, it suck caused we loved this place allot and the employees are awesome

Wonderful wines. We have tried most of the wineries in the area, but these wines as a whole are the best. Other than dry red wines, they have about everything else that would fit the palate. The service was very friendly and informative. The best winery in North Western Wisconsin.
